Quicktime-related apps close on startup
This problem started a while back when I installed an upgrade for iTunes in order to continue downloading songs. Unfortunately when I had completed the update and opened iTunes, the program closed about a half-second after opening.
As if this wasn't bad enough, it now seems that ever program that uses Quicktime (except for Firefox) now does exactly the same thing. This includes the Quicktime player itself, and both versions my 3D modelling app Cinema 4D. What's going on here?
This might not be a solution, but worth a try if you're running WinXP and if you have time:
Make sure you're logged on with Administrator rights, close all open programs and disable antivirus software.
1. Uninstall iTunes and QuickTime
2. Make sure QuickTime hasn't left stuff behind:
a. In Explorer, go to your "Program Files" directory and delete the iTunes and QuickTime directories if they are still there.
b. Go to your user profile directory (usually C:\Documents and Settings\<username>) then "Application Data" (which is usually a hidden directory). Inside "Application Data" you might find subdirectories "QuickTime" or "Apple Computer\QuickTime", and "AppleComputer\iTunes". If they're still there delete them.
c. Go to your \Windows\System32 direcory and delete QuickTime.
d. Start->Run... regedit and navigate to "\HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc.\" then delete both the iTunes and QuickTime keys if they are still there.
e. There are lots more QuickTime related registry settings that might be left behind, but ignore them for now.
3. Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
If the above doesn't fix the problem, a last resort could be to install and run MS Visual Studio (C++). This will often catch runtime errors in other software and provide you with some detailed error information which should help pinpoint the underlying problem.

I've restored a couple times and get the same thing. Setup as a new iPod, restored from a backup...nothing. What's going on here?

ITunes Encountered a problem and needs to close on startup

I'm running the latest version of iTunes (7.1.1.5) on a desktop computer with Windows XP (SP2) and I've had no problems with it up until today. After using iTunes fine yesterday, I tried to open it up today and I get a Windows error message saying "iTunes has encountered an problem and needs to close" on startup before the iTunes window even pops up at all. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes as well as replacing the library files with those from another computer (sometimes the ones on this computer get corrupted). But neither of those have changed anything, I still get the same message every time, no matter what I try or how many times I restart. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and I can provide any additional information that might be helpful.
Windows XP ProI did get a "server busy" message when I loaded quicktime, but I'm not sure if it is related or not since I've been seeing that over the last couple of days, I can't remember if it came before iTunes stopped working or not. That message reads "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'switch to' to activate the busy program and correct the problem." My options then are to choose switch to or retry. When I press "switch to" my Start menu opens, and nothing appears to happen when I select retry.
that's an odd sort of a message (or series of messages).
hmmmmm. let's try an experiment aimed at working out if there's a program interfering with the QuickTime (which is in turn causing grief with your iTunes).
try a selective startup using MSCONFIG, with just the itunes and QuickTime background processes enabled, as per the following document:

Dreamweaver CC & CC 2014 closes on startup
I installed Dreamweaver CC 2014 and it closes on startup. Dreamweaver CC stopped working also. (all other CC 2014 apps are working)
I created a new user account and tested. Both Dreamweaver versions works there...
I have:
tried with java 1.6 and 1.8
uninstalled (with cleaner) and re-installed removing settings
removed all files in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
removed all adobe file in ~/Library/Preferences/
run Disk Utility and repaired permissions and disk
logged in without all startup items
checked for bad fonts with Font Book
Still everything works on my new test account, but not on my nomal account
I can't find any logs...I'm sorry to hear that this happened and that your circumstances are different than mine. My issue happened during one of the new Mac OS installs. I used to either archive and install or do clean installs whenever I updated OSX because it has been unreliable at times to update and re-configure permission with each new release. However with the new app store approach these options are no longer available.
Moving files between user accounts is not an overly difficult task, although it can be time consuming, a couple hours max. Regardless, it is probably better to do this now then to wait for more problems to occur because corrupt user profiles do happen at times on Mac (and occasionally Windows too) and has been known to affect more software than just Adobe. Below are some steps involved to help get you started:
First, programs do not need to be migrated in the default setup. Unless you are on a system controlled by an administrator whereby each user installs their own, I don't think this should be an issue.
Next, just create a new account (with admin privileges if your current account is an admin).
Then go to the finder and copy the files from your old user account to the new one. This is located at Macintosh HD :: Users :: {username}
Then go to the preferences folder in the user library. For this log in as your current account, then use the Go to Folder command ( Shift + Cmd + G ). For the most part only the Application Support folder needs to be brought over. There are a few exceptions like Firefox/Mozilla profiles are in their own folder in the Library. Outside of that you should be good to go. -

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful. -
For some reason, when my Macbook Pro starts up now, all of the MS Office applications open. This was not happening when I first purchased the laptop, and I never added these apps to the startup menu. How do I remove these apps from startup?
By default Mac apps do not close when you close the window you were working in. Unlike in Windows when you click the top right X icon in any program is closes the window and the program shuts down. On Mac OS X clicking the X in the top left hand corner only closes that windows and leave the program running in the background. If they are left open and you reboot they will restart with the system and load a window for them.

QT 7.04: Export to AIFF causes Crash in all QT related apps

Here is my scenario though:
When trying to export a group of clips ( 2 hrs in length)
captured in iMovie 4.01,
to disc using the export to Mpeg-2 QT option, the audio doesn't fully export, it stops at the 55 minute mark, and
forgets the rest, although the file itself is the correct length ( the rest of where the audio is missed, is filled with blank space).
The capture itself is fine, and plays with audio to
the end of the two hour capture.
So I went back and tried just an export to AIFf using
iMovie to Quicktime Expert option, however, it causes
iMovie to crash.
When I go into QT Pro 7.04, and try to "preset" the
Audio export options there, it casues it to crash.
If I try and do an export to Aiff from Final Cut Pro 4.5,
it causes Final Cut to crash.
I looked back over the recent three weeks before this, and the only things I have installed recently have been
MpegStreamclip 1.7, and ffmpegx 0.0.9w.
I will try trashing the QT Prefs, as well as the prefs
for iMovie and FCP, but does anyone have any ideas?
I have aslo tried various other files, and if I try
to export AIFF, as long as i don't click the options,
it won't crash, but it won't complete either...Hmm, I thought I had made it clear that the source originated
as a 2hour DV capture in iMovie?
When did QT abandon the Export to MPeg-2 feature?

and began to use it on and off in QT 7.01 and 7.02,
when I don't have the time/inclination to
setup a Batch and run it overnight in Compressor 1.2.1.
But we are digressing, because although that might

for DVD Studio Pro, that still doesn't address
the issues with why just the audio drops out
(flatlines) after 55 minutes, or why exporting directly
to AIFF through QT causes every QT related app

Creative Cloud (app) crashes on startup after update
After the last update (which probably went wrong), creative cloud application (the menubar app) crashes on startup.
I've tried uninstalling (uninstaller stalls) and running Creative Cloud Cleanup Tool but to no avail.
Below I've included an excerpt of the crash report from the log (I could post the complete log report but that seems to cause troubles posting).
Anybody have any suggestions?

Since recent updates of iOS, I have noticed when using my iPad that my apps close automatically when I have to leave the room or am otherwise distracted for a few minutes. It is sometimes time consuming to sign back in and get back to the task where i left off. Is there a setting I can change so it will keep the apps open until I am ready to close them? Thanks for your help.
Did you have this problem before Restoring you iPad?
If you did then did you restore with a backup. You may have reinstalled something that is conflicting in this back up
If not then sounds like either something went array with the clean install or a hardware issue.
I know it's long winded but have you tired a clean install then downloading the apps again?

Email not opening on my iPad2 This is a sudden thing, email had been working fine since purchasing the device then today would not stay open, now it will not open at all. After trying to open mail I receive a white screen for a nano second and the app closes.
Have you tried closing the Mail app completely ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
I have a new iPhone for work, set up on a new iTunes account (PC). I was told i can associate it to my home iTunes account (iMac) but don't know how. I want to save the work related apps as well. Any advice? Thanks
Thanks. I messed up with my husbands iphone because I was told the wrong thing. Now everytime I sync his phone it makes it look just like the other phone I had. Do you know how I can fix taht for his phone? Any settings I can turn off that will prevent all of my apps/contacts, etc from auto populating his phone?

My Creative Cloud Desktop app closes suddenly when loads palicativos installed. I can not update my apps. Already reinstalled the desktop app CC often using adobe cc cleaner. It does not uninstall the normal way. What do I do? I can not contact anyone here in Brazil. I've tried phone, facebook, email and chat.

After installing Maverick, my downloaded movies will not play in Quick Time. I receive the following error message:
You can’t open the application “QuickTime Player.app” because it may be damaged or incomplete. So I tried to unistall QT and I get an error that says, You can not delete this application as it is a requirement for the OSX.
Well I did find a way to delete it, by going into the various components and one by one deleting it. Now I reinstall it and the message is that this Quick Time is for an earlier version before Maverick 7. SMH....Now what.?Hello, terrygav.

Quicktime Will Not Close Open Windows
After I record a video Quicktime refuses to close any windows from those recordings. When the red X is clicked quicktime will lag out for a few seconds at the end of which the window has not been closed. The only way to get the window to close is to quit Quicktime with the "Close windows when quitting an application" preference enabled in the System Preferences > General. If this preference is not enabled, Quicktime will refuse to quit and the program must be Force Quit.
I've gone and done the usual troubleshooting steps like rebooting, deleting preferences, etc... This does not solve this issue leading me to believe it's either a poorly thought out "feature" or a bug. Unless there is some new paradigm of closing windows that I am not familiar with of closing window, thanks to Apple;s new paradigm of changing tried and true methodologies for new "simpler", "let us do that for you" ones, this is extremely annoying for someone who want to itterate through multiple video takes quickly without unnecessarily tieing up system resources. If I make a video that I don't want I want to just trash it and be done with it.
Anyway, does anyone know if there is any way to fix this so that I don't have dozens of videos active?Lets do a few things.

2. Open up QuickTime player.
3. Click on Edit> QuickTime Preferences>Advanced.
4. In the center of this section there is a "Video" section select Safe Mode.
5. Click on Ok and go ahead and close out of QuickTime.
I have also noted that there are SEVERAL bugs with QuickTime and Nvidia Chips.
A few things I suggest you do is to update all of your drivers, and install any pending Windows Updates.

Why have my App Store, iTunes, and my Google related apps stopped working properly?
I was on my iPod and soon figured out that iTunes and Google-related apps weren't working. iTunes kept telling me I 'might be on a server pretending to be iTunes' and won't let me use it. When I open the App store, it tells me that it cannot connect to iTunes. Also, any apps I have that are Google related are on the fritz. My Google Drive won't allow me to view my documents, write new ones, or rename them. It says I'm not connected to the Internet... but I am. Google Translate, YouTube, or my Google Search app weren't working as well. Also having slight issues with Safari but they fix themselves after a moment. I'm not sure what's going on with my apps and I haven't checked other apps for issues so I'm not sure if it's all apps. This started happening after I deleted Spotify. I'm sure it has nothing to do with my app issues but it might be worth mentioning. So what's going on and have any of you had this problem before?
