Quicktime X does not recognize Chapter Markers

I am exporting media in Quicktime format with H.264 codec.
I have three markers labeled as Encore Chapter Markers.
When I open the rendered .mov file in Quicktime Player 7, there are three chapters at the correct timecodes (0:03, 0:18, 0:33).
When I open the rendered .mov file in Quicktime X, there are three chapters all at the first chapter’s timecode: 0:03.
Why is this not working?
I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 6.0.2 on Mac OS X 10.8.4.

For those with a similar problem, I read somewhere on the Apple forums that Metadata Hootenanny will add chapter tracks that appear correctly in QuickTime X. http://www.applesolutions.com/bantha/MH.html
I can confirm it works for me!!!! The chapter tracks show up in Metadata Hootenanny just fine, so it’s a matter of importing the file and saving it again with Chapter Track enabled. Yayayayay!

  • Compressor does not recognize chapter markers

I have exported my FCP timeline with chapter markers to a self-contained QT file.
I have enabled the text track in the QT file. Now I want to encode the QT file to MPEG-2 with the chapter markers. But I don't see any markers in Compressor? I only see the enabled text track...
Any help greatly appreciated - I must use forced I-frames due to the accuracy of placing the chapters on the final DVD.

I just ran into this problem today myself. It's unbelievable; I get so tired of Apple programming methods!! Do they even test or use these things before they release them so things make sense to the end user?

  • IDVD does not recognize chapters

    Using iDVD '08 (7.0.2) on OS X 10.5.4, iMac 24" 2.8GHz C2D.
I created a video using FCP 5.1.4 and exported to QT Movie. I did not "Make Movie Self-Contained." I did select "All Markers" to be exported (I made sure to also create the <CHAPTER> tag for each marker). When I view the resulting movie in QT Player, I can see the chapter markers (there are two). However, when importing into iDVD, no chapter submenus are created (I am using the "Forever" theme), and pressing the chapter forward/back buttons in the preview player just take me to the end/beginning of the video, respectively.
Any idea what is wrong here, and how I can get a chapter submenu to be created? Thanks for any assistance.

Final Cut Studio: "All Markers" option does not include DVD Chapter Markers at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1233 says it all "When you export a QuickTime movie from Final Cut Pro, choosing the "All Markers" option does not include chapter markers that will function in DVD Studio Pro or iDVD."
When having problems, checking the Apple Knowledge Base is always the best first step.

  • Compressor H.264 not exporting Chapter Markers

I am still struggling to see chapter markers show up in DVD Studio Pro using compressor & H.264. Compressor outputs the Chapters markers when using MPEG2. My understanding is that this should be automatic.

  • "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. itunes does not recognize my iPhone4.

I decided it was time to resync the music on my iPhone since its been months. I begin the sync and after a minute or so, my iTunes suddenly does not recognize my iPhone and freezes. I honestly have no idea what happened but was undaunted.
OS is MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1
    Now, after trying:
    - updating to iTunes 10.6.3, which stops installing after a popup saying "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. With the options Abort Retry or Ignore. Retry does nothing. Ignore allows iTunes to install but it doesn't recognize my phone still which is all I care to use iTunes for.
    - uninstalling all iTunes, Apple, Quicktime, and Bonjour software, which was difficult to do since you have to follow a particular order or else they wont actually uninstall.
    - performing a registry clean using CC Cleaner
    - wiping my compter's apple related Temp files in app data..
    - restarting with a clean boot... updating all drivers.. updating windows..
    I am becoming quite daunted.
I have done essentially every single thing I could find that might resolve this error. I restarted and tried again (this is the third or maybe four time) and it still will not install.
I cannot get any third party software to recognize the phone either since I need that Apple Mobile Device. I could always sync my library with Spotify but that's cumbersome and makes me not like my beautiful iPhone.
Any help would be AMAZING. I've run out of ideas.

The link above is bad... that account has been suspended.
Just an FYI, I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and had just downloaded Itunes 10.7 for this platform.
Please know that I have NEVER plugged any Apple device into this great computer.
I have the new Iphone 5 READY to plugin and in ANTICIPATION of installing that phone; I first wanted to start by installing Itunes without any hardware potentially messing up the works.
I have the exact same problem as reported here and in about 100 places here at Apple.  Please note this system has never seen ANY of these apple applications including quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour, or anything else from Apple for that matter.
So basically, I'm stuck.  I've read the articles at about 20 sites now and it looks like this is a SEVERE and widespread problem; however, I have yet to find a "real" solution.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.  I'm an IT/Telecom Expert and it took me 3 hours to get the Iphone 5 setup and working properly (mainly because of the screen not working sideways for 95% of the configuration options and being forced to fat finger settings) including everything working with Icloud hosted contacts, facebook, a few networks and getting my gmail out of the way (of Icloud and facebook) and finally getting everything rocking, only to hit the wall when it came to Itunes.  Kind of a drag if you ask me.  (I'm thinking the Samsung Galaxy III that I returned to get this thing might have been less grief; but I guess we'll see).
Anyone with a real fix, please reply!  I could use the help BEFORE I try to plug this phone into my computer!
    Thanks!

  • Windows does not recognize ipod whatsoever

    This is so frustrating.
I just bought a new ipod video after giving up on my old ipod.
Windows does not recognize the new ipod at all, not even as an extra drive. I'm tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything, restoring the ipod, connecting to different ports. No such luck. I've read up on the past posts concerning this problem with no luck.
    Can anyone help me?

    here's a bit here's what microsotft says:
To resolve this problem, delete the UpperFilters registry value and the LowerFilters registry value. These values may cause access problems. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit , and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the UpperFilters registry value. This value is located in the following registry subkey:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E980-E325 11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
    4. Locate and then click the LowerFilters registry value. This value is located in the following registry subkey:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10 318}
    5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
    6. Exit Registry Editor.
    7. Restart the computer.
it worked perfectly for me!make sure to follow the directions. it's easy and resolves many Windows XP problems related to ipods. for more info try microsoft help and support and just serch for ipod. it list a bit more info there. it doesn't say anything about reinstalling the apple software, but just to be thorough i unistalled itunes and quicktime before anything just to start with a clean slate, then reinstalled them from my ipod disk after the restart. then i downloaded all the updates from apple. my ipod has never worked better. good luck. theres no link to the page just search for ipod in windows help and support for exact wording

PROBLEM: 5G iPod not recognized in iTunes (shows as removable hard drive in My Computer) via USB on HP Pavilion Notebook running WinXP. Latest error states insufficient power to run hi speed USB device on this computer. HP support replies that installed USB should comply to 480 Mbps hi speed standard. Trying to connect iPod via firewire results in "iPod can not be connected with firewire" error. Have tried the following steps before reaching this point:

Action: Reset iPod (iPod works fine when not connected to any computer).
    Result: same as above
Action: Recharged iPod overnight with wall outlet to confirm full charge.

Action: Tried to connect by firewire
Result: Error this device cannot be connected by IEEEE use USB cable.
Action: Talked to HP support to confirm USB standards on Pavilion Notebook.
Result: USB should read all 3 standard data speeds up to hi speed 480 MBps
Action: Tried 5G iPod on 2 other PC desktops with WinXP with powered USB 2.0 ports
Result: iPod shows "Do not disconnect" iTunes does not recognize iPod and both computers respond with the following error (which is not received on the notebook) "insufficient power to run hi speed USB device on this computer" both Desktops are older than the Notebook and have older versions of USB 2.0.
Action: Tried it on my iMac G4 thinking I could reformat it. Mac understandably does not read it as a drive. I tried the following three connections:
    1) Firewire connection: iPod screen shows: firewire connection is not supported; 2) Powered USB port connection: drive is not recognized by Mac and iPod screen shows do not disconnect; 3) Unpowered USB port connection returns an error of "USB Low power notice" on Mac monitor and iPod screen shows menu but won't connect to Mac.
    QUESTIONS:
Has the 5G iPod reached a point where it now pulls too much power to be read by USB? Is HP not giving me correct specs regarding the performance of the Notebook's USB? Why can I update my iPods with firewire on my Mac but not the PC? Any suggestions regarding what I should try next?
    Thanks.
HP Pavilion dv notebook Windows XP

Solution was found: HP was encountering a conflict with a trial version of Symantec Security Center and Norton Anti-Virus causing an incomplete install of iTunes.
The following actions resolved the problem. Uninstalled both Symantec applications, uninstalled QuickTime 6*, installed QuickTime 7.1.3 (iTunes would not install successfully prior to this step, seems redundant but worked), installed iTunes 7.1 (with Quicktime 7.1.3 again), connected iPod 5G which was finally recognized, received error that iPod was currupted, restored iPod and is now working fine.
I hope that this helps someone else with similar video iPod problems.

  • HT3258 what about final cut does not recognize mts file

what about final cut does not recognize mts file

If you have an AVCHD camcorder, you need to select one of the AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec Easy Setups in FCE that matches how you shot the video in your camcorder.  (eg, AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i60 would be appropriate for camcorders produced for North America unless you selected some other video type in the camera's setup.)   After selecting the appropriate Easy Setup, create a new sequence then import the video from your camcorder.
If you only have the .mts files themselves (perhaps because you copied them to your hard drive without their entire surrounding AVCHD folder structure), that's another matter.  In that case you need Clipwrap or similar app to transcode the .mts files to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec before importing them into FCE.   You still need to have the correct easy setup in FCE.
It would help to know exactly what make/model camcorder you have, and what model Mac and versions of OS X and QuickTime.

  • IMovie does not recognize MPEG 4

I have downloaded a 131 MB MPEG 4 movie and am trying to import it into iMovie on my iMac.
I have done this successfuly lots of times before.
I have the latest version of iMovie.
For some reason iMovie says it does not recognize this MPEG 4 movie!
I have tried playing it in Quicktime and exporting it into iMovie and nothing happens either.
    Any ideas?

    Thank you for your suggestions.
Quicktime player plays the movie fine. I even try expoting it from there to iMovie which does not work.
    The file info:
    MPEG-4Movie
    Size 84,774,813 bytes.
    Dimension 626x352**
    Codecs: H.264,AAC
The only difference I can see from similar Movies that worked are the dimensions.
They are 640 x 360 on my other MPEG 4 movies!

Will iDVD 08 recognize chapter markers from FCE 3.5 HD?
    Thanks, Ed

A qualified "yes". Meaning it should work as stated but in practice there are some issues. There are fewer issues with FCE => iDvd6 than there currently are with iLife'08. I don't have a good explanation for this.
Btw, this is strictly an observation on my part from reading this forum. Keep in mind I do not own / work with FCE but rather with FCP => DVDSP as well as with apple's i-Apps.
