Quicktime to flash conversions

I am doing some testing for an upcoming project which requires Quicktime to Flash conversion and I noticed that when you save your settings in the Adobe media encoder interface (save as) and go into it again to check, the settings go back to the default. Does this mean they have not been saved? The inspector doesn't give much information ether.
Thanks

  • Quicktime to Flash Conversion- No sound

I have some videos that I edited in Sony Vegas that have been exported as QT movies. I just upgraded to QT Pro so I can convert to flash for a client who want to put the video's on their web site. I convert to FLC and the video works but there is no sound. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Try using MPEG Streamclip.

  • Quicktime to Flash Conversion? how can I do this?

I need to convert .mov to .flv how can I do this? I am using
    a intel based MAC
    Thanks

    there are several tools.
Adobe Flash CS3 will do it for you.
If you don't have Flash CS3 or another professional
application like Sorenson Squeeze consider a shareware application
like VisualHub (just do a Google search for VisualHub and you will
find it). VisualHub is shareware and therefore cheap (about $22
    USD).
There are most likely freeware apps that will convert the
file(s) for you as well. Google is your friend. There is an
    open-sourced command-line tool as well called ffmpeg (i think);
Google that and if you are comfortable at the command line you
should be able to install and use that and it would be free.
    Best of luck

  • Conversion of Video on DVD to Quicktime or Flash?

I need to convert a video on a DVD and to a Flash video or Quicktime video for use on a web site. The DVD file is a NTSC, 4:3 aspect ratio, size 720x480. Will the Flash program or Quick Time Pro do this conversion for me or do I need a different software program? If I need new software, any suggestions on some shareware?
The client said he wanted it changed to Flash because does a great compression. However, would changing it to a Quicktime movie be more universal for people to view without having to download a plug-in?
    Thanks in advance,
    Julie

would changing it to a Quicktime movie be more universal for people to view without having to download a plug-in?
Not sure about the "universality" of QT but believe it is generally found as a "freebie" on most PCs and, of course, on all Macs sold today. Don't use Windows Media since a good player with codec runs about $50 for my Mac but admit to keeping the "Flash" plug-ins installed for all of my browsers. Would have to abide by what David said as my one and only venture into flash conversions produced "less than adequate" quality as far as I was concerned.
As filmtex indicated above, Handbrake would be a suitable solution if you plan to convert the entire DVD (or chapters thereof) without edits directly to either MPEG-4 or H.264 files. Of the two, the MPEG-4 output would likely be more universal for QT since it would not require QT 7 be installed. On the other hand, the H.264 would provide files roughly one third the size of an MPEG-4 file at the same level of quality.
However, if you are planning to edit the material to any degree (i.e., extract highlights, break it into smaller files, enhance audio/video content, etc.), then you might prefer an alternate work flow. For instance, MPEG StreamClip (free) would allow you to load unencrypted or decrypted individual VOBs (or the the entire title) into the application and peform minor edits before ouputting material to any available QT format. Or, if you plan to make major edits in iMovie, FCX, FCP, or other such editor, you can convert the VOBs directly to the appropriate DV format for your particular editor.

  • Must a QuickTime or Flash Movie act as a MIAW?

I'm hoping to import a quicktime or flash movie with an alpha channel, in hopes that the stage image will not be obscured.  This is assuming that a movie can play in on the stage without being framed as a MIAW.  Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    -david

You're not going to get an alpha channel in a QuickTime movie, and if you turn off DTS and try to apply an ink, you'll again be dissatisfied. I'm less sure about Flash movies, but suspect it will depend on how they're imported/played. You certainly have a better chance with Flash.
I am unsure where your MIAW reference has any relevance, but assuming this is what you're asking: yes - a video can play on the stage, it doesn't have to be played in a MIAW.

  • STILL no real answer to problems with QuickTime and Flash Player

The reply to Problems with QuickTime really didn't answer or solve the basic problem. Some sites to work at all require you to have working Flash Player 8 so when I try to use these sites I get the QuickTime logo with a question mark and then nothing. For all you experts on Apple and Mac; what is going on? Apple is the parent of QuickTime and I assume they want their customers happy with their work. So why is it so hard for these apparently small updates to their programs causing entire sites being blocked off? I have OS x 10.3.9 on a G4 iMac 855mHrz .... It seems that even though we, the customer by default become Apples program testers;the actual programers are never given the go ahead to actualy look at these problem posts. Has anyone ever gotten a solution for a problem they posted here from one of the programmers of the product? It would be nice to know we aren't left to our own devices when it comes to program gliches from the source. If the powers that be in apple are watching and willing to help; any time now is a good time to just but in on the conversation and help solve some of the problems us little people keep on running into.--------------
While online I run into sites that will NOT work without Flash Player 8 (which costs over $150.00) which is told to the viewer with a QuickTime logo with a question mark in it.
This leads the web surfer to try to upgrade or at least investigate Flash Player in their computer and it's version. When said web surfer looks at Flash player upgrade for bucks and the fact that in some way it is tied to QuickTime, web surfer gets real curious. Do the web masters for those sites know that their site is now blocked off? If any major portion ( say 30 or 40 % ) of the web surfing crowd is required to purchase an upgrade to Flash Player even though it doesn't look like Apple is the parent of said Flash Player; those web masters are going to be upset with Apple. Their income is tied to actuall access and browsing of a site, even if it is only to actually just get the Home page. With no access to the site due to no Flash Player 8, the web master is going to find those all important Hits going down to nil. -------
This post is way to broad for any one answer so I don't really expect one. But for you people who have run into similar problems with other programs and sites; I would love to hear if you got any help from other web surfers or from the parent people of those programs and/or sites. I know that my isp earthlink has helped out with problems faster than other groups involved. Anyway.. Any help or comment on this post ( or gripe if you prefer ) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry, but you are completely misinformed. Flash Player 8 doesn't cost one red cent; it's only the Flash creation package that you have to pay for. You can download the free Flash Player 8 here.
QuickTime can natively handle some Flash content, which is why with the lack of the Flash player the browser defaults to the QT plugin. But Flash 8 is a relatively new format from Macromedia and I'm not sure QT supports it yet. Install the Flash 8 player and things should work just fine.
And just FYI, for questions about the Mac version of QuickTime, you'll be better off asking them in the QuickTime for Mac forum.

  • Text distortion when converting from QuickTime to Flash

I am converting a QuickTime video to Flash format. Both have
    the same pixel dimentions - 200 x 150 - so I don't need to resize.
I am using the default "flash 8 - high quality" settings.
However, there is some large text on the opening screen of
the video that looks fine before conversion, but is distorted after
conversion. Any ideas how to fix?
Edited to add that I am using the Flash 8 Video
    Encoder.

    +*Resize Filter: Nearest Pixel*+
    +*Deinterlace Filter: Fast (Line Averaging)*+
Try changing these settings to better. The best setting will definitely look better than the fast settings. If your very picky about how your video looks and have the time to kill try best.
Since your using multi-pass for the h.264 frame control, frame control will be read/used for each pass, adding (a lot) to the time of the encoding. One work around is to use Pro res to encode the video using frame control and then link (target) that encoding to the h.264 setting with frame control off.
Here's an excellent tutorial on using the link (target) function in Compressor:
    http://pixelcorps.cachefly.net/macbreak-154-540p-h264.mov
One thing you need to set for the h.264 encoding that isn't mention in the above tutorial. In the Inspector/Geometry window for the h.264 encoding you need to set the video dimensions. You'll notice it is set to Automatic with no video dimensions. For some reason you'll get an error if the video dimensions aren't set.

  • Flash conversion

hi guys, can anyone suggest a good conversion program for converting my video files from FCP formats so I can upload to web as flash, and they will play on most PCs. Am I correct that .flv is just flash, and .swf is streaming only flash specifically for web streaming as a flash file and that is the desired format for most PCs equipped with a flash player?
    Don
    macbook pro intel   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2gig ram, 2GHZ, MBP15", FW400, 2 USB ports, ExpressCard/34

This is silly. Apple really should be providing a
    direct solution.
I dunno about that. These days my Sorenson Squeeze is a lot faster and a lot more reliable than Compressor.
My workflow for making FLVs from FCP footage:
    1) Use Compressor to make a QuickTime movie that is the correct frame size and frame rate you eventually want in the FLV. Deinterlace and make progressive here. Use the Apple Animation codec for video, and pass-through the 48K 16-bit audio.
    2) Use Sorenson Squeeze for FLV to make the FLV movie for Flash. Conform the frame rate and frame size to the above QT movie. Use one of the audio codecs in Squeeze.
    3) Import the FLV into Flash, or setup a link to an external FLV inside a Flash movie. Decide if you want to download or stream the video in Flash by setting the parameters for the Media Player component you are using. Publish the SWF and then upload that (and the FLV and skins if using a linked file) to your web server.
    4) Enjoy the kudos of friends and clients who compliment you on the excellent quality of your web video

  • Media Encoder CS4 problem with h.264 QuickTime- Green flashes

I have been using Premiere/Media Encoder CS4 on both a Mac and PC. I am having problems encoding using h.264 HD (720p) settings. These are the problems I have had:
When I encode on both platforms (using many different settings) the video plays back fine on the latest version of QuickTime on the Mac.
On the PC using the latest version of QuickTime the exact same video stutters and flashes green.
When I downgrade my version of QT on my PC to 7.4.5 the video plays fine.
With the downgraded version of QT and then encode the video again using the same settings. The video has the same mentioned problem on ANY PC with the latest version of QT.
I would like to say that this is just a QT problem but when I encode the videos using someone elses computer with other software (Sorenson Squeeze) using the exact same settings the video works fine on all platforms.
I need to distribute these videos online so I have no control over what version of QT people will be using to view the video so it is not enough just to say use the older version of QT.
    Thanks in advance for help.

There have been several instances, such as you describe, on the forum lately. Do not recall any exact resolutions though. I'd seach for "green flashes," as that exact phrase has been used in many.
On the PC using the latest version of QuickTime the exact same video stutters and flashes green.
Is this with QT 7.6.2? Many had major issues with the QT 7.4.x versions and Adobe software. The QT 7.5.5 version seemed to fix most of those, but another user was having issues with it very recently, and there have been some, who have also had issues.
It seems that QT will work with Adobe products for a bit, and then the next upgrade, or two, will fritz up the whole works.
Wish this was not such a "moving target."
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Can I use QuickTime in Flash application?

    Hi.
I'm planning to develop a media player in Flash, and I would
like to know if it is possible to do the things I wanna do. Can I
use the QuickTime player in my Flash application to play video and
music files? If I can, can I use the original controls from
QuickTime to play, pause, stop, fast forward and rewind the
video/music? (Why I ask is because I want to be able to hear the
sound go fast forward and rewind when I press these controls, and
the only player I know that does that is QT.) I also wanna be able
to show the video and music files the user has on the computer with
icons (or pictures). Is it possible to search video and music files
in a computer (in specific folders)? Or do I have to know from the
start, when I develop the application, which files exist?
I'm really grateful for answers on my questions!

No you can't. You can't have player within a player.

You can open a folder and look for file but you can't search
    user drive and get list
of it. Only File - Open - Browse, that type of dialog.

  • Exported QT presentation- flash conversion question

In the exported QT movies, the quality is great and the slides stop at the correct spot. However, I would like to convert this to a swf with the resulting swf file still stopping at the correct spot (rather than just playing through). Please note the direct Flash export is too low in quality and doesn't pause either.
Is there a way of doing this simply, or is there a piece of s/w that'll do this without having to figure out Flash cs3 and actionscript?
Any pointers gratefully received... this has been very frustrating.

The videos that I export have a weird glitch in both High and Low bandwidth attempts and at the same spots in the video. What happens is the video jumps backward a frame or two and the audio is all off from there on
Have you looked at those spots in the original project timeline to verify that there is nothing strange going on at the trouble spots? Is there anything "different" about either your audio or video files in those spots?
eg. are all the audio files in your project 48Khz?
If you export a simple QT movie with no compression or conversions do you get the same problem? If not, then try using that export as your "master" and convert/compress it to what you need.
