Quicktime vs Mobileme

movies will not play when I log into mobileme account Gallery. get the QT logo and a "?" with the spinning wheel. After spending many hours with MobileMe Support comes down to a problem with QT and Apple is aware. Problem won't be fixed until QT update comes out.
Anyone have the same problem? Any news?

+time of the file? 2 min+
+Your file contains no audio compression.? And what is your point?+
+If you are going to help you need to ask more specific question. Your email sounds like critisism not help.+
My original question was why does quicktime not play my movies which it use to play on my MobileMe site. This occurred after updating to SL.

  • QT to MobileMe: "The request timed out"

I am unable to upload a video from QuickTime to MobileMe. It says the request timed out.
The video was shot using a iPhone 3GS, then saved with iPhoto and opened with QuickTime.
I go to Share -> MobileMe Gallery.
The video is a little bit over 10 mins, 268Mb.
    Thanks.

Add me to the list. 76MB .mov file, I also asked it to same an iPod/iPhone version. (Mine was a slideshow exported from Aperture 3 as 720p HD, then opened in QuickTime X to "Share." Sharing starts with about 12 minutes.

  • Final Cut Pro monitor gamma question... again!

Very confused here: can anyone tell me for sure what gamma my Cinema Display needs to be set to for work with FCP7 / Snow Leopard? I can only find contradictory information and nothing clear and conclusive from Apple.
My problem: following the latest advice, I've been using a Cinema Display calibrated to 2.2 (dual monitors on a Macbook Pro). I can export an edited file which matches FCP's canvas when viewed in QuickTime.
However, if I send to Compressor from FCP, the preview in Compressor is darker and more contrasty than FCP's canvas.
If I upload a video that looks OK in QuickTime to MobileMe it becomes dark and contrasty too.
If I convert my exported file that looked OK in QuickTime to H.264 in Mpeg Streamclip I, once again, get a version that is darker and more contrasty than in FCP or QuickTime.
I'm pulling my hair out over this, not least because it's becoming a fantastic waste of time. I would like to be concentrating on editing rather than trying to sort this out!
I had assumed that using a suite of Apple applications on an Apple computer would mean seamless and easy integration...

But the problem here is not simply viewing. I am also creating and then viewing and I think this is where the problem lies. A video uploaded to MobileMe is transformed in the process and it's during the transformation (whatever that might be) that the change in appearance occurs. I view a video in FCP's canvas but then it is exported before being viewed in QuickTime. Gamma levels may be set, colour profiles embedded and / or read, applications may make assumptions about viewing conditions or which of the two monitors I'm using is the principal one, who knows what... I think it's here that the problem lies...

  • New iTunes update gave me 2 viruses?

Not sure whats going on but while i was installing the new update for iTunes, Quicktime, and mobileme my anti-virus freaked out and says i new have 2 Trojan horse droppers on my computer. Anyone know anything about this? Help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

Nothing has been said because it is extremely unlikely that you picked up a virus from the iTunes update. It is common for some anti-virus software to issue false alerts. This has happened in the past with some iTunes updates (and updates for other programs as well). The anti-virus software will sometimes mistake perfectly valid update files for viruses and issue the false alarms.
I saw in another post of yours that you are using AVG. That is likely the problem. AVG has a really bad habit of issuing false alerts like this. To be honest, you might want to upgrade to anti-virus software from a more reliable company.

  • My iTunes won't open for some reason.

So for some reason my iTunes will not openm, I've clicked the shortcut, gone to the location, opened as a dmin, and still nothing. I've re-installed it plenty times, and still nothing. I have no absolute idea what is wrong. Maybe it's Quicktime or mobileme, but someone please help. I run Windows 7 64bit.

Try following steps one at a time:
    1. Check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    2. If you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
Then, repair your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

  • I'm Having Problem Restoring my iPod

Ok so my one day I tried to put songs into my iPod Touch - 32GB
Then it keepsgetting an error something about sync.
I've been checking the forums and people say that the best way is to
restore your iPod. First what i did was reset my Unit then connected it to Pc
With itunes on it says that 'iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "iPod Touch" Go to the Summary tab in iPod Preferences and click restore to Restore it to it's factory Settings.'
(When it doesn't contain anythinig at all why cant it read contents? Lol)
Then When I tried to restore I keep getting Connection error everytime the download is 100%.
So then I tried manual restore, meaning I downloaded an ipsw restore file for the latest update.
5.1.1 9B206. Then It started extracting it was going good until it reaches 'Preparing to restore iPod' Then an Error came up.
Something about failing to restore because an unknown error Occured. Error 2005.
Now before I goe here, which is my last resort. I've done everything possibly that people posted here and everywhere else.
    *I've reinstalled iTunes
*I made sure iTunes is on latest verion. 10.6
*I removed every usb jacks except mouse and keyboard.
*I tried using the back USB ports.
*I removed everything, itunes, quicktime and mobileme and Reinstalled them.
    *Restarted alot of times.
    NOTHING SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED.
my iPod is working fine it's just that I cant place anything with it in iTunes. (As stated above sync problems.)
That's why im restoring it. Til now its working fine just really cant restore any sync it.

    Welcome to Apple Communities.
You can restore your device in it. Go to Settings > General > Restore > Erase All Content and Settings

  • Final Cut Pro 7, Compressor, or Quicktime X do not recognize MobileMe

I'm having issues uploading my movies from Final Cut Pro, Compressor, or Quicktime X to MobileMe. For both FCP and QT X, when I "Share" using MobileMe, it says that either my Username or Password is wrong. I know for a fact it's not because I can use them to login here or on iTunes. It worked before, but now after I did a Pro Application software update, it doesn't let me. I'm not certain that's the direct problem, though. When I try with Compressor, it just tells me it failed uploading.
I tried using both "username" and "[email protected]"
If I use "[email protected]" it says there is some sharing error which I never heard about.
How can I fix this problem, or is anyone else also experiencing this bug?
BTW, every thing else works fine.
    Thank you.

Have you tried the full login including "@me.com or @mac.com"? This seems to work as far as FCP or compressor "recognizing" the MobileMe account. Yet when I do it through compressor, even though it says the job is done and all is well it never actually uploads it to MobileMe. It seems to work fine through FCP though.

  • Share movie from Quicktime X to MobileMe Gallery with password protection?

Is it possible to share a movie using "Share" -> "MobileMe Gallery" with userid/password protection like from iPhoto or iMovie.
I can share it from Quicktime X to MobileMe but the movie is 'public' on my gallery.
    Thanks,

Not with QuickTime X (at this time).
Use iPhoto to make a "private" Gallery page.

  • Can't play videos in MobileMe using IE7 and QuickTime 7.6.8

I am running Windows XP SP3, and have installed QuickTime 7.6.8. When I try to view a video in MobileMe that was created by a relative, I get a message saying that I need to have QuickTime 7.2 installed, and the video will not play. In fact, I have QuickTime 7.6.8 installed, so I don't know why I am getting this error message. I have looked in Internet Explorer add-ons, and there are no add-ons listed from Apple under the "currently loaded" tab. The QTPlugin.ocx is listed in the "add-ons that have been used" tab. Oddly enough (or not), the same video plays fine in Firefox, and looking at the add-ons in Firefox, it does list the QuickTime Plugin 7.6.8 that IE7 does not list.
Would really appreciate any help in resolving this! Thanks!

Are you able to open the QuickTime Player, rick? If so, does it tell you your QuickTime is out of date too (even though you've got a 7.6.8 installed)?

  • After installing the Quicktime 7.6 Plug-in all my MobileMe Gallery movies display upside down

This issue is only in FF 4.0.
I have a 2010 Intel iMac with Mac OS 10.6.7.
I create an iMovie, upload to MobileMe Gallery, a window opens asking if I'd like to 'View' the new movie, I click 'View'.
After opening my MME Gallery in FF4.0 my movie is displayed and plays upside down and backwards. All my other movies (48 of them) are also the same.
After discussions with Apple MME Support I find that my movies are displayed properly in my 'logged in' area only, when I try to play any Gallery movie it becomes upside down/backwards.
I finally gave up troubleshooting and re-installed FF 3.6.16 and everything is as it should be.

  • ITunes wont open - Quicktime issue

Ive tryed to reinstall itunes at least half a dozen times now and nothing will fix this issue. If i try to open itunes, the process (in task manager) starts but gets to about 38000K then nothing, never opens no matter how long i wait. Im unable to end this process either, so it just sits there taking up memory. Following the advice of someone else in another thread i tryed changing the compatability of quicktime and itunes to windows 2000 and this gave me the error message that "quicktime is required to run itunes" despite the fact that i do have it installed. Reinstalling both itunes and quicktime have no effect on the problem, does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello BaconSquishy.
First thing I would do is turn compatibility mode off if you have it on for iTunes and Quicktime. As this will not really fix anything except under rare and special conditions.
Next thing I would do is Basic uninstall in the following order. And installation in the following order. If this does not work proceed to last link below for assistance.
Uninstall the following Apple Applications in the following order.
Launch Control Panel and open Add/Remove Programs or Programs and features if you have Vista.
    -Apple Mobile Device Support
    -Apple Software Update
    -Bonjour
-Windows iPod Updater (Name might be different but look for anything with the word iPod)
    -MobileME Control Panel
    -Quicktime
    -iTunes
    *Now reboot the computer
-Download and install Quicktime Standalone. There will be 2 options. Click the Quicktime Standalone
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
-Download and install iTunes once Quicktime is installed
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
*Launch iTunes. Depending on the speed of your machine. Give it 4 min tops to load. Should not take that long. Pay close attention to fire wall alert messages as they might be looking for approval to launch the App.
*If you still can not launch it check the link below

  • Screen Sharing and MobileMe

    Hi There,
I have a problem, I have a MobileMe account, as does my brother who is currently at university in the US, Im working out of an Apple Mac Pro that is going into a BeBox Speedtouch. Typically, when i'm at work i can connect via 'Back to My Mac' and see my screen's fine.
However, i'm have a nightmare trying to screen share anyone else, video and audio chat works fine, i've tried the two methods with the quicktime streaming and setting unlimited to ichat video streaming. The Connection doctor says i can share my screen and control others, and no error logs pop up when it fails.
Is this a port forwarding thing? could this possibly be a block on behalf of my brothers university connection? some help would be excellent, and some details on exactly how to port-forward would be nice too.
Again any solution would fantastic, i have a mildly mac illiterate brother over there who needs your help!

    Hi Luke,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
The Speedtouch modem is the issue.
When you do a Screen Share in iChat it also has a Audio Chat with it.
Both Video and Audio Only chats require that the modem handles SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) correctly to connect the two ends in a successful chat.
Speedtouch Devices made by Thomson-Alcatel do what is called "Binding" of SIP to port 5060
BeBox do not appear in this list as a potential for them doing their own firmware for the modem.
This is fine for VoIP Apps and phone (Voice over Internet).
However many ISPs now block port 5060 used for SIP to make you pay more for VoIP services (they lost out on Long Distance telephone charges when VoIP took Off)
This has meant that people need to move SIP to Different ports (Apple moved iChat to port 16402 as first choice in iChat 4
(there was an international standard for 4 ports (5060-5063) originally but the Binding messes up using the other three as well even if they are not Blocked by the ISP)
Up until Version 5 Firmware on Thomson-Alcatels you could Fully Unbind the Default setting. (Last working firmware was 4.2.7)
Since then the Binding can only partly be done and we are now up to something like Version 7 of the Fimware
See here This starts with Unbinding for Version 4 and tells you how version 5 and 6 could be partially done (Same instructions, different format)
Doing the partial unbinding may give you about 5 more successful Buddies in Version 5 and 6 firmware which may include the person you want. But out of a average of 50 Buddies having only 15 you can Video Or Audio Chat to is not acceptable.
The only exception I know to this is the BT Home Hub. BT (Formerly British Telecom) now write the firmware for their branded box themselves.
As a separate issue the Modem should be using UPnP to open the ports to allow the Screen Sharing to work as the actual port used is random (the alongside Audio Chat still needs SIP allowed and port 16402)
I see from this Download page that BeBox only offer Thomson-Alcatels and none of those on Show are back at version 4 firmware.
You would have to see if they will allow you to have your own purchased modem.

  • 9.1.0.79 update, iTunes/QuickTime.

This update came in today (6th April 2010), here in Ireland.
Please note that I am neither an iPod nor iPhone user. My only portable devices are BlackBerry and Nokia. My only static comp is XP.
During the update, the application looked for a file for "MobileMe" somewhere under Documents and Settings and failed. I let it try again. Failed. So I clicked "Cancel" and the update continued to conclusion satisfactorily.
Immediately afterwards, I was asked to instal "MovileMe". I agreed. The installation (very quick) succeeded. However, when then I exit-ed, I was asked again to instal it. I agreed. Same result. So I quitted.
I assume "MobileMe" is an application for use with an iPhone or iPod e.g. for contacts synchronisation, back-ups, etc. Can anyone confirm this?
If so, why does iTunes/QuickTime look to update an application I do not have and then seek to give it to me when I have no Apple portable device registered? Is this an omission in the update's configuration? Or, is there a means whereby I can register that I do not use these products and so should not be offered updates for their desktop partner applications?
To conclude, I find iTunes a very worthwhile device for downloading music. However, any update installation glitch is always a source of anxiety!

As regards preference items, do you mean something like this: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\nb.lproj\DevicePrefsMobileMe.nib?
No, those ones are program files ... language resource files, although I'm not sure off the top of my head what language the nb.lproj folders/files relate to.
The preference files are stored in the following two main areas on XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\
(Where username is the name of an XP user account ... so if you've say got three user accounts on the PC and everyone uses iTunes, there will be iTunes preferences files in six locations in total, because there's an iTunes preferences folder in each of those locations in a user account.)
Still not sure what the installer was looking for in there ... I've got a MobileSync pref folder at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync
... but that's not quite the same thing.
Ah well, if iTunes is playing fine, I suppose we can take it as a good sign that nothing too peculiar was afoot with the installation mesage ...

  • After publishing I can no longer see the poster frame on QuickTime

I cant figure out why after publishing to the web (MobileMe), I can no longer see the poster frame on the QuickTime movie that I made. When I publishing to a folder on the mac to check my results I can see the poster frame, so it is only happening when i am publishing to the web. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or have a solution?
    Thanks
    Chris

You cannot delete this icon as its preinstalled on the iPhone. You may have inadvertently moved it to another page or into a folder. I would suggest you look on all the pages and in all folders or alternatively do a search on your iPhone. It will at least tell you if they are still there but unfortunately not where. You could also do a home screen layout reset settings>general>reset>reset home screen layout.
