Quicktime PRO won't load

I have the 64bit of iTunes with bonjour and all that. I also got this Quicktime PRO 7.6.9 It was updated today.
Look at the pic below helppp.
my computer info is in my profile.
http://s1137.photobucket.com/albums/n507/computeRrRUS/?action=view&current=unkno wn3.jpg

That version fails to show the "QuickTime Preferences" item in the drop down menu that includes "Preferences," which was my reason behind trying to update it.
Yes, it was replaced by the single registration option which no longer accesses the system preferences window.
Its QTPro features seem to work, but I can't, for instance, select Kiosk mode through any of the current menu items... Am I stuck until Apple brings out a non-interim version? They've had a year...
Haven't tried using it lately, but the "Kiosk" option is still available as a QTL file option if you can use a QTL file for whatever you want to do.

  • QuickTime Pro won't load to Snow Leopard

I own QuickTime Pro. By virtue of owning Final Cut Studio.
But it doesn't work right on my newly Snow Leopard-ized 8 core tower.
I download QT 7 from the QTP page, but it won't install because:
"QuickTime can't be installed on this disk. This version of
QuickTime 7 can't be installed on this disk because
QuickTime X is already present. Please use Software
Update to install the appropriate version of QuickTime
    for your Mac."
    %$#@!!
The "QuickTime Player 7" menu item isn't the same as on other Macs. It doesn't show a "QuickTime Preferences" item, only a "Preferences" item, so many things can't be done with it.
Registration shows three blank lines but "Apple Pro Apps User" in small type at the bottom.
Even though it announces itself as QuickTime Player 7, it does most things that QuickTime Pro has always done, but I can't even update it with a fresh install, it seems.
I don't care at all for QuickTime X, but it seems intent on blocking my way.
    How to get around it?

  • My MacBook Pro won't load any websites on Safari (except this site, Facebook and Google), Opera, or Mozilla Firefox. I already did the "Reset Safari", restarted the computer half a dozen times, and I can't find this alleged "caches.db" file to delete.

My MacBook Pro won't load any websites on Safari (except this site, Facebook and Google). Opera and Mozilla Firefox won't load any sites whatsoever. I already did the "Reset Safari" several times, restarted the computer half a dozen times, and I can't find this alleged "caches.db" file to delete. I virus scanned the computer with Sophos, Avast, and iAntiVirus and it looks clean.

Is iAntiVirus the best virus protection to use for a MacBook?
The best anti-virus protection is your own common sense, and what you already bought and paid for with your Mac. Third party products such as "iAntiVirus" convey no additional benefit, and as you already determined are very capable of causing trouble.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • Just bought Quicktime Pro, can't load into V10, but won't allow me to install V7 with V10 Present.

OK I video'd my bands latest gig on the weekends using I-Movie, but when played back on I-movie, the video / Audio are over 10 seconds out of sync.  Common Problem apparently, however on Quicktime it runs smoothly, so I was told I need to edit it in Quicktime Pro.  Easier said that done.  Quicktime Pro is only available for V7, I have V10 installed, and it will not allow me to install V7 when V10 is installed. Already paid for the rego, so not Freaking impressed with Apple having such a F..d up system in place where they do not keep the Pro version up to date with the free version.  What do I do?

There is a version of 7 that works with 10.  Does this link help?

  • Acrobat Pro won't load since I reinstalled Photoshop

Had to reinstall Photoshop CS5 today. Acrobat Pro 9 now won't load. Says Suite Product Activation Needed. It asked that I start another component of the suite. I had Photoshop open and it would not load. Any suggestions are welcome. See attched alert image.

I hope this gets through, since I am now not able to even log in to my adobe account (even though I've been an Adobe customer for over 20 years). My user ID and password stopped working at 4:00 today. Was on the phone with adobe for hours, and they are not able to even get me access to my account or products that I bought from them.
Yes Adobe CS5. Tried restarting. Thanks, but didn't work. Adobe said I need to do a complete reinstall of CS5 to get Acrobat to work. I asked "Then why do you give the option of reinstalling apps individually?" No answer. That's when we discovered that I could no longer even access my account or download my purchased products. They said they are "elevating the matter" and I will here from someone in 24-48 hours. So apparently "elevating" means "We are hanging up now. Talk to you in a few days." Try explaining that to my clients.

  • Quicktime pro won't install

Upon downloading and installing, my 10.5.8 system restarts, then there is no evidence of Quicktime Pro on my machine.
    Multiple tries, same result.
    Downloading again doesn't help.
    Why won't this puppy install?

There is no such thing as a QuickTime pro download.
QuickTime Player is already installed on your machine. You enable to Pro features by entering the registation info you got in the email confirmation.

  • My macbook pro won't load all the way when I start it up.

Lately, my mac book pro has been slow to use, and the colour wheel pops up often. I shut it down earlier today, and now when I try to start it up, it won't load all the way. When I do manage to get to the homescreen, the applications and toolbars won't load. Any ideas what the issue might be and how I can fix it?

It could be a number of issues, Fred.
Have you optimized your photos to no larger than 1000x750 pixels, per the FAQs to the right of this forum? Oversized photos are the chief reason for these types of failures.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/431851?tstart=0
You also say your videos are MP4s. Are these AVCHD video or are they from a "webbie" camcorder, such as the Flip cam? Flip video uses a proprietary codec that often jams up video editors. This is also covered in our FAQs.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/437535?tstart=0
Finally, have you ensured that the drive you are saving your video to has adequate free space and is freshly defragmented? You should always have at least 30 gigs of free space on your drive plus 30-50 more for each hour of video you're outputting.
And, if you are exporting to a drive other than your C drive, you should ensure that the drive is formatted NTFS rather than FAT32. FAT32 drives have a file size limit that often chokes video output.

  • Quicktime Pro won't open an MPEG movie file with the Quicktime icon

What am I missing? Not getting? I have several MPEG movie files that proudly sport the Quicktime icon, but the Quicktime app tells me they're not movie files.
If Quicktime won't open them, is there conversion software I can use?
    So much for productivity.

Didn't even consider it. I thought that because the file displayed the Quicktime icon and because I have Quicktime Pro, that Quicktime would play the file.
Unfortunately, this is a common misconception. However, now that you understand the problem, you can work on a solution. Basically, if by MPEG your are referring to common MPEG-2/MP2 content 'multiplexed" to an MPEG container, these can be played in the QT Player (or Front Row or iTunes) if you install the QT MPEG-2 Playback component ($19.99). However, be advised that this is a video only component, so it does not make "muxed" AC3 MPEG-2 files playback compatible with the QT player. Luckily, if you do decide to install this component, the free MPEG Streamclip application will allow you to play or convert such files to any QT compatible audio and video format for which you system is configured. Or, if all you want to do is play MPEG-2 video files without investing in the QT component, then you can view them with VLC but may have trouble converting them to a QT compatible format. HandBrake will also convert them without investing in the MPEG-2 component, but greatly limits your conversion possibilities. I personally would recommend buying the component as Neil recommended since it offers the greatest flexibility for playing without conversion, as well as, the most conversion options for all normal MPEP-2 Program and Transport Stream files you are likely to encounter using QT 7 Pro and/or MPEG Streamclip depending on the specific source content what you want to do with the final files.

  • QuickTime suddenly won't load trailers embedded in webpages via safari

    Hi all,
Suddenly, QuickTime won't load trailers or movies embedded in webpages via safari. Can someone help?
    Thanks,
    Elissa

Vanessa, did you try the suggestions already mentioned in this thread?
Never post your email address in a public forum. Spam bots roam public forums looking for "spam victims".
If you insist on using your email address in a public forum & you want to "trick" the spam bots, then suggest that instead of using "@ "in the email address, use instead the actual word AT.
Regarding responding to your emal addy, we ask that you post all questions to the appropriate discussion forum. This allows other users and other helpers to have a chance to view and respond to your post. That way, everyone benefits from the exchange.
    Thank you

My MacBook Pro won't start up, just loads to a grey screen.. Please help anyone?

  • Quicktime Pro won't recognize my video camera.

The video camera is attached to the computer via Firewire. I checked and the computer recognizes that the camera is attached by Firewire.
I'm trying to transfer already-shot video from the video camera into Quictime Pro, but when I turn on the camera and play the video and click the NEW MOVIE RECORDING link in Quictime - I get a message "NO RECORDING DEVICE FOUND".
Does anyone know what I have to do to get Quicktime Pro to recognize the video camera?
    Thanks

When I import the video into iMovie, iMovie squashes the widescreen video into a rectangle with the dimensions of a TV screen, and there doesn't seem to be any way to turn it back into a distortion-free widescreen image.
I would upgrade iMovie (from 3.03), but Apple doesn't seem to sell the upgrade anymore (not that will work in OS X 10.3.9.)
I have Quicktime Pro and iMovie and I can't get the video out of my camcorder and into my computer.

  • QuickTime Pro won't let me save a file from a website

I have QuickTime Pro 7.0 Normally I can right click a link in Mail and select, "Download linked file" and it will allow me to save an MP3. Not this time. Other times, once actually on a website, I can click on the button on the web based version of QuickTime and save a local copy. However, I can't do that on this website:
    http://survive2thrive.gsradio.net:8080/120309.mp3
    Does anyone know why?
    Thanks!

    Copy the URL.
In Safari open the download window (Cmd-Opt-L)
    Paste.
    OR
Paste the URL in the Addressfield
Option-Return and the file will download.
