Quicktime - sound but no piture

Dear All,
I wonder if somebody out there can help. I would like to view some programm which runs using the following linke

Quicktime starts automatically and it plays...with a sound, but no picture.
Can anybody enlighte me which plug-in is missing in order to view this ?

WMVA was the original implementation of WMV Advanced Profile prior to the acceptance of the VC-1 draft by SMPTE. The codec was distributed with Windows Media Player 10 and Windows Media Format SDK 9.5 install packages. There are slight bitstream differences between WMVA and WVC1, so consequently WMVA is handled by a different DirectShow decoder than WVC1. Some 3rd party hardware and software decoders only decode WMVA based content. As of 2006, WMVA is considered a deprecated codec because it is not fully VC-1 compliant. ---Wikipedia

Quicktime sound but no video

I have sound but no video with my newly updated quicktime 7. How do I troubleshoot this. I tried reloading the software.

QUICKTIME (Sound) but no video, just coloured lines Flashing about!!!!!

Hey,after downloading the new v7 i think it is, the quicktime video output has never worked on itunes or as an individual player outside itunes,its realy annoying as i cant watch any videos on itunes i have to use windows media player.On my screen when i open a video all i see is flashing coloured lines moving around.I can hear the sound though its just not showing the video.I have images of this behavour,if u can help ill send u then images in an email as i realy need this sorted!!!!!Thanks

• In TimeLine set In and Out-Points to the full Movie/Project
• Select ALL - Clips and Audio
• Go up to Sequence and down to Render Only - down to Mix Down Audio
• then Sequense and Render Selected - Both (Video and Audio)
• then Export and as QuickTime .mov (NOTHING ELSE)
• I use to do - Not Self-Contained as it saves both time and space
Your Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk - Needs lot's of free space to work OK - I never go under 25Gb free space on this one,

TS1894 After sync my iphone my videos have sound but no picture in quicktime.

My videos that I sync through iTunes have sound but a black screen when trying to watch through Quicktime.

I have the same cable and the component (same connectors but 5 of them vs. composite's 3 (where 2 being audio))
both my composite and component works with my tv with both my ipod touch 3g iphone4 and ipad2
composite really is the lowests quality format guess it's because of the resolution that it support that it does not support mirror
and the reason iphone4 does not support mirror is because it's video chip don't support converting what it display into H.264 in realtime same reason why only newer macs support airplay mirror too

Have sound but no picture on Quicktime

Quicktime is the media I use it to play the clips from my mobile phone (initally installed from the phone CD when I first got the phone), been using it for nearly a year then suddenly it plays the sound but I see no picture just greeny/bluey lines across it.
I have sent a few clips to a friend and she can see them fine on her computer (just incase the files had been corrupted), I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software which has been the up-to-date one from this site but I still get just the lines and no picture only sound.
Can anyone help as to how I can fix this. Thanks very much for any help.

Oh thank you very much QuickTimeKirk - your a star. I did what you said and it worked - I'm well chuffed cause I video loads on my camera (as they names suggests I have a couple of Boxer dogs) and now I can see what I've videod.

Sound, but no video when streaming a quicktime file through shockwave

When I stream a quicktime movie in the html file hosted on localhost using the Apache server, I get sound but no video. I saved the quicktime movie as part of my cast, linked to http://localhost/~username/mymovie.mov
When I play the quicktime movie itself in my browser, or in a projector, or just within director, the video and sound play simultaneously. But in the browser after converting the dir movie to a dcr and html file, and hosting the dcr and html files on the server, when I open the html file in my browser, only the sound plays. Anyone else encounter similar problems? Any help would be appreciated!

here's some quick notes on how I handle shockwave videos with my projects.
I tend to find that .swf format videos work best under all browsers using shockwave
easiest way:
you can do a standard import of a .swf video straight into a your cast. (not linked)
the problem with this is it tends to create a large dcr file for you users to download
'preloadnetthing' way:
upload your videos to a url location - something like www.mywebsite.com/the_programs_title/dsmedia/videos/video1.swf
(I never use capital letters or spaces)
file - import - internet - <enter the full url pathname to the file>
this will add the file to the add list
set media to : Link to External File (Don't use Standard Import)
now press Import
at this point Director will try to connect to your url - and do a trial download of the linked file
if it works you should now see a new linked video cast member added to your cast
if it fails - (which mine tend to do half the time?) - try it again until it works.
Here I normally view the linked videos property inspector - and change its settings - I turn loop off - and make sure preload is not set.
now comes the code part
To get your videos to play correctly, you will need to preload them into memory, before you play them.
(although it's possible to stream videos - I've never been able to get this to work well - there is a whole bunch of lingo code to deal with streaming videos)

Audio sounds great in Quicktime Player but horrible in Final Cut Pro

I'm working with a 16-bit wav file that sounds great in the quicktime player but once I bring it into Final Cut Pro 6 and play it back, it sounds like the quality has degraded quite a bit. I've tried setting audio playback quality to high in preferences, but this has not helped.

Open the wav file in Quicktime 7 and export it as a 48Khz AIFF file.
Import that file into FCP and see if that solves your problem.

Sound but no video in quicktime 7.2

When I'm on the web trying to view something in Quicktime, I get sound but no video. It was working fine and one day it stopped working. I did download a few plug-ins that may or may not have coincided with this problem. The plug-ins are: mp4vEncoder and Perian.

Did you repair permissions & restart after installing those 2 apps? If so, then try Flip4Mac and/or VLC Media Player.
Otherwise, please post the link/URL of the site(s) you are trying to use.

When playing QuickTime file, I get sound but no picture

Someone provided me with some Quicktime files. Regardless of what program I use to play them, (iMovie 6, QuickTime Player, MPEG Streamclip) I get the sound but there is no picture. I'm thinking that maybe there is a codec that I don't have. I really need to get these files to work with iMovie 6. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion, Kirk. They sent me a sample 10-second file in H.264 and it works. I think the picture quality is diminished--not too bad, though. Which codec would have the best quality and still work in iMovie6? Keep in mind I will be editing the video and then exporting it to iDVD. Thanks.

Premiere Elements 9 - importing MPEG files hear sound but no picture

Have just bought a new Dell XPS8300 i5-2320 3.3Ghz 12MB RAM 1.5TB computer and have Premiere Elements 9. Am trying to put video from my Olympus VR-310 camera into Premiere Elements. Have downloaded the MJPEG Codec. When I bring the video clips in, I can hear the sound but get no picture. It is either a blank black or blank turquoise screen. I've looked at suggestions on forums and have downloaded the latest Nvidia GeForce GT545 driver for the computer and have checked everything using GSpot. The video plays fine in Windows Mediaplayer, Quicktime and VideoLAN. Am now running out of things to try. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Unless the Oly version of the MJPEG CODEC is not compatible with PrE (that can happen, and not just with the MJPEG CODEC), you should not need to convert the footage to WMV. Still, that will depend on exact tweaking of the MJPEG CODEC by Oly.
As for VLC Player (and MediaPlayer Classic HC, and probably for others, like GOM Player, as well), those players contain their own set of CODEC's, though mostly for playback.
As mentioned in that CODEC article, linked above, there are basically 3 uses for a CODEC:
Used for playback - the vast majority of Video CODEC's
Used for encoding - still, a large sub-set of the Video CODEC's
Used for editing - a much smaller sub-set of the Video CODEC's, and usually limited by the exact NLE program
With the Oly MJPEG CODEC properly installed, I would test editing the footage natively, as I would anticipate that should work, with no WMV conversion, with produces heavily-compressed files, that require a lot of processing power to edit.

Do your videos play in QuickTime Playerwhen you reveal one of them in the Finder with "File > Reveal > Original"? Try to open the revealed movie in QuickTime and see if it plays.
Check the format of the movie. You can see it in the Inspector in QuickTime Player from the "WIndow" menu: Window > Show Inspector.
iPhoto does not support all movie formats and codecs that QuickTime player can play, and not all frame rates.

If the movie does not play in QuickTime Player either, install QuickTime 7 for more codecs.

Got sound but no video

Hi
I imported some footage from my HD Sony Camera with IMovie on my Macbook pro. Then finding the Movie files, copying them to a folder and then burned them to a DVD disk. I wanted to watch the movie files on my PC. I installed the latest Quicktime for Windows XP Pro it opens the file, has sound but no Video.
If I insert the DVD back in my Macbook Pro I can see the Movie files and they play just fine.
Can anyone help with this?

I am trying to play video files via Elements Organizer. In this case it is .MOV files. The new screen pops up but all I get is the sound and no video. I have downloaded the newest quicktime player but it did not help. Any ideas?
