Quicktime to .AVI for "Digital Photo Frames?"

Hello,
I am trying to re-encode a quicktime movie to run on a Philips Digital Photoframe Model SPF5010. Confusingly it states in the manual that the frame will play .mov files in M-JPEG, MPEG-1, MPEG-4 or H.263.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to use compressor to solve this problem. Compressor does not do .AVI correct?

Hi,
Compressor can convert your files into formats like MPEG 1 or 4. Look into the *Settings tab > Apple > Formats*.
.mov indicates the type of codec wrapper, Quicktime that is. AVI is the codec wrapper for Windowz.
Compressor can create AVI's.

Hope this helps,

  • Photos from computer to empty card for digital photo frame?

I've downloaded 1,000 photos from my camera to the computer and want to empty the card and use it afresh. Is it possible to then load a selection of photos from iPhoto 6 onto an empty card so that I can play a short selection in a digital photo frame? and please how do I do it?
    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

If you want to clear a card simply use your camera to Reformat the card. It takes a couple of seconds to do it. For specific details on doing it on your camera see your manual, or root around in the menus
To put pics on a Card for a digital frame:
Select the pics in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export them to a Folder on the desktop. Then drag that folder of images to the Card.
Most cameras will mount their cards on the Desktop. However some brands (not mentioning Canon and Kodak in particular, just in passing) don't. The only way around this is to pop the card in a USB Card Reader, and it will turn up on the desktop.

  • WinXP: Resize pic for digital photo frame with PS Elements

    PS Elements 5
Preloading a small memory card for a photo frame to be given for holiday gift. Not familiar with these frames.
This Digital Photo Frame is a 16x9 aspect, 800x480 pixels.
In PS Elements, I crop each pic to 16" x 9"
Then resize photo to 800 pixel width, constraining proportions it sets the height at 450 pixels, resolution 72 pixels/in. Seems I am wasting the frame real estate.
Change the crop tool for 15" x 9"
Then resize photo to 800 pixel width, constraining proportions it sets the height at 480 pixels, resolution 72 pixels/in.
Each photo comes to ~ 400k.
    Questions:
Which above crop/resize/resolution is best? or alternate?
Will the frame make use of the 400k pics, or should I reduce quality to something less?

  • Randomize piccies for digital photo frame

i have about 300 jpegs that I have stuck on a flash card for my digital phone frame.
any idea how I can randomize the pictures as this isn't a function of the photo frame itself.
Is there a way to randomize the picture date in iphoto? I assume this is how the pictures are ordered......
    or possibly the file name?

    Steve

    Steve:
I've run into that and there's no easy way to achieve that. One might try editing each file and and just add a couple of random characters in each. That would change the order from the structured, similar named order.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Digital photo frame question

There is no specific thread for digital photo frames that I could see, so I'm posting here and if you want to move it, tha'ts fine...
I didn't buy this product at Best Buy, I bought it on Amazon and in retrospect I should have bought it at Best Buy. But you guys sell the same product and I have gotten some awesome help here before on other items, so I thought it might be worth asking you.
I bought a HP df1010p1 Digital Picture Frame, and after 4 months I am just getting a blank white screen on it. I've tried everything I can think of (I am tech savvy) and I can't get it to work. HP is totally giving me the run around on this even though it says in the book it has a year warranty.
I loved this frame and am wondering if it's even fixable, I would appreciate any input. It was pretty spendy and I hate to have to buy another one. It won't be an HP though, that's for sure. I was thinking of taking it apart and seeing if there was anything I could fix inside.
I have tried: different plugins, different media cards, making sure the cards work on my computer, obvuously turning it off and on a bunch of times, blowing the card slot out with air...
Any advice would be appreciated! and thanks in advance.
    JD

    Hello tweetybird53,
Thanks very much for purchasing the HP Digital Photo Frame.  I regret that you are having some product and support challenges.  Please email me with your HP case number or your product number, serial number and contact information so that we can get your issue resolved quickly.
The answer to the question, "Is there an HP service depot near where you live that you can take it there?" is no.  Currently, customers can not drop off products at an HP service center.  There is a process to follow that entails mailing in the product if it is coded for repair.  In some cases, the defective product is simply replaced.
I look forward to assisting tweetybird53.

  • Best Resoltion for the 7" Digital Photo Frame

    Hello,
    I have got a
    *Digital Photo Frame II, 7"W, 720 x 480, Sensor Touch, MP3 Player-Funktion PA3637K-1ETC*
The Manual doesn't tell me about the best Resolution for the Pictures to put on.
    on the Web you can Find: 800 x 480 Pixel WVGA-Screen (720 x 480 Pixel sichtbarer Bereich)
The samples are 726x 480 pixel.
    Now my Problem:
When you put Pictures on it - *It cropps a bit on the right and left side and much more on the top and bottom.*
I have tried a lot of sizes. Even on 720 x 480 it cropps.
So my question is : What is the best Resolution for the PICs ?
    Best Regards
    Markus

    Sorry,
    check your calculator: 800:533 is NOT 1.562... Mine Says : 800:533 = 1.5009380863039399624765478424015
That is less wrong than it cut's off.
Try it: take a white pic with 800x533 and draw a black frame of 10 pixels on the border. you won't see it on all sides !
That makes 20 pixels (10 on each side) of 533 cut off ... that is more than 0.0009380863039399624765478424015 error.

  • I am trying to copy songs to an sd card for a digital photo frame. I changed my setting in iTunes to mp3 format before I downloaded the song but it didn't work. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? I would be very grateful!

I am trying to copy songs to an sd card for a digital photo frame. I changed my settings in iTunes to mp3 format before I downloaded them but it did not work. What am I doing wrong? When I play the sd card in my mac or on a lenovo laptop it works but not in the photo frame. I would be grateful for any ideas as to what I am doing wrong.

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.

  • Export iPhoto slide show to Sony DPF-D70 digital photo frame?

Can I export an iPhoto 08 slideshow to the memory of a Sony DPF-D70 7" digital photo frame? If so, how is it done?
I would forever be grateful for any assistance.

The only thing you can do is export the slideshow as a Quicktime movie. You can do this in the File -> Export dialogue. Can this device play a Quicktime movie?

  • Swf within digital photo frame

hi there, i hope anyone can help me with the following
    question.
i am creating digitial pictures with actionscript to display
them as swf. i am looking for a digital photo frame that is able to
display .swf files but cannot find any, only frames that can
display .avi, mpeg etc (and exporting as .avi does not help as it
will only show a blank movie because of the actionscript).
does anyone know about any product that can per default
display swf? any hint would be highly appreciated!!
    thanks,
    steffen

Did you find a Digital Photo Frame that will play swf's yet?
I am looking for one, too.
I would also like to see it support video in an swf.

  • Digital Photo Frame df1010v2 - how to download photos in the order they appear on USB?

Photos installed nicely into my df1010v2 digital photo frame, but not in the order I wanted them. I had painstakingly named all of them by date, and they appeared chronologically on the USB drive I copied them from, but they downloaded in random bunches.<br><br>Does anyone know why this happened and whether there is a fix? Pictures are for my 90-year-old mother, and the weird order will confuse her. I do not have frame set to view in random sequence, but that's how they will appear to her<br><br>P.S. Many of the photos are scans of old photos, so setting them to appear by date taken will not work here.<br><br>Thank you for any help!

    Hi,
If you are happy with PSE 6, why not continue to use it?
PSE 13 can display the images in date/time order like PSE 6 does. The time doesn't appear when you hover over a thumbnail but can be displayed below the thumbnail. The best thing is for you to download the trial version (select version 13 from the following link) and try it for 30 days to see if you like it.
    Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10
If you use the trial, to see the date and time under each thumbnail you need to go to the View menu in the organizer and ensure that Details is checked.

  • Compatible Digital Photo Frame?

I'm trying to find a digital photo frame which is reliably compatible with Mac files (i.e. iPhoto), for both photos and video. I didn't think it would be such a big deal but now that I've started researching it, I'm finding all sorts of complaints about incompatibility, especially with, for example, .mov files.
The product I'm seeking is intended to be a gift for my elderly grandmother (90 years old) so it has to be simple to use (in other words, I'm not going to get her an iPod touch-- just a simple frame, on which I can pre-load photos and videos, would be ideal.)
    Any ideas?
Thank you so much in advance, and forgive me if this question should be posted elsewhere.

Old Toad (love the name!)-- Thank you for the response, and the tip on converting the video files. I think I will try that out, and maybe take a card or thumb drive into Best Buy or Fry's and see if I can test it.
Can anyone confirm success with putting short videos (created on an Apple device, such as an iPhone) on a digital photo frame? I spent hours Googling yesterday and could find no actual testimonials of such...
Seems like a pretty basic thing that people would like to be able to do these days, with all the file/video sharing. I know most people just physically hand over a phone or other device and say, "here, look," but I'm sure I'm not the only one with elderly grandparents who never got much beyond using an electric typewriter, and when you can't be physically there to show them something on your own device or computer, there needs to be a simpler solution. I'm looking at frames because those seem to be the least intimidating for an elderly person, as they don't "feel" as much like space-age electronics.
If anyone has any other options other than a digital frame (I was even considering a small, portable DVD player that would play photos & vids burned to a disc, but that's getting sort of ridiculous), I'm open to suggestions.
    Thanks so much.

  • Digital Photo Frames

OK, how do I get photo's from iPhoto back onto my SD card in my camera?
I've tried to drag and drop an image from the library into the camera source folder but that doesn't work.
I've unmounted my camera while its still on hoping that I can find my camera in the finder but I can't see it.
You see I'd like to use my SD card in a digital photo frame but I can't seem to get the photo's I want, contained in iPhoto, back onto the card.
Can this be done or am I being really stupid?!
Any help would be very much appreciated. Cheers.

    Neil:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That camera do you have? Does it mount on the desktop as removable media? I found with the Canon cameras I have, they don't mount, I needed to use a card reader and make sure I had the same image name type that the camera used, i.e. IMG_xxxx, and put it in a correctly named folder. This was just so I could view it on the camera. Don't know if it would work in a photo frame on TV. Haven't tried it yet.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar

  • Does anyone own a  PhotoVu  digital photo frame?

Sorry if this is not the appropriate discussion group for this topic, but I would really like to get in contact with someone who owns and uses a PhotoVu digital photo frame.
I'd like to know how Mac friendly it is, as well as some how-to's in regard to its operation.
    My email is ***** <edited by host>
    Thank you

Thank you for you reply Larry.
Sorry, didn't know about the email rule.
I have been emailing with a PhotoVu rep, but he generally directs me to
    faqs on the product website.
I was hoping to contact someone who actually has and uses the PhotoVu frame, and their experience with it.
For the same price I could plant an LCD monitor on the wall connected to a
Mac mini - but instead of a mac mini would the lcd monitor(as a photo frame) idea work for showing iPhoto09 slideshow and iMovie clips that were saved to a multimedia hard drive ( instead of the mac mini)? Does the multimedia hard drive ( like LaCie's or LG's have to have some mac compatible software on it to access my files from the hard drive menu?

  • Mac compatible digital photo frames?

    Hi
I am looking for a digital photo frame that is compatible with my Macbook. Does anyone know if they exist?
    Please help.
    Craig

I just found & purchased a Philips one on Amazon. I got the 6.5" version. The link below is for the 8" version. It got high marks from reviews and many mentioned that it was easy to use with a Mac. Plug and play. They hooked them up with the USB cable to their mac and copied over the files and it's done.
