Quicktime videos on web will not play

on one website in particular, the quicktime videos will not play. on another website, they will.

This won't work because you have to pay to view the videos. However, I was told that others can view the videos.
I discovered that if I disable my security software, the Web protection part, then I can view the videos. I tried just typing in the website URLs as "exceptions" to the web protection, but that did not work. perhaps my security software firm can help.

Hello. I have AV player hd. When I touch and hold the Quicktime icon that is in a received mail message, a prompt comes up "Open in AVPlayerHD". I click on that and a black screen opens up with the following on it:
1--A red line at the top with a short white slider button on the right hand side. There is a time listed at each end of the red line that says 00:00
2--On the left hand side of the screen, near the middle, there are 4 icons, a colored 'x', a dialogue icon, a circular arrow and an 'i' in a circle.
3--On the right hand side there is a + and a - sign with '1.00x' in the middle of the two.
4--At the bottom of the black screen is a play icon plus forward and fast forward icons.
When I press the play icon it changes to a stop icon.
So, even though I have AV player I cannot play this Quicktime slideshow.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Congratulations on the new Mini. Are you saying you tried burning and it does not play, or do you want to burn it only for the computer to be able to play it?

This helped overcome the crash problem, but (as reported before), I still have to start iTunes in Safe Mode in order to watch any videos. This has been the case since 10.5.
The regular mode behavior has changed a bit - instead of the progress bar moving to the end of the video, showing no video but playing the audio for about three seconds, it now leaves the progress bar where it is ... but the rest of the behavior hasn't changed.
Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit on an HP dv8t quad-core laptop w/ 8 GB RAM, running nVidia GeForce 230M with 1 GB video RAM.
Thanks for your prompt response to the original problem posted above. At least now I'm back where I started from before I upgraded to 10.7. Not optimal, but I've finally gotten used to doing a Ctrl-Shift-click to run iTunes.

Some videos on YouTube will not play

As of a few days ago some of the videos on YouTube will not play I tried IE(I stopped using after it ask for an update) ,but then I had to use google chome and I hate it, but the videos played. Its not every video, and some times it's the same video I just played not to long ago. I fear that soon I might not be able to view most videos on YouTube. I cleared my cache, made sure everything it up-to-date, although Silverlight-plugin will not update, no matter what I try to do( I hope that is not the reason, because Silverlight won't up-date.) I'm am not sure when this problem first arose, at first I though it was Google/YouTube having issues, but it seems like Google's browser works fine on the videos that do not play on Firefox. What can I do, I need Firefox to work, I can't bare to move to another browser.

A few other thoughts:
(1) For a video where this happens, does the problem persist if you try reloading a few times using Ctrl+Shift+r?
(2) Is there any difference in how you connect to Youtube between your browsers? You can check Firefox's connection setting here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button
The default is "Use system proxy settings" but you also could try "No proxy".
(3) Have you received any SSL-related errors, such as pages reporting a certificate problem and requiring you to make an exception, or missing styles or functionality on secure sites?
(4) If you opted in to the html5 player, is there a pattern of the problem videos being in one format or the other (HTML5 player vs. Flash player)? https://www.youtube.com/html5

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.

Quicktime 7.6.4 will not play a .MPG clip brought in from Sony dcr-sr46

We loaded a clip from the camera onto our desktop but Quicktime 7.6.4 will not play the clip. It says it is a .mpg clip. A warning comes up and says " the movie could not be open" the file was not a movie file. This baffles us. Because info on the clip says it is 67mb. therefore it has info. we tried to change it to a .mov file and still would not play. Does any one have any ideas to why? Is it a sony thing?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Unsync all music and videos and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

Quicktime video (.mov file) will not load and play in Firefox 3.6.16

I have a computer with Firefox 3.6.16 installed that will not play Quicktime videos (.mov files) in the browser. This is a desktop computer.
Another computer (laptop) with exactly the same version of Firefox installed will load and play them perfectly in the Quicktime player.
Both computers have Quicktime addin 7.6.9.0 installed and designated as the default application for Quicktime movies.
Both computers play the videos correctly in IE 8.
When attempting to play the video in Firefox, the player window opens and attempts to load the video, but soon seems to freeze leaving a black window open where the player should be.
From what I have observed, this seems to be a problem related specifically to this computer, and since the video plays in IE I have ruled out the firewall blocking loading from the site.

Hi, I've exactly the same problem, 'cept I've XP Pro. When I say exactly, I mean the format used is HDV 1080i60, along with everything else there.
And I'm right there with you. Why Quicktime can't play a natively encoded HDV Quicktime file (using Final Cut Pro), is beyond me, but basically, I've used K-Lite Codec Pack, and Quicktime. Neither work, although Quicktime does ask for internet connectivity to download resources or something similar (I don't have Internet Access at home). I've used VLC on a friend's PC, and, while it works, there is a very strange, and irritating flicker where there's heavy movement
Where can I get the resource needed, as another party needs to view the clip, and they already have it. So if they can update their codec library or similar, then that would be much better (as I wouldn't need to upload a FullHD Video again)

I have several recorded videos saved in mp4 format that will not open in Quicktime. The audio plays, but the video is only a black screen. I have one mp4 file that I recorded a few days before the others that will open in Quicktime. All the files open in VLC, DivX, Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5, and Windows Media Player. I am using Windows 7 and I need to import these videos into Photoshop CS5.5 extended which it will not do if the files won't play in Quicktime. Your video data rates are virtually nonexistent. (I.e., a "normal" quality AAC stereo track for a video file is typically recorded with a sampling rate in the 44.1 KHz at 128 Kbps to 48 KHz at 160 Kbps range.) As you can see in the inspector images the total audio plus video data rate allocated for your files are all little more than that required to support a "normal" stereo audio track. Recompress the files using a more realistic video data rate. Try something in 1.25 Mbps to 2.50 Mbps range as a starting point and determine the minimum level of quality you can live with here. (I.e., a typical VGA SD iPod file is normally compressed with a video data rate on the order of 1.5 Mbps to 1.7 Mbps.)

Just a word of advice, if you continue trying to implement a solution before you know what the problem is,
you are just creating a worse situation.
Post back with what operating system are you using?
Which Browser and version?

TV shows we purchased from iTunes, that our son has watched many times and are invaluable while traveling, will not play now that we have upgraded to ios7. The videos load, but then seize up over and over. Please fix or let us restore to 6 immediately. Similar to Crowls1010.

Videos and Music will not play using Safari or Chrome

I have tried every trouble shooting option I can find on the internet. Nothing is working. Adobe is fully updated. Safari is fully updated. Chrome is fully updated. Videos will not play on websties such as CNN, CBC. Music will not play on websites such as Sound Cloud.
YouTube and Netflix work fine.
