Quicktime only playing audio

Downloaded some videos from my gfriends video camera & all QT plays is the audio. Tells me that I may not have the components needed to play videos. They are .mov files. She has a newer mac & they play on hers. I downloaded the latest version of QT and it still only plays the audio.
Info tells me that the codecs are MPEG-2 SD Camcorder, Integer (Little Endian), Timecode.
I'm lost on what to do.

Dear KQK, I'm running Quicktime 7.5.5 and I don't get any sound when playing back some of my AVI files I downloaded from a file sharing network. About 1 in 10 has no sound. If you can help me with this problem, I will gladly buy your PDF file about Quicktime. Godspeed

Quicktime only plays audio from video files!

When looking at quicktime files, such as on Apple Trailers, HD files work, but the standard ones won't play, just the audio. There isn't even a blank screen or anything, just the audio bar!

It all depends on the codec the file uses, Karli.
What model of camcorder is this video coming from?
Are you working on a Mac or a PC? Have you got the latest version of Quicktime, per the program requirements? When you started your project, did you select the settings for a DSLR at 720p? This is a vital step since it will activate the components your computer will need to work with many of these types of files.

Video only playing audio

On my PC (Windows7 and ITunes10.6), my music videos only play audio. It did play both video and audio, but currenly only audio is working. Any advise is appreciated.

YouTube films are only playing audio, no pictures. Any ideas out there I have already cleared out my Safari history as suggested in another post, this solved the issue for a day but back to square one now.

I am having the same problem. Last night during a long call using headphones, suddenly I could not be heard, but I could hear the person I was talking to. I did not try the speaker. This morning with out the headphone twice I placed a call and heard no ringing, but the call did connect as I was told they got the call, but no one was there. I just reset the phone and will see what happens. I was thinking of going to the Apple store were I got the phone, but if they are going to ship it off rather than exchnage it, that is a no go for me at this point.

Try Deleting it from your device, then download again from purchase history.

MOV files are audio and/or video content wrapped in an MOV file container. The first step in solving your problem would be to determine what codec components were used to create the source files and then determine if they are still supported by you current system configutation and/or conversion work flow.

Should be able to go into your sound preferences and choose your output device, you can also try downloading Airfoil and try that, it's a pretty cool app.

And When i double click the video files in the editing program, another window pops up named: Source:Sequence 01. But the window Program:Sequence 01 Has a Red screen on it! But the file clearly works so i have no idea what to do.

QuickTime only plays its audio through my interface

I installed the Windows Media plug-in for QuickTime and I can now stream and preview content I could not have before. However, for some reason, the streaming content I wish to listen to (audio from a radio station) only plays through my audio interface.
I would visit the web page that has the streaming content and their little commercial with video plays fine through my internal speakers. However, once the content I want to see starts playing, for some reason it plays through my audio interface connected via USB. The thing is, not only have I made sure that the audio preferences are set to 'internal speakers,' but at some point the content I want to hear actually played through my internal speakers! What am I doing wrong?

That's weird! The content won't even play if I try unplugging the USB connection to my audio interface. It says "Unknown Error -2004."

Quicktime 7.2 only plays audio in safari

Since I've upgraded to 7.2, all quicktimes in the browser now only play the audio. If I reload the page, the movie comes thru. Is there a fix/patch for this behaviour?
I am on a 2GHZ Inte Core Duo Macbook. with OSX 10.4.10

I've seen dozens of posted "fixes" and most seem to generate to other Web Sites by way of RSS feeds. They all seem to appear after any Mac OS or software update when viewers post "solutions" to issues.
Since those pages generate revenue from page hits it doesn't matter to them whether or not the fixes have actually been confirmed, are posted by other users or are even practical.
What works in one case may not even apply to another and each user.
Example in point is the famous "QuickTime question mark" that many users have experienced. Some were caused by browser plug-in changes that attempted to open Flash media files via QuickTime. Others were errors in Safari browser that failed to properly display .m4a files and a third is the "no video" problem posted here.
Each require a different "fix". Apple fixed the .m4a issue with the 7.2 update but many users have yet to install it. Adobe address some security issues and has updated their Flash player software and it fixes other errors.
I'm sorry if it appears I've singled your post out. It was not my intention to try to discredit your answer to any post here but that suggested "fix" (removing the QuickTime browser plug-in) would only repair Flash media issues (by disabling QuickTime).
We "regular" posters need to ask a question sometimes before giving out a specific fix. And we must understand that a wrong answer can do more harm than good.
And removing any plug-in will, obviously, cause other features to not work.

Changed TV out to off but ipod still only plays audio and no video

Just recently my ipod decided not to play video. All the videos in the video folders are gone and now appear in the music folder. Even the video podcasts no longer appear in the video podcast folder. I have changed the TV to out to off and still it continues to do the same thing. I am not sure what happened, I don't believe I changed any settings or anything. I would hate to reset the ipod and lose everything. Need help, thanks.

It plays fine on my other pc, but I only get audio and no video when I open it on this pc. It shows up like static lines on a tv that has bad reception.
Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
... and click OK. Quit and restart the QuickTime Player prior to checking to see if the settings change has had any effect.
