QuickTime to .swf

When you convert QuickTime to .swf, is quality lost?

You could re-"publish" if you have the .fla files used in the logo and have Flash software.
You could use screen capture software like Snapz Pro to "record" it as it plays on your display.
You could make a new version (require Flash software) and publish as version 5.
But a new "gotcha" is waiting in the works. Default installs of QuickTime now turn off any Flash Media inside any QuickTime container. To turn them back on your must "Enable Flash" in the Advanced tab of the QuickTime System Preferences.

QuickTime Pro 7.1.6, Flash Player 9UB
New problem. Everything copacetic until in middle of class, *.swf file embedded in Keynote presentation had no sound. Visual ok, but no sound when playing *.swf files. Even if just open *.swf file in QT, visual ok, sound missing. Same files will play fine in other applications, but not in QT. Everything works on non-Intel computers.
Must have sound as use flash files extensively (embedded in Keynote presentations) for classroom. Please help. Monday morning is coming up quick time.
BTW have installed Perian 1.0 to no avail.

Problem solved in wee hours last night. Had accidentally deleted <com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist>. Hadn't discovered effect until middle of class, because hadn't rebooted until then.
BTW, only time I use *.swf files is in Keynote. If the "Open with:" section of the Get Info panels is set to have all the flash files open in QT and then, in System Preferences/QT/Advanced, the "Enable Flash" property is checked everything works (now) fine.
Thanks, folks. I'm set for Monday!

  • SWF export problem. Please help!

Hi, I know there's quite a few discussions about this but I can't seem to find my answer. I'm trying to export a 5-scene animation I have made. It won't work as any file, swf, quicktime mov etc or when I try to publish it. It keeps getting to the end of the loading strip and then just cuts out and no file is saved.
I'm pretty sure the problem is because my library files are all over the place. I imported images and sounds from external hard drives and then didn't put them on my computer. This is what I don't understand, where do the files need to be for Flash to be able to read and export them. And how do I go about  fixing this problem?
Help would be much appreciated, it's for an already-late college assignment.
    Thanks

It's OK, I had a corrupt file, I managed to fix it and export it is as a quicktime and swf.

  • Convert any format to swf

    hi guy,
    u have many formats,such
as,avi/wmv/mov/mpeg/dvd/mp4/3gp.ect,do u want to share with more
mane people on web.so follow me.
For playing on websites, you have many choices, such as FLV,
SWF, and HTML, or WMV, AVI (as YouTube accepts).
WMV and AVI files are much larger in size, so here we are
    using FLV, SWF, and HTML.
i used flash video mx pro convert QuickTime to swf and upload

  • Linking moview files in director

    Hi all,
I have managed to link 2 movie files in director together and am able to link back to specific frames etc etc.
Currently one of my links from the 2nd move moves to frame 149 in the 1st movie.  Now the link works but just a split second before that the frame before that appears.
Does anyone know if a way to get around this?
    Thanks
    Claire

    Hi Claire,
Can you be a little more specific with some details? Are you linking Director movies or actual video files (ie Quicktime, WMV, SWF, FLV...etc). What lingo are you using so that Director knows what do do after your "movies" are done playing? This information might help us help you better.

  • Flash flv file problems

I don't know if this is a fault on my part or not, it probably is though. I have been at this for over two days now, trying to figure out a way to do convert quicktime to swf.
I managed to create a flv file of the movie, the audio and video works with it. However when brining it into flash, the video time stretches so much that it's incredibly slow. Oddly enough the audio stays the same. I can export it as a swf after publishing it, but I don't like how messed up the audio and video are.
Is there a way to restretch the video in Flash? Or any other solution you can think of. I really need help as I have exhausted all resources that I can possibly think of. I am an amateur at best with these programs. Thank you for any help...

The biggest issue with out of sync audio/video when "embedding" an flv into the main timeline is that the frame rate of the Flash doc is not set to exactly the same frame rate as the video. So if the video was shot at 29.97 frames per second, you need to set the Flash doc to exactly that, 29.97. And unless there are some Internet download connection speed issues, it pretty much keeps the audio/video synced.
It only makes sense that playing a 29.97 video file in a 15 frames per seond Flash doc will slow the video display way down, since one frame of video equals one frame in Flash... but the audio part just plays at normal speed... otherwise it would be way distorted, like playing a tape/record in slow motion.
Here's a short sample video embedded directly into the timeline in a Flash doc set to 29.97 frames per sec:
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/sync.html
That being said, I would still not recommend embedding video into the main timeline except under special circumstances. Use the FLVPlayback component or NetStream to play an external video.

  • What i smy actual data rate of FLV

I need to be able to confirm my data rate of my final FLV
file. I am using Sorenson Squeeze VP6 codec and have my video data
rate at 150kbps. When I play it back using Quicktime or SWF player
( on OSX ) it says my data rate is 1400kbps. But when I play it
back on windows XP using FLV Player from Applian and check the
properties it says that I am at the correct bit rate. What gives?
How do I double check that Sorenson has encoded my media at the
    correct bit rate.
My basic settings in Sorenson are...
2 pass vbr at 150 for video and 48 for audio.
Thanks sooo much for your help!

ok i've figured out the physics of this question.
The Cache Read data rate is always larger than the Cache Write data rate, because the computer would have to be rendering to Cache faster than realtime for the Write rate to be higher, which would make it unnecessary to render to cache in the 1st place. So I'm really only worried about the Cache read data rate. Does adobe have a paper that tells us what the data rate is for different sequences.
    my 3 common workflows are
    canon h.264 1080 24p
    AVChd 1080 24p from my GH2 with a 44mb
    and
    r3d 5k epic footage 24p - (this is painful to edit )
anyone know where this info is?

  • Exporting .FLA or .SWF to Quicktime .MOV

I recently upgraded my iTunes and then Quicktime to version 7.1.3 - After that when I try to export a finished Macromedia 'Flash' (Professional 8) file to Quicktime .mov I get an error that "An error occurred because a required QuickTime component could not be found." Can you tell me what changed? What needs replacement? What needs reinstall? Thanks.

QuickTime can open Flash (.swf) files that are "published" as version 5, or lower. Newer versions of Flash can still create these files.
You'll also need to "Enable Flash" in the QuickTime Player to view these Flash tracks. This is new to QT 7.1.3 when Flash was disabled for security issues.

You don't have a choice, the only video file flash can load
    is FLV.
The only way is the covert the MOV to FLV and dynamically
    load on demand.

  • Same SWF plays great in Flash but badly in QuickTime!

    Hi,
I have created a movie in Flash that has a lot of bitmap images and published it as a .swf file. I am able to open it in QuickTime but the image quality is drastically reduced. When I open the same file in Flash Player it looks great.
Why does QuickTime reduce the quality so much and how can I avoid it? I need it to work good in QuickTime because I plan to import the movie into iScreensaver application that uses QuickTime to make screensavers.

Why does QuickTime reduce the quality so much and how can I avoid it?
Not sure it can be avoided at this point in QT. It is only an assumption, but I would assume the artifact pattern that bothers you is a product of the scaling algorithm as applied to the compressed data and rendered during playback.

  • Converting .fla or .swf to .mov (Quicktime)

I've read the thread about Quicktime 7.3.1 which I have not supporting Flash files. That being said, is there anyway to open a .swf or .fla file and convert to .mov to be used with Final Cut Pro?
    Thanks in advance,
    Shelley

If you have the Perian component. You can open a flv in quicktime and then export it to a format/code that FCP understands.
    http://perian.org/
Quicktime no longer allows flash track. Meaning, you can't open .swf in Qt. Even if the flash track track is version 5 or below.
You can open a .swf in the Flash program and then export it to Quicktime movie.

  • How to play swf files in quicktime

I have recently upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard on my MBP. Before I could play swf files (with no associated html files) in Quicktime okay, but in Snow Leopard you cannot select the swf to play. Is there a plug in that I now need to play this?

Perian is definitely not the route. Frrom http://perian.org :
File formats: AVI, DIVX, FLV, MKV, GVI, VP6, and VFW
SWF is a special container made by Adobe Director and can be played back with streaming software, such as a Web page that has the Adobe Shockwave plugin. Open an SWF file in Safari or other browser after installing the latest Shockwave Player, free from Adobe. Some other software that is designed for streaming playback can play SWF media, but not a typical video player like QuickTime Player.
The contents of an SWF container might include an FLV video file or bitmap images either alone or with other data. Shockwave Player has 3D graphics and interaction options (can capture video, sound, mouse movements etc. from your system by default and send them to a remote server if you don't turn off these permissions).

  • Quicktime 7.1.3 won't play .mov or .swf inserted in powerpoint

I have been using Quicktime in ppt for sometime and it always played video loops fine. I upgraded to 7.1.3 and I have all kinds of problems. I have gone under the Quicktime preferences and MIME files and activated video and miscellanous types. Once I close the window though it reverts back to default and I can no longer open mov or swf. Is there a way to save these changes? Secondly when I insert a movie into ppt now it does not work. If I just open the file using Quicktime it works but not when embedded in ppt. I have reinstalled Quicktime 7.0.4 and the movies work fine. The other problem I have is that I upgraded to iTunes 7 and it requires 7.1.3 so when I remove 7.1.3 I can't use any of the video features of iTunes. Does anybody have any work arounds. Very, Very frustrated In South Dakota

    Quicktime Kirk,
I have downloaded another persons inquiry because it is exactly the problem I am having. Here is his post
"I make movies of cells and convert them to quick time and insert them into powerpoint for presentations for conferences. I never had a problem with this until I upgraded to office 2004 and now many (but not all) of my movies won't play. They seem to be there but when I click play they go white as though there is only the first image. I had saved them as cinepak and or jpeg A usually with image J or older ones from the original NIH image and I can't figure out what the problem is. I even upgraded to quicktime pro to resave them as self contained but still they don't work when I insert them. I can play them all with quicktime player and when I make new ones now in image j I save them as video and that seems to work but it would be very difficult to go back and do that with everything. Does anyone know why or how to fix this?"
My additional comments would be I used the Sample_iTunes.mov from QT and it plays like a champ in PPT. My movies are all from 2004. When I save them in the QT 7.1.3 it doesn't seem to make any difference. The older movies insert into PPT as a QT icon with 4 color quadriant. Everything including .swf are now working in QT. Thanks for your help. When I go back to 7.0.3 they work but then I can't play my videos in iTunes unless I do an erase and a reinstall to get rid of the updated iTunes. Thanks

  • Swf Quicktime Pro iTunes

Until the latest OS upgrade it was possible to save .swf (in use as soundfiles) files with Quicktime Pro as .mov files. These files you could import into iTunes and play them as any other .mp3's in this program.
But after the latest OS 10.4.3 upgrade this seems to be history. Although iTunes still 'plays' the files, I can't hear them anymore.
Does anyone know about this problem and have a solution?

Thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it.
    Third party software?
I moved my old QuickTime to the desktop and reinstalled using the Installer from the Apple site (this after performing an Archive and Install). It is now a bare-bones QT with no third party software.
    Out of date DivX?
All DivX components removed and placed in a "quicktime plug=ins temp" folder.
Does the QuickTime browser plug-in still work as expected?
    Interestingly, yes it does.

  • SWF Quicktime Error

    Hi again Experts
I did notice that there is an existing discussion open on this subject (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/331665?) but as it received no replies (apart from mine) & was posted in June 2008, I hoped someone might have come up with a solution since then.
Each time I try to place a .swf file in InDesign, I receive a Quicktime error message. Quicktime (.mov) files work fine, but I want to use Flash & Shockwave content in my publications too.I have updated ShockWave, Flash & Quicktime Pro installations, yet InDesign CS3 tells me "Failed due to Quicktime Error." each time I try & place the .SWF file (which plays perfectly in Flash CS3.)
I tried uninstalling & reinstalling ShockWave, Flash & Quicktime, but no difference. Any Ideas, thoughts or suggestions? It seems this is a not uncommon problem, as there are similar discussions / threads on other forums too, but as yet, I have not found any answers. Please help!
    Thanks & regards
    Chris

Apple has a long trail of abandoned and removed technologies, one of them is their SWF support built into Quicktime, independent from Flash player. You can either downgrade your Quicktime, or hope that Adobe adds direct SWF support to InDesign and PDF that does not use Quicktime. Maybe that already works somehow (could be CS4, as you mention CS3), I just do not know.
A Google search on the topic lead me to some alternatives:
