  • Running QuickTime files with no QuickTime player installed

I export keynote files into QuickTime format, but most of my audience might not have QuickTime installed. Is it possible that I somehow create a file that can automatically play that file without having the actual QuickTime player installed? So the player is embedded. I heard windows media player can do this.
    Thanks beforehand.

To clear up a misconception, Windows Media Player can NOT do that. But Windows Media Player is installed by default on all Windows machines in much the same way that QuickTime Player is installed on all Macintoshes.
PowerPoint for Windows can export to a self-running executable, which includes both the PowerPoint show and a viewer for it, but that will only run on a Windows computer.
A better solution may be to provide a download link along with the files so that your audience can install QuickTime; or if you are distributing on disk, include the standalone installer along with your files (Apple has a license available to allow you to do that). Also know that if your audience has iPods, they have QuickTime.

  • Flash Player install help needed; no sound.

I have installed Flash Player 3 times -- followed instructions - checked volume controls - but still no sound; only have video.  It is the latest version. Help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the guidance for what added info is needed to help solve these kinds of problems.  I'm a first-time user of tech forums.  I do believe I solved my problem by unistalling a previous version of Flash Player.  I finally did get sound.  Much appreciate. Bill

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Quicktime Player help

I'm trying to watch videos on apple's web site to no avail. I've tried it on Safari and it says Missing plug-In.
I ten went to FireFox and Google Chrome, both of which say I need to install quicktime player. I know I have both Quicktime 7 and X installed, so i try it out anyway and the download manager says that Quicktime X is already present so the download can't continue.
So, I'm wondering why isn't Apple's site reading the fact that I already have Quicktime downloaded on my Mac?

  • I need help to re set QuickTime player as my default internet Video Player

Does anyone know about QuickTime Player 7 10.0?
I have a Real Player software Program that is set as my internet default video player, I want to change and re set my internet video player as my default QuickTime Player, I don't know how to change and re set my Internet Video player. I noticed that in my QuickTime Player it doesn't have a preferences under the quickTime Player Menu. Does anyone know how I can re set My QuickTime Player as my internet Video default Player?
    Thank You,
    Mrs. Trisha Foster

Sorry, look under the Help menu -> installed plugins (I'm using Firefox and had to keep showing/hiding Safari). As for the other location, don't change anything there (not good to change anything in the Library folders) - I just wanted you to look to see if Quicktime is there or not. If it is, you need to take a look while Real Player is open to see if it can be disabled - I don't have it, so I can't give you instructions. If you can't find Quicktime in either location, there is something strange going on because it should be.
If you can't find it under plugins, also check in Applications to see if Quicktime Player is installed and post back. Also, do a search for Quicktime and Quicktime plugins.
I am not sure if you can just download and install it from the Apple download site or if you'd need to use your install disk to reinstall it from there; if you do not have it installed anywhere, it should be fine to download it - hopefully someone else will be able to confirm this.

  • Can't open Quicktime player after installing

Hi, I did a search and couldn't find this problem being directly addressed so hopefully someone can enlighten me. I had an older version of Quicktime on my computer that just stopped working properly (it may have been after I upgraded Internet Explorer), so I uninstalled it from my computer, downloaded the Quicktime installer for 7.1.5.120 and went though the installation process. It seemed to install OK, said to click the finish button, and there was an icon on my desktop (though nothing in the system tray).
When I tried to double click on the Quicktime Player icon I would get the window hourglass for a few seconds and then nothing. It won't open the player (and the same thing happens if I try to open through the program menu). I tried to double click on a .mov file, which then opens up the internet browser for some reason, followed by warnings from Windows that it has restricted the page from running active scripts, and if I overide the warning it opens a page with a broken quictime logo, then says there's been an error and explorer needs to shut down.
I've done complete uninstalls, even manually deleting left over files and then reinstalled with no luck. If anyone has any suggestions I would be appreciative! Thanks

In c:\documents and settings it shows a default user folder and an owner folder. When I turn on the computer it shows Owner. I'm the only one who uses the computer, so I don't need to sign on or anything. Do I need to delete the default user folder? Thanks for taking the time to help me!

    EDIT:

'Error 46: Could not load or find the QuickTime ActiveX control.'
    iTunes:
When I click on the iTunes icon on my desktop which was made when I downloaded iTunes 8 from the official apple website after what seemed to be a normal instalation I got this...
    1. Preparing to install
    2. Please wait while windows configures iTunes (takes 9 seconds)
    3. Gathering required information...
    4. Time remaining: 3 seconds
    5. Time remaining: 2 seconds
    6. (then jumps to) Time remaining: 14 seconds
    7. You must restart your system for the configuration changes made to iTunes to take effect. Click Yes to restart now or No if you plan to manually restart later.
    *Then this happens*
    1. (If I click Yes) Opens the 'Computer' page then restarts my computer (takes longer than usual.
    1. (If I click No) Opens the 'Computer' page and does nothing else. (If I restart my computer manually then nothiing out of the usual seems to happen)
    2. (After restart) If I click the iTunes icon this happens all over again!
    Notes
I have tryed deleting all of the components of the original download and then downloading again three times to see if it helps. But no luck.
Would trying to find an earlyer version of iTunes possibly help? like version 7 or something?
SOON I WILL RECORD WHAT HAPPENS AND POST ON YOUTUBE AND SEE IF THAT HELPS ANYONE THAT MIGHT HAVE A SOLUTION FOR ME.

  • Can anyone help me with my quicktime player?

im tryin to watch apple movie trailers. and when i click on to watch it. it doesnt work. theres a question mark on the quicktime player. can anyone help me fix this?

Download the following files by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"
    Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Save ALL files to your Downloads folder - DO NOT RUN anything yet.
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the UNINSTALLER to remove all instances of Flash Player.
Next, run the Installer for other browsers.
Once Flash Player is installed go to: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp
Download BOTH files, the one on the right FIRST by right clicking and selecting "Save target as"... the other by clicking and following the steps to dwonload the FULL ActiveX installer.

  • Need QUICK! help for Quicktime Pro Install

I came in this morning knowing I'd be pressed for time, and that I needed to convert a WMA file to an MP3 for a meeting. I decided to use Quicktime Pro 7. I made the purchase and have been trying for a 45 minutes of precious time to get it installed but am running into one bit of crap instructions after another. First, the instructions say to go into my system preferences and click the Quicktime icon. There isn't one. Next it says to download Quicktime 7 and load Quicktime Pro as an upgrade to that. Downloaded QT7, installed and it went off into space somewhere. Not in my applications folder.
I'm running out of time. Why can't this just be an install process like any other normal program intead of making a person crazy?
    Any help would be appreciated.
Runing OS 10.6.8 on a hugely capable system.
    Cayce

Oh, I think I get it now. So Quicktime Pro 7 will never show up as Quicktimje Pro 7, as advertised, but will be cleverly hidden within Quicktime Player 7 so that after it is actually loaded, it will still be called Quicktime Player 7, and there will be no visually recognizeable evidence that the install was successful, unless you've experienced this before and know what to drill down & look for, which rarely is the case when a person purchases and installs a software for the first time.
Both the Registration and About windows will display the  normal QT 7 icon with the "Pro" text embedded to indicate QT 7 is properly keyed for "Pro" use, as well as, "un-greying" the "Pro" specific options in various menu windows when content is loaded/a player window has been opened. As  explained on various Apple web pages, purchasing the "Pro" key does not add any new codecs and does not download any new software. It only turns on the track/layer editing and conversion features for direct access from within QT 7 without having to purchase a full editing app like FCP. This is the way classic QT has worked for the last decade since I started using v5.
Thanks for the kind and thorough assist, though, Jon. I'll manage from here. Curious about the South Jersey Apple Users Group. I'm up at the northern border, in the lakes region, town called Ringwood.
The SJAUG primarily hosts membership throughout "South" Jersey (i.e., from Burlington County to Cape May County.) In the past, when membership was more active, we actually held meetings twice a month (Medford leas and Pine Hill School) to host a split membership. The Video SIG used to be quite active but between the split meetings, dwindling membership, aging membership (many have been members for 10-15 years and at 66, I am considered one of the younger members), and closing of the Pine Hill meeting venue (Pine Hill meeting members now usually go to the MUGSNJ at Gloucester County College), our membership and SIG activities have greatly been reduced over the last few years. In any case, we normally meet the third Saturday of each month at the Meford Leas facility just off Rt 70 in Medford. (http://www.sjaug.org)
I have not visited user groups farther north than the Princeton area. Would invite you down to the next meeting (26 Jan '13) but I'm sure there are closer groups if you are interested. Retired, my video/QT interests are promarily centered on the creating and maintaining of my own personal video library for iTunes/TV/Airvideo management/streaming of content.

  • 10.6.4 - QuickTime Player and Quick Look Helper are both crashing

Since upgrading to 10.6.4, I can't start QuickTime player (it crashes with EXCBADACCESS immediately after launch). In addition, Quick Look Helper also crashes when it tries to preview video files. I'm sure that the two are related.
It happens both with my account and a guest account.

  • I have quicktime player 10 installed on my mac and it is considered the (default) player.  How can I get my Quicktime 7 Pro as my default player?

I have quicktime player 10 installed on my mac and it is considered the (default) player.  How can I get my Quicktime 7 Pro as my default player?  When I downloaded video from my phone, I couldn't hear the sound because Quicktime player 10 automatically opened the file and there was no sound,  When I opened the file in quicktime 7 Pro, the audio was fine.  I would prefer to have all movie files open automatically using my Pro version.  Any suggestions?  When I trashed the QT player 10 and clicked on the .3g2 movie file, it didn't automatically open with QT 7 Pro.  Instead a window opened wanting to convert the file to Flash.  I don't want that to happen.

    Try This...
Highlight the file you want Quicktime 7 Pro to open -
Goto File > Get Info or (CMD I)
In the Get Info window, scroll down to "Open with:"
Select the player you want to open the music file.
Click the "Change All..." button if you want to
"Use this application to open all documents like this.”

Thank you for your quick reply.  I'll give it a try.  Another workaround I figured out last night is to right click the video, click show file, and then double click the file. Quicktime the plays the video.
