Quicktime X Player playing unsynched in slowmo

Just installed Snow Leopard, and my Quicktime X Player won't play most of the movies on my computer. They are playing in slow motion, and are unsynched with sound. These MPEG4/ Quicktime movies played fine yesterday under Leopard.
Help!

Maybe QT X player is just crapola. I went into my Utilities folder, and drug out QT 7 player to use.

Select one of those files, CMD+I, select QT 7 from the Open With list, and then click the Change All button. Repeat for any in the format class you want to change.

  • Quicktime Player play mov issue

    Hi
Why Quicktime Player play mov have wave line?and MPlayer play is look fine.

a very old version of Final Cut, Final Cut Express HD 3.0 ... I bought a Nikon D3100 DSLR
The Nikon D3100 records video as H.264/MPEG-4 AVC.   This is not usable in FCE.  You will need to convert the video to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec in order to edit the video  in FCE.  Try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the video clips from your D3100.  Also, before importing the converted clips into FCE, select one of the FCE Easy Setups that matches how you shot your video ... 1920x1080i60 for example ... create a new sequence and then import the converted clips.
That said, I think you may still run into some issues with such an old version of FCE.  FCE 3.0 only supported DV and HDV video, neither of which exactly matches what your D3100 can do.  You will be better off upgrading to Final Cut Pro X, the current version of Final Cut.

  • Adding a Quicktime Media Player to a page that can play from a list of links

I'm on a Mac G4 window front tower running OS X 10.4.11. I am using Adobe GoLive 7.2. and Quicktime player 7.6. The project I am involved in entails linking a group of Quicktime movies to a Quicktime media player on the same page. I can handle the linking, but HOW DO I GET THE QT MEDIA PLAYER ON THE PAGE?
    Please help.

Yes, it is doable. This page has some pics that will help.

The second drive will sit on top of the first one.
The jumpers have to be set on both drives for "cable select". Each drive has a diagram to show how the jumpers are arranged.
You need four screws to hold it in place.
The ribbon cable has two connectors, one for each.
The four pin power cable has to be connected to each drive.
When you boot, the Mac will mount both drives. You can erase the new one and proceed from there.

Is this a Yosemite issue? Not being able to play older QuickTime 7 files properly? I'm not sure what else the issue could be since everything seems to work fine in 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 (unfortunately, I have been unable to test this in 10.10 or 10.10.1). Maybe I'm overcomplicating a simple issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Some very interesting observations which peaked my own curiosity due to on-again, off-again nature of the playback. I suspect this is either a "bug" or represents content handling changes that are currently in the process of  "evolving." Not a web site programmer so I used iWeb to run some contrast-comparison tests on how audio was handled by the plug-in software when directly accessing the content by its URL and via the page embed strategies. My results mirrored yours in that:
    1) All legacy codecs tested (A-Law, IMA, QDM2, QPV, and u-Law) in an MOV file container played correctly in the QT 7 player.
    2) The same files all played correctly when content was accessed by the plug-in software directly using the URL reference.
    3) None of the files containing legacy audio compression formats would play audio using the plug-in software using a web page embedding strategy.
    4) An MP4 (H.264/AAC) version of you original clip played correctly in all instances.
    5) Replacing your QDM2 audio track with an AAC audio track in the original MOV file allowed the file to play correctly in all instances.
Based on these observations, I suspect the problem is in the way the software is currently programmed to handle (or rather ignore) the embedded strategy content. However, as you indicated, it is probably time to update your files. Not only did the H.264/AAC version of your original file play in all instances, but it used less than 45% of the file space/bandwidth for the settings I employed as compared to your original "0706_split_brain_red.mov" original file.

  • My quicktime can't play avi file

HI everyone does someone know why my latest quicktime can't play avi file?

Let me tell you what are you doing wrong...
you just followed the wrong road try this one instead and you will love it.
*1st of all*: Dont pay attention to QuickTime, no matter what movie you want to view
just download and install VLC Media Player and your worries about formats, video codecs, audio codecs, multi zone dvd reproduction will be over in a sec!
just "open as" > VLC Media Player and you will see everything and if you have a subtitle file, just drag it into the movie

I recently purchased QuickTime 7 Pro to convert avi files to mov files for editing on Imovie. However, QuickTime won't play the files. How can I get them to play and how can I convert them to mov files?
Both the AVI and the MOV file extensions refer to the file container and not the compressed data the file contains. Both are generic file containers in that each may contain any valid combination of audio and/or video data that is compatible with the codec component configuration of the system on which the file was created. On the other hand, whether a file is playback compatible, conversion compatible, and/or edit compatible depends on the data actually contained in the file container. So, you are basically dealing with two separate issues here—the container and what is inside it.
Basically, if you want to make your files ediit compatible with iMovie, you must change your file container to one that is acceptable to iMovie and convert the data to edit compatible audio and/or video compression formats as may be necessary. The best approach is to determine what codecs were actually used to create the original AVI files and add them to your system if possible. In most cases a codec package like Perian can be added to your system's codec component configuration to may the AVI file playable. Once they are playable, in the QT 7 app then they can be chnged or converted to file types and compression formats that can be edited in iMovie. (While Perian handles most codecs commonly used to create AVI files, it does not handle all possibilities and, while the Perian codec package still works under cureent Mac OS versions, its development group has decided to drop further development/support of the package.)
Background: AVI is a file container originally developed by Microsoft back in 1992 but for which official support was discontinued about 11 years. Despite its limitations, Windows users still tend to use this file based on its open source ease of use and generic nature, thus, making its use so popular that most users are unwilling to switch to more modern but less generic file types. Since some AVI legacy compression formats have never been transcoded for the Mac or use beyond OS 9 or OS X PPC platforms, it is often important to know what specific compression formats are contained in the AVI file to know which codecs to add to your system and which not to add in order to avoid possible codec conflicts.
You can use many different converters to convert AVI files to iMovie edit compatible files. Most third-party apps contain their own buit-in codecs which do not relay on the Mac codec component configuration. Free ones, like HandBrake, usually have limited conversion capabilities while those that have more varied outputs are usually commercial in nature and will cost you additional cash. QT 7 Pro or the free MPEG Streamclip app allow you to access you own system's component configuration and use any available codec component like DV, AIC, MPEG-4, H.264, Photo JPEG, etc.—all of which are iMovie compatible for editing purposes—but only after making the AVI file QT 7 player compatible.
In order to determine what compression formats wewre used in your AVI files you can
    1) Try checking the Finder "Info" window,
    2) Use the "Inspector", "Media Info", or "Properties" window of any player app that will open the file, or
    3) Use a general media utility app like "MediaInfo" to read the file characteristics.

    Hi,
The only thing I can think of suggesting is to download the Full Feature installer on the link below and save it to your Desktop.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL29976/al-74809-1/DJ_AIO_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe
When the download has completed, right click the installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  Do not connect the PC to the printer until the software asks you to.
    Hope this helps.
    Best wishes,

  • Can Quicktime Pro 7 play dvcpro hd files?

    I have a Macbook Pro os x 10.5.7.
I have Quicktime Pro player 7.6.2
I have been trying to play .mov files that are dvcpro hd files converted from Final Cut. Sound only, no video. A window pops up when I go to play the file that says, "Additional software is required to play this media. It may be available from the quicktime components page." But of course it doesn't say what and on that page I couldn't find anything that seemed to manage this issue.
After all my research I learned that I may not be able to play those files without Final Cut, however, I just played them on my brothers macbook pro, etc (same deal as my machine) and they played. The only difference was in his Quicktime preferences there was a reference to Final Cut color at the bottom of the box. He doesn't have Final cut on his machine and we have the same version Quicktime.
So, is there a codec or something I'm missing to get these files to play? Please help...been searching for an answer for hours to no avail and I really need to get into these files.
    thanks
    C

That's always an option and I've thought about it but my brother's computer is not always available (like now as he has left the premises with it) and I really want to try to work out this kink. Sorry, I didn't say that I actually need to edit these videos and I don't want to lose quality either by converting them to something that may not have the hd great quality they have now.
He does not have FCP and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have Color either. And I found out that he actually has an older operating system than me. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks...really appreciate your time!

  • How can we make quick time player play all formats like AVI, MKV, MPEG etc?

How can we make quick time player play all formats like AVI, MKV, MPEG etc?

QuickTime supports many different file types & codecs, but not all.   In many cases you can lookup, download & install specific codecs if you need them.
    The following may be helpful:
    Perian
    QuickTime: About Playing AVI Files
QuickTime X: Playback of MPEG2 video
QuickTime 7.6.6  (you may need this if QT X won't play old videos)
QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component (for QT 7.x)

  • How do get a QuickTime movie to play?

I have a QuickTime movie on one of my web pages. It is located here: http://www.bagsnaggers.com/ourhistory.html
It seems to play fine on Macs, which I use and where I created it, but I have been looking at some Windows computers and it doesn't seem to play. I can get other QuickTime movies to play on them, so I know QuickTime is installed; other movies seem to open automatically and start to play. But on Windows machines, when I click my movie nothing happens. There's a little icon in the corner, but right-clicking, option-clicking, etc. does nothing. I have asked friends with Windows and QuickTime to see if they can play it, but no luck. Can anyone tell me how I should put the movie up on my page so that people who have Windows with QuickTime can play it? Many thanks for help.

If you encode the video for Flash, the most common format used on YouTube, then people will be able to view the video as long as they have Flash Player installed. Without Flash, they can't see YouTube videos, so there's still something that some people may have to install. More and more videos, particularly those intended for playback on iPhones, are using h.264, so you may just want to tell people that they need QuickTime 7 to play your videos. Your choice, of course.

Hi...I have the OS X v10.6.8 but my QuickTime is not playing .mov files. How can I fix this?
Depends of the specific kind of file you are trying to play. MOV refers to the file container. Any data compatible with the system used to create the file can be placed in an MOV file. If you don't have the same codecs available on your computer to play back the file or if your version of the QT player does not expect expect the encoded data to be in an MOV file container, then it cannot/will not play the file. Use the Finder Info window, media player Inspector/Information window, or a dedicated utility to determine what compression formats were used to create the MOV file and then install the required codec(s) if available.

    Hey Everyone
Ok say i have a movie on a web page which is playing, and the user switches to another tab or browser window, is there anyway to tell quicktime to stop playing if this happens?

    No.
Unless the browser has that feature.

Hello there - I am sharing an iPhoto library across two accounts on the same computer - it works fine EXCEPT for Quicktime movies - they play on one account and claim I don't have the rights on the other - all permissions are on and ok?

It should be in the Users/ Shared folder.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Note the option to check and repair Library Permissions

  • Itunes and quicktime unable to play music files

I have an Apple Mac mini (Intel Core Duo - 1.66GHz, 1.25 GB RAM) that I just upgraded to Snow Leopard.
After upgrading, itunes (newest version) won't play any audio files (aac, mpg, aiff). Neither will the new version of quicktime (x).
The older version of quicktime (7) will play the files, as will VLC.
Is this a bug, or was I not supposed to install Snow Leopard on a machine this old?
Has anyone else run into this type of problem?

As M has noted, the more info that is presented in the question the quicker you will get a constructive answer. No one can read anothers mind. It is an art to write what ones thought are.
I will assume that you mean "default" as being your internal speakers. To change your sound output - assuming that is your question - go to System prefs and select SOUND. If there are any other sound output options then it would be listed and you can make your selection of speakers.
