Quicktime plug-in not working in Safari

I've tried everything I know to get this working. Deleted prefs, re-installed QuickTime, etc. I can't even get QT movies on the Apple site to play. They work with FireFox, but not Safari.
Running OS X 10.5.1, newest QT, etc. What on earth is going on?!

I had the same problem with Quicktime. When I clicked on a link, I got only the audio portion and no video. If I clicked the link a second time the video would play. I went through the whole process of downgrading my version of Quicktime with no satisfactory result. I read your comment and followed your instruction of removing the the Quicktime web plugin and now all is well. Thanks for the help.

  • Adobe Flash plug-in not working in Safari

I was trying to use s broadcasting stations player, and it asked for installation of a newer version of Flash. I have downloaded and installed the newest V 16 of Flash but it does not work on the broadcaster's player. However I can play back the content perfectly on Chrome. This therefore seems to be a Safari problem. I have Safari version 8.0.3 (10600.33.18) installed on an iMac 27" Retina 5K running Mac OS X 10.10.2.
    Can anyone help?

    Are Plug-ins allowed?
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.
If that is not the problem,
        Uninstall Flash

  • WMV website plug-in not working in Safari

    Hey there everyone,
Okay, well, i've been using Safari and Camino as web browsers on and off and they are each very great browsers.
Though, there is this one website that won't allow me to see streaming video content in WMV format, neither with Safari or Camino.
For a college class lesson that i am taking at the moment, i need to view this website on my mac but just can't, it won't let me!!
Here is the website: http://tv7.co.kr/ (yes, it is in korean, so just to warn you if you get language pop-up's)
I have tried this website on Windows XP and the streaming content works just fine, plays really well. On my mac, i have the latest version of Flip4Mac installed, quicktime, and flash all installed. I also start Camino and Safai in Rosetta too. I did talk to an apple tech and he recommened me to download the Windows Media Player, but i didn't want to since i know it's not supported anymore. That's why i came here so please help if you guys can, i appreciate all your all help.
Thanks again and hope to hear from you all soon.

Just a comment from a "regular" here at these pages.
Your post is one of the best examples I've ever viewed!
Clear explanation of the issue. Even a link so others can test.
A knowledge of your computer and the issues forced by the Intel processor. Such a breath of fresh air just reading it.
    Advice?
Skip the college and get a job. You're already more qualified than most.
    More advice?
Punctuation. And slang. And, since you're always special to your folks, use a capitol i when you refer to yourself.
WMP formats will always be a bother on a Mac running OS X.
Your machine allows both OS's. Never any issues until you try to convert the file.

Everything works fine in FF4 or on an older Mac with Safari 4.1.3 OSX & 10.4.1. I haven't changed anything on the site, it's worked perfectly for years.
    Any ideas?

  • Quicktime browser non- kiosk mode not working in safari 4

    Hi,
The downward arrow containing save as option (non-kiosk mode) next to the quicktime bar is not showing in safari 4.
The only content that still has the arrow is Apple movie trailer website. I thought that was because Safari was in Beta but now it's out of Beta, I still don't see it.
Can somebody tell me whether that's a bug or that's intentional. That's the only reason I got quicktime pro!!!!
    Sample link: http://azzedine.lakhdar.free.fr/dewplayer/Sirene.mp3
    Thanks,
    Ross

I have this problem too; the arrow on the right that allows saving is missing. This occurs with most files, but particularly with .mp3 files. I have some embedded .m4v files on my Web site that have the arrow and they save just fine. Of course, most of the time this turns out not to be a problem, as I can just right-click the link and select "Download linked file" or "Download linked file as . . ."

The instillation says that it is successful, however when using Safari I'm informed I do not have flash player installed. When I check the hard drive, flash player in no where to be found. I have tried all of the troubleshooting from the Adobe website, and I am still stumped. I was able to get the Flash Player to run in firefox 5.0, but not Safari.
Please Help!!!! I have searched the discussion boards for days now in my spare time and have not been able to find an answer.
I am not the most savvy person with computers, what am I missing here??

    In my Library/Internet Plug-ins folder I have a file named Flash Player.plugin (it's 22.8 MB however, not 23.9mb) and another named flashplayer.xpt (it's 4 KB however, not856 bytes).
I am unable to open the Plug-Ins menu (the browser pops up but wont load)...is there another way to check for Shockwave Flash?? When I do a search for "Shockwave" on my hard drive I do find a plug-in named "DirectorShockwave.plugin" (76 KB)
Also...The "Open using Rosetta" checkbox was already unchecked

  • Adobe Flash Player does not work with Safari. What can I do?

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro, Retina, 15 inch, late 2013,  2 GHz Intel Core i7, using OS X 10.9.4. I have installed Adobe Flash Player. In my System Preference, in the advanced settings, it is set to install updates also tells me that I have the NPAPI Plug-in (version 14.0.0.145) installed but not the PPAPI Plug-in. Is this the reason why it does not work with Safari (keeps telling me to download the app, which I did but still does not work)? Is there any way I could fix the problem? Please, help.
    Thanks.

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • Why do aria-live="assertive" not working in safari 6?

I have a .Net Web Application where the requirement is to notify the user whenever there is an automatic change on the Page. For that I have used <div> tag with role="alert" and aria-live="assertive" attributes. The Feature is not working with safari 6. An already available discussion says the feature should work with Safari 6. Please refer link https://discussions.apple.com/message/19537778#19537778
But it seems that the Fix is still not available with safari 6.
Please suggest if something is missing in the implemenation or some alternate way or workaround available.

  • Java 7 update 17 not working in safari

I am just setting up a new laptop, and installed the latest java 7 update 17. It works fine on Firefox, but will not work in Safari. Before you tell me "dont use java", I have to. My works website uses java for download, so I must have it (until we move to Aspera).
I have checked both the system Java version (latest, and enabled) and the browsers settings. Java is enabled in all places it should be, yet I cannot get it to work in Safari. The Java website even tells me it cant even verify if Im running java or not. This is very annoying.
    So to recap:
Safari: Enable Plugins, Enable Java and Enable Javascript is turned on.
Block Pop Ups is turned off.
Java 7 Update 17 has been installed on this computer.
    Java:
System Tells me Im running the recommended version.
Security: Is set to HIGH, I even turned it lower at one point.
Ive repaired permissions, rebooted, etc. but no luck.
    Any ideas?

I work for a financial institution that uses Java for the online banking system. It works amazing as we have almost a 0% fraud rate. I don't hate Java like the rest of the world...anyway...on to my question lol
I have heard quite a few of our customers say that they are having a "Blocked Plug-In" today rather than the normal "Missing Plug-In" message. Has Apple blocked Java again or is it some wierd setting? This is the message our customers were receiving when Apple blocked it last time. However, our customers couldn't use Firefox either and this time they can. I haven't seen any news reporting it yet. It's imperative for our customers...I wish Apple would just leave it alone. If I purchase a $2500 computer, leave it alone and let me control it. Don't babysit me. This is why I will never ever ever buy a Mac. Not a fan of communism.
