Quiz problems

Hi All,
Having some problems with a quiz in CS6. I have 4 questions in my course and then 5 question pools, of which I have 5 random questions at the end of the course. The User must pass the quiz, however if I fail the quiz the Retake button then takes me to one of the questions in the course - taking the user almost back to the beginning. I've not had this problem before, so it's puzzling. Also, when I do fail the Continue button still shows. I must have something wrong in the Settings, but not sure what it is. The 4 questions in the Course have no points against them and are not to be Reported in the Settings.
Any ideas??

Thanks for your reply. The quiz seems to jump back to the 1st question in the Course when Retaken. These questions are not in any Pools, just sitting in the Course.

Adobe presenter 8 quiz problem

The default option for my quizzes had the font too small to see the text of the questions. When I made the font of the questions larger, the circles for clicking, the letters of the questions, and the question texts all ran into each other.
So I have a question:
1) Is there a way to change the theme or profile--I cannot tell which--on just the quiz questions? And if so, how?

That is not the problem, but thanks.
I have changed the size of the font and when I do that, the box to
check, the letter that numbers the answer, and the question all run
together. It appears that the size of the letters have been enlarged
but not the spaces between them. Any ideas?
I think it is possible that i could change this all by inserting a new
master slide into the presentation before the quiz, but I cannot seem
to do that.

Captivate 2 Quiz Problem 2

We have our quizzes set to place users who do not score a certain percentage on the quiz back to the beginning to retake the quiz. Several people who have "failed" quizzes and been put back at the start to retake the quizzes have then been "Frozen" at mid point and unable to complete the quizzes to the end. What could be causing these "Freeze-Outs" and how do we correct them?

Try opening your Advanced Interaction dialog (F9).
Specifically, look for Click Box objects. I'm guessing you have 30
or so before the question slides. You need to turn reporting off
for these beasties, as they are probably being factored into the
mix.

Help please Adobe Presenter quiz problem

Quiz function error, have selected backwards movement so students can answer out of sequence, with scorm selected, a course requirement. Works in preview but, after zipping and uploading to Blackboard, it no longer allows out of sequence answering and submission grades zero. Very frustrating!
Is there a way around this?

Try converting your video to FLV before inserting it into the presentation. The inline converter in Presenter is... well... simple. I've never had much faith in it and prefer to use the Adobe Media Encoder, http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=160&platfor m=Windows, or something like the AVS Video Converter, http://www.avs4you.com .

Continue from Quiz Problem

For my project, after the end user completes the quiz, when
they "Click anywhere to continue" I want the next URL to open in
the current window, not a new window.
I have established the following settings under
Edit/Preferences/Project/Start and End:
Project End Options:
Action: Open URL or File
Open URL or File: A URL link with browser option set to
"Current"
The current Quiz/Pass or Fail settings are:
If passing grade:
Action: Continue
At one point I had also tried for the Quiz/Pass or Fail
settings:
Open URL or File: A URL link with browser option set to
"Current"
No combination of the three has seemed to work successfully
to have the URL open in the same browser window; it keeps opening
in a new window.
I am still pretty new at using Adobe Captivate, so any
suggestions would be grately appreciated.

Hi Suzanna and welcome to our community
What version of Captivate are you using? I'm using version 3
and tested this in both IE and Firefox and both versions seem to
behave as you are wanting.
I guess I should also ask what your output is. Is it .SWF or
.EXE. If it's .EXE, I'm doubtful you will be able to avoid the
separate browser window.

Captivate 2 quiz problem

Hello,
I have 20 quiz questions at the end of a captivate 2 project.
In edit mode, the quiz question read "Question 1 of 20"
etc...
When I publish the quiz as a .swf, it starts at "Question 56
of 76" and this gives a weird result.
I had other questions before this and I deleted them...is
there a possibility they may still be registered in the application
even though they were deleted?

Quiz problems, white screen appears, quiz freezes, cannot get consistent responses when adding click-through assessment questions to the quiz.

Why would I get a white screen after answering a quiz click-through?

You'll have to do two things.. Elaborate on exactly what you mean by a white screen appears. What is turning white? Are you generating a SWF from captivate of a screen capture session, then trying to load that SWF with a wrapper and when you do so it turns white? (In that scenario, if Captivate was looking for external assets it can't find, that'd be why). Please include more details on that.
Second, code of this size pasted into the forum really doesn't help. You'll need to do the work to isolate exactly what part of the code you're seeing this white box appear. Run it in a debugger line by line until you witnesss it turn white and only share that small portion of code. And if you do choose to share a ton of code, please use a site like pastebin.com which will retain formatting and color coding, making it much easier to read, and then share that pastebin link.

Can anybody help me with this quiz problem?

I'm newer on Presenter, but I can tell you that I've understood very well how to use it.
Well, I've finished my presentation on Power Point, created all quizzes and questions.
After I record the audio, the quizzes have problems. The answers didn't appear, the button labels also.
It's very strange because, before to record the audio, I've tested the presentation publishing on HTML5 and SWF and all quizzes were fine.

I've tried many things: deleted all questions, cleared the temp files and also created new questions and nothing solved this problem.
It occurs in a preview mode and publishing in HTML5 and SWF too.
What's happening?
Should I re-install Adobe Presenter 10?
(UPDATED: I've re-installed it and the same problem happen).

PLease apply the following fix and check if it resolves the issue:
1. Click on the below link to download the patch :
Shared Files - Acrobat.com
2. Please download the zip file and extract it.
3. Please check the version of Presenter installed on your machine.
4. For 32bit: Please copy the PptImgExporter.dll from 32 bit folder and paste it under “C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Presenter 10.0”.
5.For 64bit: Please copy the PptImgExporter.dll from 64 bit folder and paste it under “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Presenter 10.0”.
6. Try to publish the project now and check.

Presenter short answer quiz problems with answer

Hi everyone,
it's my first time using adobe presenter. I started to make a short answer quiz and put a word i.e. "car" in the answer field. As I read the manual the question will be correct, if the user is typing the word as answer. After testing the quiz I wonder because the will be only a right answer if the word car will be type alone. When typing a sentence i.e. I have a car this means a wrong answer for the program.
Is there a way to tell the quiz just look out for the right word or means short answer just exactly the word in the answer cell? If I read the manual correct a complete sentence with the word must be a right answer. What's wrong?

To take Leo's and Jorma's comments one step further, any time a client (or even one of our Instructional Designers) requests that kind of question type, one of the first things we do immediately is to set the question to ONE ATTEMPT and then set both the correct and incorrect feedback responses with the same identical content...so regardless of whether you got it right or wrong, the same feedback will display.
So what this means is that the resulting feedback might say something like: "Did your answer include the following?....." and then include the correct information.
I know that seems counter-intuitive, but one of the most difficult aspects of using the Short Answer question type is in terms of how a learner might respond. It can be a very difficult animal to control...and although you could use the retry feedback prompt to help the learner with hints for a correct response, we've found that it's just too cumbersome to worry about.
Additionally, any time we use Short Answer question types, we usually set it to 0 points and totally disable the the Report Answers option, so even as the learner answers this type of question, no reporting whatsoever is triggered back on the LMS, for the reasons that Leo and Jorma outlined above.

Course/Quiz problem - please help

My scenario is that I have around a 30 frame course and 5
questions on various pages in the course. When going through the
course I get to a question and answer it...it goes to the next page
and then I hit back and I'm at the question, then I hit back again
and I'm on the frame before the question. I then go forward again
progressing throught the next few frames until I get to the next
question...this question is now locked without me ever answering
it. Any way to fix that? Please help if possible.

We have had similar problems in Captivate 2. I don't know
which version you are using, but I'm very interested in the
solution. We have gotten to the point where we don't use the
built-in quizzes for this reason, and I actually came out here to
ask if some members use a third-party software as a solution to
this problem or if Captivate 3 may have solved the problem.
I am moving to a new company where my products will be
marketed and I can't afford to have quizzes and interactions
malfuntion. I am thinking of using rapitivity or another product to
add re-inforcement exercises to my modules. I'd love to know of any
fixes for the problem or what third-party products others
use.

Submit all answers of a test person at the end of a quiz

Does anyone have an ideas to solve the following quiz problem?
The current test situation:
The test person has only one try for each question.
If he clicks submit, there is no chance to correct his answers.
If he passes over to the next question and if he comes back to the old one, all his answers are cleared.
What I want is
that all the answers of the test person are still stored when he comes back to the question,
and that he still has the chance to correct his answers.
and that only at the end of the quiz all the answers are submitted.

I don't think we understand your situation yet.
When you say "encoding," are you talking about ripping from CD, or about converting the format?
Are you trying to get AAC files (M4A as you refer to) or MP3 (as you also refer to)?
In the "few seconds" it is adding, do you hear silence, or is it repeating a section of the song?

Captivate 8 Retake Quiz button - back to the wrong question slide

I still haven't fixed my retake quiz button problem. I have a project with several non-graded practice questions (hot spot, drag n drop, 2 multiple choice/multiple answer) followed by 9 "real" test questions. I want the students to go back to the "real" test questions when they click the retake quiz button. Now, the retake quiz button takes me back to the first multiple choice question in the practice section - not the first "real" test question.
In Advanced Interactions for the first multiple choice question (and the 2nd as well), I see that nothing is listed in Include in Quiz col and Report Answers = NO. But an entry appears in Objective ID and Interaction ID. I can't see this ID information anywhere in the QUIZ tab - I'm wondering if this is what's driving the retake quiz button to this slide.
Attempted Fix:
I saw Lilybiri's answer to "Captivate 8 Retake Quiz" entry. This sounded like the perfect solution to my problem. So I created a conditional Advanced Action:
If cpQuizInfoAttempts is greater than 1 Jump to (1st "real" test slide #) Else Continue
On the 1st "real" test slide I put this conditional action On Enter.
It didn't work. Please help me determine what I'm doing wrong and how to fix this retake quiz problem. MANY MANY THANKS!!! I'm getting desperate!

You must have read my answer wrongly. Condition is OK, but you have to trigger it On Enter for the first practice question, not on the first real question slide. Since the Retake button will take the user to that first practice question slide, that action will be evaluated and the jump to the first real question slide will occur. Supposed is here that all practice slides are before all question slides.

Problem with enter key in the quiz templates

hi,
I need some i am using quiz templates and my problem is when
i make the swf file and test the quiz it works good , but when i
press the enter key , the quiz doesn't work and repeat and go to
the first screen , i don't know if i have to block the enter key or
how i can resolve this ?

I know that focus management has changed alot.
Based on my experimentation a while back, in 1.4 it still believes that the JFrame is the window in focus, even though a JOptionPane is currently in front of it (unless I misinterpreted what was going on). Thus, the frame seems to get the keyboard event and re-invoke the action.

Adobe Captivate 5 - Problem with scoring with Quiz exported to PDF

Hello,
I have created several review quizzes that have been exported to pdf and uploaded to the internet. They are elementary school quizzes that are listed on a canned school web hosting site that only allows uploads in common formates such as Microsoft Word and pdf.
I tested these pdf quizzes with no problems and from my computers they still work fine; however some people are having problems with the scoring element. Some - not all questions are not tabulated correctly in the end review section. I have been told that the questions were answered correctly but the end review showed some questions as wrong or not answered. The quizzes are reveiw only and no reporting or LMS is used.
Has anyone else seen this? I had a feeling that perhaps the adobe reader was at fault, but so far everyone is using reader version 9.

Hi,
I have since my initial post been told that certain elements of the quiz slides are also not working. Correct answers have a sound clip that plays when the "correct" option is selected. This is not working for some users. Like I said I have no problem with the pdf quiz from any of the computers I use and don't know why it doesn't work for others.

and have created a training demo which has 2 quizzes in it.
The problem I am having is that when I run the package only
one or the other quiz will work. Whichever one I go to first will
work and the other will just show up with the summary saying 0
questions etc.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
