Quicktime Pro crashes when I attempt to export

Hello,
I'm using Quicktime Pro version 7.6.6 and I've recently been experiencing this problem when I attempt to export a file from the application.
I'll click 'export' from the file menu, and quickly after the application crashes and displays the following message:
'Quicktime Player 7 quit unexpectedly while using the FLV plugin'
I've removed the 'perian' plugin which I thought it might be refering to, but it still crashes and gives me this meesage each time.
Any ideas how I might resolve this problem?

  • HELP!!!  Quicktime Pro crashes when exporting

I've had no problems until today. All of a sudden, when I export a movie from quicktime, it crashes when I click on "settings" of the codec. So I basically open the file, go to "File>Export" and click on "Options". I then click on "Settings" and boom...quicktime disappears with your usual windows error sound. Like I said, I've had no problems up till today so I don't know what I could of done to cause this. I'm running Quicktime Pro 7.2 on Windows XP Pro 64bit. I've tried uninstalling it and tried older versions...nothing seems to work. My Sorenson Squeeze software also will not load quicktimes which I believe is related to this problem. Any ideas?

Sorry to hear you are having the same problem but I'm glad its just not me. I seriously don't know what I could have done to cause this. Some sort of bug or virus going around? I've heard of quicktime being hacked in the past by a worm which causes it to crash so I'm wondering if that's what's happening. It does suck you can't really call Apple about it.
Its becoming increasingly difficult these days to talk to a human about technical issues. If you do get one on the phone, its some support person getting paid min. wage who just puts you on hold forever as they look up your problem in a generic list of "help" files. I don't want knowledge base support...I want one on one support with a trained programmer who knows how to fix your problems!

  • Quicktime Pro crashes when trying to save file

I just quicktime pro, and so far it keeps crashing on me when I try to save a video file. Here are the steps:
    1. Open a video file (m4v)
    2. Overlay text on the first few seconds of the video
    3. Save video
    4. CRASH!
I'm not sure if this helps, but I got the following debug dump. Not sure if it's helpful.
Please help! I have the latest version of QT Pro.

Drat ... so much for subtlety ...
Right, let's scrape all the QuickTime files out and reinstall from scratch.
First, let's download and save a "standalone" QuickTime installer to your hard drive (don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet). Get the version that doesn't mention iTunes:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Next, we'll make sure we've got your *Pro Key* secured. (Uninstalling QuickTime will remove the Pro Key, and we'll have to reenter it in the Register Tab after reinstalling QuickTime.)
Head into your QuickTime, preferences and take a note of precisely how the Key *and the name in the "Registered to" field* appear. (I've been known to take and print out a screenshot of the Register tab, in order to be quite sure of the precise details of both those things.) Don't tell us what your Key is.
Now, head into your "Uninstall a program" and uninstall QuickTime.
After the uninstall completes, we'll clean up any leftover QuickTime program files on the PC. How we do that will depend on whether you've got a 32-bit or 64-bit version of 7.
    *With a 32-bit 7*
    (1) Open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on.
    (2) Open the Program Files folder.
    (3) Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it still exists there) and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    (4) Delete the QuickTime and QuicktimeVR files located in the C:\Windows\system32 folder (if they still exist there). Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (5) Right-click on the Recycle Bin and on the shortcut menu, click Empty Recycle Bin.
    (6) Restart your computer.
    *With a 64-bit 7*
    1) Open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on.
    (2) Open the Program Files (x86) folder.
    (3) Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it still exists there) and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    (4) Delete the QuickTime and QuicktimeVR files located in the C:\Windows\sysWOW64 folder (if they still exist there). Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (5) Right-click on the Recycle Bin and on the shortcut menu, click Empty Recycle Bin.
    (6) Restart your computer.
After the PC restarts, don't open any applications. Disconnect from the internet and/or your network, and switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Reinstall QuickTime by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Now launch QuickTime. Go into your QuickTime preferences, and reenter your name and Key *precisely as they were prior to the uninstall.* Click apply. You should see "QuickTime 7 Pro" appear in the Tab.
... now let's try giving the export another shot. Any better luck this time?

  • Quicktime Pro crashes when I try to save movies

I just bought a new macbook pro yesterday. Upgraded from Quicktime 7 with registration key to QTPro for sole purposes of converting my flip camcorder files from AVI to something recognizable in IMOVIE '08 (apple doesn't seem to support AVI???).
I am now able to open AVI in QTpro, but it crashes when I try to save or save as or anything really.
    Desperately seeking help. Thanks

  • IMovie crashing when I attempt to export

Attempting to export an HD project which is about 10 1/2 minutes long.  had no problem exporting previous projects that had audio inserted also.  this is a more simple project, just longer.  i am using a macbook with OS X Version 10.5.8;  Processor 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Memory 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. currently have 38GB of hard drive space available.

no solution, apple?  i guess it's hard to admit you have a bug in your program.  hard to admit you screwed up? just dead silence on this question?

  • I am getting quicktime error 50 when I attempt to export a retimed project in fcpx to youtube. I mix and match retime rates. I usaully have no issues. The entire project is retimed.

I am getting quicktime error 50 message when I try to share a project to youtube. I use retime frequently, mixing and matching rates with no issues. I am having trouble with this project. The entire project is retimed ( which  I have done before), it is four minutes and change in length. I used different rates, holds as well, and
secondary storylines ( retimed to match the primary clip rate ). Any suggestions would be helpfull, thank you.

    I figured it out:
FCPX does not support NTFS drives, even with Paragon NTFS working perfectly for everything else on the system.
I guess Apple (just) assumes that nobody will, or should, be using any other filesystem than Mac with FCPX.
I wasted hours looking for a solution, when a better error message besides a misleading "cannot allocate memory" could have been something more useful.
    Not impressed.

  • Quicktime pro crashes with some mp4 in Lion Os X 7.2

    Hallo!
I have upgraded to Lion OS X 7.2 and my Quicktime pro crashes when I try to open files mp4 with MPEG-4 HE AAC V2 audio codec. It used to work fine in Snow Leopard. I removed and installed again, tried to remove Mpeg 2 codec, installed 3ivx, but still the same problem so I removed it again.
I removed everything and installed again but still the same problem with these files.
    Anybody has got such problem?
Any possible solution (apart open them in QT 10 and export in mov)?
    Thanks!

lots of people, did you find the solution?

  • Quicktime crashes when I attempt to view something...HELP!

When I attempt to view a video, via the internet or when I'm using iTunes, I get a standard Microsoft error message saying that the program encountered a problem and needs to close. I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times and have also installed using the standalone link. No matter what the site is, Quicktime always crashes when I try to look at a video. Please help!
      Windows XP

If your computer has multiple accounts on it, QT 7.0.3 has a new bug that only allows the user that installed the software to use it. All other users get a "Cannot load ActiveX control" or other error, including Error 46. The original installer should be able to use, but other features of Pro right now are buggy, including export.
If that doesn't work, try cCleaner (a freeware registry cleaner) that will mop up the registry mess QT is making. You may get a clean install (took me 6 times) but still only works for user that installed the software and no other user.

  • Quicktime crashes when I attempt to play purchased videos

I have recently purchased a few TV shows on iTunes. Just today, iTunes will no longer play these purchased videos: When I try to play an episode itunes either becomes unusable, or outright crashes. Quicktime also crashes when I try to use it to play the files directly.
This isn’t happening on any other videos, including video podcasts. It only happens on the episodes that I have purchased. They do appear to still work on my ipod touch. Can anyone help me with this?

  • Acrobat x pro crashes when I try to flatten a pdf after using typewriter to insert a date

acrobat x pro crashes when I try to flatten a pdf after using typewriter to insert a date.
Has anybody else seen this problem? Is there a fix?
I wanted to download the demo of acrobat XI but it says the previous version will be removed and deactivate the license. That sucks!

Yes it is up to date.
I can use the stamp tool and flatten it after with no problems, but the typewriter tool crashes it upon attempting to flatten.

  • TS1717 iTunes crashes when I attempt to play a movie

After installing the new iTunes update, the program crashes when I attempt to play a movie or TV episode. Any ideas anyone?
    Many thanks.

Sounds like Quicktime is causing the problem.
Try to start Quicktime and see if it works.
If it works then try to run Apple Software Update, to see if Quicktime needs an update.
Else try to install ITunes and Quicktime again (As it is already installed, it will give you the option to do a repair)

  • ITunes crashes when I attempt to sync music to iPhone

This has been an ongoing problem for about a month or so. When I connect my iPhone to my computer it shows in iTunes that it's connected, however, when I hit "sync" iTunes crashes. iTunes updates all of my applications and even allowed me to update my 3GS to iOS4 but it just crashes when it attempts to sync all of my music in iTunes. I've reinstalled iTunes using the step by step article like Apple tech support told me but after that they said it has to be a hardware problem.
Any suggestions? This is driving me nuts.
BTW I am running Vista Home Premium.

Okay ... I've got no +a priori+ reason to suspect the nVidia's at this stage. (There has been a bit of an uptick in unorthodox Radeon issues over the past couple of weeks, but nothing related to nVidia's that I'm aware of.)
More experimentation, if you're still game J.
There have been a few more preference file issues cropping up in recent months than I like. Although I'd usually associate them with something like an iTunes.dll faulting module than a QuickTime component, I've seen them mimic QuickTime component troubles down through the years.
If it's a pref file issue, it should produce a user-account-specific crash. (There's different sets of iTunes pref files in each different Windows user account.) So it's probably worth checking to see if this is user account specific or not.
Create a new user account with full administrative rights on the PC. Log out of your usual account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
Launch iTunes in the new account. The iTunes Setup Assistant will run. When prompted, don't let iTunes add files to the new account. Just let it launch to an empty library.
In iTunes, go "Edit > Preferences". In the "Devices" tab, check the "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically" checkbox. Click OK.
Plug in the iPhone. *(Do not associate the iPhone with the empty library.)*
Do we get another "iTunes has stopped working"? Or does iTunes stay open this time around?

  • Palm Desktop Application (for Mac) crashes when I try to export Datebook module in vCal format

I'm trying to get my Palm OS Datebook data into iCal. When I attempt the export from Palm Desktop in vCal format, the process appears to start; as it nears the end, the entire Desktop application crashes. The file to which I'm allegedly saving the exported info contains no data.
The exact same thing has happened using both Mac OSX 10.4 and 10.5 on two different Macs. I already uninstalled and re-installed the latest version of Desktop software, so that's not the problem.
Any ideas about how to get my Palm Datebook info into iCal, even if it requires a third party application?
    Thanks in advance,

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what this response means: you can just use your Treo as the liason between the 2 when you switch sync softwares.
I didn't know it was possible to sync the Treo to iCal and/or Address Book. Can you tell me how? I'd be happy to switch sync software if I knew what to switch to.
I'm sorry to have to ask you to spell it out a bit more for me, but appreciate in advance your willingness to do so.
