Quicktime Sharing Feature doesn't extract sound

Anyone know the fix for sharing movie clips with quicktime? The compression on the Video is working fine but the sound seems to be dissappearing. I'm importing Movie Clips into Iphoto then playing them with Quicktime, clicking on share to e mail and the sound is gone when it's moved to Mail.
Thanks for the help.

QuickTime Pro can't extract audio from muxed file formats.
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to export your file.

  • Why is audio disappearing from Extracted Sound Track File?

I extracted the +Sound Track+ from a .mov file which was originally a .wmv file I'd edited and saved in QT Pro. Regarding the original movie from which I extracted the Sound Track, +Movie Properties+ indicated the +Video track+ as being +Sorenson H.263.+ The Sound Track extracted was +MPEG Layer 3.+
+MovieProperties/Audio Settings+ displayed Sound Track as a Mono audio track.
The extracted sound track appeared in a new QT Window/Player as "Untitled".
I hit play and the audio track played. I saved it as a Self-Contained Movie, hit play and it played again, no problem.
    ( +Movie Properties+ still displayed the +Sound Track+ Format as MPEG Layer 3/Mono)
I quit QT Pro and turned my attention to other projects in other applications.
Later, when I booted QT Pro and tried to listen to the Extracted Sound Track File, I hit play and the playhead moved, but there was no audible audio, or indication of audio in the equalizer display. It was as if the audio had disappeared. Opening +Movie Properties,+ the +Extracted Sound Track+ still appeared as MPEG layer 3/Mono and the track was still enabled.
On a hunch, I opened and played the original Movie from which I'd extracted the sound track. After that, I hit play again on the Extracted Sound Track Window/Player and voila! -- the audio miraculously reappeared and was fully audible. I don't understand. Why is this happening? I did save the Extracted Sound Track file as a self-contained movie. It doesn't make sense.
More to the point, _how does one extract a sound track and save/process it such that the extracted sound track remains intact with full playback capability, without first having to play the original movie from which it was extracted in order to make the Extracted Sound Track file playback._

    Thanks RT...
The curious thing is, if I boot the computer and open the +Extracted Sound Track+ file in Quicktime, it's hit or miss. Sometimes the audio is there. Sometimes it's not. If I however, play ANY other Quicktime Movie on my computer and THEN open the +Extracted Sound Track+ File, the audio miraculously reappears. What can it be?
I've got Streamclip. Haven't used it much but I'll try your approach and export the file back to a Quicktime Format.

  • Sharing pictures doesn't work anymore

I used to be able to snap a picture, see the picture, and then on that screen, hit the picture and hit the sharing button to message it to someone (or do other things with it).
Since the last two ios upgrades (6 and above), this feature doesn't work correctly.
    Before:
    1) Click home button
    2) Launch camera using an upswipe on the camera
    3) Take picture
    4) Click on thumbnail in lower left corner
    5) Click on picture that comes up
    6) Select outgoing arrow on bottom
    7) Select message and send pic
    After:
    1) Click home button
    2) Launch camera using an upswipe on the camera
    3) Take picture (btw, my iphone5 pics are *fuzzier* than iphone4!!)
    4) Click on thumbnail in lower left corner
    5) Click on picture that comes up
    6) Try to select outgoing arrow on bottom, but doesn't show up
    7) Click home button
           -- Either --
    8) Launch camera again from home page camera icon
    9) Click on thumbnail on lower left corner of last picture taken
    10) Select outgoing arrow on bottom that *now shows up the second time, but didn't show up the first time* [BUG]
    11) Select message and send pic
          -- OR --
    8) Launch the photos gallery from the photos icon
    9) Choose Camera roll from albums
    10) Try to figure out which picture it was from the thumbnails
    11) Select the picture thumbnail by clicking on it
    12) On the image that comes up, click on it to bring up context menu
    13) Select the outgoing arrow on bottom (the one that doesn't show up in the camera app view) [BUG]
    14) Select message and send pic
The bottom line is, something I do several times a day, used to work great on pre-ios6 and iphone4, now really *****.  I keep waiting for this to get fixed, but apparently it's not, so I wanted to document the process.

    Hi,
    It should work.
Sending any pic file format that Preview can open should be viable.
Check that you are using port 443 in iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts > Server Settings rather than the default port of 5190
iChat by default logs in to the AIm servers on port 5190 ON TCP protocol
Pics in Chat are sent on port 5190 but on UDP Protocol
Some routers and modems do not like this dual use of the port and changing the Login port is a works around and the only port you an change.

My "Find My iPhone" says on map that my phone is here at my house...but it's not! So...I guess that "Find my iphone" feature doesn't work?  Very frustrating.  My iphone volume might be turned off ...does that make a difference if you use the sound locator on the find my iphone?
Tech support INSISTS that the iphone locator on i Cloud is accurate.  How can it be?  My phone is NOT here!

But now after installing Windows 7, many things in windows doesn't work (sound etc.). I made a clean installation because I needed to go from 32 bit to 64 bit.
Or should I just update bootcamp in Lion? (cause when I search for "boot camp" in Windows 7 there's no result)

How do I get this feature working again? I am reluctant to move to iTunes 10.7 because I don't trust Apple at the moment.

    My suggestion:
    1) Always using MAC AIR with the power plug in.
2)Don' let the power level of battory fall under 30% percentage.
3)If the MAC can't be recharged now, just let it be with power plugged, WAIT...

  • Programatically determine if Shared Features installed for VBA

Sometimes users/customers report my Visio application fails with error 438. This usually is the result of a Visio installation where the Office Shared Features do not have VBA enabled/installed.
Is there a way my application installer/setup can determine this?

You can check if corresponding feature is installed for the Visio product (it's called "VBAFiles"). The details depend on the technology you use. Windows Installer has an
    API function (there is also
unmanaged version) to determine if a given feature of a given product is installed or not. Note that since there can be many ProductCodes for Visio (depending on edition, language, service
pack, etc), you may need to check them all. For example, Visio 2013 can have ProductCode = "{90150000-0051-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}". Given this code, you simple check is like this:
    installer.FeatureState ("{90150000-0051-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}", "VBAFiles") = 3
But some numbers in actual ProductCode the user has may be different. Basically, the "stable" parts are:
    XXXXXXXX-005Z-XXXX-XXXX-0000000FF1CE
Instead of X you may have more or less anything. Instead of "00ZZ" you may have only a fixed list (see below). The tail is always fixed. The whole list of Visio product codes can be found in this KB article:
KB2786054: Description of the numbering scheme for product code GUIDs in Office
This code snippet (C#) which just iterates over possible combinations for Visio 2007, 2010, 2013:
    var installerType = Type.GetTypeFromProgID("WindowsInstaller.Installer");
    dynamic installer = Activator.CreateInstance(installerType);
// iterate over all installed products
    foreach (var productCode in installer.Products)
    // Visio "short-codes" see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2786054
    var visioCodes = new [] {"0051", "0052", "0053", "0057" };
// if our product code is Visio product code
    if (visioCodes.Any(visioCode => Regex.IsMatch(productCode,
    string.Format(@"^{{........-{0}-....-....-0000000FF1CE}}$", visioCode))))
// check if VBA is isntalled
    var vbaInstalled = installer.FeatureState(productCode, "VBAFiles") == 3;
Another pair of gotchas: user may have more than one Visio installed, and some of them may have VBA installed and some not. Also, this won't work for Visio for office 365, since it's not installed with MSI but streaming. But since you can't really change
anything in Visio 365 install anyways, it doesn't seem to matter.
Not sure if messing with this worth it though :)

  • TS2972 iTunes sharing features issues only with my newest desktop

Hi, hope someone will find an idea about my strange issue
I migrated my iTunes Library on my more recent desktop (OS Windows7 64 Ultimate)
I still have an old desktop (Windows XP Pro 32) and a laptop (Windows Home Premium 64)
My 2 desktops are plugged with CPL (and a switch)
My laptop is either wifi or direct lan to my routeur switch
All of them are authorised in iTunes.
My iTunes Libs from old desktop and laptop are always seen between my iOS devices, my laptop, my old desktop
My main iTunes lib migrated to my most recent desktop is either seen and shared by all my devices, pc
OR... on this desktop it becomes impossible to share or to see other shared library (both shared libs and home shared libs)
it happens when iTunes starts. From the beginning, if sharing works, it works all the time.
If sharing doesn't work, I found a way to make it come back temporarily :
    - with iTunes still opened, I activate another network card (for instance my wifi receiver which is disabled by default)
    - I close iTunes
    - I desactivate my main network card (it's a Realtek from my mainboard)
    - I cross fingers
    - I restart iTunes
in most cases all my shared libs / homesharing come back. I can see shared stuff from other pc, and i can share to all my network. Then, I activate my Realtek network card and I desactivate the wifi one. Sharing still works.... Until another time when i start iTunes and there is no more sharing features.
Last clue : when i use an app like remote linked to my lib, then I close itunes, then restart, and in the case sharing seems to not work after that, sometimes remote is able to work whereas the library is not broadcasted on my network ... in appearance !
Any idea ? any similar cases ?

Figured out my problem sharing my music library on a new iPad Mini (I think).  Two issues:  (1) I have two Apple IDs, the result of doing one years ago and forgetting about it when I set up another; Apple doesn't seem to be able to ever merge or otherwise fix this problem, despite the best efforts of smart folks at the Genius Bar plus of course I'm forced to have 3rd ID as my iCloud username, but never mind....).  I was logged in as one Apple ID and my music library is under the other.  Went to "Music" under settings, signed out under "Home Sharing" on that page, signed in again as the other Apple ID.  (2) Realized then that it was trying to share music from something called my iPad library instead of the library under my name, which is where my music is.  When I fixed these two things, it all shared nicely.  Whew!

  • I use idisk for providing a library of music scores to an orchestra.  Will icloud provide similar file sharing features?

I use idisk for providing a library of music scores to an orchestra.  Will icloud provide similar file sharing features? As I look at the features list that is published and examine my new icloud account... there seems to be no directory file structure and means to designate public and private directories. If icloud does not support this file sharing and idisk goes away in June 2012 I'll need to secure another file sharing service.  Is this correct?

Have you tried just copying the iTunes library from the old computer to the new? This may not work so move the original iTunes library before doing it. Quit iTunes, move the iTunes library file (in the iTunes folder) to the desktop. Copy the iTunes library file from the old computer into your iTunes folder and start iTunes. If all is okay, great.
If not, on the old computer, select each playlist manually and select export. Export the playlist (XML or text, it doesn't matter). Copy to your new computer and import them. This works fine with everything put smartlists. So far I've not found a way to copy them.

  • Extract sound from movie

    Hello.
    I have a question.
Is it possible that extract sound (.wav form) from movie file(.mov form)?
    Please give me a advice.
    Thanks.

Export the file from the PC as quicktime.
Either that or try MPEGStreamclip on the MPEG2 file to Demux the audio from the video.

  • I am trying to use the Home Sharing feature but none of my current library is showing up under my Share Library ?

I recently purchased a new lap top and thought the easiest way to move my library before wiping my old lap top would be the Home Sharing feature.   I have gotten everthing set up for Home Sharing but the library on my current laptop isn't showing under the shared library?  I am using the same account log in that I have always used and the Home Shared library isn't even seeing purchases under my account?  How do I get the Home Shared library to see all my music?

What operating systems are you running?

  • I tried copying a photo and pasting it in another event/group within iPhoto but the paste feature doesn't work.  This wasn't an issue with both Leopard and Snow Leopard.  Do you have any solutions or tips?

I bought a new MacBook Pro with OsX Lion as operating system.  I use iPhoto a lot and when I tried copying a photo then pasting it to another event/group, the 'paste' feature doesn't work.  This wasn't the case with Leopard and Snow Leopard where the 'paste' feature worked.  What I did was to paste the photo first to the desktop before transferring it to the new event/group.  I brought my Mac to the Apple store where I bought it and the technicians were themselves surprised that the 'paste' feature didn't work.  Chalked it up to glitches in the Lion os.  So how do we fix this?  I just find it absurd that a feature that used to work in Snow Leopard has been disabled in Lion, and the user still has to undergo an additional step to make it work, when new technology is supposed to make things easier for users.
Also, hasn't anyone noticed that it takes longer for the computer to boot upon opening?

Instead of copy and paste drag the photo to the new event. Or flag it and use the add flagged photos to selected event command
