Quiet microphone

Hello I have a problem with microphone in Flash Player version 10.7.700.224. No voice - as if it was turned off.
I use Windows Vista 32-bit ( Home Premium SP2 ). I tested both on Opera 12.15 and on IE 9.0 - same result. I have embedded mic ( Realtek HD Audio ) not muted, with the volume adjusted. I enabled the flash player in the popup settings.
Other applications can use the microphone and gather the sound. I tested it on the beta version 10.8 and the problem still exists. And less then month ago it was working.
Any advice?

We also started experiencing a similar problem in June-July 2013. The issue is very sporadic: sometimes the microphone produces sound, sometimes it doesn't. We have Realtek HD Audio with Windows 7 on the test machine. Downgrading to Flash Player 11.6 as well as a bunch of other workaround attempts didn't help. Here's a link to a possibly related issue:

Could it be some Microsoft update pushed around this time that broke the microphone functionality in Flash Player?

  • Audio Driver Problems on G710

    Hello.
I've been having a problem with a very quiet microphone for some time now, I even had an issue of having to open up the IDT control panel and restart the boost microphone option for it to even work. I followed this thread, however, I got stuck on one particular step. After I click on update driver on microphone, stereo mix or speakers, I can't seem to select the new 6.10.6490.0 from C:/Drivers/IDT Audio Driver folder, Windows just says that it determined that the driver is correct and writes up something about AudioEndpoint.inf that it's set up as the driver. I'm looking for the file now, hoping to manage to temporarily disable it. I also can't see any other options when I pick from a list of installed drivers on driver update tab, other than AudioEndpoint and Generic Software Driver. Running Win 8.1 64bit on Lenovo G710.
Would you please enlighten what could be the problem for me? Thank you very much
EDIT: Now I have an even bigger problem. I experimented with different IDT driver versions (newer ones), but now when I try to install the recommended 6.10.6490.0 from the support website, it says my hardware is not compatible with that package. I've been trying to look for what it could have changed when I installed the different versions but no luck. Is anyone able to help me with this?

More than one way to do this.  What works for me is to use "Update Driver" path, then when prompted choose file to update from and broswe to the file or driver that was downloaded to update it.
Also - you can reboot in "safe mode", uninstall  the driver from the control panel app, then install the correct drivers from download.
    Good luck.
PS>  Driver Cleaner may be the only other option to try, but it is not freeware, you will need to purchase to use.

  • Satellite U400 - Internal microphone is too quiet

I am running on Windows7 x64. I have downloaded latest sound drivers (4.98.6.61) and now is internal microphone very quiet although its volume is on max.
I had Vista x64 before and everything was ok. I have tried Vista drivers on Windows 7, but nothing changed - still quiet mic.

    Hi
I had the same issue with my Satellite U400 but on Vista. After updating the sound driver and BIOS the issue did still exist.
After searching a little bit here in the forum I activated the microphone boost and this was the solution! :)
1.Open the "Control Panel" (Standard view)
    2.Click on "Hardware and Sound"
    3.Click on "Sound"
    4.Click on the "Recording" tab.
5.Mark the Microphone and then press on the "Properties" button.
6.Click on the Custom tab and set the check by Microphone Boost
    Check this!!

  • Microphone goes quiet even with Auto Adjust off?

    Hello,
Lately whenever I join a group call people say my microphone seems to be quieter than usual. To fix it I just go into my microphone propeties in Sound and re-adjust my microphone volume to between 70-85 Its definately not the mic as it was still occuring when I was using my built in microphone.
I'm currently using a Samson Go Mic with the Skype Windows Client on Windows 8.1.
Could it possibly be a hardware issue or is there something more wrong?
    My current settings are attached
Sorry if this issue has already been resolved but I can't seem to find a solution anywhere

  • Headset microphone quiet

Hi, I'm using a Sennheiser DW Pro 1 (wireless headset with base station attached via usb) with my iMac. The microphone turns out to be too quiet. Mirophone volume is set to max.
Using the same headset attached to a telephone is fine.
    Any ideas to improve?
    Thx, Dietmar

    Hi Len,
With many headsets and Cisco phones you need a different cord than what comes with the Headset (not unusual and usually pretty cheap $) It looks like the 2125 NC ships with the Cord Model# 8800-01 (Part#1003945) and with the 7960 you need Cord Model# 8800-02 (Part#27361101) The GN 2125 NCD-02 comes with the correct cord it looks like.
    From this good reference doc;
    http://www.ccpin.com/pdf/custserv/GN/Direct%20Connect%20Compatibility%20Guide.pdf
Plantronics headsets which we use require a special cord as well :)
    Hope this helps!

  • MkII microphone really quiet

I have had this problem since I bought them. The microphone is really quiet, even when I have windows recording level and mic boost set to max. I'm using the front panel slots (Realtek HD audio). How can I set the recording volume higher? Is my headset broken?
And yes, the headset is Fatal1ty MkII

Try the back panel, maybe the front panel isnt working well.

  • Microphone volume too quiet only with skype

My microphone volume is extremely quiet during calls. This is not a problem with my headset since it works perfectly fine with any other communication or recording software. I have my microphone volume and boost set to max in the recording setting and I unchecked the automatically adjust microphone option in skype's audio settings. I've also tried re-installing my sound card driver but that did not solve the problem as well. I think my microphone stopped working with skype after version 7.0. I used to just simply use a much older version of skype (version 6.5) until recently Skype decides to retire all the older versions. So now I am stuck with a skype that no longer works. An interesting thing to note is that if I uncheck "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in the microphone properties setting and then restart skype, my mic will be at normal volume for about a minute, then it will be extremely low again. If I restart skype again, the mic will work perfectly fine for a minute again. (I am not entirely sure why and I am not sure it works in a real call becuase I only tested this with the ecco/sound test service). Please Help!

  • Microphone too quiet in Windows 8.1 all volume settings maxed out.

Hello, about a two months ago I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and after that, my microphone in Skype doesn't hear me unless it is maxed out and I am shouting. It works without problems in Windows/other applications (Windows Sound Recorder, Teamspeak 3, Portal 2 ingame voip, ...) So my specifications are following:Windows 8.1 Pro 64bitSkype 6.16Headset Sennheiser PC 360 http://www.alfacomp.cz/php/product.php?eid=105HK5000000000ZFKMotherboard Asus P8Z77-M Screenshots of my settings are attached  And here is what i tried to doo:1) Updated Skype and alter reinstalled Skype.2) complete uninstall and install of Skype according to this https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10634/how-can-i-completely-uninstall-and-then-reinstall-skype-for-windows-desktop3) tried different driver versions (latest version for W7, W8 and W8.1) from here http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77M/HelpDesk_Download/, latest available from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ (version 6.0.1.7246) and even these which Windows Update installed.4) Tried Skype App for Windows 8 (enabled permissions for microphone and webcam)5) Tried different microphone.6) Chatted with Skype support and went through their checklist of settings to make sure I didn't forget anything Any help would be appreciated.

i am having the same problem here is what i tried i have tried trouble shooting this problem many ways but it never quite works. i will list what i have done so far. 1) tested with another mic. same effect 2) maxed the mic volume in the skype settings 3) tested with another audio recording software. mic still works great 4) tried resetting everything i could think that would help (computer, skype, skype settings) 5) when i tried resetting skype settings by going into appdata and changing the skype file into Old_Skype forcing skype to reload its settings, it would appear to work wonderfully when i started up the software. it would walk me through the setup settings and the bar that shows mic volume was going up to my voice as it normally does. then after setup and i get into a test call, my mic is back to sounding incredebly quiet. 6) i went into sound setting and tried many combinations concerning mic boost which was already up, tried disableing software setting override, tried disableing all sound effects. all still nothing. i am using a turtle beach x12 but that shouldent be the problem because a logitech i have is having the same problem. i am running on windows 8.1 i have tried skype calls with friends they all say my mic is very quiet. much much quieter than normal, even when yelling into the mic. if i think of anything else you may need or if you ask for it i will add to the post.thank you all Edit: after more testing i may have discovered the problem. skype is only detecting my onboard mic and is trying to use that (im using a laptop). how can i get skype to detect my turtle beach headset? other programs seem to just fine Edit 2: disreguard the first edit. when speaking into the mic in a way that the on bord mic wouldn't be able to pick up, skype got the sound i was sending into my headset mic. still quietly but somewhat louder because i was closer to the mic on the headset

  • Microphone is very quiet

So I am currently using a Logitech G430 headset, and my skype seemed to make my microphone very quiet. I had not always had this issue, it just seemed to pop up one time. My mic is still picking up sound, just only when I hold it directly to my mouth. I have tested my mic multiple times and it works great, just doesn't seem to work on skype. It works on occasion and sometimes would fix itself if I plugged it in and unplugged it but so far it does not seem to work.

    Hi
Did you check the microphone recording level?
The microphone level settings can be found in Microphone Level Utility.
Press and hold on the speaker icon on the task bar and select recording devices form the sub menu. Select Microphone and tab Properties.
On the level tab move the Microphone slider to increase or to decrease the microphone level.
If you feel the microphone volume level is inadequate, move the Microphone Boost slider to a higher level.
PS: this and other details about your device can be found in user manual ;) so read it if you want to know how your device functions and how to use it

  • E531 - Keyboard not working / Microphone too quiet - Tastatur geht nicht / Mikro extrem leise

    Dear Community,
after several problems with my Thinkpad E531 I am realy disappointed.
    - since I bought the Thinkpad recently the microphone was to quiet. People can hardly hear me on Skype. I also tried to enhance the sound virtually but it does not make a chance realy.
    - some of my keyboard keys are not working anymore, such as Printscreen, PageUp, PageDown, Delete.
    - also faced problems with an SSD running with Windows 8 as it froze down regularly. Now I use Windows 7 and finally at least it does not freeze anymore.
What can I do about the microphone and keyboard? Thank you.
    Hallo liebe Community,
    Danke.

  • MSI P67A-GD65 Microphone really quiet

I didn't want to have to resort to posting my question on the forums, but it's really my last resort, I have looked everywhere, and tried a lot of suggested solutions, but it just seems that nobody has an answer for me. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, and I just recently purchased my P67A-GD65, everything works amazingly, even when it comes to the onboard sound, except for, well, the microphone. I have hooked up my microphone on the front panel of my case, connected to my motherboard through the HD audio connector on it, and it is extremely quiet. I never had this issue before, my microphone's volume has always been acceptable and I find it extremely weird that I have to boost it by 20db to even be remotely audible. The issue isn't that my mic doesn't pick up audio at all, it's the fact that I have to be right next to it for it to actually pick up audio, which is a hassle, since I have a desktop mic. Does anybody know of any ways to increase my microphone's volume without adding boost, as the boost adds unnecessary and annoying static? Thanks beforehand!

Kinda sad, since I've gone through three different desktop microphones, and they all do exactly the same thing. I do not want to get a headset, and I actually contacted Realtek about the problem, but they haven't replied either. Looks like I'm either going to have to get a dedicated soundcard, or a headset.

  • IPhone 5S Rear Microphone Causing Muffled/Quiet Voice Calls

    Hi folks,
There are quite a few threads here about this issue - iPhone 5S (in my case 32GB grey) with iOS 7.0.4 - fresh install from factory - phone only a few days old - the Rear Microphone (just next to the rear camera) is causing major issues with voice quality for the person at the other end of the line. Outside of a case (naked phone), with the rear mic uncovered, your voice should sound perfectly clear to the other person, but put the phone in a case or cover that rear mic even slightly (and I do mean a TINY bit) and the voice quality suddenly drops dramatically and you sound distant and fuzzy, almost inaudible.
The case I'm using is really thin and the hole cut out around the rear cam and rear mic is easily large enough and not blocking them. But even those few mm of case thickness seem to be causing issues for the mic, and folding the front of the case round the back (for comfort) renders calls almost impossible for me.
I have tried disabling Phone Noise Cancellation but this has zero effect on the situation and the Rear Mic is still functioning (is this a bug in the latest 7.0.4?). I have also tried enabling Hearing Aid mode but this not only had no positive effect on my voice for the other person but actually made the other person almost inaudible to me! So neiher of us could hear eachother.
Conclusion? The Rear Mic has a problem . That problem may or may not be related to Phone Noise Cancellation. This may be an iOS (software) problem or a hardware problem. Either way it is a major problem.
My first upgrade since my iPhone 4 and I wish I hadn't bothered.... making and receiving calls with this 5S is a painful experience so far.
I've had this all but confirmed by Apple Support on the phone, and they confirmed that they've had several similar complaints. Their suggestion was to try a new case, but I can't see how that would help at all, or enough, since my current case has a very adequate hole for the rear mic area and I can't see any other cases having a larger space for this...
So, maybe we can have a show of hands for others suffering with this issue - and please remember to post your spec and setup so we can try to isolate the case of the issue! My hunch (and hope) is that it's a simple software issue that can be sorted, perhaps by properly disabling that Rear Mic (no setting I've found does this yet).

I have been experiencing the same issues since purchasing the iPhone 5s at the end of November. I am constantly being told I sound like I am talking through a pillow when I am yelling into the phone. My software is iOS 7.0.4. I have disabled the noise cancelling feature and no improvement. I have an otterbox commander series on the phone that is specially designed for the 5s. Nothing is blocking any of the microphones on the phone. I am at my wits end with this phone and very disappointed with it. My iPhone 4 was much better.

  • Skype Microphone Too Quiet

I just got a new Alienware 13 and when I try to contact someone on skype they say then cant hear me well at all. They say it sounds like im whispering or talking under my breath. Has been going on for about a month now. The built in microphone works fine in other apps like sound recorder and Audacity. But only gos up about 1-3 bars when I talk into it on skype.  Please help me.

  • Microphone very quiet even when fully turned up. speakers ok. hp g6000 notebook with windows 7

Have tried loading new driver but I am advised that I already have the latest driver for conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221.
Have also tried downloading sp.30399 but the problem persists,
I am the second owner of the machine but believe it originally ran under windows Vista when the built in microphone worked well and that it stopped working when he upgraded to windows 7.
    Can anyone help please?

BSOD's are never good. They point to a problem much bigger and deeper than any software issues.
When XP came out eleven years ago, people were astonished at how much processor it took to handle the GUI vs Windows 98. Processors an RAM have upgraded a lot since then. It was worse with VIsta, even on newer systems. Seven was a step in the right direction, but I'd guess that your old computer (your words, not mine) isn't up to the task of running Windows 7.
