QuickTime suddenly won't load trailers embedded in webpages via safari

Hi all,
Suddenly, QuickTime won't load trailers or movies embedded in webpages via safari. Can someone help?
Thanks,
Elissa

Vanessa, did you try the suggestions already mentioned in this thread?
Never post your email address in a public forum. Spam bots roam public forums looking for "spam victims".
If you insist on using your email address in a public forum & you want to "trick" the spam bots, then suggest that instead of using "@ "in the email address, use instead the actual word AT.
Regarding responding to your emal addy, we ask that you post all questions to the appropriate discussion forum. This allows other users and other helpers to have a chance to view and respond to your post. That way, everyone benefits from the exchange.
Thank you

  • HT4314 mac 10.8.2 and safari 6.0.2 and pogo suddenly won't load?

I was having trouble playing pogo minigolf, so I updated to Mac 10.8.2. I installed new java, etc. I played for about a month or two and all has been good. Now all of a sudden, pogo games won't load. It says I need Java...but that's not it. Any suggestions?

It is because Java has another gaping hole. It was blocked. I think they have a patch, now.

  • A favorite program suddenly won't load and I get the following message: Error reading crossword file. Check/daily-crossword/puzzles/2011-06/dc1-2011.bin is up

The program was loading ok until a power outage 2 days ago. Since restarting the pc the crossword puzzle won't load and I get the message provided.

I've had this problem since June 1 and no reply was received from Thinks when I wrote to them about it. In my case, it applies to the crossword puzzle and also to the codebreaker.

  • Favorite website suddenly won't load

Up until now, I've had no problems accessing one of my favorite sites. But just the other day, when I go there I get the message:
"Safari can’t open the page because the server where this page is located isn’t responding."
I've tried Safari, Opera, and Firefox, and the page just won't load. However, when I try it on my Mac at the office (a different computer in a different location) it loads just fine.
    Any ideas?

Apparently the way Snow Leopard deals with DNS queries has changed. In the Network settings in Systems Preference you can specify DNS hosts. If you have a home router, it also has a list of DNS entries (possibly set by your ISP). I can't find the Apple article about this, but it's discussed in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10134449
I think the problem is that Snow Leopard gives up finding an address too easily, and doesn't try all the DNS hosts you have listed.

  • Older Quicktime Files won't load into 80GB "Classic" iPod

I have several Quicktime files that are several years old and iTunes will not load them. The error message I get states "Files cannot be played on this iPod".
My Quicktime is up to date. Any Ideas?
    Thanks.

I have several Quicktime files that are several years old and iTunes will not load them.
I'm guessing you mean iTunes itself plays the files but will not load - or synch - them onto your iPod.
If that is the case try selecting/highlighting the troublesome videos in your iTunes Library and then going to the iTunes Advanced menu > Create iPod or iPhone Version and let us know if it brings you any combination of joy and/or satisfaction.

  • Suddenly won't load. did clean reinstall. shows in processes not in applications.

tried it in safe mode. removed it in safe mode. reinstalled it. even removed the folder as some help suggested. still it seems to load but nothing comes up. I can find it in processes but it never shows up in applications. was unsuccessful at a restore and then saw a 'xpcom' note. Don't understand. no updates or changes in config. just stopped working.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 26: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
if possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

  • Quicktime X Won't Load movies with AC3 track

Not sure if anyone else has seen this, it is more than likely that this is the case but maybe some people don't realise it.
Any movie file I have that has an ac3 track on it will not open in quicktime player x for me, but will work in quicktime player 7. When I use quicktime player 7 to completely remove the ac3 track (not just disabling it, that doesn't work), it will open fine in QT X. If I open a file that I ripped from DVD 6 months ago, quicktime x will open it fine as there is no AC3. A file I ripped yesterday won't open as it has AC3.
I tried to call the apple helpline but they were next to useless, considering the chap thought I wanted to put a password on quicktime when I talked about passthrough, and then directed me to download quicktime 7, like I hadn't used it to diagnose the issue!
Has anyone else encountered this issue, and more importantly does anyone know how to fix it, apart from using quicktime 7?

Another questions occurs to me: May I use Quicktime 7 for playing MPEG-2 videos with audio AC3 files? Or do I need Quicktime 7 Pro? And where do I get these applications -- if they will solve the problem? Do I have these applications on my Snow Leopard DVD? I checked my utilities folder and they are not in there. Will QT 7 and QT 7 Pro even work with Snow Leopard? I'm new to Mac and very confused, obviously.

  • QuickTime Pro won't load to Snow Leopard

I own QuickTime Pro. By virtue of owning Final Cut Studio.
But it doesn't work right on my newly Snow Leopard-ized 8 core tower.
I download QT 7 from the QTP page, but it won't install because:
"QuickTime can't be installed on this disk. This version of
QuickTime 7 can't be installed on this disk because
QuickTime X is already present. Please use Software
Update to install the appropriate version of QuickTime
    for your Mac."
    %$#@!!
The "QuickTime Player 7" menu item isn't the same as on other Macs. It doesn't show a "QuickTime Preferences" item, only a "Preferences" item, so many things can't be done with it.
Registration shows three blank lines but "Apple Pro Apps User" in small type at the bottom.
Even though it announces itself as QuickTime Player 7, it does most things that QuickTime Pro has always done, but I can't even update it with a fresh install, it seems.
I don't care at all for QuickTime X, but it seems intent on blocking my way.
    How to get around it?

That version fails to show the "QuickTime Preferences" item in the drop down menu that includes "Preferences," which was my reason behind trying to update it.
Yes, it was replaced by the single registration option which no longer accesses the system preferences window.
Its QTPro features seem to work, but I can't, for instance, select Kiosk mode through any of the current menu items... Am I stuck until Apple brings out a non-interim version? They've had a year...
Haven't tried using it lately, but the "Kiosk" option is still available as a QTL file option if you can use a QTL file for whatever you want to do.

  • Quicktime PRO won't load

I have the 64bit of iTunes with bonjour and all that. I also got this Quicktime PRO 7.6.9 It was updated today.
Look at the pic below helppp.
my computer info is in my profile.

  • Quicktime suddenly won't export to .FLV

I've been using QTPro to export .mov files to .flv for my website, but suddenly when I go to export a .mov, the .flv option is gone. I tried reinstalling QT, then repaired permissions, but still the .flv option is missing from the File>Export menu.
Is it possible to download the .flv component somewhere, or is there a way to fix whatever might have become corrupted? The only thing that could be the culprit is if there was a QT software update in the last 2 weeks or so... otherwise nothing on my system has changed.
    Kirby

YOu know what, it must be a corrupted Flash component then... although a web-programmer friend just told me something really interesting: because Flash can read mp4 files, I actually don't need to convert the .mov to .flv for my website to be able to read it: I can just convert the .mov to .mp4 and upload that, and it'll work the same way! Who knew? Brilliant workaround!
    Marked as solved!

  • Captivate 6 suddenly won't load

I get a window with an exclamation point. I've uninstalled & reinstalled, same problem, although the program appears to be sitting there in the apps folder on my mac. Ideas?

If you by some chance just happened to update your MAC OS to Mavericks, then that would be the reason.  You need to download and install the update for Captivate that allows it to work with Mavericks.

  • Safari Suddenly Won't Load

Booting up this morning, Safari never appeared. Spinning beach ball. Force Quit (Safari Not Responding).
It was working fine last night when I put the Mac to Sleep. Woke it up, rebooted - no Safari. It's 10.5.6 and no previous problems other than the usual crashing, disappearing, locking up around Java, etc. This is the first time it just ain't there.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Try using Onyx using the settings shown on this page:
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/onyx_leopard.html
Onyx will clear out some system level caches and these appear to be the problem in your case.

  • Welcome page won't load on some computers, sometimes crashes safari

I published my website on dotmac using iWeb and let my friends and
family know about it. I used the "Black" template.
About 20% of them could not get the web pages to work. That includes
my daughter who has a powerbook G4 with the same leopard operating
system as me and is using Safari.
The problem she (and others) are having is that the first page tries
to load. In the information bar at the bottom of the window, it
indicates that there are several errors (as many as 5). When this
happens, much of the text does not load. None of the links load.
Whats worse is that her Safari browser will frequently crash trying to
    open the page.
I used firefox's firebug extension and noticed that there are uncaught
    exceptions.

    Hi Jeff,
I am no expert at this but I too had the same problem and I crashed a few IE. The problem with my page was that I had two images at about 900mb each and when I reformatted the images before inserting them in iweb it solved the problem.
You can publish to a folder then inspected every file that iweb generates upon publishing that might give you an indication of where the problem lies.
    Good luck
    Mireille

  • Game won't load with new quicktime?!

After downloading the latest version of quicktime a game i've played with no problems for a couple of years (civilization III) suddenly won't load on my iBook (G4, os10.4 i think). Any suggestions? Can i uninstall without affecting other things? Or install an older version? Thus far it seems my only option is to buy the next version which seems a bit unfair given the other one was working just fine. Perhaps apple should be made to instigate a part-exchange to upgrade!!!

Before doing anything drastic as an Archive & Install to move to a lower QT version, I suggest that you update your OS system first. According to your system info, you are using the basic Tiger version which is outdated.
You should update your OS all the way up to the last Tiger version, use Software Update to install all the available updates that goes along w/your computer & the OS.
Repair permissions & restart your computer.
