Quicktime Videos onto iPod Classic

Hi
I received an iPod classic for Christmas. I have several movies on my iBook that I had transferred onto my computer from the DVD transfer program, HandBrake. They are Quicktime formatted and I successfully transferred them into my iTunes library. However when I went to sync by iPod it said the movie could not be copied to my iPod because it cannot be played on my iPod.
Any suggestions or helpful hints?

  • Having trouble syncing video to Ipod Classic 160GB

    Hi all,
Finally moved up to an Ipod after a few too many years with other brands...and am really enjoying the Ipod/Itunes combo for music.
Video's a different matter, though, and I could use your help!
I'm trying to get a few videos onto my Classic, and have converted them into MP4 format and put them in the "Movies" folder in Itunes (they show up alongside every video I've shot on my digital camera). My Ipod is set to sync automatically, and does so for music, but not for video. I was able to get the videos on using the instructions I found on http://www.ehow.com/how4925922download-videos-onto-ipod-classic.html , but the next time I synced music on my Ipod, it removed the videos I'd added.
Is there a way that I could add videos manually, and keep syncing music automatically, without the automatic syncing removing things that I added manually? Or could I set Itunes/Ipod up such that music is automatically queued for syncing, while videos need to be approved for syncing?
Basically, how can I get this to work?
    Many thanks for your help.

    Hello stopheles,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
How do you currently have your iPod set up to sync Videos? What settings do you have enabled from under the Videos tab for your iPod in iTunes? Specifically, the "Automatically sync (Select Option Here, e.g. all) movies" option on this tab.

  • Quicktime video on IPod

    Hello all,
When I try to open a QuickTime video on IPod with Safari, I see a "desactivate feature logo".
With all other browsers on PC and MAC (IE, Chrone, Firefox), I can watch the QuickTime video.
The problem is only on IPod.
    Is there a solution ?
    Thank in advance.

    Thank Allan for your response.
    In fact, I've read your topic about Using the HTML5 <audio> and <video> Tags -> http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/QuickTime/Conceptual/QTScr iptingHTML/QTScripting_HTMLDocument/ScriptingHTML.html.
We can read "Make sure your audio and video use only broadly supported media and codecs so they will play properly in all browsers, whether or not QuickTime is used. Currently this means video media using the H.264 codec and audio media using the AAC/HE-AAC codec. Do not include sprites, VR, or other media."
    And about container ?
With .MOV container and H.264 Codec, it doesn't work.
With M4V container and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Codec, it works.
Is it normal than .MOV container doesn't work on Iphone ? M4V container is the only format compatible with Iphone/Ipad ?

  • Loading cd collection onto ipod classic 80g

ihave 700cds to load onto ipod classic 80G via itunes but my computer only has room for approx250.Can i delete those 250 from my itunes folder and start again?how do i load them all?

To load them all you would have to buy an external hard drive to move some other things over from your computer or just have the music files on the hard drive. If you can only have 250 of them then here is what to try.
Import the first 250, then have the ipod on manually manage music etc... Drag and drop all the 250 CDs content to the iPod.
After done copying delete the files for the first 250 and then put the next set on and repeat copying them to the ipod, repeat this until all 700 CDs are on iPod.

  • Syncing movies onto iPod Classic/Video

I seem to have some major difficulty with syncing movies and such onto my iPod.
I got my iPod last year for Christmas (December 2006), and I have tried and tried to upload videos onto my iPod, except it always says ""-insert movie here- was not copied to the iPod "Fiona's iPod" because it cannot be played on this iPod"
I don't really understand why it doesn't work.
The article that Apple officially write on how to Sync videos onto the iPod DOES NOT WORK!
Please tell me something useful to solve this problem, perhaps something you have done previously that would be of use?
    Thank you.

You can try one of three things (or all three to find the one that works best for you):
    1. Right-click on the file in iTunes and choose "Convert video for iPod". It is a long process, especially for something longer than 20 minutes, and it doesn't always work in my experience.
    2. Buy a license for Quicktime so you have the options of QT Pro. Load the movie/video into QT and then export it into iPod format with the settings you desire, then re-add it to iTunes. This is basically the same as the first option, but a bit faster because iTunes itself pretty much will eat half your computer's resources just running idle. Give iTunes something to do, and it will start to huff and puff like a 400lb. linebacker running wind-sprints. But QT is much sleeker and does the job better too. Plus QT Pro lets you do some nice things, like editing your .mp4 & .m4v iPod movies.
    3. For what you're talking about, this is probably the cheapest and most reliable option - download and install [Videora|http://www.videora.com> and then convert the file in this program. Videora is fast, simple, and works pretty darn well. Oh, did I mention it's free and has frequent updates? It's great for converting those Quicktime movies that just aren't formatted right for the iPod.

  • Can't play videos on ipod classic

I'm unable to play mp4 videos on my iPod Classic. I can play them fine in my iTunes library on my computer, and they are loaded onto my iPod.  But when I click to play the videos nothing happens (I get a black screen for a moment, then nothing).  I've dowloaded the latest version of iTunes and not sure what else to try.  Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

  • Videos on iPod Classic

I have a little Flip video recorder and want to put the videos I take with it onto my Classic. How do I do that. I tried copying the films into iTunes but they don't appear. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hey there,
What type of format are the movie files? You may have to convert them to one that is compatible with the iPod. Compatible types are *.mp4, *.mov, and *.m4v, and H.264. You may have to install a third party application to convert the files to the right type. There are plenty out there. Hope this helps.

  • Can't transfer video to ipod classic

I recently added 6 new videos to my Itunes library. When I tried to manually transfer them to my Ipod Classic only 1 of the 6 shows up on my Ipod. When I drag any of the other ones over it shows the little green plus sign, but never has the spinning circle that shows it's adding it to the Ipod. All of the videos are the same format and all will play through itunes. I tried resetting the ipod, but no help. Any suggestions?

I figured it out. I went to play the video directly from iTunes rather than trying to transfer it to the iPod. I got a message I am not authorized, just like before. But this time it asked me if i want to authorize it. I clicked yes, obviously and voila...successful authorization. Now I can play it on my computer and iPod. Sorry for wasting everyone's time with this.

  • Using Video with iPod Classic 80GB

    Hello All,
I am James I am a new user with the iPod, I have a Classic Black Colour, 80GB. So far I use it for muisic, Photos and wanted to watch movies. Does it support movies at all? I put some video clips in mp4 format, itunes converted to a suitable format but then When I watched it, I could only hear it with a picture displayed and no movie loading. Is this normal? or am I doing something wrong?
Another thing is that I don't have a proper user manual? Do you know where I can download one?
    regards
    James

On your iPod go to "Videos / Video Settings".
Then select "TV Out" and either set it to "off" or "ask".
Also, make sure you are accessing the video through the videos menu. If you have a video mixed in an audio playlist and you access it through that, you also won't be able to see the video.

  • Itunes Wont Load videos onto Ipod

hi, i currently have a 60GB ipod video, and now itunes is refusing to load any videos onto my ipod, i tried so many different programs to convert video, eg videora, PQ DVD, and Replay converter etc.
and i get the same error, it says video was not copied to the ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod.
is there a way to load videos without using Itunes? or can i force itunes to load the videos?
    any help would be appreciated...
    thanx ^_^

"All my songs are listed on the IPOD but are faded where they are in regular font in my library"
Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists".
Try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. This will give you a fresh installation and allow you to start over: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings

  • Downloading hd video for ipod classic

I downloaded some TV shows from the Itunes store for my Ipod classic.  I find out after I purchased them that they will not play on the Ipod.  From what I am reading, it sounds like the HD versions will not play on an Ipod classic.  That seemed strange since I am very certain that I have downloaded other HD videos from the store and never ran into this problem.  Possibly the other HD videos were not 1080?  I also don't recall being given the option to download the SD version and it does not appear that I can go back now and do so.  Any help?

HD videos, whether 720p or 1080p, will not play on an iPod classic. Previously when buying HD versions of shows you automatically also received the SD version, but now only the HD copy will automatically download now (probably due to requests from people who don't need/want the SD version and complained about it being forced on them). The SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select TV shows. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the shows and be able to download them.
    Regards.

  • True Widescreen Video on iPod Classic

Hi there, I have a new iPod classic and I've just put some videos on it. They are widescreen videos and they even show up as widescreen pics on their little thumbnails in the iPod's list of videos. However when I play them they are stretched to fit the screen and everyone's faces etc are stretched vertically.
The 'Fit to Screen' option is OFF. Toggling the 'Widescreen' option on or off doesn't change anything either.
The only reason I can think is that these are true widescreen videos, i.e. they are not letterboxed into a 4:3 ratio with black bars; they are actually in a 16:9 ratio with no black bars. Could it be that the iPod needs them to be letterboxed...?
    Please help
    Thanks,
    Josh

I think your guess is correct. In my very limited endeavors into converting video for my iPod, that 16:9 was some bad news. When I was using ImToo to convert, I did have to have it set to letterbox. Now I use Videora. When I was using ImToo and things went wrong with 16:9 letterbox, there was nothing to be done but re-convert from the original file in a stochastic process hoping to stumble on a proper aspect. Now I just use settings for Videora I found on the net and took me thinking right out of the equation! Since that isn't an option for you I'm afraid you'll have to suffer it or reacquire from a new source. However, I may be wrong. I am not all that knowledgeable. I just didn't want you to go unanswered and thought I'd share my limited experience.
