Quicktime Pro Video to iPod Problem-desperate

I know a lot of dicussions have touched on this, but no matter how much I look I cannot find an answer to my problem of the video from my digital camera via Qicktime Pro 7 not exporting to a movie format on my hard drive. I export it, a file appears on desktop and then I double click it to check it. Then Windows says that it needs me to choose a program. I choose Quicktime Pro 7. Then I get a message saying file isn't a movie. Please help a brother here. Thanks!!!

Stephen
Check the Properties of your converted movie in Quicktime Pro 7.
It should look something like this :
http://www.arc-facilities-edinburgh.co.uk/ipod/settings.jpg
This is from a converted movie which plays in iTunes and loads to the iPod fine.
Note you should have one video track encoded in H264 up to 768 kilobits per second and one audio track encoded in AAC up to 160 kilobits per second
Alternatively you can use mp4 (MPEG-4) for your pictures up to 2.5 megabits per second
Let us know if your movie properties are any different.

Brian

  • Quicktime Pro Video Recording Times Out

When I use the new Quicktime Pro video record feature, it times out after approx. 15 minutes.
    Anyway to extend this?
    Thanks!
    Bill

I haven't seen a time out like that, but perhaps it's related to reaching a 2 GB file size. You might try later QuickTime, or different compression settings to keep the file smaller.

  • QuickTime Pro Video Conversion

I know i just posted about video capture, but i also have a question about how to convert video types to a different type. Please again let me know if i wasted my money.

QuickTime Pro does not export to MPEG-1. But it can view them.
I guess that you mean WMP (Windows Media Player) formats and the Windows version of QuickTime Player doesn't open those formats. The Mac version uses third party software (Flip4Mac) that allows some WMP formats be viewed inside QuickTime Player.
Why do you want to convert to MPEG-1? What is the goal of this conversion?
Toast from Roxio can create MPEG-1 files from numerous video formats.

  • QuickTime Pro Video Controls

I have upgraded to QuickTime Pro but the video controls in "A/V Controls" are not functioning. Solutions? Thanks.

Are you saying that even if I can display the A/V control panel, if the controls are not highlighted for me to adjust brightness, etc , its because of my graphics card?

  • QuickTime Pro Video Capture

I cant seem to figure out how to capture video from a USB capture card to QuickTime Pro. I know I installed it correctly, but no video that is supposed to pop up ever did when i finished appling QuikTime Pro settings. I can barily tell a diference, and i need to know how to capture video to QuickTime Pro. Please let me know if a wasted my money.

Even the Mac version of QuickTime Pro can't capture "on screen" events. We use third party software for those tasks just like Windows users.
QuickTime Pro "Record" (New Video Recording - Mac only or New Audio Recording - Mac or PC) works with the built in devices found on a Mac (iSight camera) or external devices meeting the requirements (usually Firewire connection).
I use SnapzProX on my Mac (about $70) to record on screen events. Similar products for Windows sell for as little as $20.

  • Bought Quicktime pro, videos still wont go to ipod

am i doing something wrong here, is there a trick, i just played 30 bucks and i follow the instuctions for converting the files and the videos still wont go onto my ipod, help anyone please!

If you're using the export to iPod setting on QT Pro have a look at your completed movie properties and see if they look like this :
    http://www.arc-facilities-edinburgh.co.uk/ipod/settings.jpg
(from a converted movie that looks good and loads onto iPod fine)
You should have one video track H264 format at less than 768 kbps
one audio track AAC encoded at less than 160 kbps.
    Don't ask me why the video is 300 x 240 rather than 320 x 240!
If you're using MP4 instead post your settings, you may have something wrong.

  • Quicktime home video title ratio problem

My dad is running Quicktime 7.7.1 on a PC type system. On Windows XP.
He took some videos on his camera in New Zealand when on holiday.
Then he only just found yesterday how to edit in Quicktime to put videos together.
He wanted a title today, and I tried making a version of the still title in Adobe Illustrator CS5 with a Video and Film template of the ratio 2048x1536 , then transferred that into Adobe Flash Pro CS5 and ran it for 5 secs 24 fps.
Exported that to Quicktime format - .mov - and saved it to a usb stick. Dad put it into his computer and then tried to edit it into the start of the movie.
A white upside down L appeared around the top left corner to the lower right side around the title I had made.
And then it went into the movie ok, so how do I make the ratio the right one? The ratio I used was based on the size from the camera dad showed me.
It seemed large, as TV in widescreen is a lot smaller ratio!

And then it went into the movie ok, so how do I make the ratio the right one? The ratio I used was based on the size from the camera dad showed me.
Aspect ratio is a relationship between the width of your video and its height. A 640x480, 1280x960, and your 2048x1536 title image all have the same aspect ratio—1.33:1 (aka 4:3). What is important here is that your your dad's video and the title image have the same dimensions. To know what dimensions you need to use, simply open the video you wish to title in the QT 7 (or other) media player and use the inspector/property window to find out its dimensions. Then all you need to do in CS5 is create a new blank "Custom" image window having the same dimensions for your title.
At this point I personally would save the title image as a PNG or JPEG image for compact transmission to your dad. He could then open the image as a single image sequence @ 5 seconds/frame and either
    1) Merge it with his video content immediately for viewing in the QT 7 media player,
    2) Export the title to the same video compression format and frame rate as the videos with which he wishes to merge the content, or
    3) Merge and export the titled video as may be required for a specific target use. For instance, most users export their merged content to H.264/AAC for viewing on a mobile device (iPod, iPhone, iPad, TV, etc.) which normally requires the merged audio and/or video data to be on a single, continuous track.

  • IPod Video 5th Generation Upload Video to IPod Problem.

    Hi all,
I recently purcase an IPod video, and I have problem with uploading video from Itunes to my IPod. Is working fine when I set it to automatically sync. But when I change the setting to manually and drag the video file into the Movies folder (Itunes) is doesn't seem to be upload to my IPod. Music is working fine. Any one know why.
    Thank heaps in advance.
      Windows XP

Well this is a hard one,
You need to do a few things.
First you need to get it ripped in a file format by using questionable-legality software (Cough* like mine*). Or you could use illegal-ish (but not really illegal) software such as Limewire. But if for SOME reason you already have it in that from. Here is what you do.
    Download this software.
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/download.php
It is free and really easy to use. This will convert your movie file to compatible format, MPEG-4 (or Quick-Time).
Ok that was the easy part!
Now you will have to manually set the Audio bit rate to match to Video Bit rate in the Videora. The help tool will show you how to do it. You may get lucky and it will be the get the same bit rate for both. And then you are good to go! (it is worth a try, up to this point, some videos auto convert exactly to try it)
BUT IF NOT: (here we go)
To get the Audio and Video bit rate, change your view mode in the file folder where your original file is located to filmstrips. Now, hover your mouse over the video file, you should see Audio & Video bit rate. If not you will have to fiddle with Videora to get it right. Now change to bit rates in your options in Videora to match the original file. If the audio is off from the video, your sound will lag while your video plays or vise versa. Meaning, at about 5 min your audio could be off by over 45 sec.
Alright, you got your video. Now drag and drop it into Itunes, and drop it into your ipod. There you go! Easy right?
Well if you are lost after the “BUT IF NOT” part and you can’t get it working sufficiently before that point. My suggestion is to give up, unless you are great with computer fiddling.
So all in all it can be done, but it is VERY hard to do! I have done it, but it takes a while to work (2-3 hours-ish).
Hope this helped you, God Life

  • Final Cut Pro Video Import Crash Problems

Whenever I try to import video files into Final Cut Pro X the program crashes. I've tried numerous formats and nothing is working. If it does pull the video in and lets me see it briefly prior to crashing, the footage appears shaky and with bright green lines running through it. It does not look like this if you play the clip outside of FCP. I've used FCP to make videos within the last year without this problem and have updated as well as uninstalled and re-installed the software to see if that would helped, but nothing has worked. I am stumped and my client is getting antsy for a finished product. Please advise.

I've had the same problem on both my laptop and my desktop:
    Laptop specs: 13" MacBook Pro (2012) / 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 / 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 / Intel HD Graphics 4000  513 MB / 450 GB Free space
Desktop specs: iMac (2009), Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.66 GHz / 296 GB Free space
I'm feeling like a tech moron though as I am not sure about finding this information, "Frame size, frame rate, video codec, audio codec, sample rate."

  • QuickTime Pro video from DVD

I have previously made home movies on DVD. (I used Click to DVD as the program to create them.) How can I convert them to QuickTime so that I can play them on an IPOD when I am away from home?
There really isn't anything in the manual that specifically addresses this situation. Any my computer knowledge is rather basic.
    Thanks,
    Louise

One way to do it is to use this freeware to make ipod videos. Use the mpeg-4 export. Only catch is that you will have to buy the mpeg2playbackcomponent from Apple since DVD vobs are almost always made with mpeg-2 video. Mpeg StreamClip
Note that the freeware is available in both Mac and Windows XP versions.

  • Quicktime Pro Video Tutorials

Not more than 1 or 2 months ago there were some video tutorials on developer.apple.com, teaching people how to create hinted movies, and basic editing with QT pro. In those videos appeared (apple employees) people that work on the QT platform. The videos were linked off apple's main website, but I can't remember where. I've searched all over the place, but with the new website layout things are not where they used to be.
    Any hints would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

thanks for trying, but no. i know how to login to developers.apple.com; i have an account. what i'm looking for is video tutorials on how to use QT pro made by apple employees that work on the QT platform. i was able to find those on the main apple.com QT page!?, than i was directed to developers.apple.com to d/l those videos.

  • QuickTime Pro Video fade-in fade-out How To?

    Hello
I am a newcomer and I would like to know if it is possible to do between two video clips a fade-out and a fade-in? If not what could be a possible alternative solution?
Many many thanks for all your support.
    Bernd

For each text box you need place it on it's own video track stacked above each other. You can then define the position, fades, and opacity for each individual title.

  • Quicktime Pro, Problem Converting Video to iPod

When I convert my movie files using Quicktime Pro I encounter a problem. After the converting is over the video works on my iPod, but the audio track is lost and there is no sound. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks
    -Jason

Check to make sure it is not a muxed mpeg by opening the source file in QT Player and looking at MovieInfo in the Windows menu. If it is a muxed mpeg you will have to use something other than QT since it will not export the sound from mpegs. Some people have had good results with this freeware, but there are other Windows programs starting to appear for iPod conversion:

  • Exporting on quicktime pro

When you export on quicktime pro there are two problems i am looking for a solution to.
    1. when quicktime exports large viedio files there is no audio
    2. is it faster to use quicktime pro, imovie, or a pc program any sugestions?

If your files are MPEG (1 or 2) formats an export from QT Pro will only yield the video.
Sometimes a file has the .mov extension but it contains "muxed" format tracks. You can see the format (and the codecs used) by opening the Movie Info window.
Mac users can use MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 (free) to convert MPEG-1 files to QuickTime formats. MPEG-2 files (those ripped from DVD's) require the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20 from Apple).
