Quit rapid release already. It made Firefox worse since 2011.
OK, ever since this rapid release thing came out, Firefox has only been getting worse and had more problems. On Firefox 32, Flash videos start buffering when you skip through the video (e.g. AMVs from Naruto, Sonic X, Bleach, etc.). Others reported buffering at the 0:14 mark. Good thing ytcrschmidt from the Google Product Forums actually reported this to the Firefox developers. Don't force HTML5 for YouTube videos on Firefox 33 or later, but you can still add 240p, 480p, 1080p, 1440p and 2160p to HTML5, just don't force it, fix the buffering problems with Flash instead for this version, so after Firefox 40, you must stop rapid release. Don't tell me to start Firefox in Safe Mode to "test if the problem occurs".
let's just keep your Flash problem is one thread such as [/questions/1019690] instead of posting duplicates which are frowned upon in most forums.
Google decided to make the HTML5 player default when possible in Firefox after a certain version. It was not Mozilla's doing.

I like the new rapid release, but I don't like how it's done.
Hello Firefox users.
I have a suggestion for your rapid release program. Ever since Firefox 2, I have been a loyal fan. Each update had a meaning and a purpose.
Ever since Firefox 5, each update makes slight improvements to technologies that aren't even used by the majority of the web. I'm not criticizing the updates you give, but instead how they are delivered.
Since Firefox 5, every 6~ weeks, a new firefox is released with a new version number. They offer little new.
My suggestion is to stop increasing the main version number.
When you go to your Firefox version, it says Firefox 7.0.1. At the this rate, the second digit of the firefox version will likely NEVER be used. How can they give a decent update in less than 6 weeks? That wont happen, they will include it in the next release.
Instead I propose a slightly revised plan. Instead of increasing the main version number, increase the second version number.
For example;
Firefox 8 is coming out very soon, instead of releasing it as Firefox 8, instead release it as 7.1. Firefox 9 can be released as 7.2. Firefox 10 can be released as 7.3, and etc.
Based on the old plan (before rapid release) a MAJOR update would be released very rarely. Example:
Firefox 2.0 released October 24th, 2006
Firefox 3.0 released June 17, 2008
That's about '''1 3/4 years later'''! In that same time span, Firefox will have increased 15 version numbers! That means '''we will be at version 22 in 1 3/4 years'''!
I am in no way suggesting reverting. The new rapid release helps get new technologies out there.
Here is my plan:
* Firefox 7.1 (8) Week #6
* Firefox 7.2 (9) Week #12
* Firefox 7.3 (10) Week #18
* Firefox 7.4 (11) Week #24
* Firefox 7.5 (12) Week #30
* Firefox 7.6 (13) Week #36
* Firefox 7.7 (14) Week #42
* Firefox 7.8 (15) Week #48
* '''Firefox 8.0 (16) Week #54'''
The six week plan with incremental updates will give us Version 8 on Week 54, almost one year after Version 7. This will allow for technologies to be released without undermining the huge progress that was made from version Firefox 1.0 - 4.0.
This will stop the large amount of complaints that Firefox has been receiving.
The rapid release that Chrome uses works well because they started with it, and they are used to it.
I hope Firefox will consider this plan instead of the old one. I cannot see any flaws in it, but if you can, '''please''' point them out, as I would like to either rebuttal them, or agree with them.They do, just may not seem to be as obvious or as big as the the Firefox 4.0 release was in abundance of features.

Several of my posts have vanished off of threads, recently, despite not having any rude, profane or baseless content.
I have been vocal about not liking the "rapid release" approach, by Mozilla, as I feel it's introducing bugs and problems faster than it's fixing them, but my posts have been intended to be helpful and recommend that people roll back their FireFox versions to functional ones, as well as request Mozilla to get back to the basics, which mean producing a great product with sensible updates.
I would hate to think that CENSORSHIP is now the Mozilla approach, in these boards, for anything which dares criticize their update policies.
After all, I've been a long-time Firefox supporter. The surest way to lose supporters, though, is to CENSOR what they have to say.
Has anyone else had this problem?I hate when people use the word Gestapo to refer to moderating a forum. Let's not cheapen the suffering of the German people or make our little support board out to be more important than it is. This is just one forum in a world is full of forums.Not only is this just one forum, its purpose is narrow: to answer support questions. It is not primarily a suggestion board or debating society, and has only the most indirect relationship with the direction of Firefox development. To me, the main point is to answer the poster's question. In most cases, that's why the user asked, and that's why the contributors replied.
If you feel strongly that a user's problem is best addressed by rolling back to an earlier version of Firefox, I think you should keep making that suggestion (but perhaps only once or twice per thread). Specific is better than general, e.g., roll back because an add-on or website only works with particular versions. As a matter of style, if you search my username with the word rollback, you will see I've given detailed instructions many times; I think that helps reduce the potential for error and data loss.
However you choose to do it, we are all under the watchful eye of the moderators/administrators, to make sure we are fulfilling this site's mission of providing good support. In some cases, that may involve trimming off repetitive or unhelpful posts. I don't think that's going to change, no matter how many bad names we might call it. -
How do I find out when a release will be made containing fixes to known bugs?
I'm currently using Firefox 22.0 which is part of Ubuntu Precise (12.04). I have not been able to find out when a release will be made containing fixes to known bugs in Firefox. How do I find out when a release will be made containing fixes to known bugs?

Why has the option to delete cookies on quit been eliminated from preferences in Firefox 12
The "Privacy" preferences panel no longer offers the option to delete cookies on quit, as it did in Ffx 6, the version I updated from. Has this option been moved elsewhere? Has it been eliminated? If it has been eliminated, what is the last version that offers it? Could you please give me a '''specific, working''' URL where I can download the latest version that allows setting a "delete on quit" policy for cookies.
If Firefox puts the user first, why are your "updates" dumming down on user-settable options, especially one as important as an easy and convenient way to prevent cookies from hanging around till the next ice age. I realize I can manually delete cookies, but this is a pain in the rear, especially since I am missing most of my fingers. All those extra strokes that the ten fingered world dismisses as trivial really add up when you have only 2.5 fingers and one eye.Your image shows "Firefox will Remember History".
It has a dropdown arrow which usually shows -
"Firefox will Never Remember History" and, what you need,
"Firefox will Use Custom Settings". This opens a range of options.
Is this pair of dropdown arrows not working? -
Recent software upgrades has changed the way my iPhone syncs with my macbook and items entered on my iPhone are no longer uploaded to my macbook. I've tried to fix it and seem to have made things worse, my iPhone now has a long list of calanders that I don't want and can't delete and nothing is uploading to my macbook.
You need to look at Mac's iTunes, check > System Preferences > iCloud.
If you use iCloud for Calendar, Contacts then turn off those items in iTunes, Info tab with your iPhone connected and selected. -
How to apply a Character Style that's already been made in a template document?
First of all I'd like to thank everyone that helps. I'm a complete beginner at scripting and appreciate all your help.
I'm basically using GREP expressions to find patterns in a document and apply a Character Style which has already been made. This Character style was not made using script, but just in InDesign when making and setting up the template.
var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
//Clear the find/change grep preferences.
app.findGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
//Set the find options.
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeFootnotes = false;
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeHiddenLayers = false;
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeLockedLayersForFind = false;
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeLockedStoriesForFind = false;
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeMasterPages = false;
//GREP Expression for finding all HEADERS
app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = ".+\n";
//Applying formatting changes to put into All Caps, Bold and changing the font size to 12 pt.
app.changeGrepPreferences.capitalization = Capitalization.allCaps;
app.changeGrepPreferences.fontStyle = "Bold";
app.changeGrepPreferences.pointSize = "12";
myDoc.changeGrep();
//Clear the find/change preferences after the search.
app.findGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
This is how I currently have it. I will manually define the changes to the text. The problem is, each template uses a different set of fonts and not all of them use Bold e.g. Sabon can use CE Bold.
I would like to learn how to apply a Character Style and have tried looking around but nothing seems to work.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.select the text where u went and run below script after change group as per ur template.
var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
var mySel = app.selection[0];
//Clear the find/change grep preferences.
app.findGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
//Set the find options.
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeFootnotes = false;
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeHiddenLayers = false;
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeLockedLayersForFind = false;
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeLockedStoriesForFind = false;
app.findChangeGrepOptions.includeMasterPages = false;
//GREP Expression for finding all HEADERS
app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "role";
//Applying formatting changes to put into All Caps, Bold and changing the font size to 12 pt.
//app.changeGrepPreferences.capitalization = Capitalization.allCaps;
//~ app.changeGrepPreferences.fontStyle = "Bold";
//~ app.changeGrepPreferences.pointSize = "12";
app.changeGrepPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle=myDoc.characterStyleGroups.item("Style Group 1").characterStyleGroups.item("Style Group 2").characterStyles.item("Header")// Header is name of character name
mySel.changeGrep();
//Clear the find/change preferences after the search.
app.findGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;

I cannot generate a Key to Sync between two computers. Manage Account menu doesn't show under Options > Sync > Firefox Sync Setup > I already have a Firefox Sync Account > I don't have the Device with me. No Sync Key no matter how hard I tried.
Yes I did. '''''I solved this issue last night.''''' First I had to Clear My Sync Data, then Yes I Already Have a Sync Account [enter User, Password] and only then the Key appeared in its proper field. Went to the 2nd computer and wrote down the Key after I Already Have a Sync Account. The bottleneck was to enter into Mozilla server after resetting pass and user, and then, clear data.

All mac applications quit unexpectedly, but I can use firefox
I have been researching and working on this problem for hours now.
I installed an automatic update today and now none of my mac applications work, not even the updater. They bounce a bit before they "quit Unexpectedly.
I can use Firefox but the whole computer is slow.
I am running 10.5.8 on a 233 ghz and 2 gig ram.
I have run disk utility to repair permissions but it did not help. Every time I run it I get the following:
Warning: SUID file "Applications/Utilities/ODBC Administrator.app/Contents/Resources/iodbcadmintool" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app/Contents/Resources/kcproxy" has been modified and will not be repaired.
I tried downloading and installing the latest Safari off of the web but it still gives me the "quit unexpectedly" error.
It effects all the accounts on my computer.
I looked for corrupted fonts in the "font book" and it found 77 minor font problems. I am afraid to delete these fonts.
My logic board did just get back from being repaired if that makes a difference, but it has been working fine for two days now.
Anyone with any ideas?~Bee
I removed all of the questionable fonts and she still crashes

Is there an add-on that shows if any of google results is already in my firefox bookmarks? i.e with a yellow star next to "+1" or preview button.
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I've tried to do the iTunes upgrade, but the iTunes.msi file was missing/ could not be found.
I've tried the fixes listed by people online, but it has just made it worse. The files are now corrupted and I cannot update/ repair/ uninstall, etc......
How do I fix this?
Thank you in advance........Apple provides a brain-dead simple way to backup all your personal data in the form of Time Machine that keeps incremental backups going back at least several weeks, if not months (depending on the size of the backup drive). Why more people don't use it is a puzzle to me. In this day and age of person, and very important, data being digitial (sometimes exclusively) backing everything up becomes imperative. Ideally a good backup scheme should incorporate multiple backup solutions in case of very serious emergencies, but for most people, and in the case described in the OP TM is a very good solution. If a file is deleted, then found to be needed again, just go to the date and time in TM just before the file was deleted and restore it. Simple. But it doesn't work if you aren't backing up. So... backup, backup, backup. You'll thank yourself that you did when you finally need it.

When I go to open lightroom a message pops up and says "lightroom encountered an error when reading from it's preview cache and needs to quit" I have already restarted my computer, that didn't do anything. I then uninstalled and then reinstalled and still getting the same response.
Open the folder containing your Lightroom catalog. Locate a folder with the extension .lrdata and delete that folder. Do not delete anything else. Then restart Lightroom. It will start building a new previews folder.

Dear all,
i face the following problem.
i created a project with some WBSE. I-0001 is one of the WBSE.
i released the project.
i deleted the WBSE I-0001 and I saved the project.
after a few days, my manager told me to add WBSE I-0001 to the project and i did so.
but the error message stated +WBS I-0001 Version Released already exists.
is it correct? how can i solve this problem??
thanks a lot
Judythank you very much for all your answers.
i find the table VSPRPS_CN and the field POSID
the deteled WBS (status released )is in this table.
therefore, i cannot add the WBS with the same name (status released).

Beginneer to J2EE, which book do you recommend me?
Hi mates! I have a lot of experience in C++ and Java SE, but I never used J2EE. I would like to create an app that uses web interfaces, data bases (persistence) and a multithreaded server. I guess that is possible with J2EE, but no idea about Hiberna

I'm trying to learn a little bit about assembly and such, so I made a multi-language program to figure out a little bit. It's very simplistic, but it accomplished what I want for the most part. Here is what I wrote mix_asm.asm: section .data new_line
