Quicktime Pro 7 Screen Green

Why do I get a green screen when I playback clips and movie trailers from the Apple site?

OMG!!  YOU'RE a genius!  Works PERFECTLY!!  Every QT movie I have plays perfectly - NOW - when I have the Graphics set to "Integrated Only".  If I switch to "Discrete Only" - they FAIL, meaning I see the green screen.  Switch back to "Integrated Only" they're perfect again.
Thank you Mike.  I don't know how you guys do this!  Just curiously, what exactly am I doing by switching?  I don't know anything about Graphics cards!  My MacBook Pro is about 1 1/2 years old, It's a 2.66Ghz Intel Core 7 with 8 gig RAM.  For Final Cut Pro X I changed it's configuration.  (You'd be proud of me!) I have a 120gig SSD drive AND moved the 'older' TB drive I swapped to to where the DVD drive is.  So I have no DVD but 2 HD in my Mac.  (I guess all that is irrelavent, though!)
I didn't even know I have 2 graphics cards in my Mac!
What's the downside to keeping it set to "Integrated Only"?  Can I leave it set to that?
Thanks very very much again.  These chat boards are just terrific!

  • Quicktime Pro Screen recording

I have purchased and downloaded quicktime pro but when I click on file there is only movie and audio recording. Screen recording is not there. Can anyone help?

    Can anyone help?
No. As indicated by its absence in the product description, screen recording is not a feature of QT 7. Use QT X instead.

    Did you remove Quicktime X?
On a normal install Quicktime 7 is installed in the Utilities folder and Quicktime Pro in the main Applications folder.
You will need to reinstall OS X to get Quicktime X back if you have deleted it.
I notice yor profile says 10.5.8. Quicktime X is only available on 10.6 and above.

  • Can you record a video from your desktop screen in HD with QuickTime Pro ?

I need to play a video on my computer and record it in the highest possible quality. I came across a program called CamStudio that says it can record your desktop in HD - so I wasnt sure if QuickTime Pro 7 can do that as well.
If someone is also familiar with what kind of computer or monitor i should play my video off of for best quality - i welcome answers to that as well.

QuickTime Player Pro can't record the screen.
QuickTime X can record the screen (but only all of it and not just a window). It's a part of Snow Leopard.

  • White screen after Quicktime Pro 7 captures

I use an automator script in combination with iCal and Quicktime Pro 7.6.6 to capture video content overnight from a commercial satellite. Most mornings when I wake the screen from sleep (I don't put the processor to sleep) Quicktime Pro has successfully capture the program, but the video window that's open on the screen is pure white (just within Quicktime - the remainder of the desktop is normal). Pressing play will begin to play the video; you just can't see anything except white, though you can hear the audio. I have to quit Quicktime and then open the video document again to see the perfectly normal video. Same is true of any other video file on my hard drive. If I don't quit and restart Quicktime, all I get is a white video window. I'm wondering if this is related to the fact that my iMac 24 screen is asleep when the capture process is taking place.
    Any suggestions?

After upgrading to 7.1, i noticed this problem as well. The sound plays fine, but all i see is a white video. This only happened for videos using an H.264 Decoder or MPEG4 decompressor (.mp4, .m4v, most .mov files). However, the picture was fine while playing any other file type (.avi, .mpg, .mpeg, .swf).
I then figured out a way to fix this problem. If you go into A/V controls and move any of the four sliders under "Video" (Brightness, Color, Contrast, Tint), the video will play fine. It doesn't matter which slider/how many you move, nor does it matter how much you move the slider. If at least one of the sliders isn't centered, the video will play. The only problem with this is that you have to do it every time you watch a video, which can get annoying.
Also, after reading this thread, I disabled Direct3D video acceleration as mentioned above, which worked wonderfully! Thank you!
So, really the only purpose of this post is to provide more information so Apple can fix it in their next release of QT.

  • Quicktime Pro 7: Screen Recording is missing

    Hello
I downloaded Quicktime Pro 7 to be able to record my screen.
The problem: there is no function "New Screen Recording" appearing!
    There are only these functions:
    New Player
    New Movie Recording
    New Audio Recording
    New Screen Recording ist missing!
    What can I do?
    Thx for help
    Christine

Wait what do you mean Q T 7 whats that
Classic version of QT based on a 32-bit structure embedded in the operating system as opposed to Apple's completely re-written version of QuickTime now under development using 64-bit embedded structures compatible with QT X Players v10.0, 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3 on a Mac. Both players can be installed on and used by Snow Leopard and later operating systems which have dual QT structures embedded within Mac OS X. However, only the QT 7 player can be keyed for QT 7 "Pro" use and is the player about which the original poster here was asking.

  • Trying to export movie from QuickTime Pro to AVI and getting white screen

    Hi there,
I am trying to export a movie from QuickTime Pro to an an AVI file. It goes through the process as if everything has worked, but when I open the finished file, all I get is a white screen with no audio or picture.
I need to save lectures from school from the school website to my computer so that I can watch them when I do not have internet access. QuickTime gives me the option to save the video straight from the web, but as soon as I turn off my AirPort it tells me that I need internet to continue watching the movie..
I need some way to get the files to my computer. Any suggestions?

AVI is just a container ... specifically, which codec are you using when exporting? And why export to AVI?

That usually means that your system doesn't have the codec installed needed to view the video, but your web browser is using a plugin that does. What format are the web videos? Flash?

  • Quicktime Pro - Split Screen Question??

The help section says that you can edit a video to have a "split screen" - meaning that I can import a video into an existing video, and have them playing side by side (or one on top of the other). I have been able to do a picture in picture (however not playing at the same time) - but can't seem to find the correct instructions!
I am trying to show two athletes running the same 40-yard dash - comparing them either side by side, or with one video on top of the other - at the same time.
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated! (iMovie cannot do this!)
    Thanks!
    Kim

This is how I do it using iMovie 6:
Organize the video clips and/or stills that you want to superimpose on to your main video clip, by having these in separate, individual iMovie projects (no matter how small). It helps if these are in the exact length/time you want later.
Now start with the clip in your iMovie project on to which you want to superimpose one of more smaller video clips or stills. Lets call it Main Clip. Export this (share) to Quicktime Pro in DV (full quality). make sure it has the same aspect as before (Quicktime tends to default to 4:3. If you want 16:9, read on).
In Quicktime, with this project open, select File ~ Open File. Select the iMovie file (in your movies folder) of the first clip/still you want superimposed. This will open in its own QT window. Select Edit ~ copy. If it is a movie clip then select all ~ copy (or you will only get one frame!). Switch back to the Main Clip window, and click in the scroll bar where you want the extra clip/still to appear. Choose Edit ~ Add to Movie.
You can repeat this as many times as you like, if you want to build a 'Video Wall', i.e. have several superimposed clips/stills on the same Main Clip.
Do not worry that the new clip overlaps or covers up the Main Clip, at this stage.
Choose Window ~ Show Movie Properties. The Properties Dialogue appears.
You will see a list of video (and audio) tracks. Track one will be the Main Clip, track 2 your new added (superimposed) clip. Click track 2, then click visual settings. From the Scaled Size pop-op menu, choose percent. Then type 50 into the first box. If Preserve Aspect Ratio is turned on you won't need to type 50 into the second box. You have made the pasted footage appear at one quarter its original size. The inset is now hugging the top-left corner of the Main Clip. If you want, you can type numbers into the Offset Boxes to shove it away from that corner (there are 72 pixels to the inch).
If your original Main Clip was required in 16:9, unclick (de-select) Preserve Aspect Ratio, and type in the relevant numbers in the two boxes, in Video Track 1.
    PAL (for Europe):
    Standard DV (4:3) 788 x 576
    DV Widescreen (16:9) 1050 x 576
    NTSC (for the USA):
    Standard DV (4:3) 720 x 528
    DV Widescreen (16:9) 874 x 480
This will not affect video track 2, but if that is also wanted in 16:9 repeat for that track.
You can superimpose, 3, 4, or more such 'overlaps' on the same clip, and spend a happy afternoon tapping away for each track in the Offset Boxes until you have got them all in the right place! You can even overlap them, if you can remember (or note down - hire a secretary to take notes) which track you want on top etc.
Save the completed QT file. Import the completed file into a new iMovie project. Import this into the original iMovie project, substituting the old clip you copied to QT as Main Clip for the new fancy clip you have made.
    Have fun!

  • Where is a Screen Recording in QuickTime Pro?

Where is a Screen Recording in QuickTime Pro?

Your signature says Mac OS X 10.5.8. I am not sure that QuickTime Player screen recording is available in 10.5.8. It may have started in 10.6.
If it works on your system, in QuickTime Player you will find these commands under the File menu:
    New Movie Recording
    New Audio Recording
    New Screen Recording
Edit: Oh, you're asking about QuickTime Pro. Not sure, sorry.

  • I can't find the screen recording in the QuickTime Pro I just bought and downloaded

    Hi everyone out there!
I just bought QuickTime Pro becuase I was told it had a simple to use screen recording then editing process.  I have a Windows 7 OS and would love to figure out where this feature is.
    Thanks!
    MsNerdyBlond

Mac version yes you can do this .... Windows version no you can't .... Of course you'd half expect mac version of QuickTime to be a little more function rich eh !? :)
Good news is that there's heaps of good free screen recorders for windows .... Try this

  • So I have to upgrade to QuickTIme Pro to get full screen capability?!?

I'm new to macs and love it. I am a little disappointed though that, unless I'm mistaken, you have to pay for QuickTIme Pro to get the full screen capability Windows Media gives for free. Is this really the case?

The Pro upgrade allows full screen playback of "local" (on your computer) files. Those you view in a browser window can't be played at full screen size until you save them (another Pro feature).
WMP opens any Web based link in its own Player window instead of the browser. Web authors (those that know) can do the same with a QuickTime file. These files can also be coded to be Presentation files that play full screen.
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/B/
Some QT files are coded to be played in iTunes which does allow full screen playback (including any local file you add to its Library).
So. You don't need QT Pro to play local files at full screen. Just add them to iTunes.
If you wish to easily save files you view online you'll need the Pro upgrade.

  • Windows Quicktime Pro problems - no video screens [under "file"]

I have downloaded and installed Quicktime Pro and keyed in correct registration codes. [Quicktime 7 Pro is displayed] When in Apple Quicktime Pro- I am unable to see any kind of video screen data under "file" - Audio info is there [New audio recording]- but no video screens of any kind. I thought that maybe Quicktime Pro could not recognize my web camera [Panasonic]
I have tried: switching firewire cards[3 others] and switched around quicktime preferences ie - Video to Safe mode/Direct X - still no change.
When I connect camera, Digital Video device on computer acknowledges that there is a camera and gives me 4-5 software choices ie - Adobe, Windows Media Player but Quicktime Pro is not one of them.
Help ! - Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    thanks

  • Encoding with an Alpha Channel Using Quicktime Pro

I am pulling my hair out trying to encode a green screen video that will play on a website so the website shows through the transparent alpha channel.  Problem is when I encode to .flv or .mp4 the alpha channel is never retained even when I check "encode alpha channel" in the .flv export setting window.  I have downloaded a trial version of Sorenson Squeeze and even that couldn't retain the alpha channel.
The video I am using was exported out of Final Cut Pro 7 using Quicktime Conversion using the Animation Million of Colors PLUS codec and when I test that it does indeed have a transparent alpha channel so something is happening when Quicktime Pro is encoding it.
Can anyone recommend a way to export a .mp4 or .flv with the alpha channel?
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give.
    Benjamin Jones

You can also export a RGB video (without alfa) with any codec, and a second pass with obly alpha - it depends if you need that as a final export (then use codec than can export alfa) or intermediate format (then you can use image sequence or 2 pass video).
