Quicktime Pro Windows - Invalid Registration

Hi, I couldn't find anything about this, so I'm trying here. Mods, please move in the right area.
I bought a QuickTime Pro key for Windows back in 2004. It's no longer appearing in my order history and apparently Apple got rid of the purchased software page that had the key.
I do have my old email for it but when I enter that information it says "invalid registration key"
Anyone have any ideas what to do? I can't seem to contact Apple support about it either. There's never an option for this...
Thanks!

Make sure you're entering in _both_ the user name and key code _exactly_ as in the email Apple sent you. Any error in either, including leaving off a salutation (for instance, if the email says "Mr. John Smith") will cause the registration to fail.
Also make sure you did indeed purchase a key for Windows. QuickTime keys are not cross-platform.
Hope this helps.

  • I've bought quicktime pro, entered the registration code but am directed to buy quicktime pro again

I've bought quicktime pro, entered the registration code but am directed to buy quicktime pro again. Quicktime 7 is showing 'Pro' after I enter registration under 'Registration'. I have an email receipt from Apple store saying it is purchased. Yet when I try to use the Pro features they are greyed out. Ripped off?

I've bought quicktime pro, entered the registration code but am directed to buy quicktime pro again.
Are you pressing the "RETURN" key to enter the registered information or the "TAB" key? "Pro" registration instructions clearly state that the "TAB" key must be used. If you used the "TAB" key to register the "Pro" key information and the "Pro" features are still grey, do you actually have a file loaded in a player window. I.e., the "Pro" features cannot be accessed if a file has not been opened in the application since they are context adaptive and, as QT Kirk pointed out, must be able to "see" the type of file you wish to edit since the features available may depend on which type of file you are trying to edit.

  • Windows Vista & ISight - QuickTime Pro/Windows Movie Maker issues

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and I really like, but I am having one small issue that is really confusing me. Basically, I installed Windows Vista using BootCamp and I also installed all BootCamp drivers successfully. This basically allows me to use ISight for some chat applications (e.g. Live Messenger). However, I can't access ISight through QuickTime Pro Windows Movie Maker. Are those not compatible?
If not, what other options do I have? Basically, I am looking for some software to record ISight video for my family. And, yes, I know there is good software on the OSX side which I am already using, but I also would like to have to option to use some video editing software I already own on Windows.
    Thanks,
    Jens

windtalker64, if it's a .mov you cannot take it into movie maker, it has to be converted to a .avi for movie maker to accept it. I used QT pro to convert a .mov to a .avi, took it into movie maker and it then became a .wmv, which is what I was trying to do. I'm going back 3 years ago when I did this so unless things have changed?

  • Quicktime Pro Windows 7 not saving

I have a valid registration code, and name, that I am entering exactly as it was purchased. The code, when entered, validates, and changes from "Buy QuickTime Pro" to "QuickTime Pro 7". That said, none of the Pro features are available. When I go back to the registration preference, the information is empty and I need to re-enter it. The information isn't being saved, though it is valid.
I am running QuickTime 7.7.5, and Windows 7 (because my government job is anti-Apple hardware...) Is there a place where it is failing to connect to a server, or is there a registry where this information is supposed to be getting saved, but isn't. I've been on phone support for 2 hours with 4 different people, none fo them could assist me.

Unsure about why it's not remembering Time and Date but as for ethernet, in your setup WiFi seems to be your default. Change the default to ethernet. But that doesn't work so try disabling the Wifi card in Device Manager. Obviously, ethernet IS working so I don't know why your changes are not recorded.
Which Boot Camp drivers did you install? Maybe you could look at updating these if they are not the latest, 3.0.1 from the Snow Leopard DVD.
I suppose I should say here that I have neither of these problems with Win7. Unfortunately, I don't have my W7 machine here to check my details.

  • Quicktime Pro Key Invalid

After a reboot, Quicktime pro has become quicktime. No pro. I looked up my registration key, compared it to what was typed in - exactly the same. Copied and pasted back in - still invalid. I have 7.1.5 and am wondering if the update has nulled the 7 registration.

Make sure you're entering in both the user name and key code exactly as in the email Apple sent you. Any error in either, including leaving off a salutation (for instance, if the email says "Mr. John Smith") will cause the registration to error.
If that still doesn't work, try trashing the QuickTime preferences and then re-enter your key.

  • Quicktime Pro Windows - Why are Trimmed Movies Being Saved at Player Size?

When I trim a video clip (ProRes 422 HQ) in Quicktime Pro 7 Windows, and re-save it as a self contained movie, it seems to save the trimmed clip at the current image size of the player window.
Based on the size of the new file, it seems like the full-size data is there, but the file's properties are somehow being tagged to play back at a reduced image size. (This is confusing some of the NLEs I'm trying out.)
Can this property be undone? So the clip is always trimmed and saved to play back at the original image size? Thanks.

If it matters, I have a Canon camcorder and imported the clips using a firewire cable. The external drive is connected via a second firewire cord to the other firewire port.

  • Unable to activate Quicktime Pro with old registration number

thanks in advance for any help or suggestions offer.
I have a new imac, I have installed QT7 from the extra discs provided and based upon another thread I read, apparently there is no QT item in system preferences in Snow Leopard to place the registration number. I did do a restart after installing QT7.
If I understand correctly upgrading happens in QT7 Registration. I have my original email from several years ago additionally I have access to my old computer and have confirmed I have entered the name and registration number correct, but QT7 says it is an invalid registration number. Any thoughts?

Well I had previously had copied the registration number and pasted it and thought I could type my name correctly but something was different when I copied and pasted both as it now works. thanks

  • Quicktime Pro Windows export problem

Whenever I try to export a video in Quicktime Pro, I always get "Error -43: A file could not be found."
What is wrong with this thing? I've tried everything I can think of. How do I solve this?

    Let's start with some basics:
    What version of QuickTime?
What is the format of the original file?
Does that file play, in it's entirety, in QuickTime?
To what format are you attempting to export the video?

  • Quicktime Pro - Windows 8 - installs, but refuses to run!?

I've uninstalled and re-installed Quicktime (and iTunes) several times already.  I've run CCleaner to clean up any remaining pieces and re-installed afterwords.  Nothing is solving my problem.
Quicktime (Pro) installs fine on my system.  However, when I run it, nothing happens.  If I check the task manager, I see Quicktime.exe using 0% CPU.
If I double click on a .mov file, the same thing happens.
This is a system I use for my work and I deal with MOV files every day of the week, so this is a big problem.
Does anyone have an idea what could be done to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Disable any internet security temporarily and then give it a try, that could be stopping QT from opening? If not try opening QT by going to C:\Program Files\QuickTime and double click on QuickTimePlayer exe. I'm assuming you're trying to open from a desktop shortcut icon, that may be corrupted?

  • QuickTIme Pro Windows Key Not Working in OSX

Is this intentional and is there a way to get a key for both if you purchased or do you have to purchase twice?

    For Qt 7 Pro key:
Sorry the Pro keys are not cross-platform. meaning you have to buy the Pro key for different OSs.
Except in OSX, the OSX Pro key in will work in either Panther, Tiger or Leopard. And the same with Windows different OSs.
A Window's key won't work in OSX and OSX won't work in Windows.

  • Can't register upgraded Quicktime Pro (invalid registration) Now what?

Just upgraded to Quicktime pro. I'm running the current Quicktime 7 Player. Followed instructions, went to system preferences, opened Quicktime registration, filled out info, then entered number given to me by Apple for Quicktime Pro. Then I opened Quicktime, and then INVALID REGISTRATION came up in the registration icon. Tried it four times. Even copied the registration # from Apple receipt but still the same message: INVALID REGISTRATION.
    Can anyone help???
    I'm using Tiger 10.4.8

  • Recovering Quicktime Pro from a hard drive crash on a Windows based machine

How do I contact customer support for QuickTime Pro?
My registration code was activated. My computer crashed. I replaced the hard drive and upgraded the operating system from Windows Vista to Windows 7.
I need to have my registration code reset without spending more money!
    Is that possible?
    Thanks

Log in to the Apple Store using the same ID used in the purchase.
Click the "Downloadable Software" link to retrieve your serial number and name.
Open the QuickTime Control Panel and use copy/paste to enter that info and your current version of QuickTime will become "Pro".

  • How do I unregister quicktime pro from my old PC so I can use my registration key on my new pc?

How do I 'unregister' Quicktime Pro on my old PC so I can use my registration key for my new PC?

If you are running Windows 7:
    1) Go to Windows Explorer. Click 'Tools' then 'Folder Options'
    2) Click 'View' Tab
    3) Click radio button, 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives
    4) close Windows Explorer
    5) Re-open Windows Explorer
    6) Naviagate to folder 'C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\QuickTime\'
    7) Delete the file, 'com.apple.QuickTime.plist'
Note: This file is readable in notepad and contains the registration name and serial key.
    8) Reopen Quicktime Pro and the registration is now blank

  • Quicktime Pro 7 isn't recognized by APPLE's website!  What gives?

I just paid for, downloaded, and installed Quicktime Pro 7 on my MacBook Pro. When I go to the older ads on Apple's site, I either get a message saying that Quicktime 7 is needed to view the ad, or I get absolutely nothing (no video, no sound, etc.). Why?
I've double checked my Quicktime Pro and my registration No. shows up when I look at Quicktime properties. I've also verified that my version of Quicktime is the latest (Ver. 7.1.5).
What did I just pay $30 for?

Visit the Apple Trailers pages to "test" your Pro install.
There seem to be some "bugs" in the javascripts Apple has started to use in some of their pages that shows the "Get QuickTime" button instead of playing the file.
I've seen it a few times in Safari and sometimes a few page "refreshes" get it to load correctly.

  • HT3820 Quicktime Pro Invalid registration message

I purchased Quicktime Pro 7 upgrade (Mac OS 10.6.8 Snow Leopard)  I'm entering my name and product Registration Code EXACTLY as I received it in my e-mail.  I then hit TAB as instructed.  It still comes up with "Invalid Registration"
I've also used copy & paste from my registration email to make sure I am entering the information correctly.

Are you sure you purchased a key for Mac and not for Windows? QT keys are not cross-platform.
