Lets do a few things.

2. Open up QuickTime player.
3. Click on Edit> QuickTime Preferences>Advanced.
4. In the center of this section there is a "Video" section select Safe Mode.
5. Click on Ok and go ahead and close out of QuickTime.
I have also noted that there are SEVERAL bugs with QuickTime and Nvidia Chips.

  • Itunes will not open and quicktime will not update

selecting iTunes results in popup message; 'iTunes requires Quicktime 7.5.5 or later...', but QuickTime will not open.
    Control right-click did not help.

Wow, it looks like your software is very very old.
The current version of QuickTime is 10.3.  The current version of OS X is 10.9.1.  (Your profile indicates you are running OS X 10.5.8, Leopard.  Leopard was released in 2007.)
The current version of iTunes, 11.1.4, will not run on Leopard.
Anyway, it sounds as if all your software needs extensive upgrading.  You may be using a computer that is too old to run current software.

  • Quicktime Will Not Close Open Windows

After I record a video Quicktime refuses to close any windows from those recordings.  When the red X is clicked quicktime will lag out for a few seconds at the end of which the window has not been closed.  The only way to get the window to close is to quit Quicktime with the "Close windows when quitting an application" preference enabled in the System Preferences > General.  If this preference is not enabled, Quicktime will refuse to quit and the program must be Force Quit.
I've gone and done the usual troubleshooting steps like rebooting, deleting preferences, etc...  This does not solve this issue leading me to believe it's either a poorly thought out "feature" or a bug.  Unless there is some new paradigm of closing windows that I am not familiar with of closing window, thanks to Apple;s new paradigm of changing tried and true methodologies for new "simpler", "let us do that for you" ones, this is extremely annoying for someone who want to itterate through multiple video takes quickly without unnecessarily tieing up system resources.  If I make a video that I don't want I want to just trash it and be done with it.
Anyway, does anyone know if there is any way to fix this so that I don't have dozens of videos active?

For several months, iCloud updates will not install.  I get a 2343 error on my Windows 7 machine.  The iTunes updates work if I download and manually install.  This is not the case with iCloud.  I used the MS Fixit without success.  Can someone assist?

  • Quicktime will not work in Windows

For the past few months, I've experienced trouble with Quicktime. I would try to view a video on Apples website, and it would fizz out like a bad tv broadcast, then lockup saying there was an error, report, blah blah. I figured it was Apples website. Well today I tried to install a Total Training video, and when it searched for Quicktime, I got the same error, the program install locked up, and asked me to report the error, etc. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, no luck. Please help!

  • Cant update to iTunes 8.1, Quicktime will not update

I keep trying to update to iTunes 8.1, but every time i do the installer is unable to uninstall quicktime.
It computes the space requirements, then says "The older version of Quicktime cannot be removed" and then it quits.
I have tried to uninstall Quicktime using Windows Add and Remove Programs, but it says that the network resource i am trying to access is unavailiable. It then tells me i can try to locate an alternate path to 'quicktime.msi' but that hasnt worked.
How can i get it to update?
Do i have to remove quicktime file by file?
If not, what do i do?

It sounds as though you need to use the Microsoft Installer cleanup utility to clean up the Quicktime installer files. Here is a method for removal and clean up of iTunes, Quicktime etc:
    == uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
(To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install)
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • Quicktime will not install to Windows Vista "could not open key..."

I have been trying to install Quicktime for some time.
Get error message: "Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\9c430...... Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your local support personnel." The installer then rolls back.
I kept trying and was able to install QT, but it would not open. Error messagesaid something about a "side-by-side" configuration.
I am the only user/administrator of this pc. I have tried all troubleshooting steps on this website, including uninstalling all Apple software and all remnants.
I tried all troubleshooting steps. My next step is to re-install Windows.

  • ITunes 11.1.4 will not install properly - windows 8.1, 64 bit.  My only way to recover is to restore my system.  iTunes 11.1.3.8 functions properly.  When will Apply provide a workable update?

iTunes 11.1.4 will not install properly - windows 8.1, 64 bit.  The only way I have found to recover is to restore my system.  I have unistalled/reintalled iTunes two times.  No success.  iTunes 11.1.3.8 functions properly (following system restore).  When is Apply expected to provide a workable update?

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

  • QuickTime will not open (Windows 7 64-bit OS)

I have the latest version of iTunes with QuickTime installed. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes with QuickTime several times. iTunes opens fine, but QuickTime will not open. It used to open fine about a month ago, but will not now, I have no idea what changed on my computer to cause this problem. When I try to open it, the Quicktime icon appears at the bottom of the screen in the Windows 7 taskbar, but no window opens on the screen. I have a Windows 7 64-bit operating system. Has anyone seen this before or had any success correcting this problem? Thank you, Josh

When I try to open it, the Quicktime icon appears at the bottom of the screen in the Windows 7 taskbar, but no window opens on the screen
That's consistent with a QuickTime display preference gone bad, josh.
If that's what is afoot, rebuilding the QuickTime preferences can help, although it can be a bit of a trial to track them down on the 64-bit systems.
Close any of the QuickTime Player buttons that are currently in your taskbar.
Now we need to change some view settings on the PC. (The preferences are kept in hidden folders.)
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
    Click OK.
Next we'll navigate to your AppData folder.
In Computer, open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive your user documents are stored on.
    Open the "Users" folder.
Open the folder with the name of the Windows User account in which the QuickTime Player isn't displaying properly.
    Open the "AppData" folder.
Now the hunt for the QuickTime preferences begins.
    Open the "Roaming" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player.
*If there was no QuickTime folder in \Roaming\Apple Computer\, or if the QuickTime Player still isn't displaying properly*
Quit any QuickTime player buttons in the Taskbar.
Go back into the "AppData" folder.
    Open the "Local" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player.
*If there was no QuickTime folder in \Local\Apple Computer\, or if the QuickTime Player still isn't displaying properly*
Quit any QuickTime player buttons in the Taskbar.
Go back into the "AppData" folder.
    Open the "LocalLow" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player.
Any of those measures help with the display problem?
