Quicktime to clips

I'm using FCPro. I was given several long Quicktime files that have to be cut up into clips and sorted out. I imported them into my project and started to mark them and drag them back into the bin area. It works great but I'm having trouble re-naming the clips. It changes the main Quicktime name. Can I re-name the clip without it changing the other name? If so How?
Thanks

Make Subclips instead (press command & U keys). You can call them Susan if you want.

  • Unable to Sync Quicktime Movie Clips with IPOD

I am a new ipod user having difficulty syncing Quicktime movie clips to IPOD.
Clips are saved as .mov files and Itunes will play.
However I cannot get them to sync woth IPOD.
Any ideas - Do I need to convert to annother format?

First you need to import your movies into iTunes. Do this by opening iTunes <File> <Import> <Movies> then choose the movie you want to put on your iPod. Make sure the movie has .mov at the end otherwise it won't be set up the way it's supposed to be.
Once the movie is imported into iTunes right click on it so a pull down menu appears. Click on <Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone>. It should begin converting it on its own and when it's done you'll hear the typical sound that happens after importing a cd, telling you the operation is complete.
After it's converted, you will have 2 identical movies in your menu. If you <Get Info> on each, you should be able to see which is newest version; that is the movie you are going to want to sync.
Then plug your iPod in to iTunes, go to the movie tab in iPod summary and check off the converted movies you want to sync to your iPod. Press <Sync> and that should add your movies to your iPod.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I get a quicktime video clips to go into my itunes?

Hi I have the latest version of itunes and quicktime ( Version 7.1.3) but I can't get itunes to play my quicktime video clips. I've tried dragging and importing them in but nothing happens. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi thanks for the help. But I was hoping that I wouldn't have to download or have to convert video files. I have a quicktime video in my itunes now but it was a while back when I added that I can't remember how too. Is there a easy way to do it or will I need to convert the Avi.files to something else? Thanks again for the help!

  • Error -2002 when importing quicktime movie clips into iMovie Project

When I import QuickTime movie clips into my project, the scroll bar fills about 1/3 of the way, and then I get this message:
Can't open file "DSCN0812.MOV"; skipping it and continuing. I CLICK "OK," and then this message appears:
    Error during import
The file could not be imported: (-2002)
This happens to every movie clip. Anyone have any idea what's happening here?
    Thanks!

I guess, you try to import 'moving images' from a still cam, right? these are in a codec (=mov is no format, just a container) , iM doesn't support. Use the free tool *Mpeg Streamclip* www.squared5.com to convert these files to 'dv stream' BEFORE importing to iMovie.

  • Quicktime video clips look red

When I import Quicktime video clips into iMovie (for Mac - latest version) they come in looking bright red.  Why is this?  Can anyone help me.   -Thanks

Not sure what you are asking?
To make as still frame from video?
Or to strobe the video (play at less fps)?
Both I believe can't be done in iMovie iOS

  • Burning a shuffled playlist of Quicktime video clips

I have a folder with 308 Quicktime video clips in it.
I wondered if there was an easy way to burn to DVDs a shuffled playlist of video clips.
I have Toast but that only caters for shuffling photos or music.
I don't have the space to load them all into itunes.
Is there a way of shuffling the files names with the finder to then add to Toast or something like that?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • QuickTime movie clips won't play in video player

I have movie clips generated by my camera that are in Quicktime format that are in iTunes and iPhoto (playing in both) but will not sync to the iPad because they are in an "unsupported format"
I have a few other QT clips that did sync to the iPad from iTunes, but not all of them will transfer.
    What is the problem?

Just because the videos from your camera are Quicktime, doesn't mean they will play on the ipad. Open the videos with Quicktime on your computer and get info, COMMAND+i. Here are the video specs for the iPad:
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format. http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

  • Imported Quicktime movie clip has no audio

I am putting together a wedding video. We have a Sony HD-12 camcorder. I used FCE4 to Log and Transfer the individual video clips. These are fine. The bride and groom gave me two additional video clips recorded by someone else they want inserted in the sequencing. These two video files are already in Quicktime format. I imported them into the FCE4 browser. When I click on them the video plays but there is no audio. How do I get the audio so that I can move it down to the sequence bar? Thank you for your help.

When I click on them the video plays but there is no audio
Chances are that the two files are muxed. Try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the files into a format that FCE works with natively.
NOTE: You may also need Apple's QuickTime MPEG-2 Component for MPEG Streamclip to be able to convert the files if they are MPEG-2 based.

  • Quicktime video clips for website

I would like to upload clips of a recent tv appearance on my website. The producer will give me the footage as a quicktime file, but he needs to know the following specs first: resolution, pixel h x w, and frame rate. (I'm not sure the producer himself knows what info he needs). Basically, each clip will be about three minutes long, and I'd like the best possible quality for the web, in a normal, youtube sized window. My webmaster doesn't know quicktime. Can anyone tell me what to tell the producer?

All you need to know is how big a file the're willing to allow to be downloaded.
There is sometimes a misconseption about streaming verses downloading a video. Streaming video requires a dedicated sever, (for the type of streaming you are going to be doing.)
If you are not going to stream, but rather download the video content, (known as progressive download) then the file can sit on the http server as a downloadable file, with a link to it, by embeding the files information in the web page, using the proper html code, from the vendor to the media content you are going to use.
We use Quicktime here and do true streaming, using a Xserver and stream via RTSP proticol. The web server then has a reference movie embed in the web page that directs the enduser to the streaming servers address, which is then sent to the web page with the embed information for QT and the end view can watch the movie, without every downloading any of the content to there local drive. This protects the content from being downloaded by the end user and alos gives random access to any part of the media, at will, (no waiting for all of the file to download, like progressive does.)
If you choose to do, (what most sites do, progressive download) then you only need the http web server and a large hardrive or RAID storage for the media content. These file are then downloaded when the end user clicks on the link provided in the web page, and you will see a progression bar below the movie as the file downloads. A dedicated streaming server is not used in this case, just the http server as a download server.
Most web movies are currently running a window at 320x240 or in my case, (using the QT codec, H.264) 480x360 for SD video. We stream at the following streaming sizes, 128k, 512k & 1024k, using the above window size for all.
Our software that we encode with is Episode Pro, (our primary encoder) or Cleaner 6.5, (this is a second choice, (due to lack of support by Auto Desk who owns Cleaner.) We also encode with Sorenson 4.5, but not offten.
    Hope this helps?

  • Making a Quicktime movie clip from non-commercial DVD

I want to capture a five minute clip of video from a non-commercial (i.e. homemade) DVD and save as a Quicktime movie. How do I go about this?

You will need QuickTime Pro and the Viewer, both available for purchase from the Apple Store. One word of caution, when I try to pull video from my home-made DVDs, QT only play the first 2 to 6 seconds of the video that may be almost an hour long. I am trying to find a solution, but before I would recommend that you spend the $50 to purchase Pro and Viewer, I would wait until there is some resolution to this problem.

  • How to break down single file imported from quicktime into clips?

Can anyone help? I am trying to import video footage from a sony handycam, and have managed to import using USB via DvDxDV and then quicktime. However, it imports the movie as one big clip, is there anyway to instruct iMovie to break the clips down? Thanks

is there anyway to instruct iMovie to break the clips down?
You have to do that manually by Command-T or by "Split Clip at Playhead" -menu command.
