Quicktime Player help

I'm trying to watch videos on apple's web site to no avail. I've tried it on Safari and it says Missing plug-In.
I ten went to FireFox and Google Chrome, both of which say I need to install quicktime player. I know I have both Quicktime 7 and X installed, so i try it out anyway and the download manager says that Quicktime X is already present so the download can't continue.
So, I'm wondering why isn't Apple's site reading the fact that I already have Quicktime downloaded on my Mac?

  • Quicktime player "help" not working

I have Quicktime Pro on a MacBook. Quicktime player works fine. However, I can't access the help feature. When I click on quicktime help or put in a help topic to search for nothing happens. it just returns to the quicktime player screen. It works fine on my Mac mini, just not the MacBook. When I do a software update it says all software up to date. Something must be missing, but don't know how to fix it.

  • HT3775 Quicktime player help

When I try to open a movie file it comes up with this
'The document “Harry Potter 2.flv” could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized.
    I cannot play any movies.
    Please help

Google 'Perian' and 'Flip4Mac' — these are the extensions that will make QT play other file formats.
However, a simpler solution is just to abandon QT in favour of the free, open-source player VLC, which plays just about everything natively without further downloads.
Download the free VLC Player from here:
    http://www.videolan.org
Plays just about everything, including avi & mpg, without add ons.

  • Movie trailer or any other links in the quicktime player does not work

When I click on the movie trailer/Hot picks/Quick picks links on the player interface nothing happens. When I move the Mouse it changes to a hand showing the link is clickable.
Also when I click on the "Quicktime Website" or the "Quicktime Player Help" from the Help Menu, nothing happens.
When I go to any apple website and clicks on the sample trailer movies links, it is playing the trailer.
Anybody may please tell how to solve the problem.

  • How to use music e-mail attachment coming in w QuickTime Player

    I have QuickTime Player 7.1.5
When I download a music attachment from an e-mail, it comes in as Quicktime. Problem is: how do I download it to use it?
Tried to get it into iTunes, but didn't work. Went to QuickTime Player Help, which was of no help.
    1) Why does a music attachment (meaning a song, or tune) come in as an e-mail QuickTime file?
    2) What can I do with it?

    Open iTunes>Music>File>New Playlist
Drag the QT file onto the blank New Playlist window.
For burning, first you need to determine if your iMac is capable of burning (If you are not using external burning hardware.). If so, then w/iTunes still open click the burn disc symbol at the bottom of the iTunes window. iTunes will guide you from there.
For further burning instructions, read iTunes Help Menu, your OS Help Menu & check out the iTunes Forum.
I do not own an iPod, so I can't help you there. Until the iPod knowledgeable users come in here, suggest that you cross-post in one of the iPod Forums for whichever iPod model you have where the iPod users hang out.

  • Currently using iPhoto 7.1.5   We recently upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard with updated Quicktime player.  Our videos off our camera no longer open in Quicktime by double clicking.  Any help?

We are running iPhoto 7.1.5 '08.  After upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Quicktime Player 10.0, our videos off of our camera no longer open by double clicking.  Any help?

Thank you for your quick reply.  I'll give it a try.  Another workaround I figured out last night is to right click the video, click show file, and then double click the file. Quicktime the plays the video.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Quicktime player produces incorrect codes PRETTY DESPERATE PLEASE HELP

I have tried to upload a movie to my webpage utilzing the quicktime player export to webpage.  I would really appreciate someones help, I have been going around and  around with this problem for a month now, I am getting pretty desperate.
Use this code in the <head> of your web page:
    <script src="scripts/prototype.js" language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="scripts/qtp_poster.js" language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="stylesheets/qtp_poster.css" rel="StyleSheet" type="text/css" />
Use this code in the <body> of your web page:
    <a href="seeapoy.mov" rel="qtposter">
              <img src="seeapoy.jpg" width="570" height="496" alt="seeapoy"/>
    </a>
    Exported:
    Reference Movie:seeapoy.mov
    Poster Frame:seeapoy.jpg
    Versions:seeapoy - Computer.m4v
It works on my computer on my website BUT when I upload my webpage and this code with the movies they WILL NOT PLAY!
Quicktime has made the computer.m4v movie as a "protected movie"  could this be the reason they won't play on the internet and the other thing I see is that the .mov movie shows as being able to be played in quicktime player BUT THE Computer.m4v movie uploads as an ITunes with a music symbol on it.  I opened the computer.m4v in quicktime player and tried to "unprotect it" and made it read and write for everyone but again it reverted back to an Itunes product and it won't play when I upload it.
When I upload it I can see the jpg which says click on to play but when you click on it nothing plays it turns black and stays black.  I have tried it at least 3 dozen times using smaller movies but size does not appear to be the issue.
If quicktime player's code is wrong I would appreciate it if someone could help me with some kind of a code so that I can upload my movie to my webpage.

You're missing a whole lot of code that should be inserted in the body tag.
The .m4v file will show the "iTunes" style icon because iTunes is the default player for .m4v files. When placed in a Web page QuickTime browser plug-in will handle the file.
The whole purpose of Export to Web is to create multiple versions of the source file. You've only made one version.
Can you post the URL so we can examine your page code?

  • Quicktime Player unresponsive while screen recording. Help!

Hello. I often upload youtube videos with QuickTime Player and Final Cut Pro X. 2 days ago, I noticed a problem with quicktime player. Whenever I try to screen record, about 2 mins and 30 secs of recording, QuickTime Player becomes unresponsive. I am running on the new version of OSX Mavericks on a MacBook Pro. Thanks for concerning your time to help me fix this problem.

Thanks for the tip on the stop record function icon on the top menu bar.  Its disappointing that the new program with Mavericks doesn't keep the the player control box open when you are recording.  This may have been in response to some people complaining that the box can get in the way of the recording, although elsewhere it is said that even though it looks like it gets in the way it actually won't show up in the recording.
Regardless of your preference, I think some of us would ideally like to be able to see the window at times so that we can verify that the sound levels are coming through (its a royal pain to record an hour and find out later that no sound was recorded) and to potentially pause recording to remove sections where material is occuring that is of no interest (ie they took a break or need to look for something).  The stop button literally stops the recording and no longer gives you the option to RESUME.
The only thing that I found that does work although it is VERY CLUMSY is that if you attempt to quit   Quicktime the window with all the controls will show up.  If you hit cancel that window will stay there and allow you to do what you want.  Now I suspect all the messages that say DO YOU WANT TO END RECORDING are likely to show up in your recording, but I guess you can trim that out.  What would make a lot of sense is for them to have the option to view the control box in the  View pull down menu.
Oh well.  Any one else found any other ways to manage the quicktime screen recordings without being able to access the control window?

  • I need help to re set QuickTime player as my default internet Video Player

Does anyone know about QuickTime Player 7 10.0?
I have a Real Player software Program that is set as my internet default video player, I want to change and re set my internet video player as my default QuickTime Player, I don't know how to change and re set my Internet Video player. I noticed that in my QuickTime Player it doesn't have a preferences under the quickTime Player Menu. Does anyone know how I can re set My QuickTime Player as my internet Video default Player?
    Thank You,
    Mrs. Trisha Foster

Sorry, look under the Help menu -> installed plugins (I'm using Firefox and had to keep showing/hiding Safari). As for the other location, don't change anything there (not good to change anything in the Library folders) - I just wanted you to look to see if Quicktime is there or not. If it is, you need to take a look while Real Player is open to see if it can be disabled - I don't have it, so I can't give you instructions. If you can't find Quicktime in either location, there is something strange going on because it should be.
If you can't find it under plugins, also check in Applications to see if Quicktime Player is installed and post back. Also, do a search for Quicktime and Quicktime plugins.
I am not sure if you can just download and install it from the Apple download site or if you'd need to use your install disk to reinstall it from there; if you do not have it installed anywhere, it should be fine to download it - hopefully someone else will be able to confirm this.

  • Can anyone help me with my quicktime player?

im tryin to watch apple movie trailers. and when i click on to watch it. it doesnt work. theres a question mark on the quicktime player. can anyone help me fix this?

Download the following files by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"
    Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Save ALL files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN anything yet.
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove all instances of Flash Player.
Next, run the Installer for other browsers.
Once Flash Player is installed go to: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp
Download BOTH files, the one on the right FIRST by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"... the other by clicking and following the steps to dwonload the FULL ActiveX installer.
