Quicktime won't respond after screen recording

This is so frustrating, and it happened TWICE!!!
So, I do "Speed-Paints"--which I need a screen recorder to do it--which, are me drawing stuff and posting it to you YouTube. So, as I said, I need a screen recorder to work properly.
The first time it happened:
- I was drawing like I was normally did, and hoped the recording didn't last over 30 minutes. It was actually two hours, whoops. So, I click the stop button to save the recording, and it freezes and I get the (what I call) "Rainbow Spinning Wheel" (Mac's version of Window's hourglass). So, after 5 minutes of Rainbow Spinning Wheel, I wonder what's taking so long. After another 5 minutes, Quicktime crashes. Wasting MY time. Thanks.
Just now:
- I got in the mood to speedpaint, and remembered the last time I tried to record(mentioned above). So I decide to draw in parts, so save time and hopefully not run Quicktime for over an hour. So, I get the sketch and lines recorded(or so I thought). I hide Manga Studio(the program I was using), and click the stop button. Same thing as before, and it's still stuck in Rainbow Spinning Wheel!!! The recording was only 17 minutes, not even!!
So, any suggestions on how I can fix this? Or any recommendations on other screen recordings that won't crash and waste people's time?!
Thanks

I've had this problem as well and it's so frustrating! I do speed paints too and it's like you lose all your hard work OTL but I did two short screen record tests and apparently, one with Manga Studio 5 and the other with Photoshop CS6 and it only happened with Manga Studio 5 ;n; I really prefer Manga Studio though and it's really painful... But, good luck to you, I hope this helped!

  • Quicktime application not responding after screen recording.

    After taping video gameplay of a heavily modded Fallout: New Vegas, pressing the stop button makes the application stop responding altogether. Causing me to force quit as it saves only a couple seconds.  It worked for awhile for about four recordings and after upgrading the graphics in the game, it just doesn't want to help anymore. This is frustrating and needs a fix as soon as possible. this is maddeningly frustrating. There are no fixes, no manuals on a fix, no upgrades. This needs to be remedied now.

  • Quicktime does not have new screen recording option

    What happened to Quicktime's new screen recording option?
    I wanted to record a video and now the only option I can see is the built-in camera of myself.
    I have Mac OSX 10.9.1 with the lastest updates.

    I was just about to write about that.  For some reason I went back to Qucktime and played the recording of myself
    and went to delete it. There in the list I saw "new screen recording"  I looked at the "about Quicktime player" and found that it was indeed 10.3  I am not sure what I deed to get that but there it is.
    Thx, for verifying .

  • Quicktime won't play .mov files recorded on Olympus recorder

    I've got an Olympus pocket video recorder. but Quicktime will not play the files recorded on it. I get the error message "The document could not be opened. This media may be damaged."
    However, the files  play in iTunes if I import them and the preview plays if I select the icon and hit the space bar. But I need to use the Trim facility in Quicktime to do quick trimming on them.
    This is the MediaInfo information for one - can anyone shed any light, please?

  • Nano 6G touch screen won't respond after restore

    I have 6th Gen Nano. I can't get my touch to work at all. The swipe won't work, tap and double tap won't work. It is about 1 year old and I have had no real trouble up until today!
    I was forced to restore because the battery ran out completely and then the ipod wasn't recognised when I plugged into my laptop for a charge and update of download of latest podcasts.
    I didn't want to restore, but was forced to. It deleted everything. Then itunes arbitrarly decided what to include when it synched. None of my podcasts are on there, only music. I want podcasts!
    Very frustrated. This is my second ipod and I won't be purchasing another. I hate that I can't turn it off completely.
    Can anyone help? I have referred to all the Help manuals with no success.

    This is happening to some iPhone 5 users as well. Seems to be related to the iOS 8.0 update.
    You can follow the topic here:

  • IMac won't respond after being put to sleep/turned off.

    I've been dealing with this problem for a few months now. If I put my hard disk to sleep or turn my computer off, it doesn't respond when I try to wake it back up or turn it back on. It will make a continuous clicking noise (no there's no disc caught in it the CD drive) and the only way for me to actually restart is to run the Archive and Install feature on the install disc. If I try to simply restart it, I get a blue screen with a folder-with-a-question-mark icon where the Apple icon should be during loading. I've had to skip putting the hard disk to sleep at all but I do just put the display asleep, and it wakes up fine after that.
    I've noticed a lot of crashes with Safari and other things like games recently too. I'm usually able to just force quit the program and restart it though. I have a Logitech mouse and an Apple USB keyboard that I use with it and I've tried unplugging and replugging those, as well as trying other keyboards/mice with it to see if it's a rare hardware issue. The only thing I haven't checked yet is the RAM that my boyfriend installed for me a couple years ago.
    Although, I've noticed the last couple times I've had to do that, I've had to wait to use the install disc. If I do it too soon after it's stopped responding then my hard drive doesn't show up on the selection menu and the Archive and Install option doesn't come up. I have to let it sit a little while before I can do it.
    I'm not at home at the moment to see which exact model/generation it is, but I have the one with the flatpanel screen and built-in iSight. I bought it back in June 2006. I'm currently using Leopard on it (not sure which version though).
    Could one of my boards be worn out? Or could the additional RAM be causing problems? Any advice or suggestions are welcome. I'd like try checking everything I can myself before having to take it in to an Apple store. Thanks!

    I bought it back in June 2006.
    If it was purchased new, you are better off posting in another iMac forum. This is for the G4 iMacs with the articulated display arm and the dome-shaped base. It's not your fault--the forum labeling is, at best, non-intuitive and confuses plenty of posters.
    Look at "About this Mac" in your Apple menu and note the processor type. If it says "G5" then your forum is here:

    If it says your processor is "Intel," then your forum is here:

  • Mouse won't respond after downloading 10.2.8 update.

    I had to reinstall the older system of 10.2 after I tried to install 9.1 on my system. I couldn't boot up at all except through using apple option o f or from a system disk. I had recently bought this emac through ebay and it had the Tiger system installed but I didn't get the disk with the computer. My cds are the grey cds and therefore I had problems with the display being small. Finally after downloading 10.2.8 and zapping my pram and reset-all in o f, my display is now back to normal, but I can't get the mouse to respond. I have tried switching mouses and unhooking and reconnecting everything but nothing works. What can I do? This is becoming a real headache. Someone please help me.
    Elaine

    wmanning,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    What kind of mouse are you using? What Mac model name is in the grey OS X 10.2 Install discs you were using? Unless the grey-labeled discs are for the exact same Mac model, there's no guarantee that all the necessary hardware drivers are included, as you've already discovered with the video drivers defaulting to the firmware 640x480 pixels. It rather sounds as if your eMac doesn't have mouse drivers (which is odd; if you can use the keyboard, you must have basic USB driver support).
    Refer to eMac: How to locate the serial number and identify your model to check what model you have. If that model shipped with OS X 10.3.x or 10.4.x, the eMac won't run from 10.2.8 anyway. I prefer Mactracker for looking up what OS version shipped with what Mac model.
    Your best bet would be to use a retail (black label) OS X install disc, with an OS X version that post-dates when the eMac was built. Such a retail disc will have the full set of hardware drivers for the supported Macs built up to when the disc was pressed. If your eMac has a DVD-ROM or DVD-RW drive, you can use the current Tiger 10.4, which is faster and more stable than 10.2.8. If your eMac only has a CD drive, you can call the Apple Store and ask about the Media Exchange Program, or use a DVD-equipped Mac and a Firewire cable to install OS X on the eMac via FireWire target disk mode.
    You can also call the Apple Store and ask about ordering a replacement set of the discs that originally shipped with the eMac.
    You need OS X 9.2.2 to run Classic on an eMac (or to boot directly into OS 9 on 700 / 800 MHz nVidia graphics models). There would've been either an eMac-labeled OS 9.2.2 install CD or Software Restore disc originally with the eMac. You can use a commercial OS 9.2.1 CD to install OS 9 on an eMac, then go to the Apple Downloads site (linked at the top of the Discussions pages) to download the 9.2.2 updater. There are a confusing number of ways to reinstall OS 9, depending on the eMac model and the OS X version; see e.g., OS X: How to Perform Mac OS 9 Clean Install (there are links in that Knowledge Base article to other options).

  • [SOLVED] Arch won't respond after hibernation

    I don't normally hibernate but I accidentally hit the button while moving my keyboard. After I waited a minute and turned it back on it slowly started to boot up then went to a black screen. Now when I restart it reaches the gnome login screen then doesn't respond to the mouse or keyboard. The first thing I though I'd try was reformatting the swap partition but that didn't help. I really don't know what could have happened and I definitely don't know how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Yup, downgraded some packages and now it works fine. Any mods who see this should feel free to delete this topic considering the title and first post have nothing to do with the problem.

  • Satellite A300-114 - Won't reinitate after screen shuts down

    Hello.
    I have a Toshiba Satellite A300-114 running with Windows Vista Home Premium.
    It was working fine until two weeks ago, now, after some time of inactivity, the screen shuts down and it won't turn on agian. The Hard drive light blips but the Screen stays black. This is becoming more often.
    Does anybody have any ideia what the problem is?
    Thanks :)

    Sorry, I'll try to write with a more correct english.
    My problem was, when I leave my laptop alone, the display shutts off, the hard drive light under the touchpad keeps bleeping, but what ever I do the system doesn't "come back". I have to hard boot the computer.
    Now, i've tried with different power settings, and the same happens, and I also found out that when i have the "Turn off the display" set for never, the computer also starts working after leaving it alone for a while.
    I'm also not able to shut down the computer, I get the blue screen and the message "Closing" and nothing happens

  • Dialog box display won't update after screen blank or being moved

    I have a modeless dialog box used for status display by a plugin I wrote for Acrobat. Everything works fine until the screen blanks or the user moves the dialog box on the screen, at which point no further updates to the dialog box are displayed. My plugin consumes 100% of CPU for long periods of time so the program can appear dead without this display being updated, but nothing I have tried seems to make any difference. The dialog box is generated with ADM and things I have tried include calling "Update" on the dialog box at regular intervals, the windows "Sleep" function to yield the CPU periodically, and a host of similar tactics.
    I'm guessing all the code will get run together once I click submit, but here is how I create the diaglog box (it was working fine without the "WinAppRegisterModelessDialog", but I saw a reference to it elsewhere and tried it to see if it would help, not sure if it actually serves any useful purpose):
    statWin = sADMDialog->Create(inPluginRef, DIALOG_ID, IDB_DIALOG1, kADMModalDialogStyle, NULL, NULL, 0);
    WinAppRegisterModelessDialog((HWND)sADMDialog->GetWindowRef(statWin));
    infoBox = sADMDialog->CreateItem(statWin, 5, kADMTextStaticType, &coords, NULL, NULL, 0);
    // Status header
    coords.top = coords.bottom + 10;
    coords.bottom = coords.top + 12;
    statHeader = sADMDialog->CreateItem(statWin, kADMUniqueItemID, kADMTextStaticType, &coords, NULL, NULL, 0);
    // Status line
    coords.top = coords.bottom + 10;
    coords.bottom = coords.top + 12;
    statLine = sADMDialog->CreateItem(statWin, kADMUniqueItemID, kADMTextStaticType, &coords, NULL, NULL, 0);
    // Progress bar
    coords.top = coords.bottom + 10;
    coords.bottom = coords.top + 15;
    progress = sADMDialog->CreateItem(statWin, kADMUniqueItemID, kADMProgressBarType, &coords, NULL, NULL, 0);
    sADMItem->SetMinIntValue(progress, 0);
    sADMItem->SetMaxIntValue(progress, totalPages);
    // Set window size, and other attributes
    sADMDialog->Size(statWin, coords.right + BORDER, coords.bottom + BORDER);
    sADMDialog->SetText(statWin, PROD_NAME " - Progress");
    // Set header for status line
    sADMItem->SetText(statHeader, " Page # % Complete Estimated Time remaining");
    // Initialize progress bar
    sADMItem->Update(progress);
    Updates are currently performed with the following code segment. The last two lines are my attempts to get the display to update once the screen blanks:
    // show it
    sADMItem->SetText(statLine, textBuf);
    // Update progress bar
    sADMItem->SetIntValue(progress, pagesCompleted);
    // Force display update/refresh
    sADMDialog->Update(statWin);
    // Yield for display update (in case of screen blank or user changes)
    Sleep((DWORD)100);
    Everything works fine until the window is moved or screen blanking occurs, after that nothing seems to work, all updates to the box cease to be displayed. Any suggestions?

    OK guys here's an update. First I went to BIOS and updated the initial display setting to "LCD panel only" from "Auto". At first I thought it helped, because when I worked at the laptop without the external screen attached, the internal LCD panel resumed normally from off (previously this didn't work).
    But today while I was in the office with my external 19" LCD screen attached, and both of them went off after being idle for 10 minutes, the internal LCD panel didn't resume again. So I've tried the Fn + F5 key combination to switch between modes, and I switched from dualview back to single. The internal LCD panel blinked for a second and then turned off immediately, and from that moment on, I was without picture on both of them. SO I ended up hibernating and resuming again. :( An important note - as soon as the computer began hibernating, the LCD went on and I could see the whole progress of hibernation before it turned off.
    Also another note - when I'm in dualview, I always have keep the internal LCD panel as the primary screen. So unfortunately, when it doesn't resume, I don't have access to the taskbar etc to try more things...
    Any more thoughts?
    Thanks again!

  • GB, Itunes & Quicktime Won't Launch after update

    Hi,
    In desperate need for help. I just did some software updates on Garageband, iTunes and Quicktime on my G4 OS 10.3.9. Upon launching each, none of them are launching now. Help!!!!!

    Apperently, after trying different methods, I removed GB, iTunes and Quicktime from my CoreAudio Setup and now everything works. I was using Digi002 as a midi interface and monitoring. Everything used to work with that setup until I did a recent upgrade of Quicktime. I do think that something was changed in my computer when quicktime was upgraded.

  • Pismo won't boot after screen replacement?

    I just replaced the screen on one of my Pismos with the iFixit guide. Now, when I hit the power button, I get the boot chime and I hear the fan whir, but that's it. No hard drive noises and nothing on the screen. It won't boot off another Pismo in TDM and the iBook doesn't see it if I try to put it in TDM. I've tried reseating the processor and the hard drive. Anyone got any idea what I did wrong? This was my first computer surgery, I really don't want to lose my patient...

    pikacane:
    I've tried reseating the processor
    I suggest trying it again as it is the most frequent cause of the kind of non-startup you describe. With the keyboard and shield removed, remove the RAM module in the upper slot. Lift off the processor card. Replace processor card and press down with thumb(s) on the side toward palm-rest until you feel/hear the card snap into place. Press hard, don't be shy, you won't break it.
    If you are satisfied you have the processor card is properly seated and it still won't startup, please post back and let us know.

  • ITunes + Quicktime won't run after install

    I did an automatic upgrade to ITunes verson 8 from 7. After the upgrade, neither iTunes nor Quicktime would work. I then proceeded to do a complete uninstall of both items, to include deleting all directories and cleaning the registery so I could complete a fresh install of both items. After the fresh install, iTunes would work IF (and only if) it was started by the installation script. If I try to start iTunes after the installation, windows pops a window that says "Please wait while Windows configues iTunes," after which it prompts to restart the PC. This happens EVERY time. That is, iTunes will run ONE TIME correctly when it's started by the installation process at the conclusion of a fresh install, but it will not run again. Each time I get the windows message.
    Quicktime will not run at all. It gives the error message "Error 41: Could not load or find the QuickTime ActiveX control." However, I can open the Quicktime preferences from the Control Panel.
    I get no errors or any indications that the installation process had problems or that the items did not install correctly.
    I'm running 32-bit Vista with SP1.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Bump to top.
