Quicktime on older computers

One of the latest quiktime updates is over taxing my cpu and running the cpu usage to max. What version of Quicktime works with an XP service pack 3. I can no longer play .MOV video file saved to my PC from my iphone. My cpu usage idels at about 5% until I run or open a MOV file on my computer. At about 92% usage the video stalls and at 100% usage the audio stutters. I've replaced my Reltec AC97 drivers and checked my DMA setting and there set at ultra DMA I've lowered the bitrate rate and sample rate to it lowest settings and i only have a minor improvement in play back. I've even tried to increase the priorty to higher then normal in the Windows task manager with no help. How do I get back to the verison of quicktime that was working before the update.

Ok, cool!
Thanks a lot for answering that quickly.
Pretty stupid of me not to find that in help text myself though.

how to deactivate photoshop from my earlier older computers?

Connect them to the internet first. From the Photoshop menu: Help > Deactivate...
Contact Adobe if this does not work. Contact Customer Care  They can reset activations for you.

  • HT203167 I've downloaded Itunes music for nearly 10 years on multiple computers, however, I've noticed that I can't access music that I purchased on some of the older computers. Can this problem be fixed?

I've downloaded Itunes music for nearly 10 years on multiple computers, however, I've noticed that I can't access previously purchased music from some of the older computers. Can all of my Itunes purchases be consolidated?

    Hello, ted_marx38.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The most common cause for this issue would be media present that is purchased with another Apple ID.  When prompted to authorize the computer it may show a different Apple ID.  If this is the case, the computer will need to be authorized for this Apple ID.  The article below will walk you through the process of verifying if that is the case or correcting the issue if not.

  • De-authorizing files that where authorized older computers or HD images

I assume as many others, I have bought iTunes files which are still authorized on older computers (destroyed, not in our possession anymore) or have had their HD re-imaged. Is there a way to de-authorize authorizations that were made on older computers or on other HD images retrospectively?

Is there a way to de-authorize authorizations that were made on older computers or on other HD images retrospectively?
No. If you've run out of authorizations or contact the iTunes Store staff, the authorization count on the servers can be reset to zero, but this itself doesn't affect any device other than an Apple TV in any way.

  • Exporting to Quicktime for older versions

Hello. I have a the latest version of QT and so when I export a video, it plays on my computer but not for folks running older Window versions. Is there a way I can export to a QT 6 clip without having to re-install the older version of QT therefore losing the benefits of having QT 7 myself? I export in Final Cut Pro. Would getting Quicktime 7 Pro work?
    Thanks for any help.
    powermac g5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Quicktime 7 uses H264 encoding in all the presets and that means such movies require QT 7. You will have to use custom exports and choose mpeg-4 to make files that will require only QT 6. If you use Sorenson 3 then QT5 for Windows will read that. Finally, the Sorenson encoder without a number will produce video readable in QT 4 and later. If you are not up to speed on how to make customized encodings then download this pdf guide to learn how to do it. I'm not sure if this link is still active so you may have to do a search of the Quicktime site if the link doesn't work for you:
    http://images.apple.com/quicktime/pdf/QuickTime7UserGuide.pdf
P.S. That link seems to work but you will need the free Acrobat reader installed to be able to use the guide.

  • Avid Users-QuickTime and (Older) AVID QuickTime Codec

Hello everyone. The reason I am posting here regarding this instead of in Avid's own forum (I believe they do have one) is simply because I do not have an account/ID there, and most Avid users are also Mac users.
Anyway, the remaining of our graphic macs in the office will be upgrading to G5s and OS X Tiger soon (finally) and one "old" Avid Symphony (on a Windows NT) is still 'working with us' and the new OS X Avid QuickTime Codecs are unable to read any QuickTime movie exported from the Symphony to the macs.
Right now because we are still using OS 9, an older Avid QuickTime Codec (that only exist in OS 9 platform) enable us to read the movie clip and allow us to render properly in After Effects.
To allow that clip from Symphony to be able to use on a Mac OS X platform, we have to use QuickTime Player (OS 9) to re-export it using the newer Codec into a new movie clip.
After we finished rendering we will use the same method to re-export that clip to "downgrade" the clip to the older codec.
If we all use new G5s, one way is to install OS 9 as Classic in G5, launch it and launch QuickTime Player to do the same - unless in Classic environment this method will not work??
I am just wondering if anyone in this profession has the same "dilemma" the same working situation as us? And how do you solve it?? We can't simply just get rid of the Symphony (we love to... ha ha ha)
    Thanks and cheers

I had the same issue and I located the registry key HKEYCURRENTUSER\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\Quicktime\LocalUserPreferences
I then substituted the %USERPROFILE% variable for the entire key and copied the preferences file, which I created with an account the had admin privileges, to the root of the mandatory user profile. Now I can run the software as a user using this mandatory profile and the software runs without prompting me to Update the software.

  • Using a bundled copy of Lion on older computers

If I buy a new MacBook Air, it comes bundled with a copy of Lion.
If I buy an app on the Mac App Store, the license terms state that I can legally install that app on up to (i think) 5 computers.
So, does the bundled version of Lion count as a sort of 'OEM license' that can only be used on one computer. Or is it a full license, that I can install on up to 5 computers - for example my Mac mini.
For clarity: I'm actually asking about the license terms, not so much the technical 'yes we can' or not.

    Rob,
This is an exerpt from the MAS license agreement:

  • Slide show and pictures not showing up on Mac G4 and older computers

Anyone that has tried viewing my website from a mac G4 or an older mac computer has had trouble viewing my pictures page. The page just comes up blank.
    The URL is www.cbakerexteriors.com
Every page comes up fine except for the slideshow page. So far, I haven't heard of any problems with the site when visited on any PC computer or a G5 mac.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • HT1925 I cannot uninstall Bonjour and Quicktime so I can do a complete reinstall of iTunes.  I get an error message stating that both are older versions and to contact technical support.  I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.

I am trying to update iTunes on my desktop (running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3) and I continue to receive an error message stating that the update cannot continue because Bonjour and Quicktime are older versions and to contact technical support.  I have tried repairing both and tried to uninstall iTunes and all of it's componants and still receive the same message.  Any help getting this issue resolved as soon as possible will be much appreciated.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Next, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
