QuickTime VR on iPhone

Hi,
I am a fan of 360 QTVR Panoramas and I would like to enjoy the "virtual reality" also on my new iPhone. Is there a way to watch the QuickTime Panoramas on the iPhone 3G?
Thanks for any help!

Unfortunately there is no way to play the Apple invention QTVR on the iPhone or iPodTouch. QTVR is an almost "forgotten" feature in Apple, although very popular on thousands of websites in the world. Popularity is increasing. Interactive panoramas are getting especially more popular since good flashplayers are able to substitute the quicktime player. But again both QTVR and FLASH are NONOs on iPhone up to now.
But the opening of the SDK for the iPhone brought some geniuses on the plan, like Brian Greenstone of Pangea Inc., a known company for "gamers". He developed PangeaVR as free app in the Apple app store.
It is a panorama player with very smooth panning. Have a look on a demo video of an iphone

  • Quicktime cannot play iPhone 4S movies

I recorded a couple videos on my new 4S and when I try to copy them to my XP laptop or play them in Quicktime, I get the following error:
"Error -2048: Couldn't open the file IMG_0001[1].MOV because it is not a file that Quicktime understands"
These videos play back fine on my phone. If I open my iPhone folder in Windows Explorer, I can right click the file properties and see that the files are around 1 meg each. However, if I try to copy the files to another folder or to my desktop, the resulting file is listed as 0mb and is unrecognized by the PC or Quicktime.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Glen

I think I have figured out that this is an XP issue. The moves download and play fine on my wife's Vista laptop.

  • Saving quicktime movies onto iphone

i apologize if this has been discussed before...
how do i get my quicktime movies (from digital cameras, movie clips, internet clips, etc...) onto my iphone? do they have to be in mpeg4 format first, then drag them over to 'movies' on itunes, which will then sync with the iphone?
if that's the case, then how do i, for example, save an .avi file as an mpg4 file?
it would be nice to be able to see your own movies (not just the ones you buy on itunes) on your iphone...
    thanks!

Assuming your movies can open in Quicktime, go to the 'File' menu and choose 'Export.' In there, click on the drop-down menu next to 'Export' and choose 'Movie to iPod' and click on 'Save.'
Once the movie is fully exported, drag the exported movie into iTunes. From there, you can sync it with your iPhone.

  • Using Quicktime in 3G iPhone

I have a new 3G iPhone and have tried repeatedly to download "Quicktime" on to it as many of my email attachments are in Quicktime. When I download it, I get a note that says "Congratulations - you now have Quicktime" but I can't find it and the attachments I have in Qt will not open.
Can anyone offer any suggestions. I assume it should work, as Qt is an Apple product.

The only files that can be downloaded to your iPhone are from the App Store and iTunes Store. Other files on the net cannot be downloaded using Safari.
Only videos in iPhone-supported formats can be viewed.

  • FCP quicktime "iphone "export diff then quicktime "export for iphone web"??

so what i dont get, is when i export out of quicktime using "export for web" and i choose the "iphone" 900 kbit option, i get 480X270 beautiful true widescreen clips. But when I export using quicktime conversion in final cut pro 6 and i choose" iphone"....i get 480X360. Why does this happen? I want true widescreen, just like everything i get from itunes.....not this 360 size (which i know is the phones screen res, but who cares)?

Earlybird is exporting H264 ... the Key Frames setting is determining the GOP length. This value should really be determined based on the complexity of the video, to my understanding, the actual frame rate has no bearing on it. If you have very complex fast moving content then a low Key Frame rate is advisable to ensure good image quality (although it will adversely affect the filesize) whereas if you have slow moving or static content (like an interview subject) then a higher Key Frame rate will still produce a good image but at a smaler filesize. The default of 24 should be pretty much fine as a catchall starting point.
    Earlybird
Corrupted render files (and render references) can be a pain because FCP will use those files and references  in place of the original media when building the export. And so it should as it does't want to waste time re-rendering sections that are apparently already rendered. Unfortuantely, as noted, if the render file has gone bad and/or starts referencing the wrong media then you'll get these wierd flashes of completely unexpeced and unwanted footage showing up where it shouldn't be. When you trash those files then QT / FCP will just go back and re-reference the original media ... so it's usually a worthwhile step to take just in case thats the problem.  The worse case scenario is that it only that doesn't work and you spend some time unecessarily re-rendering.
As to why these files go bad? That I don't know. Why do Preferences get corrupted? That I don't know either but it definitely happens :-(
    Cheers

  • Best quicktime format for iPhone

    Hi,
There seems to be lots of tips and tech notes, but what is the best setting to use from within Quicktime Pro to Export movies to the iPhone?
The tech notes give all all the H264 options but some of those settings will result in quite large files.
So whats the optimum settings given the iPhone screen size?
Or does iTunes convert supported movie types when it syncs?
    Thanks
    Eric

FWIW, here's what I use (and I am happy with the results even when I use the component out cables to a 38" screen TV):
    1) 640 resolution (the height will vary depending on widescreen or 4:3). 480 is all the iPhone will display, but it will output a higher resolution so I use this because I often output to a larger device from the iPhone.
    2) Data rate around 1000K. The iPhone will do higher (up to 1500) but the file sizes increase and I don't see a jump in quality.
Then use MP4 with H264 and single pass and you should end up with about 1gb per 2 hour movie, which is a very nice size (you can easily store 6 or 7 movies on the iPhone at one time).
Keep the frame rate the same as source.

  • Quicktime Streaming Server & iPhone?

I am trying to put together a set of components & process I would need in order to stream a live video feed to an iPhone. I would like to pass the live stream to a Quicktime Streaming Server and then out to the iPhone.
Has anyone done a similar set up? What is necessary to achieve this? Would a VBrick H.264 encoder box be able to stream to the Quicktime Streaming Server? Are there any other standalone hardware boxes to do this? I don't want to use a standalone computer to take the live feed in, I want to use some sort of portable video encoding box.
    Thanks!
    Chris

I'm sorry to say, but at the moment there is no out-of-the-box way of doing this. The iPhone doesn't support the QuickTime streaming protocol and Apple is working on supporting a different standard (http streaming). So, unless you want to write your own iPhone live video player app, you are going to have to wait.

  • Wmv and quicktime attachments in iphone 4

Hi, If someone sends me an email with either a .wmv or quicktime video, how on earth do I open it?????

Just found a free one that works beautifully. It's called OPlayer. It's a standard iPhone app, and the free version works fine. The first time you play a video from email, you'll likely have to select OPlayer. After that, it shows up automagically. Once in the OPlayer, the video is in the "My Documents" file location, under Inbox (at least that's what it did for me).
Above was with a .wmv - haven't had a chance to test it with an avi or other format.
    Hope it works for you!

  • Converting QuickTime Videos to iPhone Videos

I have some videos I watch with QuickTime on my iMac. Is there a way to convert them so I can watch them on my iPhone?

Thanks for the info. I did what you said and then synched my iPhone to my iMac, but I can't find them on my iPhone. I'm looking at videos in the iPod app, but there's nothing there. Should I be looking somewhere else? Thanks.

  • Quicktime and the iPhone 3g

I get a lot of email attachments that are in the "Quicktime" format and can't open them on my iPhone. I tried downloading QT to my iPhone and that doesn't seem to work. I thought that since Quicktime was an Apple product there was surely some way to run it on my iPhone. Is there perhaps an app that will convert QT to something that I can open??
    Any ideas???
    Big John

Quicktime is already installed on your iPhone, the issue you have is that the files you are getting are not in a format that can be played on the iPhone. here are size and encoding limits due to the size of the screen and the processor in the iPhone.

  • When I use Quicktime on my iphone 4S, it stops playing when screen locks now that I updated to iOS 7.  Is there a fix for this?

I am utilizing a radio station app while doing this.  It used to work before the upgrade.  I could listen all day long, but know when the screen locks or when I hit the home button the station stops.

You'll need to check on the web portal for the email provider as to whether they use POP, IMAP or both.
If you are using POP, that protocol isn't designed for access from more than one device.
The default behaviour for POP is to delete the messages from the server once the email has been downloaded to a PC. IMAP stores everything on the server and the client just caches a copy.

  • Problem using QuickTime for iPhone

    Hi Everybody,
I am a developer and i program an application for the iPhone. I want to know if it is possible to block the controller in the Quicktime player for iPhone ?
I use the embed code with the "<param name='controller' value='false'>" but the controller is always here.
I want to stream a video, where the user can't paused the video.
    Can you help me ?
    Thanks a lot

I had this same problem and solved it when I realized that the software upgrade download was about 600MB, but I had less free space available on the iPhone.
So I deleted some large music files to make space available, then started the upgrade again and it worked fine.
One caveat: since I had "Automatically fill free space with songs" checked in iTunes, under the iPhone "Music" tab, simply deleting songs from the iPhone's playlist did not clear up the space.  Other songs got loaded to fill up the space.  I had to uncheck "Automatically fill free space with songs" as well as delete songs in order to free up the space.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone doesn't have QuickTime?

So recently my girlfriend got an iPhone and she says it doesn't havw QuickTime is there a way to get QuickTime on her iPhone?

But she says she needs Quicktime to watch a video or listen to a song on the net.
It depends what format the QuickTime file is in. The iPhone doesn't have QuickTime as such (like the desktop player), but it does support many filetypes that QuickTime also supports.
    The iPhone supports the following:
Audio formats supported: AAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), HE-AAC, MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, 4, Audible Enhanced Audio, AAX, and AAX+), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV
Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
If the video or audio is in any other format on your computer, then she's out of luck. You may be able to download the media file, convert it to a supported format, and the sync it to the iPhone for viewing.
