Quicktime won't export to Itunes??

I have been using final cut express to make my videos. When I export them, I export them over to quicktime. To upload them to vimeo, they need to be below 500MB. I have always just uploaded them to Itunes which makes them smaller. I have done this for years now. Now, all of a sudden I am getting this message when I export them over to itunes:
Can’t make file "Macintosh HD:private:var:folders:iO:iOileZbUEKGVLQJbYlGoXE+++TI:-Tmp-:Butt Kicking Salmon (Computer).m4v" into type alias.
I don't understand how all of a sudden I can not do this procedure. Anyone else have this problem and how did you fix it? I have searched all over and I can not figure it out. I am also looked for Itune updates
Thanks guys!

I realize your workflow was working correctly for you, and suddenly it is not, but I think I don't understand exactly what you are doing. I am not trying to derail your thread in a non-productive direction, but to me it sounds like you are doing to many steps to do what you want  . . .
Can you give a more detailed account of how you are doing your export?
What settings are you using in QuickTime conversion to convert the file?
If you are converting it to a Vimeo friendly codec and frame size, why is iTunes involved?

  • Quicktime won't uninstall and itunes won't open

Originally I was having problems opening itunes, an error message appeared saying windows has encoutered an error and needs to close. I then tried uninstalled itunes and reinstalling, and I still couldn't open itunes, I then read that it might be related to quicktime so I tried uninstalling quicktime too. Quicktime would come up with an error "fatal error during installation". I tried remove quicktime from my programs, tried the windows installer cleanup utility to remove quicktime, and tried deleting some files from system32. I tried reinstalling quicktime again after a reboot, and it comes up with quicktime is currently running on a newer version and so cannot install.
My itunes still won't open and I can't get rid of quicktime either.
    Someone please help...

I have same problem. have searched and deleted all all quicktime related files i can find doing"quicktime" search.
I have this error when trying to remove or install quicktime or itunes:
Error 1316.A network error has occurred while attemting or read from the file
    C:WINDOWS\Installer\QuickTime.msi
there is not "installer" folder in windows, nor a quicktime.msi file.
why would the download think there was?

  • My quicktime won't export sound with my movies

    Hey,
I have quicktime 7 pro and have tried to convert my home movies into the MPEG-4 format(the only thing that itunes will read.(i have tried the quicktime format and that failed) All i want to do is have my sound go with the movie after i export. I need help.

The most frequent cause of this problem is trying to export from mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 files. QT will not export the sound from these file types.QT Mpeg Limitations
Open one of the movie in QT and then check MovieInfo. That will tell you if the format is mpeg.
If they are mpeg-1 you can use this Windows freeware to convert the mpeg-1 to uncompressed avi, which QT will read and from which it will export both sound and video. Open the mpeg-1 in VirtualDub then go to the File menu and use Save as Avi. The default export format is uncompressed. Note that such files are quite large, so if the mpegs are more than a minute or so you may need to do the conversion in segments. VDub has check marks in the window to start and stop selection of a segment and it will only export the selected portion.

  • Quicktime won't export my file without a watermark

I am trying to convert a wmv file into swf. I have flash and the flash video utility. But I can't bring a wmv file into flash; it has to be converted to something else first. I upgraded to Quicktime Pro today in order to do this part of it, but when I try to export it to a .mov file, I get a message from a completely different program saying I have to purchase the 'flip4mac player' before Quicktime will export without the watermark. Does quicktime not open wmv files? Why is this other program getting involved?
thanks for any help. I hate to have to buy two programs just to do a conversion.

You must purchase one of the upgrades to export to WMP formats. Right now you're using the "trial" version of the third party component.

  • Slideshow won't export to itunes

I've previously been able to export man slideshows to itunes. I'm now using iphoto 9.4.1 and OSX 10.4.7. I can create and watch the slideshow fine but when I try and export it, the process starts but there is no progress on the progress bar and the picture is black/blank. Itunes opens up after a moment but nothing happens. Have repaired and rebuilt library. Updated flip4mac. Exported slides to desktop. Tried smaller shows with new pics. Have 100GB space available. Nothing is working. Can't reload from app store because 10.7.5 does not support the latest version of iphoto, needs 10.9 or greater. Any tips?

    Hi rholcomb01,
It sounds like you are having issues with exporting a slideshow from iPhoto, a frustrating situation to be sure. I would suggest using the steps in this article to troubleshoot -

  • Quicktime won't export

I have QT 7 Pro and am running 10.3.9. i have tried for the last coupleof days to use the export feature to change formats, save pictures etc only to get a "failed <10>" in the status box shortly after "calculating time". I have deleted the QT prefs and plists and re-registered the software. I have tried everything short of reinstalling QT. Any other ideas. Thanks in advance.

As QuickTimeKirk there says at the end - and if my experience is anything to go by - it's Flip4Mac.
I tried converting a movie just now, for the first time in a while, and got the same 'fail' message you were getting, no matter what settings I used. I removed Flip4Mac (there is an uninstaller) and hey presto! Everything works as it should.
Flip4Mac worked fine doing whatever it did, but clearly there is an issue with QuickTime Pro that's not worth keeping it for.

  • Can't Export to iTunes

After finishing a GarageBand file, my iMac G5 won't export into iTunes. It's gets to the end of the slidebar and then just sits there. Nothing.
Also, I have been unable to install any iTunes upgrades since the horrible 7.0 or 7.01 version. The installer opens and it won't go past the "preparing" window. I get the following in the Installer Log window:
Package Authoring Warning: The installer script defines but doesn't use (and can't install) package id manual version 8.0.2.2230000.1687.
I've tried removing the prefs files from both GarageBand and iTunes and I still have the export problem and the inability to upgrade iTunes.
Any solution besides a clean install (which I had just done a month prior to the problems beginning)?
    Thanks!

Try repairing your permissions, then restart your computer.

  • New Quicktime 7.6.6 (1671) won't export WAV files

HELP! - New Quicktime 7.6.6 (1671) won't export WAV files. I just did the automatic upgrade to the new version of Quicktime and now I can't export WAV files from a CAF file. The original .CAF file plays perfectly but when I attempt to export it the exported file is corrupted and won't play. I have another computer with the previous version of Quicktime and it exports the same file flawlessly. Anyone know what's going on with the new version? THANKS!

+Error writing to the file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\nb.lproj\iTunesMiniPlayerLocalized.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.+
More often than not, that sort of message indicates file damage rather than a privileges issue on the file.
If you've got Windows XP, try doing a chkdsk over your C drive, as per:
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
If you've got Vista, try the following procedure. Go "Start > Computer". Right-click on "Local Disk C:" and select "properties". Click the "Tools" tab. Click the "Check now" button in the "Error correction" section.
Do the disk checks find/repair any damage? If so, does an install go through properly afterwards?

  • Sequence won't export in quicktime movie

I have Final Cut Express and for some reason a sequence won't export into a Quicktime movie, but a Final Cut Express movie file.
Any ideas why this is happening?
    Thanks
    Barry

Thank you both for the input.
I didn't realize this. This was the first time the file I exported didn't have the Quicktime icon, or named a Quicktime File.
Does this type of file still work on Internet sites like Facebook?
    Much appreciated.

  • IPhoto 6 Won't Export Slideshow Audio to QuickTime

When "exporting" iPhoto 6 albums to Quicktime the audio selected in iTunes does not export with the selected Album photos. iPhoto "Help" says that iTunes' music selected for the slideshow also will export as the Album's "selected" music. But the slideshow music selection will not export to QuickTime with the iPhoto 6 photo album. Has anyone solved this problem? Thank you very much for any suggestions you may have!

My situation is a bit different. I can not seem to export a "slideshow" without getting that awful sample music.
The process is File>Export>QuickTime. No Make Slideshow and then export.
From the Help files I am supposed to create a slideshow and then select music from iTunes in the SlideShow settings menu. Of course, I've now got a slide show with a huge filesize I didn't want. Delete isn't that big of a step. So now it is back to File>Export>QuickTime and check the box to add selected music.
Of course, there is no way to know if the music has been identified and included in the export. Just trust, I guess. OK, make the export happen.
Now, open the QuickTime movie file I just created. Once again, that awful sample music has been included. I've done this so many times with the same result.
Work around is to export the images as a QuickTime movie with no music. Then open the QuickTime move and add music.
Any idea as to why Apple put that stupid music checkbox in the File>Export menu if it only grabs the awful sample music?

  • ITunes won't load, it says Quicktime was not found. QuickTime is required to run iTunes.

iTunes won't load, it says Quicktime was not found. QuickTime is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. I have done this several times and it keeps showing me that Quicktime is unavailable even though I redownload it every single time.

  • ITunes rented movies won't play on my PC.  "This movie required QuickTime which this version of iTunes doesn't include.  So I downloaded QT but movies still won't play.  HELP

iTunes rented movies won't play on my PC.  "This movie required QuickTime which this version of iTunes doesn't include."  So I downloaded QT 7 but movies still won't play.  HELP  Very frustrating.

Ok nw the rented film is on the iPad which won't play and when I looked at the Mac I was greeted with an error message saying that the film could nt be transferred because the file had already been transferred somewhere else!  Thing is I can see it on theioad and the Mac still!
Obviously the film Kees checking where it as you can't watch it in two places at the same time. I can understand that but I knw it's not anywhere else.
The only thing I can think of is if when time machine backs it up it thinks it's being watched!
    Any ideas anyone?

  • Song won't play on itunes but plays on quicktime

I just downloaded an entire album (not off itunes). However when i click on the song in finder, iTunes opens up but doesn't even display my song. Nothing happens. Not only does it not play, there is not evidence I even clicked on the song.
However when I open it on Quicktime is plays just fine.
I made an email account containing one of the songs that won't play. If someone can maybe dissect why the song won't play in iTunes I'd greatly appreciate it.
    <Edited by Host>
I've attached the song to the first email sent to myself. Maybe if you could look at how it's encoded or something to help figure this out.
    Thanks in advance!

MP3 files have structures which can vary according to the dialect of mp3 used. Some applications will only look at a file if it is perfect. Some are willing to try pretty much anything. (Like reading a post on Apple Discussion. If somebody omits grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure I might not even try reading it, but some are willing to try and can make sense of it in the end.) There's something not quite right with the file (um, if this is of dubious origins it might not be surprising). iTunes won't look at it, but Quicktime is willing to have a go and can make enough sense of it to play it.
I opened the file with MP3Trimmer (well worth the minimal shareware fee IMHO, and has a pretty liberal trial version). Normally it would open a file like that in a few seconds. It took it about a minute of scanning before it did. I then saved the file in mp3Trimmer (it doesn't recode it so there's no additional quality loss) and it fixed whatever it didn't like and I could add it to iTunes.

  • Quicktime fails to export video

Hi, I have quicktime pro and was trying to export some videos for my iPhone. I'm having trouble with certain movies and i'm not sure why. They are all in the same format (H.264), but some of the videos won't export video, just the audio portion. When i try to play the exported video it just shows up as a black screen with the audio playing. anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

    i have the same problem!
it's frustrating the heck out of me
i think it started after the last update of iTunes & Quicktime
i can't export my videos to .m4v anymore to get them to play on ipod
i guess the encoder is broken
the option in - iTunes/advanced/make iphone compatible file - won't work - it just gives the same white video and the sound is fine.
streamclip won't work - it just fails using that encoder
i really really want to fix this!
    it used to work fine
i've even tried deleting quicktime and its folder of encoders in /Library/
and then reinstalling but that hasn't helped!
