Quicktime pro won't work on windows 7

Hi,
I've purchased/installed Quicktime Pro.  There were no issues with installation or registration of the software.  I'm unable to get Quicktime to play any of my saved movie files, .avi or .mov file.  When I click on play the slider start to progress however, there is no video or audio.
I have installed the codec pack from the DivX site, this made no difference.  When attempting to play a file there are no errors.
Any advice owuld be appreciated.
Thank-you in advance.
Cheers...Bruce

Hello,
Thanks for the post.  On this one, I have a couple of ideas.  I've pasted the links below.  One is for the Win7/64 driver page and the print diagnostic utility.  I would certainly recommend the utility to help narrow down the issue.  The other is a queue related document which has some excellent information.  Good Luck!

  • Magic Mouse won't work in Windows 7 anymore

    Hey there,
I've got an iMac running OS X 10.6.8 and Windows 7 via Boot Camp. I just updated a bunch of the Apple stuff on Windows -- iTunes, Quicktime, "boot camp" (I assume that meant drivers and such), and whatnot. Now my Magic Mouse won't work in Windows 7. It was fine before, so I assume the update screwed something up. Help? I know nothing of retrieving old drivers and stuff like that.
Note: I am running Snow Leopard, NOT Lion.

    Hi bsruff,
If you are having issues with your Magic Mouse in Windows 7 via Boot Camp after upgrading to Mavericks, you may find the following article helpful:

  • Acrobat XI Pro won't activate on Windows 8.1

Acrobat XI Pro won't activate on Windows 8.1 after loading from DVD.  The serial number is recognized as valid, but the Acrobat version choices that are listed don't include Acrobat XI Pro.

It is possible you are installing an upgrade and it is asking you to provide information for the previous version that you already own.  When you purchase an upgrade you are normally asked for which version you already own and the serial number for it as well.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 will work under windows vista?

    Hi,
Thanks for posting on forum. Windows Vista is not a supported platform for Adobe Premiere pro CS6 but, you can try the installation on Vista and check if it gets installed on it. Also, if it gets installed you might face further issues while using the product.
    Thanks,

  • DVD Player on MacBook Pro won't work?

My DVD player on my MacBook Pro won't work! I can hear the sound of the video, but the actual image won't appear. Plus, I can't watch things on Youtube in full screen anymore because my computer won't show it. And finally, some of my images are very pixelated. I'm getting super frustrated that nothing will work. Please help me!

Many times, these types of problems can be 'fixed' by using a commerical DVD 'cleaning' kit (usually available at local electronics stores, Amazon, etc.). If 'cleaning' doesn't work, you may have a faulty SuperDrive. But I would try the cleaning method first, beofre taking your machine into an Apple Store or AASP.
    Good luck,

  • Quicktime 7 Pro won't work

I'm on Windows XP. I purchased QT 7 Pro and have the registration code. I've entered the code in the registration window.
When I open the QT icon, a message at the bottom hangs on "Loading". QT is evidently trying to connect to the web through IE, which does not work on my pc (I had IE7, uninstalled it and installed IE 8, it still does not work.)
My question is: How can I get QT to connect to the web,and accept my registration, using Firefox instead?
Any guidance you can provide is really, really appreciated. I'm trying edit a documentary for my 88 year old father-in-law. Thanks!

I solved my own problem by Googling.
If IE won't work (if it won't connect to the Internet):
In IE go to TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, CONNECTIONS, LAN SETTINGS.
    Uncheck everything.
    Click OK.
Apparently this is a fairly widespread problem.

  • QuickTime Pro won't load to Snow Leopard

I own QuickTime Pro. By virtue of owning Final Cut Studio.
But it doesn't work right on my newly Snow Leopard-ized 8 core tower.
I download QT 7 from the QTP page, but it won't install because:
"QuickTime can't be installed on this disk. This version of
QuickTime 7 can't be installed on this disk because
QuickTime X is already present. Please use Software
Update to install the appropriate version of QuickTime
    for your Mac."
    %$#@!!
The "QuickTime Player 7" menu item isn't the same as on other Macs. It doesn't show a "QuickTime Preferences" item, only a "Preferences" item, so many things can't be done with it.
Registration shows three blank lines but "Apple Pro Apps User" in small type at the bottom.
Even though it announces itself as QuickTime Player 7, it does most things that QuickTime Pro has always done, but I can't even update it with a fresh install, it seems.
I don't care at all for QuickTime X, but it seems intent on blocking my way.
    How to get around it?

That version fails to show the "QuickTime Preferences" item in the drop down menu that includes "Preferences," which was my reason behind trying to update it.
Yes, it was replaced by the single registration option which no longer accesses the system preferences window.
Its QTPro features seem to work, but I can't, for instance, select Kiosk mode through any of the current menu items... Am I stuck until Apple brings out a non-interim version? They've had a year...
Haven't tried using it lately, but the "Kiosk" option is still available as a QTL file option if you can use a QTL file for whatever you want to do.

  • Quicktime broadcaster won't work since upgrade to Tiger!

this is probably the worst experience i've had trying to get support from Apple. nothing remotely resembling my problem is anywhere in the knowledge base. here's the deal...
i used broadcaster every week prior to upgrade without any problems...NOW...i am unable to "enable video stream" since upgrading to Tiger. All I can broadcast is audio.
I EVEN have AppleCare support for my computer but Apple still won't help me!!!! I spent all day on this and need it to work TOMORROW MORNING! didn't expect any problems since it worked fine before.
    Signed,
A disappointed customer who has used Apple Computers for 20+ years!

Okay....after a few more hours I decided to reinstall Quicktime Player and then re-enter my quicktime Pro registration key. Now it works. I'm still disappointed that Apple wouldn't help me with this though. Not the service I'm used to.
So...quicktime broadcaster users be advised of this need to reinstall quicktime after upgrading to Tiger. It wasn't just my g5 that was affected...I checked it out on my g4 powerbook and also had the same problem.

  • My registration to Quicktime Pro didn't work!

I just bought a key registration to Quicktime Pro (QT7) and after inputing the key into the box called Registration it appears that it was not accepted. I get the following information:"Invalid Registration".
Can someone tell me what I have to do to solve that?
I have installed in my Macbook the latest version of Quicktime, so I guess this is not the problem.

Copy and paste the registration into the registration form. The registration must be exactly as it appears in your email.
If that doesn't work, make sure you brought the registration for Mac and not Windows.

  • My Quicktime 7 won't work. I have purchased a key code and followed instructions but videos won't play

Hello - can anyone help please? I have upgraded my software to Quicktime 7 and purchased a registration code. When I enter it, there is no box to click enter and when I press the tab key, nothing happens? I spent £20 on the code and my videos still won't play? Can anyone help please?

It may sound silly, but i had an issue with my Quicktime Pro key (Quicktime 7) where the key was not accepted due to my not using capital letters on my first and last name. My iMac auto capitalized when I entered the info when i purchased the Pro key.  Once I used the Capitals on my registration,  my old key worked fine.  Hope this helps.

  • Quicktime Pro will not upgrade on Windows 8.1

Purchased Quicktime Pro via Apple Store- applied the the registration key and the app reports "invalid registration". Quicktime version 7.7.5.
    TOSHIBA Satellite P75-A
    WINDOWS 8.1
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU@ 2.40GHz 240GHz
    8GB RAM
    64-bit OS, x64-based processor

Duhhh...needed to change the "registered to" name field- it had previously defaulted to my email address...when I applied my Apple Store ID name, in the "registered to" - the upgrade worked.
This should be noted in the email with the license key/upgrade sent to the purchaser.

  • Quicktime Pro won't open an MPEG movie file with the Quicktime icon

What am I missing? Not getting? I have several MPEG movie files that proudly sport the Quicktime icon, but the Quicktime app tells me they're not movie files.
If Quicktime won't open them, is there conversion software I can use?
    So much for productivity.

Didn't even consider it. I thought that because the file displayed the Quicktime icon and because I have Quicktime Pro, that Quicktime would play the file.
Unfortunately, this is a common misconception. However, now that you understand the problem, you can work on a solution. Basically, if by MPEG your are referring to common MPEG-2/MP2 content 'multiplexed" to an MPEG container, these can be played in the QT Player (or Front Row or iTunes) if you install the QT MPEG-2 Playback component ($19.99). However, be advised that this is a video only component, so it does not make "muxed" AC3 MPEG-2 files playback compatible with the QT player. Luckily, if you do decide to install this component, the free MPEG Streamclip application will allow you to play or convert such files to any QT compatible audio and video format for which you system is configured. Or, if all you want to do is play MPEG-2 video files without investing in the QT component, then you can view them with VLC but may have trouble converting them to a QT compatible format. HandBrake will also convert them without investing in the MPEG-2 component, but greatly limits your conversion possibilities. I personally would recommend buying the component as Neil recommended since it offers the greatest flexibility for playing without conversion, as well as, the most conversion options for all normal MPEP-2 Program and Transport Stream files you are likely to encounter using QT 7 Pro and/or MPEG Streamclip depending on the specific source content what you want to do with the final files.
