Quiz Results Screen

Is there a way to modify what fields appear in the quiz result screen?  I have a project built from 4 other projects.  At the end of each project I have review questions.  I marked these as survey because I didn't want the results reported to an LMS.  I'll have questions in the end project that I'll want to count as graded.  For the reviews in the individual projects I don't want the first two items since they are reporting zero.  I do want them as part of the end projects quiz.Thank you,
Susan

Hello,
In the Quiz Preferences you can indicate which fields you want to show in the results slide. Here is a screenshot (for CP5 - couldn't detect which version you use).

  • Incorrect fonts on Quiz results screen

    Hello,
I'm using font Frutiger for a captivate course, upon a client request. On my computer, everything is fine. On the client's computer, all screens show frutiger, except the quiz results screen. The labels do appear in Frutiger, but the variables ( {correct-questions}, {total-questions}, etc...) display a different font ( I think it's Times New Roman). Does this mean that the end-user must have installed the font type defined for the variable to see it as desired?
    Thanks

Yes - I believe Captivate does not embed fonts, so if the font is not installed, the Flash player will substitute a font for you.
If you have access to Flash, maybe if you embed the Frutiger font in a small Flash file, then place that somewhere within your application, then perhaps Captivate will pick up the font in the Flash swf and use it when published?
If this works, that should also help with the aliased text.

  • HELP! Lesson with 2 branches locking on Quiz Result screen when learner (of either branch) fails.

I have a CP6 lesson which is essentially two parallel branches, with only the following slides in common:
    A "Welcome" slide
A slide where the learner chooses his branch
A "Congrats!  You completed the test" slide
A "You did not answer the questions correctly" slide
Once the learner chooses his branch, he is given a 5-question test.   If he fails the test, he is taken to a short lesson, specific to the content tested in that branch.   When he finishes the lesson, he is taken BACK to the test to try again.  If he fails, back to the lesson, then back to the test, etc.  until he passes.  (I set max attempts to "10" under "Quiz Preferences")   When he passes, he is taken to the "Congrats" slide and the lesson ends.
I set the last question in each branch to go to the Quiz Results slide (success or fail), and I set the Quiz Preferences to jump to the "Congrats" slide if passing, and to the "You did not answer the questions correctly" slide if learner fails.
That's how it's supposed to work anyway.  And that's how it WAS working until I made a change somewhere and mucked it all up.
    What is happening instead is:
Passing test (both branches) takes learner to Quiz Results and the "Congrats" slide just fine.
Failing test (either branch) takes learner to Quiz Results and then gets stuck there.    (In fact, if I click the "Continue" button a second time on the QR slide, the lesson still doesn't advance but all the graphics I put on that slide disappear, which is weird and not at all helpful.)
The branching looks ok to me.   What am I missing?
I know I need to upgrade, and we will be soon, but not before this lesson has to be published -- which is, of course, yesterday.
    Help?  Anyone?

Figured it out.  Had "Required" on the "Quiz: Settings" page set to "Pass Required - The user must pass the quiz to continue".  That kept the learner from continuing beyond the "Quiz Results" slide and looping back to the didactic content and retaking the quiz.
I changed "Required" to "Required - The user must take the quiz to continue."   Learner is able to loop back/read/retest as many times as needed in order to pass the quiz.  All is well.

  • How do i prevent a slide that is after the quiz results page from showing?

HI guys, I am trying to achieve the following in Captivate 6:
    1) Users answer questions. They have 2 attempts to pass with 70% or above.
    2) At the quiz results page, if the score is less than 70%, users get a button to retake the quiz. After the second attempt, If the percent is 70% or above, they can click a button to view a certificate or click a button to see a transcript. If the percent is less than 70%, they click a button to get a transcript but NOT a certificate.
How can i accomplish this since i cannot add buttons to the quiz results page.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I am trying to implement a simple hide/show routine and it does not work. This is what I want.
I have two buttons (one to save a certifcate and one to save a course transcript).  I want to display those on the quiz results screen. The user has two chances to make a 70% or more on the quiz.
If the user obtains less than 70% score on the first try, on the quiz results slide I want to hide the button to save the certificate but keep the one for the transcript. If the user passes with 70 or more, then both icons remain on screen.
IF the user obtains less than 70% after the second try, the quiz results should only show the transcript button. If they pass with 70% or more, then both icons remain on screen.
I tried advance interactions to hide or show the icons in the "on slide enter" on the quiz results screen but that did not work.
This is an example of what i tried. if cpQuizInfoQuizPassPercent is less than 70% hide btncert. I also tried hiding the button and then assigning actions to show the button on passing the 70% but that did not work either.
    Suggestions?

  • CP5: Scoring and Quiz Result Slides for Selected Questions

    Hello World,
I am trying to create a course that has several "knowledge checks" that don't need to be scored or tracked, and then a 10 question quiz at the end that needs to be scored and tracked.
Does anyone know of a way to separate those two elements so that the Quiz Results slide does not include any of my "knowledge check" data and just gives the user details of the 10 question quiz? I would also like to use the progress bar, but only for the final 10 questions.
Alternatively, if the quiz result screen separated out the results of the knowledge checks from the quiz, that would work as well.
    Thanks,
    Graham

    Hello,
If you use the Question slides that come with Captivate, all the slides will be added to the total score because you can only have one Quiz in a CP-file.
Some ideas: you could set the score of the first (not te be tracked) slides to 0, or if possible change the questions from scored to survey (will not be scored).
If by Progress you mean the indication 'Question X of Y', there you will need to make your own counters, with user variables and advanced actions. If you want to have total control of your question slides you could create the first bunch of questions yourself and only use the default Question slides for the real last Quiz. Just published a blog post today with some links to articles about customizing Quizzes. Feel free to check it:

  • Quiz Results Analyzer results not displaying correctly

We are using Adobe Captivate 6 and posting quizzes to a local server (configured with the .php files.) When we review quiz results using the Quiz Results Analyzer, some of the data is correctly reported. However, the Pass/Fail is not working right (either everybody who takes the quiz passes, or everybody fails.) Also, we are not seeing a total score.
Is there any tutorial for correctly configuring all of the quiz preferences, so that we get the results we are looking for?

Thank you for the link. I have viewed this video in the past.
The issue I'm having is that, in spite of setting the the quiz options for reporting, the data that is received in the xml files is not correct, therefore, it is not being correctly summarized in the Quiz Results Analyzer.
(It would also seem that the screen name I set here is not retaining its modifications.)

  • Customized Quiz Summary screen

    <Captivate 7, Win 7>
    Hi,
Can we customize Quiz Summary screen?
Can there be a review screen that shows:
custom title of each assessment slide e.g. "Algebra question'
    the learners answers
    what the correct answers were
AND, on this same screen, can there be a link for the learner to go to any of those quiz items from that screen and review again?
    cheers and thanks!

You can give each quiz question a Slide Name, yes.
You can edit the Question Title caption to say anything you want, yes.
You can use Variables and Advanced Actions to capture details about what answers the user selected on specific questions and then insert these variables into captions on the Quiz Results slide, yes (but it might get very crowded and 'busy'.
You can insert captions on the Quiz Results slide that show the correct answer for specific questions, yes (but again I think you won't have the room for all this).
You can place Smart Shape buttons on Quiz Results slides and use these to jump to other slides in the project, but when you jump back to those slides you may be initiating a new attempt on the quiz if there are more attempts allowed.  So this might mean you don't see the user's previous answers displayed.  Clicking the Review Quiz button on the Results slide is the only way to trigger quiz review mode.

  • CP5.5 - Is it possible to create a quiz summary screen with all questions reviewed on one screen?

    Hello Forum members,
I was wondering if it is possible, rather than having a quiz review where you review the quiz questions one screen at a time, if it is possible to create a quiz summary screen, which will provide a summary of which questions were answered incorrectly/correctly (without actually giving the user the correct answers)?
An example of what I'd like to achieve is below:
Is this possible in CP5.5? Perhaps with Advanced Actions/variables?
    many thanks
    Loraine

    Hello Loraine,
This is possible using Advanced Actions and variables. After every question, On Success you can set a variable to 1 and create a custom screen where you can show/hide the tick mark graphic based on the variable value set.
    For Ex:
    - For question 1, on success, set x=1
    - On the results screen, correct tick mark graphic is hidden. If x=1, then show the correct tick mark.
Like this you can do for all the questions. Will wait for others also to comment for any quicker solution.
    Thanks,
    Vish

  • If the user passes show a button widget on results screen and if they fail show another

I am trying to set up a quiz so that on the results screen if the user passes one button shows and if they fail another button shows ... I have an advanced action that hides them initially On Enter when the results screen loads. For some reason it is not working ... any suggestions?

  • Adobe Captivate 6 problem with Review area text on Quiz results page

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Captivate 6 and I have a test at the end of my project with the built in 'Quiz results page' at the end.
However, the standard 'review area' provided always seems to play up for me. I have changed the 'quiz results messages' through the preferences and changed the font of the review area, but everytime I play my project the message displayed is in a different font that I did not set and the size is so large that the sentence goes off the screen. It has done this on numerous projects.
I have changed the font of the review area and it shows up on my normal view, but everytime I preview the project or publish it, the font changes back to a strange default.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
    Thank you.

    Hannah,
That is a very well-known bug in the last Captivate versions... if you screen these forums you'll find multiple threads complaining about it. Some fonts will work, I think Calibri works (not all styles however) and all the other fonts revert to Times New Roman. I'm a bit puzzled that you call it a 'strange default'.

  • Continue Button on Quiz Results Slide NOT Working Properly

I'm experiencing a functionality issue with the "Continue"
button on the Quiz Results slide:
Situation 1: After initially completing the quiz, I need to
click the "Continue" button on the Quiz Results slide only once to
advance to the next (and last) slide in the quiz movie. This is
fine & works as I would expect.
Situation 2: After initially completing the quiz, if instead
I choose to review the quiz, later when I get to the Quiz Results
slide, I need to click the "Continue" button TWICE to advance to
the next (and last) slide in the quiz movie. This does NOT work as
    I would expect.
Any idea why only 1 click is needed in the Situation 1 while
2 clicks are needed in Situation 2? Any way to fix Situation 2 so
that only 1 click is needed?
    Thanks much!

    CapManZ,
Whether the Continue button on the Quiz Results slide
requires one or two clicks is mysterious indeed. See
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=67&catid=464&threadid =1302278
for another discussion about its misbehavor.
Actually, the number of clicks required depends on how long
you wait after the Quiz Results slide appears, prior to clicking
the Continue button. In your situation 1 you probably answered
questions rather than using the skip button, so you viewed the
question slides for a while prior to arriving at results. In your
situation 2 you probably used the Skip button to zip through the
slides to return to the results screen. Try this. In situation 2,
when you get to the Quiz Results slide, instead of clicking the
Continue button, go get a cuppa joe and then see if a single click
will work. If so please let me know.
I've experimented with a Captivate 2 multiple choice quiz in
a slide show that contained only 10 questions and the Results
slide. I added a text caption with fade in and fade out enabled
(the default) to the Results slide. I found that after the caption
fades in, one click on the continue button advances the slide. So I
used the caption's appearance to help measure the timing.
In the tests below I skipped as rapidly as possible, pausing
at various slides to see how it affected the single click
    threshold.
    Skip all slides: 28 sec
View slide 1 for 60 sec and then skip: 28 sec
Skip to slide 5, pause 30 sec, and then skip: 13 sec
Skip to slide 10, pause 30 sec, and then skip: 2-3 sec
Answer each slide (took more than 30 sec): 2-3 sec
Skip all slides, click Continue as fast as possible: 2-3 sec
I also reduced the number of question slides in the quiz and
    skipped all slides.
    7 questions: 18 sec
    3 questions: 7 sec
I believe the threshold value (the duration required before
clicking the Continue button advances to the next slide) is
composed of two durations which add together to determine the
threshold. The Result's slide's timeline probably sets the
threshold's lower limit. Clicks prior to 3 seconds are ignored.
Time per slide and number of slides left to go sets the upper limit
for the threshold. The slower the movement, the lower the
    threshold.
    Several conclusions:
This probably isn't a situation in which the first click is
ignored. Instead the first click reduces the threshold's value to
the lower limit. The second click would then typically occur after
3 additional seconds, particularly if the user is surprised that
the first click didn't work and pauses slightly. A very fast
additional click on the Continue button is ignored as well.
Long quizzes will cause more complaints about the issue
because of what you experienced. It typically takes longer to
answer the quiz than review it.
Perhaps there's a workaround that would alert the user that
the Continue button is ready for clicking. I'm thinking that since
the text caption fade-in coincides with being ready to continue, an
image or the like might do the trick. Any suggestions out there?
Humm, a better alternative might be to show some images of
snacks on the results slide background. Through suggestive selling,
the user realizes it's time for a break and clicks Continue after
returning with that cuppa joe. And the sound you hear? It's the
Captivate developers giggling if they read my conclusions. Too bad
they're mum, since some real info might make it easier to make
    Captivate behave. Ah well.

  • CP5 and Continue button on quiz results

Is there a way to delay the appearance of the continue button?  We have a submit quiz results button on the screen too that they are instructed to select first, but I'm sure some impatient person will hit continue before vCP5 can complete sending the popup for the student to complete to send the results.
    Susan

The buttons on the Quiz Results slide are on hidden layers that you cannot reorder via the timeline.  These layers are above any other object that you add to the slide (e.g. a highlight box intended to hide the button until you want it seen).
I often hide the Review Quiz button underneath the Retake Quiz button on my projects so that the user has to pass the quiz before they can Review the Quiz.  This works because the Retake Quiz button seems to be on the very top layer.
From what I see, the order is:
    Retake Quiz - very top
Review Quiz - second from top
    Continue - third from top
Unfortunately this may not help you much unless you want to force all users to Review the Quiz and exit the course another way.
You cannot add other interactive objects like buttons or clickboxes or interactive widgets to the Quiz Results slide.  But you can add Static Widgets.  So in theory you could make the Continue button invisible by moving it off stage or turning it into a transparent button and then use the Static Widget button that comes with Cp to move beyond the Quiz Results slide.  Even though it's only a Static Widget this button still allows you to execute one of the standard actions normally reserved for Interactive objects.

  • Continue button on Quiz Results Slide not working Captivate 7

I have the Quiz Settings set to Continue when the user passes the quiz. However, when the user clicks the Continue button on the Quiz Results Slide, nothing happens. I want the user to be able to continue to the next (and final!) slide in the project. The timing for the Quiz Results slide is set to be active for 7 seconds. Umm, suggestions for a fix? Thanks. This problem has been driving me nuts since I'm so close to finishing!

I changed the timing on the results slide back down to being active for 1.5 seconds so that's what will show up in the screen shot below. I also included a screen shot for the Pass/Fail settings. Thanks.

  • ...along the lines of Quiz Results...Captivate3

    Greetings all,
Now I have another problem that I think you advanced users can solve; it has to do with reviewing quiz results.  The blurred screen shot is above.
As you can see this is the bottom of a question the student answered.  The problem is the rectangle box; it cannot be resized!  I've done as one person suggested on another discussion which seemed like a simple fix; to simply enlarge the review area on the storyboard.  I had all ready thought of that but it still did not work.
I have expanded the 'review area' on the storyboard slide but this does not have an effect on the published version.  This is for a fill in the blank question and there are three blanks on the screen.   One might think this would be the problem but it happens even with multiple quess questions; I cannot find the reporting box for this.  I think it might be because the Quiz Preferences has a default set and cannot be edited for longer answers.
    Thanks so much,

  • Monitoring quiz results

    Hey everyone,
Complete novice to Captivate, just downloaded the trial today as my work are looking at branching into e-learning. So far I have found it quite easy to grasp and I can see a lot of possibilities with it for us.
My questions is though, is Captivate capable of monitoring the quiz results once it has gone live? Can I monitor individuals performances via unique log-in code or will I be able to see an overall statistic on quiz performance?
Or is Captivate used for creating and another platform is required for monitoring these results?
Thanks for your help and excuse my lack of knowledge as I am purely from a video background.

You are correct that Captivate is just an authoring tool, not an LMS.  And some LMS do include limited authoring abilities.  But that usually means the authored content is bolted into that LMS and cannot be taken out or used elsewhere.
The authoring abilities of most LMSs consist of offering links to view PPTs, PDFs, or documents, with the added facility of building some simple quiz questions. They cannot compare with the kind of interactive content Captivate can create, and neither can they do advanced screen capture like Captivate.
So Captivate specialises in the authoring side of courses, and LMSs are really specialised in the delivery and tracking of the content.  Most people in the corporate or academic world find they end up needing both.
