Quicktime Pro Registration - clarification...

I own two computers and wonder if it is possible to register Quicktime Pro on both with one registration key?
Many thanks,
falmvtex

I am about to get rid of my PC desktop which has Quicktime Pro on it. Can I de-authorize it on the desktop and transfer the registration code to my netbook? Thanks.

    How to find
Entering a QuickTime Pro registration key in Mac OS X for 10.8.2 to register Quicktime. I've BOUGHT it and can't register? It doesn't show a Quicktime in system preference?

Apple are very lazy in giving instructions and it came with OS X v10.6 and OS X v10.5, nothing for OS X v10.7 or OS X v10.8? I've OS X v10.8.2...I'm baffled. I don't need a mind game. I just want a job done.
The instructions found at URL http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3678 are up-to-date since they refer to QT 7 v7.6.6 which is compatible with all versions of the Mac OS X v10.6.3 and later—including Lion and Mountain Lion.

  • HT2376 Lost Quicktime Pro registration key

I have lost the Quicktime Pro registration key but it is not listed in my order history on Apple's Online Store. Any suggestions? Thx!

Apple keep purchase information for up to 18 months, it is then deleted after this time.
If you did not keep the registration details from the purchase email, you will need to purchase it again.

  • Quicktime Pro registration code

Awhile back I purchased the quicktime pro registration code, installed it and it worked fine. With the latest release of Quicktime I found I could no longer play my earlier .mov files so I uninstalled the that version of QT but took care to copy down and double check my quicktime pro registration code before I did (the warning screen was a big help there).
I installed Quicktime 6.5.2 and now I can't put the registration code in for QT Pro. I get the message that my registration code and registered to aren't right. I have tried it with and without caps and the dashes. I have tried only my first name or last and reversed the order. I even tryed my itunes ID as the registered to but nothing works.
Is it possible that I am using a version of QT that predates my registration code? I have had QT pro for at least 6 months.
If they fixed the problems with the latest release of QT I would try that but I won't bother until it works correctly. Contacting Apple is tricky. They don't seem to want to interface with customers in any way shape or form. Its all FAQ and discussion groups.
Anyone have to reinput registration codes on QT that could offer me some insight?
    Dell Dimension 8250   Windows XP

Pro keys have always worked in any release of the version for which you purchased it. Also, you should have backward compatibility with any earlier formats. I have been using QT since version 2.5 and later versions have always played formats introduced in earlier versions.
In short, there is something about your system (a corrupt file or something) that is interferring with QT. You may need to completely purge yoiur system of all parts of earlier installations of QT and staart over. Being primarily a Mac person I can't tell you how to do that. But you seem to need to do that, as these issues of non-compatibility with earlier formats or Keys are just not correct. If that were a general problem for the Windows version I am sure a large number of people would have posted the problem here in the Windows forum.

In the "Downloads" area of the Apple store account used to purchase the key if bought within the last 18 months. After 18-months Apple deletes this information and it is up to you to maintain proper storage of the key data.

  • I have tried putting in my Quicktime Pro registration number, it tells me that my registration was successful and then doesn't install!! Help!

I have tried putting in my Quicktime Pro registration number, a message came up telling me I had successfully registered and now it won't download! Help!
It doesn't say QuickTime Pro on any of my icons. They've got my money - but I don't have the product!

When I click on the 'About QuickTime ' button it still tells me that I just have the ordinary Version 7.7 (1680.25).
And as I previously stated, the application will not change whether it is running as QT Player 7 or QT 7 Pro.
When I click on the File Menu, Export and many of the other features are in grey so are not accessable by me. When I do click on them, they tell me to 'Buy it now'. I have a receipt email from Apple thanking me for my payment and giving me my registration code which I duly entered along with my name into the appropriate fields on the registration page.
The only button available for me to press was another 'Buy it now' button?
The email contains both the name (with or without salutation) under which you purchased the QT Pro Key and registration key itself. Both name and key must be enterend in the the QT 7 Player application just as received in the email to unlock the Pro features. Have you actually entered this informationg in the QT 7 Player? If not, follow the "If you need to Manually enter your QuickTime 7 Pro registration code:" instructions detailing how to register QT 7 for Pro use found HERE. The process for entering the key information in the appropriate version of QT 7 is virtually the same whether you are using Leopard, Snow Leopard, or Lion.
I did have a box appear at one point saying 'Thank you for Registering', but clearly I HAVEN'T been registered.
It's infuriating as I need this to down load before I can get any work done.
If the "QuickTime Pro Registration" window depicted in the above intructions indicates QT Pro is registered but you still cannot access the Pro features, then you should probably contact Apple and explain the problem within 90 days of purchase as you may have a more serious problem requiring technical assistance while the purchase warranty is still in effect.

  • QuickTime Pro registration(s) not functioning

A few months ago, I upgraded from a Powerbook G4 to a MacBook Pro. On my old computer, QuickTime Pro ran smoothly. When I tried to use it on my new computer, however, the features stopped working and the program only appeared as QuickTime Player.
I assumed that this meant that registration codes can only function on the computer you buy them for, so I purchased a new one today. But after following all the steps exactly as described in the email from Apple, the program still only appears as Player and not Pro. When I check System Preferences and QuickTime Preferences alike, they both show the correct registration name and code with no additional spaces or errors. The "Buy QuickTime Pro..." option is even grayed out in the menu! And yet I can't do even simple edits like cut, copy, paste, trim etc.
Is there a possible explanation for this? I did make sure I had the latest QuickTime 7 version for Tiger installed, but that made no difference. (The downloads function as updates, correct? Do I have to uninstall the program first, and if so, how?) I also spent almost an hour on the phone for tech support (being transferred three times)... until someone sent me back to the main menu which said support was only available online.
I have now spent over $60 just to get this program working, so I would really like some assistance. If you are an official Mac technician, please email me for my registrations codes and serial number.

    To The Apple Discussion Boards!
If you have not already done so, see if repairing permissions & restarting helps.
It appears you do have PRO as it's registration # is showing up. Another way to check is to open QT then go to QT Player>About QT Player. In the next window you should be able to see the grey PRO sign on the bottom left side of the QT symbol.
    Also, check out the following:

And how would you confirm this person is really a Mac technician and not some 6 year old hacker?
If you have AppleCare, you could have requested to speak with a *QuickTime Product Specialist* and/or asked politely & firmly to be transferred over to _Customer Relations - 1-800-767-2775._

  • Quicktime Pro Registration Key Problem

I recently upgraded my laptop to a MacBookPro, and I am trying to transfer my Quicktime Pro registration key onto my new computer, but when it keeps telling me that I'm using an invalid registration number. Any ideas?

This may not work in later versions of iTunes that import both sound and video.
In version 2, which is what I use, I just have to go to the Advance menu and choose "Convert to AIFF" and then navigate to the movie file. iMovie should be able to import the AIFF format but you may have to first go to the iTunes preferences and set the Importing section to AIFF. Afer the import you should be able to use "Show Song File" to open the directory in which it has been placed. Put a copy in a convenient place for import into iMovie.

  • HELP QuickTime Pro Registration won't take?

I'm in admin mode, have checked and re-entered code key several times. Nothing seems to happen. Help>

After entering the registration number does the QuickTime Preference Pane show the words QuickTime Pro under the number? If so, you've got Pro.
If not you've entered the info incorrectly. Use copy/paste from the email confirmation of your order. Make sure the name is the same as that used in the email. "Jim" will fail if "James" was used to make the purchase.

  • How to enter QuickTime Pro registration key in Windows 7?

I purchased a registration key for QuickTime Pro, but I'm not sure where to enter it on my Windows 7 machine. I have found these directions:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/pro/unlock-win7.html
But that's for another version of Windows (XP? Vista?). Windows 7 Control Panel doesn't look like that, and I'm not sure where I can access the QuickTime 7 Control Panel to enter the registration key. Any advice?

    You're welcome.
Wish Apple would update their website to include these instructions for Windows 7 users...
It is possible to report issues like that directly to Apple. (The challenge with that, though, is first finding the feedback forms ...)
In this instance, probably the best ones to use might be the Support feedback form:
    http://www.apple.com/support/feedback/
... or the overall Apple.com feedback form:

  • Quicktime pro registration key fails to work

I tried to reinstall quicktime. I tried to ask apple support for a new key, or to find the defect in the key they gave me. After 48 hours I'm still waiting for a reply. The only thing I received until now was a confirmation of my order from my local applestore. The only thing that appears, after I type in my key, is "invalid registration", right beside the "buy quicktime pro" button. Does anyone know how I can adjust this?

Thank you for the response. I've copied and pasted the name and number from the original electronic purchase page (I NEVER got an email from Apple confirming purchase) and I still get invalid registration. I'm an 18 year Mac user, video editor, graphic artist, music producer, college prof in TV Prod and photography, with extensive experience troubleshooting Mac problems. but I'm dead in the water on this one. Any more suggestions? I don't have a Mac email account set up. I'm going through Comcast, and when I try to set up Mac email, the Preferences choice in the Mac Mail program is alwasy ghosted, so I can't get past step one there. Any suggests there? Could that be an issue here? Thanks Kirk.
