Quicktime Pro Key Invalid

After a reboot, Quicktime pro has become quicktime. No pro. I looked up my registration key, compared it to what was typed in - exactly the same. Copied and pasted back in - still invalid. I have 7.1.5 and am wondering if the update has nulled the 7 registration.

Make sure you're entering in both the user name and key code exactly as in the email Apple sent you. Any error in either, including leaving off a salutation (for instance, if the email says "Mr. John Smith") will cause the registration to error.
If that still doesn't work, try trashing the QuickTime preferences and then re-enter your key.

  • Quicktime Pro Windows - Invalid Registration

Hi, I couldn't find anything about this, so I'm trying here. Mods, please move in the right area.
I bought a QuickTime Pro key for Windows back in 2004. It's no longer appearing in my order history and apparently Apple got rid of the purchased software page that had the key.
I do have my old email for it but when I enter that information it says "invalid registration key"
Anyone have any ideas what to do? I can't seem to contact Apple support about it either. There's never an option for this...
    Thanks!

Make sure you're entering in _both_ the user name and key code _exactly_ as in the email Apple sent you. Any error in either, including leaving off a salutation (for instance, if the email says "Mr. John Smith") will cause the registration to fail.
Also make sure you did indeed purchase a key for Windows. QuickTime keys are not cross-platform.
    Hope this helps.

  • Quicktime Pro Key pooched on 7.6.4 install.

Here is the latest on an issue I've seen documented here. Upon installing 7.6.4 (in the middle of a laboratory session!) Quicktime ceased functioning "normally." Upon launch of Quicktime or any ".mov," the player window will appear for a fraction of a second and then close to the Windows Task Bar never to be accessible again. The original problem, in my case, was preceded by a test of converting mp4 video to 3pg utilizing Quicktime Pro. All the source material involved is my own by copyright. All the software on my laptop licensed.
So I uninstalled Quicktime 7.6.4 and reinstalled. There had been some collateral issues as I also use Quicktime plug in processes in Sony Vegas Pro Software. After a scandisk, (fixdisk), defrag etc. Quicktime 7.6.4 did start properly. So I opened the window to enter my Quicktime Pro Key and....
A Quicktime window appears for a fraction of a second then closes to the Window's Task Bar never to be accessible again. It appears that Quicktime users (for Windows) are experiencing some problems with this release but I'm really wondering how the update would pooch the Pro Key. I feel that it is required to wait for another release before I would purchase another Quicktime Pro Key. Which I actually do require professionally.

The update to QT 7.6.4 would have no effect on the pro key it doesn't have to be re-entered after the update. Where you removed and re-installed QT could be the reason, my guess is something to do with administrator accounts, like which one originally installed QT?
    Is, com.apple.QuickTime plist on the computer? C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\QuickTime\com.apple.QuickTime plist
If com.apple.QuickTime plist is on the computer, open it. You may need Note Pad to open it. If the pro key is not showing in there then QT pro is not registered in the QT control panel

  • Quicktime Pro key

I bought Quicktime Pro online and have recieved three emails from apple but none display what I paid for, A QUICKTIME KEY.
I have looked at my account online and there is no key associated with my order. I have also called apple support for quicktime and all I get is a recording that tells me to go online then hangs up on me.
Where can I get my quicktime pro key?

Did you ever resolve this issue? If so can you let me know how?
I just purchased a key yesterday (1/12/06) and have encountered the SAME difficulties that you've described. After countless minutes on hold with both the Apple Store and Tech Support and being told that the only support offered for QT (Pro or otherwise) is online (no person at Apple could tell me what my ruddy key is!!!), I'm simply waiting for some kind of response to the message I sent through the form on <http://www.apple.com/support/store/quicktime.html>.

  • I already have a quicktime pro key, had to reload quicktime how do i insert the key i have without having to buy the program again

I already have a quicktime pro key, had to reload quicktime how do i insert the key i have without having to buy the program again

QuickTime Player -> Edit menu -> Preferences -> Register
Enter in the user name and key as sent to you by Apple.
For any future questions about QuickTime, those will usually get the quickest response if posted in the QuickTime forum.
    Regards.

  • I just purchased Quicktime pro key but when I go to system preferences to enter it  Quicktime icon is not there

I just bought Quicktime Pro key but when I go into system preferences, quicktime icon is not there

Thanks for the answer, but that doesn't answer the question why the icon whether it's QT Player or QT Pro is not appearing in system Pereferences. I have a MacBook running OS X 10.7.4 and there isn't an a QT icon in system preferences.
By the way, what is QuickTime X Pro? I recently purchased QT 7 Pro.
    Thanks

  • Cant QuickTime Pro Key

I just bought the QuickTime Pro Key. I type in my registration Code but nothing happens? Can someone pls help!!
    What do I do next?
I pressed the return key, tried the tab key nothing happens.

Not much will happen that will be obvious other than that the QuickTime log in the Registration screen will get a small "pro" tag. If the Pro labels have gone from the menu items, then your key is correctly registered and you should be good to go.
    Regards.

  • Can I use a single QuickTime Pro key on more than one computer?

I would like to use QuickTime Pro at both home (Windows Vista) and at work (Windows XP). Can I do this using a single purchased key, or do I need to buy two separate keys, one for each machine?
It's a rather stupid question, but I can't find an straightforward statement one way or the other in the FAQs. Perhaps the answer's too obvious!
    Cheers,
    Andrew.

Thanks! I thought this would probably be the case, but since iTunes allows me to authorise more than one machine, I thought that it was just possible that QuickTime might do the same. Back to the drawing board ...
    Cheers,
    Andrew.

  • QuickTime Pro key entered, can't access QuickTime Pro.

I entered my key as instructed. I even went to QuickTime and downloaded/installed QuickTime Player to see if that was a problem. AS far as I can tell I still only have access to QuickTime Player and don't have access to QuicikTime Pro.
I read a post from April regarding this problem and it really didn't help too much as it ended up resolving a post about audio files. I am trying to import Video_TS files from Mini-DVD, (via LaCie firewire CD/DVD reader/writer) created on my Sony DVD-R/RW camera.
Then I want to copy them to DVD, with Toast 7 Titanium and load them into iMovie to edit. Right now I'm stuck at the beginning; unable to import to the files, and I thought QuickTime Pro was supposed to do this. But I can't even find out because I don't know how to access QuickTime Pro or even if it is available to me.

First, the QT Pro key is a separate purchase from Apple at a cost of $30US. The mpeg2playbackcomponent is an additional $20. However, the playbackcomponent cannot read Transport Stream versions of mpeg2, which is what the TS files you mention are. To do that you can download this freeware. It also will allow export of both sound and video from Muxed mpeg files (mpeg-1 and mpeg-2) which the playback component by itself will not do.

  • HT2376 How do I find my Quicktime Pro Key

I've logged in to my Account just like the Support Article states and clicked on View Order History but my Order is older than 18 months old. I can't view my purchase of Quicktime Pro 7 to retrieve my Key Code. Your support Article lies. Where do I find my Key Code?

We are all just fellow users here and not responsible for what Apple's web pages say. If you want to comment to them on any inaccuracies, you can do so here:
    https://ssl.apple.com/support/feedback/
As Kirk said, orders older that 18 months can no longer be retrieved from the Apple Store. If you failed to save the email with the key Apple sent you, as they themselves advised, and you don't have a system with QT Pro still active from which you can copy the necessary preference file, you'll need to buy a new key.
    Regards.

  • Quicktime pro key won't take

    Hi all
Upon buying and registering my QT Pro key, the software says it is ok with the key, but then will not show the extra items or options. going back into QT also needs the key again before saying it is Pro.
Is there a full unistaller to repair a corrupted QT Player, so I can reinstall and then register QT Pro ?
    Thanks

When entering the QT pro key, QuickTime 7 Pro appears, but when going back into the QT control panel, it is not there. This would likely be permissions related. Open the User Accounts control panel, which has all the info.

  • HT2376 QuickTime Pro Key: How do I retrieve a lost key purchased more than 18 months ago?

The stated method is to look up the order on the Apple Online Store, but they do not display orders more than 18 months old. How do I retrieve my key if it is older than that?

If you didn't write the info down on a piece of paper (like I did) or save the original email there is no way to recover your registration info.

  • Can my QuickTime Pro 7 for Windows License key be transferred to my new Mac

I have used QuickTime Pro on Windows for the past 8-10 months.
I have now moved from Windows to Mac. However, the Pro registration key is invalid on the Mac because it is Windows-specific.
Will Apple convert my Windows key to a Mac key, or do I need to purchase a separate license for QT 7 Pro for Mac?

I bought the $30 Quicktime Pro license when I had windows and now I have switched to mac and want to continue to use Quiktime Pro. I put in the license and it didn't work. I later realized why as the user above has, and it makes no sense.
Apple should provide a work-around for this. It is not logical to make people pay more than once if they change operating systems but wish to continue using their online purchase. The download of the Quicktime client is free anyway, it is only the online pro license key which I paid for that costs money. So there is no reason to make people pay twice. That's bad business and while some companies might have this flaw, it is far from the standard for a well organized company.
Normally when you buy a license for software online, whether that be a game or whatever you pay for the account license and then you can download whichever client you need for free. If you switch to mac or windows or whatever, your account is still good. So with apple you can download the right client for free as with others, but if you switch to mac you must pay for the license again because they keys are not consolidated into one system, even though the client is still a free download. This makes no sense economically whatsoever as the user only wants to continue to use what they have paid for at no additional cost to they company.
Apple should either consolidate all the Quicktime Pro keys to one system or the sales department should offer a workaround of some sort. This is just not logical and for the online license key model of business and is just bad business relations as well.

  • Quicktime pro registration is invalid

Each time I enter my quicktime registration details it states that it is invalid. Has anyone had a similar experience and know what to do? I have checked and double checked taht I have enetered them correctly

If your QuickTime Pro key is for QuickTime 6 or the Mac OS X version of QuickTime 7, it won't work. Otherwise, the name and key need to be entered exactly as specified, including spacing and capitalization.
