Quicktime Pro won't activate

Let me start by saying that I've always found Apple products to be absolute garbage.  However, I need QuickTime pro to save a video that someone made for me.  After paying $30 for this program, and following their instructions to register the product, I still have a version of QuickTime that will not save video. I downloaded QuickTime 7 and followed all directions. It's apparently not possible to talk to one of their techs unless you buy their easily-broken hardware (cute, Apple), so I now have a $30 charge on my debit card and am no closer to keeping this video than I was an hour ago.
I'm getting ready to demand a refund and/or report this as credit card fraud.  Seriously.  What does one have to do to get an Apple product to work?

  • Acrobat XI Pro won't activate on Windows 8.1

Acrobat XI Pro won't activate on Windows 8.1 after loading from DVD.  The serial number is recognized as valid, but the Acrobat version choices that are listed don't include Acrobat XI Pro.

It is possible you are installing an upgrade and it is asking you to provide information for the previous version that you already own.  When you purchase an upgrade you are normally asked for which version you already own and the serial number for it as well.

  • Quicktime 7 Pro won't activate

I purchased Quicktime 7 Pro, registered it in my Preferences under my existing Quicktime 7.6.9 version, the registration was successful with the "Pro" indicator showing on the Quicktime logo, but the Pro version won't activate, even after restarting my computer. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

Can you explain what you mean by "the pro version won't activate?" There is no separate "pro" version. When the QT 7 Player accepts "Pro" registration, it merely allows you to access functions not available in the basic player such as exporting files to different compression formats, access to the "Property" window allowing you to mask, layer, merge, scale, offset, rotate, apply filters to data, etc.

  • Quicktime pro won't install

Upon downloading and installing, my 10.5.8 system restarts, then there is no evidence of Quicktime Pro on my machine.
    Multiple tries, same result.
    Downloading again doesn't help.
    Why won't this puppy install?

There is no such thing as a QuickTime pro download.
QuickTime Player is already installed on your machine. You enable to Pro features by entering the registation info you got in the email confirmation.

  • Quicktime Pro won't open an MPEG movie file with the Quicktime icon

What am I missing? Not getting? I have several MPEG movie files that proudly sport the Quicktime icon, but the Quicktime app tells me they're not movie files.
If Quicktime won't open them, is there conversion software I can use?
    So much for productivity.

Didn't even consider it. I thought that because the file displayed the Quicktime icon and because I have Quicktime Pro, that Quicktime would play the file.
Unfortunately, this is a common misconception. However, now that you understand the problem, you can work on a solution. Basically, if by MPEG your are referring to common MPEG-2/MP2 content 'multiplexed" to an MPEG container, these can be played in the QT Player (or Front Row or iTunes) if you install the QT MPEG-2 Playback component ($19.99). However, be advised that this is a video only component, so it does not make "muxed" AC3 MPEG-2 files playback compatible with the QT player. Luckily, if you do decide to install this component, the free MPEG Streamclip application will allow you to play or convert such files to any QT compatible audio and video format for which you system is configured. Or, if all you want to do is play MPEG-2 video files without investing in the QT component, then you can view them with VLC but may have trouble converting them to a QT compatible format. HandBrake will also convert them without investing in the MPEG-2 component, but greatly limits your conversion possibilities. I personally would recommend buying the component as Neil recommended since it offers the greatest flexibility for playing without conversion, as well as, the most conversion options for all normal MPEP-2 Program and Transport Stream files you are likely to encounter using QT 7 Pro and/or MPEG Streamclip depending on the specific source content what you want to do with the final files.

  • QuickTime Pro won't load to Snow Leopard

I own QuickTime Pro. By virtue of owning Final Cut Studio.
But it doesn't work right on my newly Snow Leopard-ized 8 core tower.
I download QT 7 from the QTP page, but it won't install because:
"QuickTime can't be installed on this disk. This version of
QuickTime 7 can't be installed on this disk because
QuickTime X is already present. Please use Software
Update to install the appropriate version of QuickTime
    for your Mac."
    %$#@!!
The "QuickTime Player 7" menu item isn't the same as on other Macs. It doesn't show a "QuickTime Preferences" item, only a "Preferences" item, so many things can't be done with it.
Registration shows three blank lines but "Apple Pro Apps User" in small type at the bottom.
Even though it announces itself as QuickTime Player 7, it does most things that QuickTime Pro has always done, but I can't even update it with a fresh install, it seems.
I don't care at all for QuickTime X, but it seems intent on blocking my way.
    How to get around it?

That version fails to show the "QuickTime Preferences" item in the drop down menu that includes "Preferences," which was my reason behind trying to update it.
Yes, it was replaced by the single registration option which no longer accesses the system preferences window.
Its QTPro features seem to work, but I can't, for instance, select Kiosk mode through any of the current menu items... Am I stuck until Apple brings out a non-interim version? They've had a year...
Haven't tried using it lately, but the "Kiosk" option is still available as a QTL file option if you can use a QTL file for whatever you want to do.

  • Pro won't activate

Support Subject : QuickTime Pro Question
Sub Issue :I Can't install my registration code
Code installs and on the control panel: it changes to quicktime pro on the control panel as in the instructions but the program when opened remains in the basic version (options grayed out/ under help says its basic).
I am an administrator on my laptop.
I have deleted and reinstalled with the same results.
    I have a XP 2 GB RAM AMD Turion 64 2.19 Ghz
Please help me activate the Pro features.
HP Pavillion Windows XP Media Center edition

If it changed to "Pro" and the "Pro" labels have disappeared, then your registration has been correct entered.
Are you trying to edit MPEG files? If so, that's your problem; QuickTime Player cannot edit multiplexed MPEG tracks. You have to demultiplex them before you bring them into QuickTime. MPEG Streamclip is an application many people use with success.

  • Quicktime Pro won't recognize my video camera.

The video camera is attached to the computer via Firewire. I checked and the computer recognizes that the camera is attached by Firewire.
I'm trying to transfer already-shot video from the video camera into Quictime Pro, but when I turn on the camera and play the video and click the NEW MOVIE RECORDING link in Quictime - I get a message "NO RECORDING DEVICE FOUND".
Does anyone know what I have to do to get Quicktime Pro to recognize the video camera?
    Thanks

When I import the video into iMovie, iMovie squashes the widescreen video into a rectangle with the dimensions of a TV screen, and there doesn't seem to be any way to turn it back into a distortion-free widescreen image.
I would upgrade iMovie (from 3.03), but Apple doesn't seem to sell the upgrade anymore (not that will work in OS X 10.3.9.)
I have Quicktime Pro and iMovie and I can't get the video out of my camcorder and into my computer.

  • Help Quicktime Pro will not Activate

I purchased the full version of Quicktime Pro 7 on December 28th last year, and I wish to reinstall it on a fresh new iMac, but every-time I enter the activation codes and my name (which are exactly as Apple supplied them in the original sale receipt email) it comes back as "Invalid Code"
I have tried cut and pasting them in, inputting them manually (making sure that the correct case is used) all to no effect.
It is driving me absolutely nuts, and I cannot find any where to contact Apple for help on this. It would appear that Apple are of the opinion that "...we have the money - sort it out yourself..."
Can anyone here please help or advise me on this as I am really fed up with it.
    Kind regards
    Drusus

Sorry I should have explained better.
The key was purchased for the Mac version on Dec. 28 2005 when I bought my iMac which is a PowerPC version.
I should have said I was installing it on a freshly formatted iMac (I was having a few problems with Adobe Creative Suite and decided to do a fresh 'erase & Install of OS X on the iMac to help clear out some of the crud that had accrued) and seeing as this is the same machine it was installed on prior to the reinstall of the O/S, it should still work.
Everything else works just fine, in fact better now that I have done the 'Erase & Install'.
I cannot find anywhere for the telephone support for Apple in the UK, and even then as I understand I have to pay £35 for the pleasure as it is over 90 since I registered it.
I cannot say that I think Apples support is very good at all - everywhere I look it just points me back to the Discussions forums.

  • QuickTime Pro won't let me save a file from a website

I have QuickTime Pro 7.0 Normally I can right click a link in Mail and select, "Download linked file" and it will allow me to save an MP3. Not this time. Other times, once actually on a website, I can click on the button on the web based version of QuickTime and save a local copy. However, I can't do that on this website:
    http://survive2thrive.gsradio.net:8080/120309.mp3
    Does anyone know why?
    Thanks!

    Copy the URL.
In Safari open the download window (Cmd-Opt-L)
    Paste.
    OR
Paste the URL in the Addressfield
Option-Return and the file will download.

  • A/V tweaks made in quicktime pro won't appear when imported to imovie

I have a file I pulled from the internet, tweaked the sound and color in Quicktime Pro and saved the file (tried both .mov and mp4) but when I try to import file into imovie or export file from Quicktime to imovie the movie file does not have the adjustments I made in Quicktime.
The file will play the same way as the original I pulled from internet.
    Notes:
Quicktime will open and play the new file with tweaks as saved.
I have burned the tweaked Quicktime file to a disk, given it to some to try in their computer and the file plays without the tweaks.
I would really appreciate any help you may have!
    Thanks!

The A/V "tweaks" are local to the QT player -- not embedded in the movie file. If you plan to edit in iMovie, make your adjustments in iMovie. If simply converting the content from one compression format to another, use an application like MPEG Streamclip (free) to make such adjustments.

  • Quicktime Pro won't play my .avi videos

I got a bunch of .avi videos, they are encoded using xvid codec. They play fine in media player but don't play at all in Quicktime. What codecs do I need for Quicktime Pro 7?

You need a codec that plays the compression a particular avi is encoded in. You can try these two sites for codecs that play most recent avi files

  • Quicktime pro won't work on windows 7

    Hi,
I've purchased/installed Quicktime Pro.  There were no issues with installation or registration of the software.  I'm unable to get Quicktime to play any of my saved movie files, .avi or .mov file.  When I click on play the slider start to progress however, there is no video or audio.
I have installed the codec pack from the DivX site, this made no difference.  When attempting to play a file there are no errors.
    Any advice owuld be appreciated.
    Thank-you in advance.

    Hello,
Thanks for the post.  On this one, I have a couple of ideas.  I've pasted the links below.  One is for the Win7/64 driver page and the print diagnostic utility.  I would certainly recommend the utility to help narrow down the issue.  The other is a queue related document which has some excellent information.  Good Luck!
