Quicktime pro for ibook, DVD regions, MSN, Word Processing

Just wondering is it worth paying the £20 for pro? Does it help?
Also can u play region 1 DVD's on an ibook (i'm buying from uk, we're region 2)
Which is best messenger for compatibility with MSN and it's functions?
Also other than Microsoft Office, is NeoOffice or Openoffice better?
Thanks for any help

QuickTime Pro will not allow you to play any more types of files than the regular QuickTime Player will play. What the "Pro" option gives you is the editing and exporting features.
You can change your DVD region five times after the original setting. The VideoLAN Media Player does not rely on Apple's region manager and should play a DVD from any region without asking you to change. It is still beta software and it's being written by a school in France, so it's not like regular commercial software, it does have some rough edges. But, it's always played the Region 2 DVDs I have on my Region 1 PowerBook.

    No, it cannot.

  • Will the latest version of Quicktime Pro(for Vista) create a Lime Lapse from a .Mov file (from a video camera)

Will Quicktime Pro for Windows convert a .MOV file to a time lapse?
I have a six hour tripcoming up next weekend, and want turn a full length bullet cam video(native .MOV) of it into a time lapse to post.  I have found tons of info saying QuicktimePro will go from stills to time lapse, but only one reference to converting an existing 1080P .mov file into one.
Any and all help and or direction  will be greatly appreciated!

QuickTime Player Pro can open image sequences and export to an image sequence. This will create a series of still image files, sequentially named to a folder you create.
Open the video and choose Export from the File menu. In the next dialog window choose "Movie to Image Sequence" and then click the "Options" button. Here you set the "frame per second" and the file format (JPEG, PNG, etc.) and other options (like target file size or compression).
Set the FPS to one and one image file per second of video will be extracted and compressed. If your source was 30 fps then the first frame of the first second of the file will be saved. Set the fps to two and the first and fifteenth frame will be captured.
    Some words of cation:
Be sure to create a new folder prior to the export. You don't want hundreds (or thousands) of image files cluttering your desktop.
Edit the source file prior to export to get a "long" shot of the action. Scene breaks will look awkward when they are played at high speed.
Don't make a 1080 file export to image sequence. If your source is 1080 use the View menu to change it to "Half Size". These half size image files will help keep the file size down and help playback on older machines.
Now that you have your folder of images choose "import Image Sequence" from the file menu and set your fps rate back to the same as your source file.
You'll note that file size of your exported/imported project will probably be larger than your source file (and maybe too big to share on the Web). Export it again "Movie to QuickTime Movie" and choose H.264 video codec and set an "average" data rate. This should crunch the file five times smaller.

  • HT2240 I cannot get my registration to work for QuickTime Pro for Mac OS X 10.6.8 using QT 7.6.6

I cannot get my registration to work for QuickTime Pro for Mac OS X 10.6.8 using QT 7.6.6  I have copied and pasted exactly as require (I don't have an organization).  Any suggestions?  Thank you!

There is no QuickTime System Preferences pane in 10.6.8 or later.
You enter the registration under the player 7 menu.

  • QuickTime Pro for Lion?

    With Lion comes new "issues."
I have Final Cut Pro 7 installed on Lion. It works. I want to open QuickTime Pro for all its secondary features like stringing together stills into time-lapse and things like that.
But I can't get QuickTime Pro into Lion at all. Since I have Final Cut Pro 7, I also own QTP, but I can't get it to even show up in Apple's web pages to download.
Obviously, I'm doing something weird. But wha?

Thank you all. When I went to find the right download page, I used Apple's handy search tool and was directed to this address, which jammed things infinitely: (shown in webloc form)
    (the usual)://localhost/Users/peterinova/Desktop/Apple%20-%20Search%20Results%20for% 20'quicktime%20pro'.webloc
    The download went okay.
After a reboot the Registration page showed Apple Pro Apps User and now all seems to be aligned.
Since I had to go back to my install disks to get FCP Studio into Lion, is that where it didn't load?
Anybody else notice that when you edit a reply for, say, simple paragraph breaks to keep the text from jamming up, that the edited version jumps back to a non-spaced condition right before reposting it as jammed up?
Hence my spacer periods in the lines above.
Where do I report a bug in the Support Community page department?

Adobe Premiere and Encoder cant see it; has anyone had troubles and
how do i fix this problem..help. I am try to use the apple codecs for
    digital editing "apple prores 422".

    Hi Gary
thanks for your reply, look I was loading the latest Quicktime and paid for the latest version of Quicktime Pro for windows as well as updating Itunes. After restarting my PC, the apple codecs would not show in the codecs list when i was preparing the output specs which are for the Australian broadcast which my boss wants of:
    1280 X 720, 25fps and Apple codecs prores 422.
Look I was wondering is there any area of Quicktime Player Pro that I have to turn on or off, I just wonder if I have to do something in Premier Pro or the other adobe program encore to convert certain levels of film from one level to another, as the camera crew I was with had 5 different levels of film to convert to the above format.
Do you have any other ideas that come to mind, I have had some troubles in the last six months with Indesign and Adobe pdf maker, I have alot of sucess with adobe before. I gratefull for any other hints. Cheers Hound Puppy

  • HDV & Quicktime Pro for Wndows?

I left clients with an HDV Quicktime thinking they could download Quicktime Pro and view it. Only to be informed a week later that they are PC people. I'm 3,000 miles away.
Can they download Quicktime Pro for Windows? Does such a thing exist? And will it play a standard export straight out from the timeline Quicktime HDV file?
And while I'm at it, does MPEG Streamclip have a Windows version, and will it play the HDV?
Or does VLC for Windows have a plug-in for HDV?
    All ears,
    Ben

Just getting QT Pro won't do it.
#48 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD or HDV or ProRes on my computer.
Shane's Stock Answer #48 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD, HDV or ProRes QT files on your computer.
The DVCPRO HD, HDV and ProRes codecs only comes with FCP. If your computer does not have FCP installed, it cannot view these quicktime files. It doesn't matter if it is a Mac or PC, without FCP installed, you cannot view these files.
If you need to view ProRes material, you can download the ProRes decoder (mac and windows compatible) for ProRes
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forWindows.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forMac
If your footage was captured as DVCRO HD you can buy the Calibrated DVCPRO HD decoder:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QDVCProHD.asp
HDV, XDCAM? Calibrated has you covered too:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
If you have MXF files from a P2 camera and you need to view the footage on a computer without FCP, you can download P2CMS from Panasonic:
    http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/p2-hd/downloads-and-updates.asp
Or you need the other party to compress the footage into a format your computer can play, like H.264.

  • Quicktime Pro for Windows

I bought Quicktime Pro for windows because of the beautiful advertisement. It had to be possible to convert every video into every format possible.
I tried to convert several mpg en mov files (from Sony camera) into mp4 and 3GP. Playing of these mpg and mov- files in QT is not a problem, even with audio. So it doesn't seem a codec problem. But after exporting these files into other format, there is no audio anymore.
If I change a mov or mpg file and save it in the same file-format, audio is not corrupted.
What is it that I do wrong?
    Dell Inspiron 9300   Windows XP

QT does not export sound from muxed mpeg files: QT Mpeg Limitations. This freeware should do the trick: Mpeg StreamClip
If the mpegs in question are mpeg-2 you will need to buy the mpeg2playbackcomponent from Apple ($20 US). Note that these programs will not work with encrypted Hollywood movies.

You can contact the customer service people at the phone number listed at the bottom of the Apple web site pages. Howeveer, be advised that sicne it is impossible for Apple to verify whether or not the pro key sent has been used, it is unlikely that Apple will refund your money if the purchase process was properly completed—i.e., the key was properly generated and made a part of your account record. Your best options will likely be to either to sell or gift the key and user name to a widows user and purchase a Mac key if you need full QT 7 Pro functionality (masking, blending, layering, etc.) or download the free MPEG Streamclip app if all you need is trimming, merging, and conversion options.

  • How to transfer Quicktime Pro for windows to mac?

My step-father recently purchased quicktime pro for windows. Oddly enough he received his new iMac about a week later. While trying to activate Quicktime Pro on his mac he realized that pro purchased for windows will only work on windows. Is there anyway to transfer the purchase to mac?

Sorry, you (he) have to buy a separate license for QT Pro for Mac.

  • Does Quicktime Pro convert VOB DVD files?

I'm very new to DVD although not to Macs (Thankfully). I'm ripping my hair out trying to convert Canon (rewriteable) dvds into a format the Mac will read. (Windows seems to support all dvds with Ulead etc....) Will Quicktime Pro convert VOB files into something I can play back on the Mac? I assume from other postings the files should be in MPEG-2 format. If not, what on earth can I buy that will do the job simply and cheaply....

Try Mpeg StreamClip: ( http://www.squared5.com ) it's free. It will convert from VOB to DV, QT and several other formats, but you will have to have the Mpeg 2 codec on your Mac to use it, that can be purchased here, ( http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/ ) if you don't have it already.
Another sharware program for transcoding, to different formats and can burn to DVD when it finished transcoding is called VisualHub, found here: http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/tryit.php . It comes with the codecs, (via a free download after VH is installed.
    It costs $23.32USD

  • QuickTime Pro for FCP X

I own Final Cut Studio and FCP X. Presumably my license for QuickTime Pro which is tied to ownership of Final Cut Studio is still valid.
A new MacBook Air has Final Cut Pro X on it, and I wish to put a copy of my QuickTime Pro onto that computer.
There appears to be no easy way to put Final Cut Studio onto my Air. I put the DVDs in a computer with DVD drives, access it though the nextwork, see the install program and run into roadblocks that tell me to simply copy the files from the DVDs to my Air to begin.
Does not work that way. The first install DVD can't be copied to the Air. I get this: "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8058)."
Is there a way to get Apple's attention and allow the Pro features of QT7 to work on my Air without buying it again?

Have you tried the full login including "@me.com or @mac.com"? This seems to work as far as FCP or compressor "recognizing" the MobileMe account. Yet when I do it through compressor, even though it says the job is done and all is well it never actually uploads it to MobileMe. It seems to work fine through FCP though.

  • Is Quicktime Pro for me?

Hi. I am looking for an app that will convert HD video from my new camcorder and allow me to post that video on the web with the assurance that no one can copy or steal it off of my website. I also need to be able to have a watermark on the video. Can I do this with Quicktime Pro?
Also, are there any programs that would allow me to add more features +(for example, special effects)+ to a quicktime video?
    Thanks!

    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/F/index.html
One of my QuickTime "movies" that has been made "un-editable" via an AppleScript droplet. Viewers can save a local copy but not export or edit the file.
QuickTime Pro can easily add an image "watermark" to your videos.
"Special effects" are a little more complex and some third party software may be required. One of my files that uses still images and yet has some motion and effects:
