Quicktime upgrade = no controls in Firefox

My quicktime in firefox now has no controls (pause, ff, etc.) since the quicktime upgrade today, when a few hours ago before the upgrade the controls were available. How can I get them to appear?

*Repairing permissions:*
Save and/or quit your applications & doucuments
Go to Applications>Utilities Folder
Click Disk Utility
Click the Volumn (HD) that you want to check.
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button. (Don't worry about verifying)
At the bottom of window when the repairs have finished, you will see the “most important thing”:
Permission Repairs Complete
The previliges have been repaired or completed on the selected volumn.
Restart your computer (Optional).
Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and select your volume and then select Repair Permissions.

You can try to disable the Java Quick starter and the Java Console extension in the Control Panel > Java.
Control Panel > Java > Advanced tab > Miscellaneous >Java Quick Starter (disable)

About Upgrade specification for each Firefox version

Dear Everyone,
I would like to ask all of you about Upgrade specification of each firefox version.
<Platform>
Window Vista 32bit / Windows 7 32bit
<Target version>
- Firefox 3.6.19
- Firefox 4.0.1
- Firefox 5.0.1
<List of question>
1. Is Firefox 3.6.19 upgraded to 5.0.1 automatically?
*Auto update option is enabled
My understanding is that only 4.0.1 is upgraded to 5.0.1 automatically
2. Is there any diffrerence between Auto upgrade and Manual upgrade ( run Firefox Setup 5.0.1 ), when I upgrade Firefox to 5.0.1 from 4.0.1
For example, once uninstallation will run then install happens by Manual upgrade, or just overwrite files and modules by Auto upgrade, etc..
3. Which keys and value should be changed to control Auto upgrade timing in About:config option?
For example, just after 5 mins, Auto upgrade will happen by changing from xxx to xxx in value x, etc...
It would be very helpful if you kindly give any advice or commnet.

QuickTime Upgrades affect photo downloads?

I recently completed a QuickTime upgrade installation (the kind that pop up when you restart your computer). Since I did this, now, when I select a link to view photos on certain webistes, it brings up the QuickTime logo with at "?" - and the photos never load.
I have never had this problem downloading photos from these same websites and the only thing that has changed in the QuickTime upgrade....any suggestions on how I might be able to go back to viewing these photos?

I know some of you uber Mac fiends will find fault with this, but they AREN'T worth it. iTunes 6.0.2 has the shaddy "Mini Store" which is a sham and QuickTime 7.0.4 caused my MPEG-2s to glitch out every time I accessed them in my finder window.
To anyone that has installed these programs, here's what I ended up doing to solve my problem. I inserted my restore disc and reinstalled the OS while saving my old one. Then I updated my programs using the disc that came with my 5th Generation/Video iPod. My iPod came with a disc containing both iTunes 6.0 and QuickTime 7.0.3. I know this is convoluted, but I found it to be worth while.
And the updates provided by the iPod updater 1.1 for the video iPod are not worth it unless you really feel the need to listen to crappy commercial Clear Channel/Infinity Broadcasting radio stations. I guess some people like listening to the Pussycat Spice Girl Dolls, every hour, on the hour. With static. And inane chatter.

My question is you can trust Apples updates anymore. Apple or Firefox has not been keen on solving this issue. Next time I´ll wait quite a long time for sure until all bugs are taken care of. >>

I switched to another browser after you got rid of Brendan Eich, how do I not remove the "Upgrade to the New Firefox" ad from my browser?

I now use Google Chrome and recently the "Upgrade to the new Firefox has been showing up on my Yahoo email screen. I'd like to get rid of it as I don't expect I'll ever switch back to Firefox (though I used it for years and really did like it) as I'm now comfortable with Chrome.

Mozilla did not get rid Brendan Eich, a man who co-founded the Mozilla project, the Mozilla Foundation and the Mozilla Corporation. He made the decision himself to leave as his way of trying to help Mozilla.
Mozilla lost users due to the misinterpretations of what really happened as many had hatred towards Mozilla for making Brendan as CEO and hate from those who did support Brendan as CEO and thought Mozilla caved in to the pressure of having him step down and thought they fired him.
All because of donation that he made back in 2008 and was public record due to a California law. Mozilla knew about this for years and he was accepted and supported by lgbt employees even. Yet many outsiders were sadly not supportive of him being promoted from CTO to CEO and those hateful people were even worse towards some lgbt employees who received death threats even for supporting Brendan as CEO.

I can no longer (since upgrading to the latest firefox) open up multiple tabs of the same page (something I need to be able to do when emailing and referencing multiple emails while writing one email). The only option it gives me is to 'switch to tab'.

I'll try to make this clear. I USED to be able to left click on a hyper link and the hyper link would open in a NEW tab. Now for some unknown reason the hyper link by default opens in the same tab (window). I have to right click the hyper link in order for it to open in a NEW tab. (Yes, my 'tools'> 'options'> 'tabs' are set to "open new windows in a new tab." (Please no answers telling me to get rid of the Ask toolbar because I don't have one.) Thank you.

Since I upgraded to the new Firefox, the Chat on Yahoo no longer works.

I upgraded to the newest Firefox for my Dell computer with Windows 7.
When I went to use the chat section of my Yahoo email page...the chat section will NOT work.
When I went back to the Explorer (instead of Firefox)..it works fine.
The new upgrade did something to the upgrade of Firefox.

Problem using Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control in Firefox 3.6.6

Hello all,
I just intalled Oracle 11g and trying to familiarize myself with Enterprise Manager 11g Dataabse Control using Firefox 3.6.6 in Windows XP.
I'm able to login to Enterprise manager successfully.
However, when I click on on "Performance Tab", the "SYSTEM_MOVING_WINDOW" is empty, and there's a prompt "Click Here to Download Plugin."
When I do click on it, I get message:
No suitable plugins were found.
Unknown plugin (application/octet-stream) [Manual Install].
I'm not sure what plugin I need so I can use Enterprise Manager properly.

I use the Opera browser so I can split the screen to monitor multiple instances at the same time on my 2nd monitor. I am not having issues with the 10g OEM but having the same problem listed in this thread with the 11g OEM ( we have both running during our migration to 11g). The posts here didn't help me with the 11g OEM as there must be some difference from 10g OEM. I will hate it if I can't do the split screen to monitor multiple instances at the same time. And if you are connecting via solaris or lunix browser then IE is not an option ( W3C standards please ).

Can I set parental control on firefox for a specific user only?

I'm using windows 7 and firefox 18.0.2. On my PC I have my Admin account and my kids account. Now as they're coming to an age they're needing Internet access for projects and so on, I wonder if I can set parental control on firefox (by add-on?) as I have on windows, so that whenthey log on their account, firefox will only allow access to what I have allowed. That is, limit internet usage ONLY on their account, while I'll still be able to use firefox unrestrictedly. I don't want to have them use another browser that I' m not as familiar with just so I can set parental control on everything on that browser. Any ideas?

If you mean you want to block certain sites by some parental control software, you can try a web filter to block sites by URL or keywords.

After iTunes/Quicktime update, no flash in Firefox

Hi,
I have now several times had the same problem after I updated iTunes and quicktime, the flash objects in Firefox get the question mark.
I did extensive search on this on the web, apple forum and firefox forum and have now found one solution that has worked couple of times for me.
After the iTunes/Quicktime is updated, and you get question marks instead of flash objects.
Solution:
1. Close firefox
2. Go to the firefox plugins directory. Can be found at C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins
3. Remove all npqtplugin.dll files (usually 7 of them, numbered as npqtplugin[2..7].dll).
4. Start firefox, and test some flash based page.
This solution works at Windows 2000, Firefox 2.x and latest iTunes/Quicktime.

I don't understand, where on my computer is such a Firefox plug ins list.
My situation is similar, but I notice Quicktime/Flash failures on ALL my browsers...I.E., Netscape, Real Player. Isn't this something Apple should be taking care of, having messed up our software with their download?
How do I reverse the download-Quicktime 7.1.5, etc?

Unable to print after installing the new Quicktime upgrade

I can not print to my Epson printer after installing the new Quicktime upgrade on my PowerBook G4 (1.67 GHz, OS X Version 10.4.11). I have re-installed the driver from Epson (several times), and have safe booted and reset my permissions but it will not print. My printer is a Epson Stylus Photo R1800. When I print, it just gives me this message... "Looking for Printer 'EPSON Stylus Photo R1800' "

Upgrading robosource control from 3.0 to 3.1

Hi,
Our doc. group will be upgrading robosource control from 3.0
to 3.1. I can't find much documentation on this. I know that there
are both clent and server upgrades for 3.1. Other than running both
the client and server upgrades, is there anything else that we
should be aware of or may need to do to complete the upgrade (and
successfully connnect to our exisitng database)??
We've already sucessfully upgraded from RH 6 to RH 7.
Any info. you can provide is appreciated.

There must be loads of people who still use Precision 670s and I fail to understand why Microsoft would block using 8.1 for this model (or its processor).
Perhaps not. I had my last Precision 470 (same Dell design era) die late last year (it was running Vista x64 nicely at the time). I tried to resurrect it but when I opened it up I found the plastic parts just were falling apart. I finally
determined the problem to be on the motherboard somewhere and, given the power of modern systems, I just kicked it to the curb and integrated all the duties it was performing into the other systems we have. The processors in the Precision 470/670
line are getting near 10 years old. That's an eternity in modern computing terms.
As far as failing to understand... At some point every software author must make a decision whether to continue to build their systems to run on old hardware, or use instructions that only newer hardware supports in order to take advantage of
the additional power and capability it provides.

Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.

If that works post back for further advice.
Next step, if safe mode did not work.
First: Try a clean install, (you have had a none standard version installed previously) that involves deleting the program files. Then if necessary try troubleshooting by creating and using a clean empty Firefox profile.
