Quicktime will not install on my PC - also stopping iTunes from working

Quicktime and iTunes will not install on my Vista SP 1 PC, Whenever I try to install either I get the following error message;
Quicktime - "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
iTunes - "The installation of Quicktime did not complete successfully. iTunes requires Quicktime."
From my iTunes error message I hope that by correcting the Quicktime error the iTunes should in turn be fixed.
I am using the latest installers for each and I can't understand why this is happening,
I have tried completely removing my old version of Quicktime and tried to copy my other PC's Quicktime folder into this one however that has not worked. I have also tried using the latest installers multiple times however I always get the same error message.
Please help me fix this error where Quicktime can't install,
Thanks
James

Says windows install package does not operate yet I can install other programs.
What's the precise text of the message, please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

I have looked at other topics related to the problems i am having about installing iTunes and quicktime. Nothing seems to work. I have completely uninstalled everything i could find regarding itunes and quicktime. Then attempted to reinstall them. I have tried installing quicktime first, this doesn't work. I have also tried installing both together, and this does not work either. I live in Canada and have a compaq presario computer with windows XP. I dont see the problem here.
When trying to install itunes + quicktime it will continue through the entire process successfully then a message will appear right before comletion reading "HKEYLOCALMACHINE/software/classes/quicktime.quicktime/CLSID. Verify that your have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel." .... then it will roll back action and nothing is installed....
I just purchased a new iPod Nano, and it told me to upgrade my version of iTunes..... and as you can see i simply can not. If anyone has an idea of what to do in my situation please respond and inform me on what i can do.

not sure about your problem but i managed to fix mine
i restored my computer to back a few days ago (before i started messing about with it) this did work so i had to start in safe mode to do it.
after this i manually uninstalled QT and itunes from the add/remove programs section in the control panel. Then i downloaded the installer clean-up program from microsoft and deleted all remaining QT and itunes files, after this all installations worked fine.
i hope this can help you out also.

    windows installer has stopped working
a problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is avabilable.

Head into your Windows Update. Are there any new updates available for you? If so, and you install, does that clear up the error message?

  • QuickTime Will Not Install

I downloaded QuickTime 7.5.5 from Apple.com and I tried to install the program. I got through all the installation windows except for the last one. The status bar that shows how much of the program has installed and how much longer the installation process should take stops at 86% and 85%. The time remaining maintains a "less than a minute" notification but, it never finishes. I let the installation try to continue for roughly 20 minutes but, no luck. I will probably call for support on this problem, but I didn't know if anyone else ran into this problem, or if anyone knows how to fix this. I don't use QuickTime all that much, but I do use iTunes a lot and it appears that the newest version of iTunes (8.0) will not open without the latest QuickTime.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Hi QandAknowit(noquite)all and welcome to the forums!
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

  • Quicktime will not install - no errors or notices

    Hi,
I am trying to install iTunes + Quicktime off of the cd I received with my iPod 5G. I am using Windows XP. It allows me to install the ipod for windows software, then itunes, but when it tries to install Quicktime, the progress bar will continuously loop, i.e. it will make it to 100%, then go back down to 0% and start all over again. It does not give me any errors. I formerly had a 1608 error, but I solved that by typing ("C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32\IDriver.exe" -Embedding) into the "Run" dialog box in the start menu. I have tried installing an older version of quicktime (Version 6), which worked, but the installer would still try to install over it, leading to the loop problem.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help

I am having the same problem as you. I tried to install itunes 6.0 on my windows 2000 machine with sp4. It goes through part of the installshield wizard setup and then the install window minimizes and after that nothing happens. There are no error messages either. I have tried the following...
    1) Install itunes from my new Ipod CD.
    2) Install itunes from a download from apple website.
    3) Install itunes 5.0 which didnt work either and gave me the same error
    4) Install an older version (4.9) of itunes which worked but is not compatible with my new IPOD
I have the latest updates for my windows. PLEASE HELP

  • Itunes/quicktime will not install

I am trying to udgrade my intunes to the newest version (7.34) to add music to my 2nd genertaion ipod nano. The installer will not even open giving the error message of invalid drive J:/. I already tried changing my ipod's drvie letter to (k) but it still shows the error message ivalid drive J:/.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you

You obviously don't need 7.3 or 7.4 for 2nd gen Nano.
It seems your system's temporary directory setting has been messed up so that the installer cannot unstuff itself.

  • ITunes and Quicktime WILL NOT install no matter what!

After downloading QuickTime with iTunes, I keep getting this error:
"An exception occurred while trying to run m"C\Widows\system32\shell32.dll,Cotrol_RunDLL "C\
    Windows\system32\QuickTime.cpl",QuickTime
iTunes won't install, QuickTime won't install, Customer support doesn't know what to tell me---
Has anyone else had this problem-- and better yes, does anyone know how to fix this? My laptop is about 6 months old, running Windows XP Media Edition. (Big sigh)

    Deal Emalve,
Try change the path from C: to any other directory and then install..
    Hope that works out.

  • Your current updates are causing problems and will not install correctly how do we stop it

the security update you currently have causes problems with other software and does not install at all. Current corrections the entire pc has to be set back to a restore date to remove it

    Hi;
I apologize about your not being able to reply to my response in the Payments sub-forum, thanks for re-posting here.
I forwarded your issue to a Support team that will take care of it.  If you could send me a good contact phone # via email to [email protected] I will give that to the Support team so they have a few ways to contact you.  Please also include the AdobeID for both accounts so they know what all to look at.

  • Installing iTunes updates stops iTunes from working in Windows 8.1

Last year after installing Windows 8.1 I had problems with iTunes ( couldn't burn to disc and could not uninstall after being advised by Apple Support that uninstalling was the solution), after assistance from the Windows community my problem was solved. I installed iTunes 12.1, I believe it was.
Then in early January 2015 I received  an update notification and installed it but again started getting error messages and could not run iTunes, error was  -
"ITunes.exe - entry Point not found"
The procedure entry point "ADadPolicyEngine_DidEnterStation" Could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\iTunes\iTunes.dll.
    Then the message
ITunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes
    Error 7 (Windows error 127)
Part of last years solution was the correct procedure to uninstall iTunes (remove all Apple programs) this I followed again and reinstalled iTunes. It again worked correctly until 30.1.15. I opened iTunes and was told there was  a newer version available which I installed which it completed ok but then it checked for any other updates and foolishly I installed it and got the error message -
GNSDK_MANAGER_DLL. is missing from your computer reinstall
After clicking ok I get the further message
ITunes was not installed correctly, reinstall
    Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Whilst I know how to uninstall and reinstall it is a bit of a pain to have to go through quite a long procedure to correct this problem. As this seems to be an ongoing problem does anyone know a solution ?
I believe the suggested update is the same (12.1) that I install from the iTunes site, so why does it tell me to update I ask .
It would appear that this problem relates to the update from iTunes and not Windows
Obviously not installing updates is an option but not the answer.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Quicktime will not install, uninstall, neither will itunes

i've tried to find the answer to my question on the forum and have even tried some of the suggestions, but to no avail.
i too received a new ipod nanp for christmas. i also have a 40GB ipod. i needed to install the new version of itunes, and subsequently quicktime, but no matter what i do i an receiving the message that there is a problem with the file "c:\ProgramFiles\QuickTime\PropertyPanels\PropPanelHelpers.Resources\nl.lproj
i am unable to install the new version, and i am unable to unstall the old version...
send me any suggestions you have.
    i'll try anything!
    thanks!

I had the exact same problem and the solution below from "b noir" resolved it. I cut and past from bnoir's post, and I don't know if the link to microsoft's window's cleanup utitlity will work. If not, just do a search on your topic is the disscussion groups. The solution was posted on October 6 (or the original question was posted --I'm new at this).
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.

  • Quicktime will not install with Polonizator

I have tried to install the newest quicktime update. The Software update preference panel did not show the update, but I downloaded it manually.
The installer says "Cannot install QuickTime on this volume. This software does not contain support for your system language".
Likewise the newest iTunes software says "You cannot install iTunes on this volume. You are not allowed to install the software on this disk for an unknown reason".
This is strange as the language preferences is set to American English.
It seems that the "Polonizator" Disk modifies the system software so that it becomes impossible to use the update mechanism in Mac OS X.
    Maybe file a bug ???

(Although that's about an iTunes install problem on 7 rather than QuickTime install problem on Vista, similar sorts of troubleshooting proicedures can apply in your circumstances too.)

  • Quicktime will not install because of it thinks there is a newer version already installed.

I don't even have QuickTime installed and it is telling me it cannot install because of a newer version already installed.  I have searched completely and found nothing.  I have Windows XP and am trying to install the latest version of QuickTime.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?
