Quicktime with Windows XP

Hi all,
I have an old PC running Windows XP that I'm using in a photoshop just to show some presentations made with iPhoto (.mov files).
For running those I've uploaded Quicktime but I'm having a strange situation.
Athough I don't have any screensaver, even configuring the "Loop" mode in quicktime, after sometime the screen becomes blank. To restart the show I need to move the mouse (at it is in "energy saver" mode).
Can you help me to understand why this is happening ?
Many thanks in advance

I found the problem ... it was in the Energy Saver options in Windows XP so this case is closed

  • Help with Quicktime for Windows 7 64-bit

I am having a problem with the latest version of Quicktime for Windows. When I launch Quicktime and then 'click' on any icon for download I can see the sentence, "Connecting to iTunes" and then I am redirected to download iTunes... Problem is that I already have iTunes.
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 and up to date.
    iTunes version 11.1.3.8
    Quicktime version 7.74.80.86
I Unibstalled both products, using the guide provided from Apple. I, then downloaded and installed iTunes first, then I downloaded Quicktime and installed it. I had the same issue. Next, I went to Control Panel/ "programs and Features, used the "change" option and clicked "repair". I did this for both iTunes and Quicktime. They ran fine. No error messages, nothing in event logs, no trace of an install log to try to diagnose this myself. Does anyone have this problem, or can anyone help me to start the diagnosis necessary to solve this?
Second issue came to light after all of the steps I performed; Before, I would conect my iPhone to a USB port and iTunes would launch automatically. Now, it does not. I see my 4s in devices and I see a normal state using device manager. So, I went to "Default Programs" and selected my 4s and the dropdown window no longer has an option for iTunes. However, when I go to choose a default program for audeo, etc. the dropdown mwnu has an option for iTunes.
Thanks for reading and I would like some help.

I found the problem and the solution. In Internet Explorer ver 11 / manage plugin's, make sure that the Apple plugin's are enabled. My setings were incorrect, the plugin ws siabled. Enabled it and all is well!

  • Is there a version of Quicktime compatible with Windows 8.1

Is there a version of QuickTime compatible with Windows 8.1 that can be used to play enhanced cd contents?

Download the free QuickTime Player 7 app for Windows.
There is no Windows 8 version.

  • QuickTime for Windows - version incompatibility with Safari 5.1?

This issue involves a Dell Laptop running Windows XP Pro, SP3.
I installed Quicktime and iTunes, and both were functioning fine.
I then installed Open Office, a couple of Windows security updates. and then Safari 5.1
Immediately after the above installations, neither QuickTime nor iTunes could play mp4 video, and QuickTime could not play m4a or mp3 audio.
I made the assumption that it must have had something to do with Open Office, or perhaps Safari 5.1.
I completely uninstalled all Apple software on the PC. I then installed Open Office and QuickTime, in that order.
QuickTime once again could play both mp4 video and m4a or mp3 audio.
I hoped that I had fixed the problem.
However, immediately after installing Safari 5.1 once again, Quicktime again could not play video or audio.
The time pointer moves in real time, but there is no audio, and video shows a new frame every 2 seconds (approx.), but no sound.
    The QuickTime version is 7.6.7.
Is there an absolute need to install the "Safari + Quicktime" installer to avoid this type of issue? My main computer is a Mac, and I'm pretty sure
I've updated Safari on occasion w/o first installing the latest Quicktime. Perhaps the issue is more complex with Windows.

  • Quicktime on Windows clients can't open files in folders with long names!!

    Hi,
we've got a really strange problem. We have an Intel Xserve with Leopard Server 10.5.4 which is sharing files over SMB. Everything works fine, except Quicktime on Windows clients (XP Pro and Vista). It looks like the length of the folder names is the problem. If a single folder in the path to the mov has a name that's longer than 8 characters, Quicktime fails with "Error -43: A file could not be found."
    x:\test1234\test.mov works
    x:\test12345\test.mov doesn't work
Same for UNC paths. VLC on Win and Quicktime on OS X work without problems over SMB. Also the problem doesn't exist on other Samba based fileservers.
Any ideas? Perhaps some smb.conf tweaks to fix this?
    Best regards

  • Making Quicktime slide shows (videos) with Windows

Hello. With the Mac platform, I am able to use my photo program, iPhoto, export photos from it and make a Quicktime slide show (video, with accompanying music from my music program, iTunes. Is this also possible with Windows, ie: where would the 'Export' command be and how would music be integrated into it? Any other helpful comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can open many different audio and image formats with the Windows version of QuickTime Pro. To assemble a slide show of still images you could open a folder of liked sized, sequentially named images and add that new file "scaled" to the audio track.
You could also open the audio track and "add scaled to selection" your individual image files. This method would allow you set the duration of each slide to different values but would limit your show to 98 images (99 track limit).
This method could also use different image dimensions, different "offsets", transparency "blends" and mask layers. Depending on your intended distribution format you could make HD sized QuickTime movies with multiple images displaying simultaneously (Brady Bunch style).

  • Is Quicktime 7.7.4 fully compatible with Windows 8

Could you confirm if Quicktime 7.7.4 is fully compatible with Windows 8? As the apple website doesn't list windows 8 in the compatible system requirements when you look up quicktime 7.7.4. I'm just updating my itunes and Ive been a longstanding user of quicktime and quicktime pro and would like to continuing to use these products if they fully work with Windows 8. I find quicktime pro one of the best video playback products around. I've just replaced my laptop with a new one running Windows 8. Thank you :-)

Microsoft advises that all versions of PSE except versions 1, 3, 5 & 6 will work with Windows 8. The best option is a new computer with W8 and then do a clean install of Elements. Some difficulties may arise if upgrading the operating system on top of existing software. In those circumstances make sure you have your original disks or your download package, in case a re-install is necessary.

  • Is Quicktime 7.5.5 Compatible With Windows XP SP3?

    Hello! A quick question...

    YES

  • Quicktime for Windows cannot keep up with HD video

I just bought a new Aiptek GO-HD video camera. It records in H.264 format using .MOV files as the container. I don't know the specifics of the files, but they are 1280x720 and the files run at approximately 2 GB per hour.
The camera came with a decoder to allow Windows Media Player to play back the files, which works OK (the quality is fine, but the controls don't always work). The CODEC is identified as: NewSoft MPEG Video Decoder Filter (H.264/AVC). Windows Media Player shows up using 80% of the dual cores (40% of each).
When I try to play back the files with the current version of Quicktime, the video is a bit choppy. Quicktime shows up using 60% of the dual cores, but appears to use more of one than the other (neither is pegged at 100% though)
The files play back fine on a relatively high end Mac - I'm not sure if the different is that it's the Mac version of QT or that it's higher end hardware.
    Two questions:
First - is it a CPU limitation or a Quicktime for Windows limitation?
Second - if I buy Quicktime Pro, will I be able to edit and encode the video without the stuttering?
I'm willing to accept temporary issues as long as I can produce videos that will be playable on the right hardware (or converted to other formats). I might eventually get a Mac Mini if that will work for editing these files.
If you want to check it out, I've temporarily posted a 13 MB video to http://afterburner.net/temp/cameratest/cameratest.mov
    Many thanks,
    Rick

    http://www.goaiptek.com/samples/GO-HD_video-sample.MOV
Sample file from the creators of the camera.
Movie Properties window of QuickTime Pro shows H.264 but the Movie Inspector windows shows AVC with some garbage characters.
I was able to edit either file (copy/paste) without issue. I also exported a portion of your file using AIC (Mac format) and will test later with other codecs.
H.264 Video is CPU intensive and my 1.4GHz Mac mini couldn't play the file without dropping frames and the fan kicked into high gear.
So you'll need a powerful machine to view the file but an average one could do the editing (as long as you don't mind load noises and dropped frames during playback).
It's a $300 camera that does HD? Amazing.

  • Issues with playback on Quicktime for Windows

    Hi All,
I created a little slide show within iPhoto containing 290 pictures and lasting about 30 minutes. I exported it to a .mov file which was added as a video clip within FCE. Next, in FCE, I added background music, some video transitions and exported the completed project using H.264 codec. The .mov file plays fine on the Mac within the Quicktime Player. But not so hot on a Windows XP Pro laptop. In the final 90 seconds of the 30 minute movie, the screen goes green and the audio is replaced with static.
I have all of the updates for my workstation and the tools that I am using, (FCE, iPhoto). I have tried different versions of Quicktime for Windows, re-exported the movie from FCE and tried playback on different XP systems all with the same result.
Again, the first 28:30 of the movie plays perfect and looks great, but that last 90 seconds goes nuts.
Unfortunately, the presentation of this video requires that I play it back on the PC laptop.
Thanks for offering any advice you may have.

    Hello,
I am currently trying to play the file directly from the computer's hard drive. I will take your advice and export again as an mpeg. Any advice on what mpeg settings render the best looking videos?

  • Why will Quicktime 7.4 not run with Windows Vista?

I've installed this several times. Even had my Dell tech rep remotely access and install Quicktime for windows Vista version 7.4. Same error message appears when I try to run: "QuickTime Player requires Windows 2000 or later" (I have VISTA) hello?!!! the error message goes on: "Please make sure compatibility mode is disabled in the Compatibility tab of the properties for QuickTimePlayer.exe". Even in the compatibility tab, Windows Vista is not even listed. I'm so frustrated! I've purchase QT Pro and can't even use it!

  • Error 2356 with windows vista 64bit

I have had Itunes and Quicktime working fine but suddenly quicktime was nt working giving me an end program error when i need to play anything so i decided to reinstall Itunes and Quicktime but it started to even give me an error uninstalling them but i managed to manually uninstall them and delete even the reg files but when i try to installl any of them now its gives me an 2356 error
    Please advise?

Unfortunately, I tried every solution on the page (including restoring) and it still doesn't work. I thought the problem was because of a bad video file that iTunes warned me to delete, but that doesn't work at all.
There has to be an issue with Vista. The iPod worked just fine on my Dell with Windows XP. As soon as I switched computers, it stopped working. What issues does iPod have with Vista?
