Quicktime won't load certian videos

I have noticed that sometimes quicktime will not load videos from certian links. Mostly these are the exclusive movie clips or trailers on web sites like the new Harry Potter HD trailer on Yahoo Movies. The video box will come up on my computer but there will never be any movie or dialogue load. Has anyone else had this problem.

Update on previous post:
SOLUTION was a reinstall of both IE7 and QT 7.1.6, which cured problem.
HOWEVER I noticed the other day that the problem was back and the qtlHD[1].qtl box reappeared each time I clicked in Yahoo movies (seemed OK on QT site for some reason tho). Only thing I had done was to update DivX codec to 6.6.1. Thinking this was causing the problem, as soon as I unticked "Support decoding of Generic MPEG-4 video" box on Decoder tab of Configuration Utility (for DivX) then QT worked like a dream.
Hope this helps others.

What codec packs do you have loaded?  With a straight installation I have had any problems loading my Sony AVCHD 1920 x 1080 files in any version of Premiere.  What is your source of your media?

  • Quicktime won't load - along with another program

Fairly new computer, programs already on machine work fine and load with no problem. I installed ULead VS 10+, installed no prob, but won't load. Switched to Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0, install fine, won't load. Downloaded the latest Quicktime, installed fine, won't load. Had my firewall/AV off when installing and trying to load. The weird thing is, I installed Abdobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 and it worked fine. Also installed Window Washer and it works fine. Trying to figure out if something on my machine is not allowing certain programs to load b/c of a Quicktime file?

Think I might've discovered part of the problem. I'm seeing a Quicktime for Windows (32 bit) under my Add/Remove Progams. Can't remove it there, tells me it can't find a current version of QT, if I have an older version I can use the QT installer to remove it. Tried using the windows uninstall through All Programs, but get same error message. Tried using Add/Remove to get rid of my current 7.1.3 version, but it comes up with a fatal error message. How can I remove the QT 32 bit and the QT 7.1.3? I think if I could get rid of all that and reinstall 7.1.3, that might solve my prob.

  • Quicktime will not load any video streams

Whenever I try to watch any Apple keynote presentations (e.g. from WWDC) Quicktime loads a window and then I wait... and wait. But nothing happens - only a blue bar flashing back and forth. This has happened ever since I moved from Panther on an iBook to Tiger on a MacBook and now Leopard. What's the problem?

If you do a search of these forums you will find many solutions to your Keynote problem. Perhaps one of them will work for you.
    Good luck!

  • QuickTime Won't Load (Question Mark on Symbo)

    I have Quicktime 7.0 installed.
On any web site that uses Quicktime, all that I see is the Q symbol with a question mark. The video will not play.

add me to the list. All was fine before Quicktime updated to 7.0
I get the big Q with question mark when I try to enter any chat rooms...
seems quicktime has hijacked swf files... the only fix I've found is to uninstall Quicktime. BUT...The problem is that iTunes requires Quicktime to run.
I have spent hours troubleshooting this. I wish someone from the Quicktime tech support could post a fix.
    Thanks

  • Quicktime won't load - insufficient privelleges

I've been trying to down load the latest version of Quicktime and about half way through the installation it says I have insufficient privelleges to access this directory. The installation cannot continue. It tells me to log in as administrator but I am definately an administrator.
I've tried opening another use account as administrator but I get the same response.
Any clues on what to do????

Ahhh. With an lproj folder like that, the issue is often disk/file damage rather than permissions, pinky. (They tend to show up a lot in damage contexts like that because there's a horde of files in them.)
Let's try running a disk check over the C drive, as per the instructions in the following document. Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
[Check your hard disk for errors|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-fo r-errors]
Does the disk check find/repair any damage? If so, does a QuickTime install go through properly afterwards?

  • Won't load streaming videos.

Ok.. Youtube works, but other websites that stream videos on websites like Viddler and the like WILL NOT load at all. I just get the gear loading symbol and nothing happens. Sometimes if I leave the page the video will show right before I leave.

I saw that I had the 10.5.8 Version of Mac OS X so I'm updating to v. 10.6.4 as we speak.
But i've been trying everything the last 2 hours and nothing has worked at all.
    Any suggestions?

    HI,
Might be a good idea at this point to boot from your install disc and run Disk Utility especially since two browsers are involved and you've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash.
Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
(In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first from the installer menu)
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 15% free space.*

  • QuickTime won't load .mov?

I have a number of .mov files of different ages from different sources. Ever since I upgraded to Mavericks (ver 10.9), none will open with QuickTime (ver 10.3). Double clicking on them gets me a small window that says "converting" with a progress bar. Then I get a dialog box "QuickTime Player can't open filename.mov", with an "OK" and a "Tell Me More" button. "Tell Me More" just sends me to the page that tells me the files QuickTime will load.
Looking at the Get Info > More Info, some of these movies have a VP6F, MPEG Layer 3 codec; some have H264, AAC codecs.
I tried opening them with VLC (ver 2.1.2). Some will play; with others I get audio only.

Basically, you have multiple problems. The first is the fact that QT X v10.3 only supports a very limited set of compression formats compared to previous versions of QT X. The second appears to be the loss of certain support codecs—the access for which was orphaned during the Mavericks upgrade or which were deleted as part of the upgrade process. In addition, since you indicate that some of the problem files are H.264/AAC MOV files, it would appear that they may be hybrid or non-standard encodings since standard encodings should automatically open directly in QT X v10.3 and not trigger the MovieModernizer/Convert routines.
You have two primary options here. The first would be to determine what support package was lost and re-install or reconnect access to it allowing QT X v10.3 to auto-convert the files or you can re-establish the required support access and use the free QT 7 Player v7.6.6 to play the files without conversion using the 32-bit QT structure still embedded in the Mavericks OS.

  • HTML5 video player won't load YouTube videos (and probably nothing else either)

When I request that YouTube use the HTML5 video player for videos, no videos will load - I have to switch to Adobe Flash for anything to play. The page for a video will finish loading and I'll just sit there watching the loading spiral of death ceaselessly. I've tried a number of suggestions from other threads with similar issues and nothing's helped.
    - Safe Mode does NOT fix the problem (so it's not an add-on or script issue)
    - Clearing cookies/cache does not work
    - Toggling the media.windows-media-foundation.enabled setting does nothing
    - Disabling hardware acceleration also does nothing
I'm at my wit's end. Flash will hang and crash REALLY often so I don't want to use it, but it's the only thing that works for YouTube. Please help.

You have to download and install Adobe Flash. Flash is not pre-installed.

  • Flash player won't load all videos

    Hi there.
Flash players load youtube and facebook videos fine but on pages like live leak or Vimeo it doesn't work.
It states that there's an error or the videos is unavailable.
I've uninstalled it and when I go to the Adobe flash site it says that Google Chrome has a built in flash player :/
I'm using Windows 7 with the newest updates and Google chrome 21.0.1180.79
    What can I do?

Google Chrome has in-built Flash Player. You don't need to install it separately.
Do you have issues with Internet Explorer too?
Could you please try the solution provided in the following page? http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/enable-system-flash-player-google-chrome.html

  • Firefox won't load & play videos, IE will, any sugestions as what the issue might be?

when I try to view a video the pc acts like it never connects to where ever the video is stored.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
