Can you start QuickTime on your computer?
You'll probably have to search for the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and use it to remove QuickTime Player and iTunes. Then download and install the iTunes again.

  • QuickTime will not open (Windows 7 64-bit OS)

I have the latest version of iTunes with QuickTime installed. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes with QuickTime several times. iTunes opens fine, but QuickTime will not open. It used to open fine about a month ago, but will not now, I have no idea what changed on my computer to cause this problem. When I try to open it, the Quicktime icon appears at the bottom of the screen in the Windows 7 taskbar, but no window opens on the screen. I have a Windows 7 64-bit operating system. Has anyone seen this before or had any success correcting this problem? Thank you, Josh

When I try to open it, the Quicktime icon appears at the bottom of the screen in the Windows 7 taskbar, but no window opens on the screen
That's consistent with a QuickTime display preference gone bad, josh.
If that's what is afoot, rebuilding the QuickTime preferences can help, although it can be a bit of a trial to track them down on the 64-bit systems.
Close any of the QuickTime Player buttons that are currently in your taskbar.
Now we need to change some view settings on the PC. (The preferences are kept in hidden folders.)
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
    Click OK.
Next we'll navigate to your AppData folder.
In Computer, open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive your user documents are stored on.
    Open the "Users" folder.
Open the folder with the name of the Windows User account in which the QuickTime Player isn't displaying properly.
    Open the "AppData" folder.
Now the hunt for the QuickTime preferences begins.
    Open the "Roaming" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player.
*If there was no QuickTime folder in \Roaming\Apple Computer\, or if the QuickTime Player still isn't displaying properly*
Quit any QuickTime player buttons in the Taskbar.
Go back into the "AppData" folder.
    Open the "Local" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player.
*If there was no QuickTime folder in \Local\Apple Computer\, or if the QuickTime Player still isn't displaying properly*
Quit any QuickTime player buttons in the Taskbar.
Go back into the "AppData" folder.
    Open the "LocalLow" folder.
    Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Do you see a "QuickTime" folder in there? If so, drag that out onto the Desktop. Now try launching the QuickTime Player.
Any of those measures help with the display problem?

  • Why are the options for "When Firefox starts" NOT clickable in Firefox 5? I want to choose "Windows and tabs that where opened last time you accessed the net" but Firefox won't let me.

In the previous version of Firefox one could choose to save tabs so that when Firefox opened, all the tabs from the previous sessions appeared. This was done in Settings > Options > General > Startup. In the menu for the "When Firefox Starts" one had the option for "Windows and tabs that where opened last time you accessed the net." in Firefox 5.0, this menu is gray and not clickable. Help, please?

''Why are the options for "When Firefox starts" NOT clickable in Firefox 5?"
Possibly you are not saving your "browsing history" which is what the session history is tied into.
'''Not saving History''' -- check your settings for '''Tools > options > Privacy'''', make sure you are not clearing more than just cache in "Settings for Clearing History"
    * http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4928/clearcachew.png
    * clearing your history at end of session, cache is the only one you would want to clear at end of session, if you don't want to lose things
There are several things that are related to private browsing and not saving History
    * Private Browsing Ctrl+Shift+P
    * You selected "Never remember history" in first drop-down of Tools > Options Privacy and all of the check marks disappear (See picture above)
    * "Permanent private browsing mode" was check-marked under "Use custom settings for history" in the first drop-down of Tools > options > Privacy (see picture above)

  • ITunes and Quicktime will not launch

I cannot get my iTunes or Quicktime to launch. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, upgraded, and tried several fixes that I found on this discussion board. No Luck! I'm using XP Pro SP3. When I first installed iTunes, it worked, but then quit working about 4 weeks later. I'm using the latest versions of both iTunes and Quicktime.

The error message you are getting suggests that you do have one of the problem codec packs installed on your system or you have had in the past.
Quicktime does not install Quicktime.cpl in the system32 directory.
It is possible that one of them was installed without you knowing with other software, I think Storm may get installed with other things although I can't name anything.
You must look for the things on my list and uninstall them if you find them. Check in Add/Remove programs to see if there is an entry there.
When you have uninstalled the problem items go on to the next stage. If you can't find anything you had better go on as well.
Download the stand alone Quicktime (the one without iTunes):
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Now Remove Quicktime using the method in this article (just Quicktime):
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart you computer
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check if it starts.
If it does you are in a position to find out if iTunes is OK.

  • ITunes and Quicktime will not load

Hi, when i try and load my iTunes, it will not load. It has been working fine for months, but has recently stopped!
When i try and load iTunes, i am given the standard Windows "iTunes has encountered a problem" screen with the error message of:
    Error Signature
    AppName: itunes.exe
    AppVer: 6.0.0.3
    ModName: quicktimeStreamingAuthoring.QTX
    ModVer: 7.0.3.50
    OffSet: 00016cb9
So i "Repaired" iTunes, which didnt fix the problem, i uninstalled it, which also didnt fix it.
Then i decided to try and uninstall Quicktime, due to it being the root of the problem, and i was greeted with this error:
    Error Description
    DLL function call crashed
    QTInstallCode.QuickTimeUninstallPrc
Any ideas on what is the problem, and how to fix it?! Because i cannot install a new quicktime whilst this one is still on my computer, and i cant get it off!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Matt

Okay... I'm waiting for this answer too!! Exact problem...was working fine now I get the "Itunes has encountered a problem...." I attempted to run Quicktime (it is needed, I understand) but now it will not run. I uninstalled all (could not even find Quicktime) and attempted to reinstall. Itunes apparently reinstalled but Quicktime will not... and now nothing is running.

  • Quicktime will not install on my PC - also stopping iTunes from working

    Quicktime and iTunes will not install on my Vista SP 1 PC, Whenever I try to install either I get the following error message;
Quicktime - "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
iTunes - "The installation of Quicktime did not complete successfully. iTunes requires Quicktime."
From my iTunes error message I hope that by correcting the Quicktime error the iTunes should in turn be fixed.
I am using the latest installers for each and I can't understand why this is happening,
I have tried completely removing my old version of Quicktime and tried to copy my other PC's Quicktime folder into this one however that has not worked. I have also tried using the latest installers multiple times however I always get the same error message.
Please help me fix this error where Quicktime can't install,
    Thanks
    James

Says windows install package does not operate yet I can install other programs.
What's the precise text of the message, please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

  • How can I move movies from my computer to my iPad? They will play in quicktime but not iTunes

How can I move movies from my computer to my iPad? They will play with quicktime but not iTunes so I can't sync them

Th AVPlayerHD works well for playing other video types.  You can transfer the videos via USB in the app tab in iTunes on your computer.  When you open that tab when you have you iPad connected to the computer scroll down and you will see apps listed on the left and a blank on the right.  Click on the app and then click on the add button under the blank window on the right.  Then navigate to the video you want to play and it will transfer it to the iPad.  I have about 14 movies on mine using AVPlayerHD.  works very well.  Also have VLC player (before it was yanked from the app store).  Works about the same.
You can also get the app Air Video and stream the video to from your computer to the iPad, and even have Theo ad connected to the tv to watch on there.  I do that all the time with my iPhone.  Saves time with not having to sync movies all the time.

  • Once I add my .swf to Dreamweaver, the buttons are not clickable, how can I fix this?

    Hello there,
I'd just like to start out by saying that this is the first time I have posted on these forums, so if I have done anything wrong, I apologize!
Anyway, about my question, just like the title says, once I import the .swf into Dreamweaver the buttons are not clickable, however when tested outside of Dreamweaver, they work correctly.
Basically I have an animated banner with some audio and two buttons, the buttons mute and unmute the music.
The file consists of two layers, one of which has 2 keyframes, the first keyframe has the Audio with the settings; "Effect: None. Sync: Start, Loop" and a button leading to the next frame.
The next keyframe (still on layer one) has much of the same but the Audio settings are different; "Effect: None. Sync: Stop, repeat x 1" and this will stop the music.
Now on the other layer (Rocket) I have a movie clip of a space-themed background and a rocket flying across it, the movie clip is made up of a motion tween and another movie clip which is the rocket.
I am using Flash CS6 and Dreamweaver CS6 on a Windows 7 computer. I am also using Actionscript 2.0
    I apologize for the amount of information and I'm not very briliant at explaining things, so here are some images of the flash file, hopefully they'll help;
    Layer setup - http://i.imgur.com/iZHwfAw.jpg
    The movie clip - http://i.imgur.com/ayvPJUZ.jpg
Keyframe one sound settings - http://i.imgur.com/LWbnQhO.jpg
Keyframe two sound settings - http://i.imgur.com/7kS9dO2.jpg
Actionscript for the first button/first keyframe - http://i.imgur.com/x6ROqPv.jpg   - (The second button/keyframe has the same code, but obviously the instance name and frame number has been changed)
Again, I apologise if this all seems confusing!
Thanks in advance for any answers to this question
    Adam.

If you did not create this swf yourself then you won't be able to do what I am suggesting.  If you did, then open the fla in Flash and go into the Publish Settings and select the option to publish an html file as an output.  That will create an html page that embeds the Flash file.  Test that file in your browser and see if it plays properly.  IF so, then copy that code in place of whatever Dreamweaver did to embed the Flash.
Dreamweaver is not a reliable tool for embedding Flash content... why it does not do it the same way Flash does it is anyone's guess.

  • How to get rid of title bar of a quicktime window?

    The main problem:
I want to display the title info etc about each track as they play in iTunes. How can I do that on an otherwise black screen (desktop) (I don't want to use the visualizer with its psychedelic patterns).
    Background:
I want to play music from iTunes (many pieces in a row - for like a full day). While this is happening I want the title etc of the tune to be displayed on the screen, like white smallish text against a black background in the lower right hand corner. At the same time I want slides to be displayed on the screen.
So, with iPhoto I can run a slide show but only while one piece of music is playing.
Instead I can have the desktop slowly change (from system preferences) with images from a folder every 5 seconds. That's not too bad. Looks good, actually, except for that annoying menu bar at the top! Well, black tape can hide that one (or a second display and move it over there). Now iTunes can play away all day.
As to how to get the title etc of the song playing displayed I was thinking about somehow extracting it from iTunes with applescript, then paste it into the text track of a quicktime movie, and display that little movie in a small window. I have figured out how to get rid of the controller from the window. But, I can not figure out how to get the title bar of the quicktime window to go away - that is I want a window with nothing around it, neither controllers nor title bar nor anything. How do I create such a window. Any good ideas out there?
Or is there a totally different way of obtaining the same effect?
    Thanks.
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi,
You could try posting at the QuickTime discussion area. There might be an iTunes visualizer that allows you to make a slideshow with track info. It has been a while since I tried making a SMIL file, but I think you could do what you want with that. Not sure how you create a streaming text of track information. I would have to do some reviewing.
    gl,

  • ITunes/QuickTime/Windows Vista HELP!

    Hi,
I've been having this problem for several days now. I tried to open iTunes and it said there was an error and iTunes had to close. This happened several times, after many re-boots of my system. The 'solution' was to upgrade my iTunes (it's been a while since I've had an internet connection), but when I tried to install it gave me the following message:
+>>> The installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully. iTunes requires QuickTime.+
    followed by:
+...>>> The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.+
I've tried installing multiple times with the same messages.
    I then tried to upgrade QuickTime on its own, to receive the following message error;
+...>>> The installer encountered errors before the requested operations for QuickTime could be completed. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.+
I feel like I'm going round in circles! I've since uninstalled iTunes, but cannot uninstall QuickTime, and I keep getting the same error messages.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
    Meg

Absolutely nothing happens when I try to uninstall QuickTime. It goes through the uninstall process, but then it just stops. No error messages or anything.
I've been using the Windows "Uninstall a Program" feature because I haven't been able to start QuickTime.

  • I downloaded the newest version of itunes.  now Quicktime is not working with it.  I reinstalled itunes as directed and it's still not working

I downloaded the newest verion of itunes.  Now quicktime is not working...error 2096.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.  still nothing.  i have read countless other people having the same issue.  What is the problem?????

    error 2096
That one is often a compatibility mode problem. Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

  • Why is QuickTime suddenly "not available" in CS3?

While trying to embed a video into a document, I recieve an error message saying QuickTime isn't available. I've uninstalled and reinstalled QuickTime, which now works -- it will run video independently of InDesign. But when I try to place a video or embed one into a frame, I see this error message. The diologue box will not allow me to browse for a video (the button is grayed out). I'm using a farily new setup, InDesign CS3 on a Windows 7 64-bit platform.
Is there a setting to allow InDesign to "see" Quicktime? Apple and Microsoft forums have been no help.

Yes, I have the very latest Quicktime download from Apple. This worked fine until our computers were upgraded to Windows 7. But the Windows site says Quicktime is fully compatible with 7. I've uninstalled both Quicktime and InDesign and reinstalled, several times. The popup window simply says "Failed because QuickTime is not available." Our IT person says all the programs are installed in the proper folders. This has cost me three days of productivity and I'm at a loss. Is there a setting in InDesign to reconnize third-party apps like QuickTime?

  • Both ITunes and Quicktime will not open

I can't open either ITunes or Quicktime. Each time, I get the iTunes or QuickTime Player "has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I tried repairing both, was able to uninstall & reinstall iTunes but still get same error. Quicktime would not uninstall, removed it through Windows Install Clean Up, cannot re-install.
    Here are the errors:

And the one during the Quicktime install:

Verify if you have access to that directory
Please help! I am pulling my hair out!

I wish I had an answer for you; all I can say is, you're not alone. I've been unable to open iTunes (7.6.2) all day, and after reading your post, I tried QuickTime: yep, it only crashes, just like iTunes. FWIW, here's what I tried: restart, repair disk permissions, CD start, using Time Machine to restore iTunes 7.6.1 (now I have both that and 7.6.2, but neither works), calling Apple tech support (they want $49 to see if they can come up with something else).
Also FWIW, this problem started this morning; last night, I upgraded Safari (3.1.1). I don't know why there'd be a connection, but...?
