QuickTime X and iTune pauses.

WHY QuickTime X and iTUNE PAUSES RANDOMLY??
Is this a bug or what? When i try to watch movie, it just pause randomly for about 3 - 5 seocnds. Now even my google chrome is pausing. This is totally painful and ridiculous. Why apple do not release and update for this ****?
FYI, i did all the possible fixes from installing clean Snow Leopard until installing codec and disk permissions.
Can someone from Apple reply on this issue?
Someone please tell me how to fix this problem, this is my first Mac and got totally disappointed.

You will be unlikely to get anybody from Apple to reply. If it's a bug one avenue for getting them to deal with it is to click on the 'Contact us' at the bottom of this page navigate to the lower part of the 3rd column on the page that opens and select the best choice for feedback. Give as much detail as you can about the problem. They won't usually respond to you directly but if they can replicate the problem they will include a correction in a later update.
Having said this it is possible that there is some corruption in the software which could be corrected with a re-install of the software. Unfortunately some installations don't install as perfectly as we would hope, especially if we don't follow the installation instructions completely - I'm not suggesting that you have done this, just another check to consider.

When downloading updated for Quicktime 7 and Itunes 10 I keep getting an error saying that files shared by these updates has an invalid signature and that the downloaded has been removed. If I don't get that message I get a message saying that the download was unsuccesful and that in order to download I need to go to tools and then select dowload only. Please help I really want to update my iphone!

Thanks for helping out, but I already tried these steps.
I even tried this on a iMac with similar results. The only difference was that the errorcode was called 2001 instead of 21.
Today I took the phone to www.iphoneambulancen.dk. A guy (in Aarhus, Denmark) that specializes in iPhone repairs. I figured, that given his occupation he'd seen most errorcdes. Two hours later, he called me back, and told me that he had replaced the battery.
So, it turns out that a broken battery can cause this behaviour.
    But thanks again

  • Quicktime 7 and ITunes Problems

I am a newbie and I downloaded the Quicktime 7 and Itunes 5.0 package. It installed correctly, but it won't let me open Itunes. It says I have Quicktime 6.5 and that I need QT 7 to run Itunes 5. Do I have to uninstall QT 6.5 before the QT7 download? I am at a loss. Someone please help!

I upgraded all three downloads - iTunes, Safari and QuickTime and was unable to open iTunes after install. I read through some of these suggestions ans I installed QuickTime again, but chose the second option -- WITHOUT iTunes. I did not UNINSTALL anything. And after doing this I was able to access iTunes again.

  • Audio Playback issues with quicktime 7 and iTunes - distorted sound

I was informed by my Soundcard manufacturer that Quicktime7 now requires a "real" WDM driver.
Many soundcards seems to have a "fake" WDM driver and this leads to chopped up sound that is completely distorted / garbled and impossible to listen to.
The fix is to downgrade to an older version of quicktime and iTunes.
I'm posting this because it was driving me crazy that there is no information on this in the support pages from Apple even if there are plenty of reported issues with audio playback. The system requirements from Apple does not mention the WDM driver either. I am not sure if this "true" WDM driver has to be "windows signed" and all unsigned drivers are "fake".
I'm sure the changed requirements has changed because of the need to address more audio channels but it would be great if the "safe mode" would accept "fake" WDM drivers.
I have also requested a driver revision from my soundcard manufacturer. We'll see...

By way of experiment, try updating your QuickTime Player to the most recent version.
Does that help with the iTunes problem?

  • Quicktime Publisher and iTunes

I am wondering if anyone knows if the playlists of audio and video that are generated in Quicktime Publisher can show up in my clients' iTunes copy?

Eventually used a media server (Firefly) for this purpose.

  • Installing quicktime and itunes

I am a newbie to this forum. I searched the forum and couldn't find the answer I was looking for so here is my question. When I try to open either iTunes or the Quicktime player I get a error message that reads "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." (it is one of those 'send error report' messages. Anyone who has windows has probably seen them before) Since it is happening with both Quicktime player and iTunes I can only assume that this is a problem with Quicktime. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times. Every time I try to uninstall Quicktime it tells me "a fatal error has occurred during installation" and never uninstalls. The only way I can uninstall is to just remove all the program files. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I need help.
I have done everything you have suggested in your trouble shooting article HT1926, Nothing works.

I have a laptop Aspire4520. I have the installer for QT with iTunes...because when I tried to use the other QT installer withough iTunes I got the same error message.
I am running as admin since I am the only one that uses this machine. Yes all I finally got a pc laptop...lol
The installer goes all the way through until it tries to set updating (i assume) and the error I get will not let me go further..options are to cancel then it all goes to the beginning and I have to quit.
    error:
there is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact support personnel or package vendor.
what do I do? I have already gotten rid of the temp folder that was mentioned in the docs listed for troubleshooting/ restarted and still it won't install.
Being a pc and no other apple software installed, how am i to get the apple updater that it seems to need?

  • Error with quicktime when installing itunes 6.0

hi, i've tried reinstall the new itunes many times but whenever it reaches the end of the installation, it says that there's an error installing quicktime (it says quicktime installation failed: error code: -3) and when i try to access itunes it says that it has performed an error and is closed.
i've tried http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93865 and the same problem still persists
    anyone knows what to do?

    http://www.techzonez.com/comments.php?shownews=15345
I have one solution for you.. I just also bought my Ipod VIdeo 60 GB 3 days ago and having problem with Quicktime 7.0.3.
Everytime I click on Itunes Icon on my desktop, it says you have older version of Quicktime 7.0.2, Itunes need 7.0.3 or later to be able to play Itunes, Please reinstall Itunes....I did reintalling adn uninstalling millions of times.. still it was the same problem.
Now what I recommend is to uninstall all Quicktime version and Itunes in your computer. Delete everytime you have... shutdown wait for couple of minutes and then go to the above site address I provided. Only download Quicktime alone. Do not download qiucktime and itunes together.. It is no good. And do not go to Apple site to download because it will download together.. That's not what we want. Download Quicktime 7.0.3 version for windows. After successful installation.. Only then Go to apple site and only download Itunes alone. This will work I guaranteed. Because mine is working now!!! Let me know the outcome.. Good luck!!

  • Upgrade of our 10.4.11 laptop to 10.5 is accomplished and we now need to upgrade Quicktime and iTunes; however, the user name and password is now not working after the upgrade to 10.5.

Object is to sync address and calendar between laptop with Max OS 10.4.11 and iPhone. Upgrade of our 10.4.11 laptop to 10.5 is accomplished and we now need to upgrade Quicktime and iTunes; however, the user name and password for the laptop is now not working after the upgrade to 10.5., though it was working prior to the upgrade, for file sharing.

@ BDAqua > I tried your suggestion but no luck. holding opt+command just gave me a blue screen and it rebotted, pushing the disk out of the drive. Yes, the macbook has 1 gb of ram. I realize that the min req. call for 2 gb of ram so i've got an order in for another dimm to put into the machine. Thanks for your suggestions.
@ a_brody > Yes. The machine was plugged into a power source. The disk promts you to do that and i recall aspect this form other installs. Thanks for the reminder tho! ( btw your second post is like greek to me man!)
@ Kuncklesmac > You're right about Snow Leopard being an upgrade from Leopard. I'm aware of this. And yes previously i've been told by Apple that I needed the Box Set (not the family pack.  i am using the family pack for OS Snow Leopard) to upgrade my 10.4.11 mac - they never mentioned adding ram but i figured that out on my own and an apple specialist recommended it when i purchased Snow Leopard and confirmed that I coul duse the Snow Leopard to upgarde from Tiger (10.4.11). I've also read extensively (as i said above) that it isn't necessary (always) to buy the box set. Several 10.4.11 users report having upgraded using the Snow Leopard upgrade disk only (not the Box Set) without trouble on intel macs (also see the apple link i posted). So i'm just ondering how they did it and i cannot.
    Thanks fo rall yor help!

  • Quicktime and itunes wont install. I have never had quicktime installed on my computer before

I recently bought an ipod touch 4g and realized that I needed itunes to activate it. After downloading itunes it wouldn't install, no error messages or anything, when I click on the installer it just doesn't do anything.
After downloading several versions of itunes (older versions) I finally found one that started to install. Then it told me that I need Quicktime on my computer in order for it to install. So I downloaded the latest version of quicktime and had the same problem, when I click on the installer, nothing happens. I tried downloading older versions of quicktime but still had the same problem.
I have never had quicktime or itunes installed on this computer before, so I know that it isn't an older version of the program hidden in my computer that is preventing the installation from happening.
My computer is running on Windows 7. I know that there wasn't a problem with downloading the software, the files weren't corrupted or anything. There are no error messages, the software doesn't even partially install. When I click on the installer, nothing happens. I have tried running the programs as an administrator and that doesn't change anything.
I have tried so many different things, but can't remember everything that I tried. Yesterday I spent nearly 10 hours trying to sort this out because I was determined to get my ipod running. I only stopped when my internet credit ran out and today after buying some more, I am trying again. Please help.

I appreciate the quick response, thank you for that.
One thing I did try was windows cleanup utility and searched through the program files for all apple software, but had none. I even deleted the temp files on my computer, and on my internet browser, but nothing happened.
One thing that I didn't think of was deleting the installation files in my downloads folder, pretty silly of me but I didn't think it would make a difference. I also spent about 2-3gig on downloads yesterday and didn't want to delete the files but as a last resort I did and emptied my recycle bin, then downloaded a fresh copy of Quicktime and finally it installed!
Now I am in the process of downloading a fresh copy of iTunes, the download hasn't finished yet so I haven't had a chance to install it yet but I have a much better feeling about it this time after deleting all the old installation files from my downloads folder. If Quicktime worked after that, I am sure iTunes will.
I can't believe it was something so simple as deleting the installation files in my downloads folder and emptying the recycle bin. I had seriously gone through my entire computer looking for any little file that was related to Quicktime or iTunes. I didn't even think of the two most obvious places. I spent so much time and credit downloading multiple files and my computer even got a virus when trying to download a copy from an unauthorized source, I had no problem getting rid of the virus, but struggled with Quicktime and iTunes, that is why I got so frustrated! I feel like an idiot now :-P
Thank you for your help. I still havent installed iTunes yet, so fingers crossed. I think it will work now though.

  • Quicktime and iTunes Won't Open after updating to iTunes 7.3.1

So this morning I downloaded iTunes 7.3.1, but I winged it as usual. And I only winged it because the option to upgrade was in Korean, and for some reason I can't change it to English. But anyway, I updated as usual and my computer restarted. Then I tried to open up iTunes and I got a error report. And it took me to a Windows Error Reporting and said the problem was my hard drive. And said to go to run, type in EVENTVWR, and double click on application and than double click on an event ID of 1005. That didn't work, so of course my iTunes and Quicktime(which won't install even after I tried to repair it) arn't having a temp. problem. So I tried the second solution and typed in CMD after I clicked run. And then a black window popped up and I was suppose to type in chkdsk /f, but when I tried to start typing the window just closed itself. And after I got home this evening, I tried opening iTunes and it said to reinstall iTunes and I did. So I tried opening it agains after I reinstalled it, and the same error popped up and quicktime still will not open.
So any suggestions on what to do?

Okay. That's looking like a badly broken QuickTime (although it's not the most common message people see under those circumstances).
So we'd better try swapping out your existing QuickTime. Since it's giving you "fatal errors", it's unlikely that you'll be able to use Add/remove Programs to uninstall it. So we'll try getting it out of there by other means.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC (Run CleanUp, find "QuickTime in the entries in CleanUp, select the QuickTime entry and click "Remove"):
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • Quicktime and iTunes "quit unexpectedly" when I try to open them

I'm getting an error message whenever I try to open either Quicktime or iTunes saying that the application quit unexpectedly. The error report (for both Quicktime and iTunes) says (amongst other things):
    Exception: EXCBADACCESS
    Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE
Thread 0 Crashed with PPC thread state 64
    Anyone any ideas? Thanks.

Please post the crash report here so we can view it and offer help.

  • 10.6, quicktime, and itunes on a macbook pro 2.53 w/ 4gb ram and ssd

    Hi,
I am experiencing something extremely weird, and extremely frustrating...
What I am experiencing is that after I've been using my system for a while, I will launch quicktime, and I will get the spinning ball forever.. If I launch iTunes it will just bounce on my dock forever and not launch.
Then I have to reboot, which is sometimes impossible to do, so I will have to manually tell my system to shutdown via the terminal.
When my mac reboots, everything is fine.. Quicktime launches, iTunes launches, happy world...
... So I thought it was perhaps something that I was doing (applications that I was running, websites I was visiting etc.), but now I have evidence that it's not. Which is even more confusing. Last night, a friend wanted me to pull up something on quicktime-- I got the spinning ball.. Said "ugh, I don't understand what is up with my system". Clicked restart.. It wouldn't restart.. lauched terminal.. sudo shutdown -h now... Ok.. it's off.. turn it on.. Launch quicktime.. hooray.. there's the video..
Ok-- That was the extent of me using my computer. I left it on after that for many hours.. and eventually closed the laptop.
In the morning, opened it up.. Clicked quicktime, and.. SPINNING BALL. Had to reboot.
so, the only thing I can think is that something is occurring inactivity, or sleep, something that is causing QT and iTunes to mess up... I tried doing various tests, but could not come up with anything. I tried just running my screensaver for a while, but quicktime still comes up no problem.
Very frustrating.. I want to know if anyone else is experiencing this, and if there are any suggestions for what I should do. I have zapped p-ram, I have repaired permissions...

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    1. That's a risk, and more in a MacBook Pro, that has got everything soldered except the hard drive and memory.
    2. If you want performance, buy a SSD. It will get the best performance but they are expensive, so you should consider the option to buy a SSD with a small capacity to store OS X and applications and an external disk for other data.
    3. SSDs are much better than hard disk drives because they haven't got mechanical parts. You will notice this difference in read and write tasks like a startup, that will be much faster. However, in other tasks, it doesn't mind if you have a HDD or a SSD, because performance depends on the processor and graphic card. Also, you will notice a difference with a 7200 rpm hard disk.
    4. You can take it to an Apple Store or reseller to see what they can do in order to repair your computer

  • Quicktime and itunes will not open error message

I think their is suppose to be two files (QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx) in the systems 32 folder. But there is a quick.ime also in the folder, do I delete it so that my quicktime and itunes work.

No, quick.ime is not part of Quicktime. Don't delete it.
If Quicktime will not open, then iTunes can't work.
Can you give the Quicktime error message in full, and also check in your Windows error logs or Problems & solutions to see if there is more information there.
You haven't given your Windows version which helps when troubleshooting.

  • Quicktime  and Itunes will not launch!

Both quicktime and itunes come up with errors whenever I try to lauch them. I have tried nearly EVERYTHING and they will not start! This is quicktime error-
Quicktime Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Error signature is BEX

Interesting. In that case, the errors are probably being caused by the absence of the two files I mentioned earlier. Haven't seen one of those for a while.
We'd better swap out your existing QuickTime. We'll take a few additional explicit precautions along the way, just in case.
First, download and save a fresh copy of the QuickTime installer (QuickTimeInstaller.exe) to your hard drive. (Don't run the install online, and don't start the install from the downloaded installer just yet. Use the download option that doesn't mention iTunes.)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Now head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel. Uninstall QuickTime.
Next we'll clear away any leftover QuickTime program files or folders.
In "My Computer" open "Local Disk C:" or whichever drive your program files are installed on.
    Open the "Program files" folder.
Right-click on the "QuickTime" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Empty your recycle bin and restart the PC.
After the PC restarts, do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the reinstall by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Did the QuickTime install seem to go through properly? If so, are iTunes and QuickTime launching for you now?

  • Quicktime and itunes problem

when i try to uninstall quicktime it says that there is a fatal error and wont uninstall! anyone know what i can do to get quick time completely off my computer? ive tried deleting the two files and all that. when i install the new itunes, i try to open it and it just says a error has happend and itunes must close thats all. anyone have any ideas would be great thanks

I'm having issues with Quicktime as well. I tried downloading iTunes 7. Got that done, rebooted, didn't work. Said I needed quicktime 7.1.3 - so i went to the site to download the new quicktime + iTunes. Quicktime is working, I checked for updates - says there are no updates available. iTunes is STILL telling me it won't run without quicktime 7.1.3 - quicktime is telling me that I already HAVE version 7.1.3.
I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling several times, the same error keeps happening. I would give up if I hadn't already spent so much money on iTunes in the previous version. Really the only reason I want it is for the easy way to backup my iTunes... that and I no longer have the old version, new version deleted it. headesks Help please?
