Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime version 7.0

Hey, just installed the newest version of iTunes today off the iTunes site.
Getting the following message:
quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime version 7.0.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes.
I have re-downloaded the install file and ran the "repair" option, but no good has come, same error.
Any suggestions?
P.s. It worked fine after the install was first complete, it was after I restarted the PC that it wouldnt work.

I needed to hunt down an instal file for JUST quicktime (not quicktime and iTunes - doesnt work)

  • Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime 7.0.3...

My error message is: Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime 7.0.3 or higher. Please reinstall iTunes.
This all started when I was trying to upgrade. I have downloaded the new quicktime and when it came to the option of reparing or uninstalling, I chose repair.
I read through other problems, but didn't find this error message.
Can anyone please help me? In a way in which I don't lose my library?

Sorry. Um. Try to completely remove the Quicktime program from the Add/Remove directory via Control Panel. Reboot your computer. From the Apple website Save the Quicktime program to your Desktop (i.e., rather than "run from this location.") Install Quicktime by clicking on the Quicktime install program that should be present on your desktop. When it is done, reboot your computer.

I hope that that is the correct link.

  • QuickTime version 7.1 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3

QuickTime version 7.1 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes.
That's the error message I have gotten for the past 3 days since trying to upgrade itunes. I have the newest quicktime downloaded, have deleted itunes and quicktime and redownloaded it all, and it still won't work. I have NO idea what to do to make this work, but it's driving me crazy. If anyone can help, please give some advice.

You can try to fully remove both iTunes and Quicktime. Then reinstall the software again. The following link will walk you through the removal of both programs. Make sure you complete Step 16 in the article. Good luck.

  • Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed  itunes needs 7.1.3 or later

    HI
I keep getting this message when i try to open itunes. all i did was install the newest itunes download and now it wont work at all. Have tried to reinstall as it said but when i do it tells me there is a newer version ive downloaded and wont let me continue. Please help as tearing hair out lol

let's try swapping out your QuickTime.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • Error: quicktime v7.0d0 installed. itunes requires quicktime v7.03 or later

i have tried solutions posted on 3 different threads to fix this error when trying to upgrade to the new itunes and when trying to re-install 6.05. nothing works and i keep getting the same error message.
    please help

i have tried the options below:
How to regress from iTunes 7 to iTunes 6.0.5
    1. Make sure you have a copy of the iTunes 6.0.5 installer. If you no longer have one, download it here:
    http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3rdpty2.pl/product=11622&cat=1&platform =osx&method=sa/iTunesSetup.exe
    2. Shut down iTunes 7 if it is running
    3. Uninstall iTunes 7 via the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
    4. Go to your iTunes MUSIC folder (usually C:\My Documents\My Music\iTunes). You will see two files called "iTunes Library" and "iTunes Music Library". These belong to iTunes 7, DELETE them.
NOTE: Take care not to confuse this with the iTunes INSTALLATION folder, which is usually C:\Program Files\iTunes.
    5. You will also see a folder called "Previous iTunes Libraries". Look inside, there may be several copies depending upon your upgrade history with names like "iTunes Library 2006-09-12". Take the most recent one (the last one used by iTunes 6) and COPY it up to the folder C:\My Documents\My Music\iTunes. Now RENAME this file back to simply "iTunes Library".
NOTE: To copy a file in Windows, right-click the file and choose "Copy". Now go to the folder you wish to copy to, right-click in the empty folder space and choose "Paste".
NOTE: To rename a file in Windows, select the file and press F2. Now type the name you want and press ENTER.
After this is done, your iTunes MUSIC folder (C:\My Documents\My Music\iTunes) should contain the following objects:
    a) The file "iTunes Library" that you just copied there and renamed
    b) The folder "Previous iTunes Libraries"
    c) The folder "iTunes Music"
    6. Now reinstall iTunes 6. All your playlists and ratings will appear as if nothing had happened. And, your Shuffle will work once more.
    and . . .

  • Quicktime 7.1.3 wont install, iTunes wont work.

When ever I start iTunes, first of all it never opens up but a error comes up saying....
"QuickTime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime Version 7.1.3 or later.
    Please Reinstall iTunes"
So I reinstall iTunes, I have done this about 4 times.I have also removed iTunes and reinstalled it completly but it seems like Quicktime is not updating with it. Is there older Quicktime folder that I need to get rid of or something?

I was having the same problem. I followed the post from Colin and the link to 'Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows' and after a full uninstall following all the steps and 'Disable other conflicting software' after doing this and reinstalling it has started working again.
I hope it works for you.

  • Massive problems installing itunes and quicktime

Hi, to anyone who can help me:
I cannot install iTunes or quicktime. Just bought a new ipod 30gb. v.excited. Downloaded itunes. gives me error messages when i try to install.
They read: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
    and
"The installation of Quicktime did not complete successfully. ITunes requires Quicktime."
I have tried using CCleaner to clean up my hard drive and uninstall both itunes and quicktime (old and dodgy new versions). I have tried using 7-zip to unpack the new downloaded files and install from the .msi and other .exe files.
I have tried installing the standalone Quicktime (which wont install properly) and then installing itunes (which won't install properly, coz quicktime is not installed properly)
I have tried rebooting my computer between these attempts
I have tried it with my virus-protection software off as one thread here suggested.
I am logged on as administrator for all these attempts and i'm at my wits end.
    I have tried everything!
please help me if you have suggestions.
    Thanks

    interesting.
did you have an earlier version of itunes and/or quicktime installed on the PC? in particular, an itunes 6.0.x or lower version, and/or a QuickTime 7.1 or lower version?
(checking on this because i'm wondering if there's a DCOM permissions issue involved with the uninstall of your previous versions of itunes/quicktime.)

  • Why whenever i try to open my itunes, it says " itunes requires quicktime 7.5.5. or later?

Why is it that whenever i try to open my itunes, it says " itunes requires quicktime 7.5.5. or later???

    QuickTime 7.5.5 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL27
    QuickTime 7.7 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/dl761
=New version of Quicktime installed but application reports it needs to have that version installed=
Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications.  I recently helped where the person had re-installed their operating system.  It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework that works with many applications.  Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem.
Installation get stuck at "configuring installation" - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2592979?threadID=2592979  - uninstall Quicktime before installing.

  • ITunes requires new version of Apple Mobile Device Support....

Hi - I have just bought an iPod touch. I a;ready have a classic and a nano but as iTunes 9 was out I thought I'd upgrade to that before syncing the new Touch. However now I get the error:-
iTunes requires new version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please uninstall both Apple Mobile Device Support and iTunes, then install iTunes agan.
So I did this following the procedure on the Apple Suport pages which referenced exactly this error message but from an earlier version (7 I think) of iTunes).
Basically, I used control panel to uninstall all the bits (including iTunes, Apple MDS, Quicktime and Bonjour) in the order it says. Rebooted, checked that program folders and files had really gone, downloaded a fresh copy of iTunes and installed - exactly the same error.
My Classic syncs fine. The Touch also syncs fine on a laptop I have on which I have iTunes 9.01 at the moment. The Touch is being detected because I get the USB conect sound and the error message in iTunes pops up as soon as it is connected.
The Apple Mobile Device Service is running (it was not running when I checked staright after the install, but I manually started it (it is set ot Auto start)) using .exe version 2.12.36.0
PC is a Windows Vista 64 running iTunes 9.02. The iTunes pack I downloaded was called iTunes64Setup so I'm guessing its the right one.
I always seem to be tearing my hair out when I get a new iPod or new iTunes. Not much left now so has anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks very much,
    Stuart

Found the solution in my case. I followed the Apple uninstall procedure again:-
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
and found that the Apple Mobile Device Support did not uninstall properly. I needed to download an MS utility called Windows Installer Cleaup Utility
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
(there was a post somewhere on here about it so thanks to that person).
When I rebooted, I found however that the Mobile Device Service was still installed and running and the installed files were present in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple.
So I Stopped the service (Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, Right click on the service and choose Properties, then click Stop. For good measure I also set it to Disabled (overkill) using the dropdown which will probably say Automatic when you look at it.
Then I found a Microsoft utility called SC.exe which is available in the Windows resource kit and can also be found here:-
    http://www.petri.co.il/downloadfree_reskittools.htm
This is a command line tool, but easy to use. Unzip the sc.zip file, place sc.exe somewhere handy where you can find it from a command prompt and then open a command line (Start, Run..., type "cmd" Enter). Go to the folder where you put sc.exe and type the command:-
sc delete "Apple Mobile Device" (you need the quotes).
This deletes the service from the services list in the registry (you can check by closing the Services box and opening it again).
Now go to c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files and delete the folder and subfolders called Apple.
OK - should have given your system a full clean out.
    Then reinstall iTunes.
That was easy - but I guess I can forgive Apple for not being able to upgrade a version of iTunes without messing up - it's only version 9.0 after all, I'm sure it'll be OK in the next release. Seems like they're learning some tricks from Microsoft.
You folks in the US and Canada are luck however because you can get some help with this stuff. There's no help from Apple if you're in the UK.

  • Can't install iTunes or QuickTime on Vista.  Vista is killing me. HALP!

I read through all the [million] other posts with Vista problems but mine is a bit different.
Its a brand new Dell computer with 32bit Vista Home Premium which I have learned is a bad idea but now I'm stuck with it and without my music. I hear some people don't have problems with ITunes and Vista at all so I still have hope.
When I try to install iTunes 8 plus QuickTime this is the error:
"the installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully. iTunes requires QuickTime."
When I try to install QuickTime on its own this is the error:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2755."
Thanks for any info. Peace in the new year to all!

I am having this same problem. Has anyone found a solution?
