Quiet beep of iphone 5

My iphone 5 just started quietly, almost inaudibly, beeping ever 15 seconds. It is fully charged.  Can't find  a reason or source,
Anyone have any ideas?

What have you done to troubleshoot this? First steps are restart (power phone off/on) and reset, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, see if you are still experiencing this beep.

  • Imac emits 2 quiet beeps  NOT at Startup

So my Imac is running just fine as normal but every now and again it emits a quiet 'beep-beep.'
Have checked the console and nothing's showing up around the time of the beeps so I really haven't a clue what it is.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Mike

The power on self-test resides in the ROM of the computer. This test runs whenever the computer is turned on after being fully shut down (the power-on self-test does not run if the computer is only restarted).
If a fault is detected during the test, you will not hear a normal startup chime. Instead, the system will beep as explained below. If you experience one of these beeps, you may call your Apple Authorized Service Provider for additional troubleshooting assistance.
1 beep = no RAM installed

2 beeps = incompatible RAM types

3 beeps = no good banks

4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)

5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.

  • Very High Pitched and Super Quiet beep/sound from DV6

They seem to make a new DV6 every year but This one is mine.
I've had this notebook since September and its awesome. But there is a very annoying issue I have always had with it. When I'm using it in a very quiet environment I can hear it emit a high pitched beep type sound every second. Its extremely quiet but its one of those sounds your brain suddenly notices and you can't stop hearing it - like when some old CRT monitors and tube TV's are left on. I usually only hear it when the PC is idle or doing very basic tasks like I'm doing now typing this. I thought for sure it was something else in my home for the first month until I was using the notebook someplace else and heard the same annoying sound. When I put my ear up to the notebook I can hear it better and that its somehow tied with the fan. I can hear the fan barely slow down by probably 5%, then that beep and the fan speeds up again. This happens continuously until I'm not idle. Anyone else notice this? My motherboard was replaced a month ago (It randomly died) but nothing changed.

Seems to be normal "CPU whine". Nothing can really be done about it. I've just been lucky with my notebooks in the past not having a whine. I set my networked storage a little closer to where I sit and it cancels out the CPU whine.

  • Headphone jack too quiet in replacement iPhones

The lock screen button on my original iPhone started sticking, so I took it to the warranty service. They decided to replace it with a new one.
The problem with the new unit was that the headphone jack was too quiet, and the phone was thinner. We verified this by comparing it to two other original 4S units.
For sound, we used the the same track and the same headphones on all phones. You can really hear that my new replacement was at least twice as quiet. And yes, we've made sure all the settings and iOS / app versions are identical.
As for the thickness, we tried my Olloclip on all the phones, and it straight up falls off the replacement unit, while holding firmly on the other ones. Also, made sure there were no screen protectors on either side of the iPhones.
So, there you go, two of the main use cases for me are now impossible - photography and music.
Took it back to the service. They confirmed the faults and replaced the phone again. With a unit with both of the same problems. When confronted again, they now declined, claiming the defects are not there. So on two separate occasions the service first confirmed, and then declined the very same faults.
Has this happened to anyone? How do you go about this? Are the replacements sent by apple supposed to be like that?

FYI, I bought the Griffin AutoPilot in order to hook our 4g nano to our car stereo and I didn't need the included audio cable. However I put it to use with our speakers in our bedroom which are simple ones that don't directly support the iPod. With the cable that came with the speakers we had this problem - couldn't plug in a dock cable and the audio cable at the same time. The audio cable that came with the AutoPilot has a much slimmer connector and it does the trick.

  • Help!  Imported songs are quiet on the iphone

    So here is my problem:
When I import my own cds through itunes, it is the same volume as all the previous music I already had on my computer. When played in itunes, the volume is normal (I even tested it with windows media player and the volume is normal).
However, when I play the song back on my iphone it is severely quieter compared to other non-cd imported songs. There is a significant difference in the volume. I have already checked the song preference in itunes and the db setting has not been altered.
Has anyone heard of this problem before? I would really prefer to not import all my music through WMP instead.

Nevermind: I turned sound check off in the settings and all my songs are now the same volume. I tried turning it back on and it was quiet again. Hope this helps others.

  • Loud Beep On Iphone

I looked all over for this answer and I think I figured it out, I have my calendar and reminders connected to my Facebook and other social media things...once I turned the sound off for the notifications and reminder which everyday always has something on it from a bday to a appointment I have not heard one beep try it turn it off and if it works pass it on....let me know...

Sorry, I was looking for a cause to the beeping on my iPhone and I looked through a lot of the question on the forum and no one seemed to have a definitive answer, and once I did more research I beleive the answer is the reminders I have for my calendar it was set to my social media and I was having the beeps on different time of the day that being said I turned off the sound to those reminders and so far so good....My question is has anyone else found this to be the solution because as of the last 2 days I have not had a beep.....

  • Macbook Won't Boot, Makes Quiet Beeps

My friend's Macbook 2.0ghz will only go to the gray screen with the apple, and occasionally make long beeping noises. One thing I noticed is that the optical drive doesn't make its normal startup sound. I booted with an external hard drive and it worked fine. However, the main HD also shows up, so it means that it's not dead?
I've ran TechTool Deluxe on it and it has failed the Directory Scan and the Volume Structure test. Furthermore, TTD can't repair it. Do you guys think it's a dead hard drive? Thanks!

    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from the OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
If the SMART status is not "Verified" then the drive needs replacing. If the above procedure does not work then the drive needs replacing.

  • When I plug in my iphone to connect to the computer and I wiggle the cord, the computer repeatedly beeps until I stop moving the cord.

Either the cable needs to replaced or there is a problem with your USB port.

  • Very quiet constant beep on forced shutdown

I dont know what just happened - but on startup my mouse froze and the puter hung - i couldnt even ctrl-alt-del.  So it used the reset button, that didnt work so i hit the off switch until it shut down.  After the fans had stopped i was aware of a very quite constant beeping that definately came from the computer - where i dont know and i certainly didnt recognise it as an alarm from the motherboard like what you get when the chip is getting up to temp or something isnt right at boot-up.
Would anyone have any ideas as to what it was as im sure it is related to the system hanging.
    regards to you all

The reason why I mentioned the CPU Warning Temperature option  is it tends to start to operate below the setting in the bios in my experience of using the board. Raising it to say 63/66c should remove that as a possible cause of the beeping. The board will still shut down if the cpu reaches a critical temperature. It is just a warning beep.
Hi Labtech, yes it is the ilsr and the bios is award 7.70.  I did an update last night on the PC Alert and since then its reporting 4 degrees cooler.  Ive not done the bios as there was nothing there in the fixes that I thought related to me and ive heard that with bios unless there is something to fix dont fix it.  I will though flash it if you advise me to.
Although I know what was causing the warning beep, i still havent found out what or even where this other very quiet beeping came from on the board.  Im convinced though it was not a bios warning beep like the one we have been talking about with regard to the cpu temp.  That is unless you great techies can tell me otherwise (cos im still worrying about it even thought it hasnt happend again )

  • Can you tell me how to make my iphone 4 is heard when I make a video??

can you tell me how to make my iphone is heard when I make a video??

If you are expecting to hear some sort of alerting sound from the phone, the only alert is a rather quiet beep when the recording starts. There really isn't anything else.
If you are attempting to capture sounds along with the recording, it should do so automatically, but only sounds it can pick up. Louder noises in close proximity may block out sounds from farther away. Also, make sure your fingers are not blocking the microphone port.

  • KT2 Combo beeps and then powers down with XP2400

Hi all I could really use some advice here.
I bought an XP2400 Tbred cpu for this system and it never worked. I ended up returning it since it I think it was DOA. But I wanted to confirm it. The 1GHz Duron I have in it runs perfectly.
This system has a 100/133MHz jumper so when I installed the XP2400 I first removed the old 1GHz Duron, I then cleared the bios and set the jumper to 133 and then turned it on. Upon booting up it beeped 2 times VERY quickly and then shut down. One normal beep and one quiet beep you could barely hear but was there. No matter what I tried that's all it would do.
    I have an Antec SL350 which does 35 on +5 16 on +12 and 28 on +3.
    http://www.antec.com/specs/sl350_spe.html
    With only the cpu
2 sticks of 256MB PC133(I tried a single working DDR2100 stick as well)
    NO drives connected
and an old PCI video card( I started with my FX5200 but went PCI to test)
I know the mobo supports up to 2600+ 266MHz bus but with the XP2400 it just turned on, never POSTED, beeped and then turned off. My other system, a K7TPro2, is chock full of gear and an XP2000 runs fine with a lesser supply.
Was the xp2400 DOA or is there something amiss in my system? Ie does anyone know what those two short beeps were. If my Power supply is indeed weak what should I go with? A Xp2100? Many thanks for any help here as I need to order a new cpu but I'm afraid I'll run into the same problem if i order another 2400.

Wow, thanks for all the quick responses.
Dr Stu, No ,100MHz made no difference and my K7TPro2(not A) would not support it. I have nowhere else to test it so I RMA'd it.
osnavi, as others pointed out its actually a decent power supply. I've seen plently of reports of people running this class and faster CPU on my Power supply, especially considering I stripped the board when I was trying it out. It is of course possible that my Antec has bad CAPS or is dying, but nothing else points to that.
Grayone, nice link. Your right, too bad it never stayed powered up long enough. At best it was one clear beep and part of a 2nd one, but that was it. It powered down within a few seconds every time I turned it on.
My main concern is which cpu to buy. Since this is my HTPC and its running Windows Media Center 2005 I wanted to get the fastest CPU possible. That's why a XP2400 seemed perfect. Now I guess I need to see if I can find an old XP2100 so at least I can cross test it in my other motherboard.
Still though, its always going to bother me that I'll never know if it was my motherboard or the actual CPU that was the problem. Thanks again.

  • Thinkpad T530 Constant Beeping From CD Drive

My Thinkpad T530 has been constantly beeping for a few days now.
My laptop is about a month old and didn't start beeping until recently.
It isn't beeping from the speakers, but from some internal source.
I can hear it best when I put my ear up to the CD drive.
I am not sure if it is coming from the CD drive itself but it is from that general area.
It's a quiet beep and it beeps about once a second.
Please help I really don't feel like sending my laptop in for such a minor issue.

so it is beeping without you even touching the keyboard?

  • Mini making series of beeps while attempting to play song, returns to main

My mini is starting to have some trouble playing some podcasts. I select the item and the Mini plays a series of quiet beeps with decreasing pitch and never starts playing the audio, but instead jumps to the main menu. After several tries, it finally will play the item.
Also, it sometimes does this when coming out of pause in the middle of a podcast. Then when I return to the podcast,it starts at the beginning, having forgotten where it left off.

  • My iPhone Volume Experience!

Before buying my phone I was reading all the complaints about the low volume. This was the main reason I held off buying it till the end of July. I saw the 1.01 update posted which some said improved their volume while some said it made no difference. I decided to go ahead and purchase it and have used it now for a couple of weeks.
Overall I'm very pleased and glad I bought it. I was previously using LG phones on Verizon. If you make a direct comparison with those phones the iphone is quieter and by that I mean with the volume maxed out on both the LGs are louder. However I never used those phones maxed out, they would have been too loud with very distorted audio. If I compare the iphone's volume to the actual level I used on the LGs it's about the same and quite acceptable. One thing I've realized only recently is that if you change audio functions- ipod, speakerphone, blue tooth or the receiver on a call- the volume drops and can be adjusted up by the rocker switch. I had assumed that if the volume slider in the sound screen of settings was set to max all sounds would be at full volume all the time. This may be a design feature to protect your ears and/or speakers on the phone.
Once I realized this I make certain that I use the rocker to adjust the volume one way or another with whatever way I'm using the phone. I have found that in general call volumes are the same as I've been used to and interestingly depending upon whom I'm talking to I sometime actually decrease the volume. This may have something to do with the phones my friends are using. Most of the people I speak to say I sound more clear and distinct. I've been to two different Apple stores in my area and experimented with their phones and I've experienced pretty much the same thing with them.
The ringer volumes are definitely quieter on the iphone. On mine the two loudest are the old phone ringer and the digital one which is the loudest but also very annoying so when I use the ringer I use the old phone one. However 90% of the time I have it set to vibrate only. Speakerphone volume also has been good especially if I lay the phone flat on a flat surface such as a table top near me. I know that there are many people to whom the volume is unacceptable and that certainly was a concern of mine prior to purchase but based on my experience with my own and with the phones at the store I do feel confident that most of the phones have acceptable volume, if there is a software update that increases the volume great, if not I'm happy with where it is now. For those whose volumes are truly unacceptable I feel that it's specific to that phone and not indicative of an inferior design. For those who may have hesitated in buying the phone because of this issue as I did, I don't believe this should concern you.
