Quicktime wont install or uninstall

i just finished reformatting my computer and was downloading stuff i needed. i downloaded quicktime from the apple website, but when i tried to watch .mov files i couldnt. i went to add/remove programs and was going to unistall from there but it is not listed. in my programs on my start menu quicktime and itunes are both there. when i click unistall from the start menu on quicktime nothing happens. i have tried deleting the files in the c: drive as well but it says quicktime is being used by another program i have also tried deleting the files using regedit. nothing will uninstall it. itunes doenst work either FYI.

I have windows 7 and itunes and windows 7 have been working great for over 5 months but just recently itunes stopped working. i cannot open itunes and i cannot download the most recent version because i says that it needs quicktime. Quicktime is installed on my computer. in fact i can't get quicktime uninstalled. i can download previous versions of itunes and install them but they wont open. i've tried following posted suggestions of uninstalling with the windows uninstall clean up but when i reinstall it still wont work. i've tried the thing were someone said to delete all my temp files except there is one file that won't delete : FXSAPIDebugLogFile.txt and i can't stop it to delete it cause i don't know what it is. What the hooch happened and how can i get my itunes back???

I FIXED IT. Ok so I don't know if this will work for everyone but this is what i did. First i made sure I uninstalled all apple thingy's in the control panel uninstall then downloaded the lastest version of itunes install before i installed it i did a search for all quicktime thingy's (i know i'm not all technicall about it) on c:drive and went through and deleted them it gave me a small problem by not showing that they were deleting but i transferred them to the trash bin and deleted it all. then i started the itunes install and let it go (of course giving it wishfull hopefull thoughts) it opened and is working great so far. So before your go through the other stuff if the problem with the new itunes is that the quicktime wont install do this first.

  • Itunes 7 and quicktime wont install

Neither itunes 7 or the latest quicktime will install since I recovered my system and installed all the latest windows updates. I get the ol' "installer incountered errors before itunes could be configured, try again at a later time." popup.
I tried EVERYTHING on the available list of things to try that I found on the message board. please help!

Well, I after reading for about an hour, I ran windows intstall cleanup utility and standalone installed quicktime, and now my itunes works! Thanks for the support!

  • Quicktime wont install..help!

My itunes wont work and seen in other threads that this is due to my quicktime not been installed properly. I have tried uninstalling current versions, reinstalling seperately and as with itunes and every way possible but the exe. install file just crashed halfway through and throws up a questionmark balloon? I dont think that the previous versions have uninstalled properly as there are still files showing if I do a file search but its not showing on the install/unistall control panel - please help - I just dont know what to do??

good gracious ... from your other post, i'm assuming that you had one of those strange ones where there were permissions for some accounts missing on the QuickTime keys? (i've seen that also associated with HKey errors on the installs.)
at any rate, i'm glad you're up and running again.

reboot your computer. open your task manager to the processes tab. now try to launch itunes again.

  • Itunes and Quicktime wont install

When I tried to update my iTunes and Quicktime recently, it succesfully downloaded, began installing, and once the progress hit Quicktime, and error showed "an older version of quicktime cannot be removed." Now the issue is, that before this happened, the update had already removed the older version of iTunes. However, it was unable to install the newest version due to this quicktime issue. So here I sit. Help?
    -D

once the progress hit Quicktime, and error showed "an older version of quicktime cannot be removed."
Most probably that's an issue with the installation database in the QuickTime.msi file.
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we need to hunt down a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for *at least version 3.0* of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes 9.2 again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • ITunes wont install or uninstall!!

I have an ipod touch 2nd gen and an ipod shuffle 2nd gen. But i am unable to use them with itunes. I then went to uninstall itunes but it doesnt work.
the problem seems to be related to the CD Configuration folder located in the program files part of itunes. the error message always has something to do with that folder in it saying "an error occoured while attempting to create the directory..." i am also unable to fully delete the itunes folder in program files as it says i do not have permission to delete the CD Config. folder. Thus meaning that when i go to reinstall itunes it has trouble removing sed folder.
I am logged in as an admin. and have full ownership of the Cdrive and its contents...
    Any help??
    Thanks in advance.

  • Quicktime wont install

We purchased two Nano Ipods for Xmas, my older son has an older classic Ipod for which we have an older version of Itunes.
We have tried to down load the new version of Itunes but keeps coming up with an error with Quicktime. The error message is something like 2250. We have deleted and retried, we have tried to download Quicktime by itself but then it just says unable to install dur to error try later.
    We are getting frustrated.
    Any ideas?

  • ITunes 7.0.2. wont install because Quicktime wont install

I've been trying to install iTunes 7.0.2 on my computer for WEEKS but the installation always encountered a problem: the programme always stopped just as it was computing Sapce requirements for Quicktime. An error message saying "Invalid drive: U:/" appeared and then "Cannot install QuickTime. ITunes requires Quicktime" or something like that. And then the installation aborted. There isnt a drive U: on my computer and I didn't understand why this was occuring.
My brother had been suffering from a similar problem, whereby installation always failed under the same circumstances only asking for a (valid) network path on another computer of his (it asked for //Computer/My Documents instead of U:) He managed to solve the error by connecting to the network path and re-running the installer.
The solution to my problem was much the same. I got a USB flashdrive, plugged it in an using the Disk Manager
(Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Manager Right click on the USB disk and select Change Drive letter) created a disk U:
    Problem solved.

I'm trying to figure out if this was a problem with my computer or something to do with the iTunes 7.0.2 installer.
My computer met all the system requirements (256RAM, 500MHz processor - I actually installed extra RAM to see if it would solve the problem!) when the problem was occuring. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem?

  • Itunes nor quicktime wont open on windows 7

my itunes nor quicktime wont open i uninstalled and installed itunes i tried disabling bonjour i added a new users i did a virus scan i am all out of ideas i need major help

    Many thanks.
I think we'd better see if some other application (other than QuickTime itself) has dropped old QuickTime componentry in the system files on the PC. (If there's a version mismatch between the old componentry and the "QuickTime proper" componentry, that can create those error-message-free launch failures for both iTunes and the QuickTime Player.)
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
    1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
    2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • New Laptop , I Tunes wont install

Downloaded intunes and it wont install because quicktime wont install
    HELP plz ?

Yeah, you're pointing in the wrong direction when you blame the issue on your iPod. Reference the KB article mentioned above, http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302335 and then check your windows user settings in the Windows Control Panel and then ensure that you are an Administrator of the computer. If not, login as one and uninstall/reinstall.
If that fails, check to ensure that the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service is running by typing "services.msc" (without quotes) in the Run menu (Start/Run/services.msc).
Lastly, try running the iTunes installer file after you have disconnected from the internet (physically un-plug the network cable from your computer if you're on DSL/Cable/LAN) then disabled your anti-virus software.
If these steps work for you, please let us know here on the forums. If not, we'll still try, but remember, this is an Apple forum, so to expect a lot of Windows answers may be like going to your barber for advice about your overbite.
    Hope this helps.
