Quicktime plays multiple selected files in separate windows

How can I get Quicktime to place a group of selected video files in que for viewing in one player window (with the option to move back and forth between the different videos) like WMP

Use QuickTime Player 7. There's a setting to open movies in new players which you can disable. It's an optional install on your Snow Leopard disc, but requires a Pro license (if you have one, it should have been automatically installed).

I'm not seeing option to open a link to pdf file in separate window. Is it possible? On this page I would like visitors to be able to open the pdf while continuing to listen to the audio file that's associated with it (audio clips towards bottom of page)

Okay, so where are you publishing your site to - MobileMe or an external server such as GoDaddy?
If to GoDaddy, then to upload directly to the server, as I explained in my previous post, then you would need to use Cyberduck and upload your pdf file to your public_html file or whichever file you need to upload to - it could also be 'www', or 'htdocs'. Upload your pdf file here and then go back to iWeb and create the link to your pdf file by linking to it directly on the server - don't hyperlink to a file, but to your external server, which will be http://www.domain.com/name of your pdf file.pdf. This is all you need do and then select open in a new page and your link to your document has been created.
If publishing to MobileMe, then you need to upload the pdf file directly to your iDisk. You would then make the link to the url http://web.me.com/username/sitename/name of pdf file.pdf and select to open in a new page.
That is what is meant by uploading to a server and you then have to create the link directly to where your file has been uploaded to and not the file itself. You need to enter the external url which will be your domain name or your MobileMe url, plus the username and site name.

Play multiple published files

I had been using Jesse Wardens's excellent Captivate Player ver 1.2 for quite a while to play multiple published files. Now that I upgraded to CP5 the player no longer works - I'm sure because of the action script version change.
Does anyone know of a similar player that will allow the student to basically navigate multiple published .swf files like Jesse's?

Hi kmarty,
did you try the Captivate own Aggregator file creator.
File > New > Aggregator Project
Add several files and play them.
If you set in the first of the imported files the TOC to overlay, it will be available for all files.
Plus the names in the Aggregator list can be changed and these are shown in the TOC too.

Can Keynote play a slideshow in a separate window?

Is it at all possible to run a Keynote (latest 09) slideshow in a separate window (a classic moveable window, just like a QuickTime or Safari window) on ones monitor screen? Currently, it looks like the only way to run any slideshow is if it takes up the entire screen.

How do i play multiple audio files simultaneously using AudioQueue?

I've basically gutted what I don't need from the "Speakhere" sample app and I'm left with something I can use to play audio files. I converted wav files to aiff and then renamed the aiff to caf (Just in case this matters). I even tried shortening the files to 10 seconds long, but no difference. I am able to play files singly, but am unable to play more than one file at the same time. When I try to play multiple files, the first one plays correctly but the second will play a horrible long beeping sound. Sounds almost like a buzzer and sometimes will sound like a high pitched beep. My code has all the audio components like the speakhere app (AudioQueueObject, AudioPlayer, AudioViewController). I've changed the AudioViewController to be just my "AudioController" class where when I initialize, I pass in the name of the file and it replaces this line of code:
CFStringRef fileString = (CFStringRef) [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@/Recording.caf", self.recordingDirectory];
with this:
CFStringRef fileString = (CFStringRef) [NSString stringWithFormat: fileName, self.recordingDirectory];
Any suggestions? I've been yanking my hair out trying to figure this out and I simply can't. I'm about ready to pull an "Office Space" but instead of beating up a printer, I'm going to destroy my macbook.
*NOTE: I have only tried this in the simulator, but I'm assuming it will do this on the real thing so I haven't bothered to try.

Unless I'm mistaken, you need one AudioQueue object for each audio file you want to play. In one of my apps, I basically copied the code provided in the [AudioQueue programming guide|http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/MusicAudio/Concep tual/AudioQueueProgrammingGuide/AQPlayback/chapter4_section_1.html#//appleref/doc/uid/TP40005343-CH3-SW1] and made a wrapper object for playback. So then you can do something like this:
MyAudioManager *manager1 = [[MyAudioManager alloc] initWithFile:@"file1.caf"];
[manager1 play];
MyAudioManager *manager2 = [[MyAudioManager alloc] initWithFile:@"file2.caf"];
[manager2 play];
// etc...
If you want to play short files (~10s or less), you can use the simpler AudioServices functions along with SystemSoundID's. It will work fine if you have playback from AudioQueue and AudioServices at the same time.

Affect multiple selected files in Filmstrip

I get so aggravated when I'm in the Develop module and want to copy (ctrl-shift-C) and paste (ctrl-shift-V) develop settings from one image to multiple other images and realize (yet again) that the Paste is only applied to the "most" selected image. Who's idea was "most selected" image?? Why should I have to change to the Library module (Grid view) in order to paste DEVELOP settings to multiple files.
PLEASE change this so that I can copy and then paste the settings (e.g., white balance) to a multiple selection of files in the Filmstrip without having to go to a different module.

HT3775 Why won't Quicktime play a .mpeg file?

I have a .mpeg file and can not get it to play. I am so frusterated!

Try installing Perian. It helps quicktime play lots of different formats.
Or, try VLC. It plays lots of video formats.
mpeg isn't one specific format. The video can be encoded in lots of different formats and still be called an mpeg. You have to find something that can play the particular codec that was used to encode the video.

I have a simple service that opens a file in an app that renames the file. (the app was created with A Better Finder Rename) It works when a single file is selected, but if I select multiple files it only renames the last file that was selected and ignores the rest.
How can I get it to open all of the selected files in one go? If I drag a bunch of selected files onto the app, it renames all of them as expected. That's the behavior I want from the Service.

Xcode 3.1.3 Files in separate windows?

is it possible to open files of a project in separate windows in Xcode ?

This behavior is controlled in two places:
1) Locate the Grouped icon, second from the right in the top toolbar of each editor window. Click the icon so that it changes to Ungrouped,
2) In Xcode->Preferences->General, under Editing: Uncheck _Open counterparts in same editor_.
The first setting affects all editor windows. The second setting only affects pairs like .h/.m, .h/.c, etc.

then in select statement u have to use like...
select-options: so_doknr for draw-doknr.
select doknr dokst from draw into table i_draw where doknr in so_doknr.

How do I play a movie in a separate window and why will my movie not float on top?

I like to watch movies in a smaller, separate window that floats on top of any other windows. Since I installed all of the updates, I can not get this to happen. I read and thought that if you click on the artwork it would launch a separate window but it will launch a music file. Help please!

You'll need some sort of additional software. You can still get iDVD by purchasing the iLife '11 retail box (it's available from the Apple Store or probably any Apple dealer). Or you can get other software such as Roxio's Toast. There's also a simple free application you can try:

Quicktime playing multiple videos question

Hello Everyone.
This is probably more of a html/java/flash based question but I thought I would start here as it revolves around the QT Player.
I have a webpage

On this page is the QT Player.
Beneath the player are 3 buttons. When a viewer clicks one of those buttons I want it to load the respective video related to that button into the player without the browser loading a new page. Is this possible?
Can someone steer me the right direction? Or help me out? I'm not even sure how to google search this. I tried Multiple Videos, 1 QT player Web - and I didn't get anything that helped.

I've been having this truly obnoxious problem ever since I installed Lion. Whenever I open a Quicktime video or a preview jpeg (and sometimes a Word document) - the last two or three documents I've viewed in these programs also open.
This is the normal default mode for Lion which now "remembers" what documents (files, movies, images, etc) were opn when you last "Quit" each application. Either learn to close the documents before "quitting" the app or turn this feature off. (I.e., deselect the "System Preferences > Personal > General > Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps" option.)

QuickTime plays .avi DivX sound, black blank window

I've got issues...
Before my Quicktime worked fine with all video file formats.
Suddenly, it stopped playing certain files correctly.
I got the latest DivX and Xvid codecs, as well as well as
that Perian software. Still, When I try to play certain DivX
.avi files, Quicktime will play sound, but no picture - just
a black blank window. Instead, DivX player 2.0 for macintosh
works fine.
I'd still like to use Quicktime. What should I get / do?

Perian asks you to get rid of similar codecs. Try moving out the codecs except Perian and try again.
