Quicktime Pro lisence - Mac vs PC

I have Quicktime Pro lisence for mac, but now I have been forced over to a PC(I know, I know...), and my reg code does not work... Is the reg code valid only for mac, and if so, can i swop it for a PC lisence? Anybody?

No, you will have to buy a separate license.

I cannot get my registration to work for QuickTime Pro for Mac OS X 10.6.8 using QT 7.6.6  I have copied and pasted exactly as require (I don't have an organization).  Any suggestions?  Thank you!

There is no QuickTime System Preferences pane in 10.6.8 or later.
You enter the registration under the player 7 menu.

You can contact the customer service people at the phone number listed at the bottom of the Apple web site pages. Howeveer, be advised that sicne it is impossible for Apple to verify whether or not the pro key sent has been used, it is unlikely that Apple will refund your money if the purchase process was properly completed—i.e., the key was properly generated and made a part of your account record. Your best options will likely be to either to sell or gift the key and user name to a widows user and purchase a Mac key if you need full QT 7 Pro functionality (masking, blending, layering, etc.) or download the free MPEG Streamclip app if all you need is trimming, merging, and conversion options.

  • Since updating Firefox to 6.0, my Quicktime Pro on Mac OSX 10.6.8 won't allow me to save MP3s, although I can listen to them on the page.

I recently updated Firefox to 6.0 and it quit allowing me to save any mp3s downloaded to the page, although I can still play them in Firefox.
For a very brief time, I was able to save them after the update, and I believe it has something to do with bit rate, as I was asked whether I wanted to increase the bit rate. I clicked yes, but didn't take note of whether it was 32, 64 or something else.
Next time I restarted Firefox, it went back to the original setting and I don't know how to change it. I even purchased another copy of Quicktime to see if that would help, but it didn't.
I'm also having this problem in Safari, so it's probably a Quicktime fix, rather than Firefox, but if there's anything you can tell me, I'd really appreciate it.
Apparently, there are third-party Quicktime softwares that will help, but I don't know what they are or what they do. Can you help, please?

If you upgrade to Lion it comes bundeled with it!
To get it on your Mac Pro just copy the aplication from the aplication folder on your MacBook.  You can do this via a thumb drive or over a local network connection.

  • Sample rate/quicktime pro audio/video

    Hi all:
Have a few questions related to Quicktime pro on mac related to sample rate of audio and video...any help understanding much appreciated...
I am a music composer using logic pro and recently started working with filmakers who send me quicktime files of the video to score to...
regarding sample rate of audio as played back in quicktime...I'm a bit confused....
When playing back either an MP3,wave,Aiff at 44.1k or 48k
seems that quicktime plays at the right speed and pitch of audio...Does Quicktime use it's own audio processor to convert sample rates in real time at playback?
When I play a video track with audio recorded at 44.1k or even an MP3...and playback on my soundcard set at 48k...it does play at correct pitch...even though theory of audio tells me that the sample rate is very inportant especially when playing back...sample rate needs to be the same on both the soundcard audio clock and the software...
Is this part of the magic of quicktime or am I missing something.
Even a bit more confused when I got a dialog file from a filmaker attached to his quicktime file that he thougnt was in 44.1k...was actually 48k...so when taken out of quicktime and put in another enviornment for editing that became really important and avident that the samplerate audio rules outside of quicktime applied...
Am I correct then in my understanding that when working only in the quicktime enviornment that the rules of audio sample rate do not apply?
    Thanks for thoughts...
    regards
    vibes

All you may ever want to know about QT, audio and OS X:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/MusicAudio/Reference/CoreAudio/index.ht ml
QuickTime 7 is a major re-write and it now has many more options for audio. Multiple channel support (up to 24) and sample rates of double DV Stream settings.
    Magic is how it works.

  • QuickTime Pro download...

For not real reason other than I can, I just ordered QuickTime Pro for Mac.  I'm running Mavericks with the latest updates.  I signed into the QT order page, paid for the software, received an email with the order info, but no indication as to how to complete the download order.
I expected this to be an immediate download.  Should I have received the download immediately or do I have to wait several hours/days before the download is available?
I'm out $30, but no QuickTime Pro.  Seems strange to me.  I understand if it were to be a DVD mailed to me, but it clearly states this is an electronic order.
    Anyone else experience this?

To be quite frank, I don't understand much of the above comments.  So I guess I'll just punt.  The ONLY reason I got QT Pro was that I can't play any of the TV shows that I've paid for and downloaded from iTunes.  I never had any trouble until I upgraded to Mavericks.  When I try to pay one of these videos, I get a popup saying I need some add on QT component  and get directed to a page with maybe 10 of these codex options.
While I agree that Mavericks is a disaster as far as QT and QL is concerned, I fail to understand why a person would purchase a Pro key without really reading the description of its purpose. It clearly states that its primary use is for the recording of A/V via built-in devices, FireWire camcorders, microphones, etc.; editing of file content; and the conversion of file types/file compression formats. Nowhere does it even hint that QT 7 Pro adds any new codec components (which it doesn't) or allow you to view any more videos natively than the QT 7 player alone does. What it does do, however, is allow you to manually add third party codec components supporting video content not supported natively by QT and/or access QT "Pro" video codec components installed along with/by professional video editor applications. As Deb described, the "open" nature of the QT 7 app interface allows the user to modify his or her system's codec component configuration to support older, third-party, non-QT file/compression formats.
I've tried 2 or 3 on the list and my videos still won't play with QT.  Definitely not user friendly.
While Deb's modifications offer compatibility with most content users are likely come across/download, it does not guarentee 100% compatibility with all files nor does it take into account specialty codecs supplied by what seems to amount to "sponsored" components on the "goto" web page you referenced. In fact, I tend to consider it somewhat irresponsible to arbitrarily add codecs at random just to perform "trial and error" playback tests. The correct and logical approach here would be to downoal a free media utility that examines the file content and tells you which specific codecs were used to create the file so you can then locate, download, and install just the codec component(s) required for QT 7 playback if available for your system.
Since I can watch these videos with my iPad, it's not a big deal if I can't access them with my MBA.
This is disturbing. If you are using default IOS software to view the files, then the files would like be be MPEG-4 or MPEG-4 AVC video with AAC audio which should be compatible with all QT based apps on your computer even under the Mavericks OS. If they are, then it sounds like you either have a problem with your system insallation or your media sharing workflow between iPad and computer or source files and computer.
I guess that's the reason they call it the PRO edition, you have to be a Pro to even understand the options.
Hardly. While the QT 7 "Pro" editing features are currently not given as much attention or credit as I might expect, they are rather extensive for such a cheap utility and offer capabilities normally only available using software like the FCP suite of apps costing more than a thousand dollars. Those familiar with its use can do anything from creating a video Christmas card to applying a B-movie "Grindhouse"-like (scratched and aged film) filter affect to a movie should they desire to do so.

  • Mac OS 10.4 QuickTime Pro purchased, registered, then "nothing"

Today I purchased QuickTime Pro 7 for Mac OS X online. I have placed the correct information into the preferences/registration area and verified inside of the QuickTime 7.0.1 preference registration area.
The Pro features are not visible (as in "nothing happens"); also, I purchased QuickTime MPEG-2 playback for Mac OS X and again I cannot run it, much less locate the downloaded document.
I know my transactions were completed, as I received acknowledgements via e-mail. I also know I have typed this in correctly. I have not used Quicktime Pro before, but shouldn't some additional features show up?
My goal here is to convert some DVD footage (in VOB format) into Quicktime so that I can drop into iMovie.

You'll probably have more luck getting help if you ask in the QuickTime for Macintosh forum. But if the "Pro" label next to the extra commands is gone, then your copy of QT is registered correctly. Note that QT Player cannot edit multiplexed MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 videos; you have to demultiplex them before importing them into QT.
If that doesn't help, try asking again in the QT for Mac forum.

  • On my Mac OSX 10.4.11,  having trouble upgrading to Quicktime Pro

On my Mac OSX 10.4.11, I  upgraded Quicktime 7.6.4 to Quicktime Pro. My problem is, when doing transitions in iMovie, I get the message to check the "enable flash checkbox under the Advanced Tab in Quicktime Preferences" . There is no such option offered under Preferences on my 10.4.11 Mac.

For iCloud, you need a version of iTunes 10, and 10.4.11 only supports up to 9.2.1.  10.4 offers no iCloud access, while 10.5 and 10.6 have limited access.  Only 10.7 and 10.8 are integrated with iCloud.

  • Can my QuickTime Pro 7 for Windows License key be transferred to my new Mac

I have used QuickTime Pro on Windows for the past 8-10 months.
I have now moved from Windows to Mac. However, the Pro registration key is invalid on the Mac because it is Windows-specific.
Will Apple convert my Windows key to a Mac key, or do I need to purchase a separate license for QT 7 Pro for Mac?

I bought the $30 Quicktime Pro license when I had windows and now I have switched to mac and want to continue to use Quiktime Pro. I put in the license and it didn't work. I later realized why as the user above has, and it makes no sense.
Apple should provide a work-around for this. It is not logical to make people pay more than once if they change operating systems but wish to continue using their online purchase. The download of the Quicktime client is free anyway, it is only the online pro license key which I paid for that costs money. So there is no reason to make people pay twice. That's bad business and while some companies might have this flaw, it is far from the standard for a well organized company.
Normally when you buy a license for software online, whether that be a game or whatever you pay for the account license and then you can download whichever client you need for free. If you switch to mac or windows or whatever, your account is still good. So with apple you can download the right client for free as with others, but if you switch to mac you must pay for the license again because they keys are not consolidated into one system, even though the client is still a free download. This makes no sense economically whatsoever as the user only wants to continue to use what they have paid for at no additional cost to they company.
Apple should either consolidate all the Quicktime Pro keys to one system or the sales department should offer a workaround of some sort. This is just not logical and for the online license key model of business and is just bad business relations as well.

  • Got Quicktime Pro with my Mac Pro, where do I find my registration code?

When I bought my Mac Pro two years ago it came with QT Pro. I've now reinstalled my computer, how do I get my QT to be Pro again?

QuickTime Pro has never been included with any Mac. It might have been activated if you bought the Mac with Final Cut Pro/Studio pre-installed, though. If that's the case, reinstall FCP/FCS and it should reactivate QT Pro.

Quicktime on my Mac runs a URL dot mov file.  On My WINXP Quicktime Pro will not.  Anyone know what's wrong.

I just experienced this exact same issue with my early 2011 15" macbook pro. Since like a month after purchasing it I had issues with the screen randomly going dark on me. I sent it in for repair inder waranty they replaced the gpu and logic board but I continued to have the same issues with the screen randomly going black sometimes I would need to reboot it in order to get the screen to go back on but it happened so infrequently and I used the computer for school so disnt find the time to resend it in to apple. Just last night the screen started to display the blue screen with black verticle lines on it. I called apple and explained to them  the issues that had been ongoing since I purchased the laptop but they said because I was now outside of warantee that any repairs at thia point wouldn't be covered. Fml so glad I spent 2200 on this future proof macbook pro what a joke my sister purchased a toshiba laptop for 300 4 years ago and it still running like a champ. I loved my macbook but at the price I paid I expect it to last longer than 2 years before leaving me high and dry. *** apple??
