Quiz retake issue

Hi there,
I'm having an issue with setting up my course of multiple opportunities to take the quiz.
I have a quiz with a bunch of question during the course that are not scored, and then a final assessment with 20 questions pulled from a quiz poll that are scored.
The user has to get 100% of the test correct, and when doing so everything works fine. However, if they fail, the review text is correct, but the retake button takes the user all the way back to the very first question which is an non-scored one, not the first one of the assessment.
I want the user to be taken back to the first question of the assessment if they have failed after clicking a button to do so. Wether this be a 'retake quiz' button or a custom one does not matter.
I am using Captivate 5.
Is there a way to make this work?
Cheers in advanced.

Hello,
Waht are your Quiz settings, such as Action on Failing Grade?  But I'm not suer at all that you can jump to another slide than the first Question slide.
Captivate always considers all quesitons in a file as one Quiz. You really do have two quizzes. One way to avoid this is splitting in two files, each one hveing a quiz and chaining them together. Or create the non-scored quiz slides yourself with standard objects, and be sure not to attach any score to interactive objects like click boses, buttons, text Entry Boses.

  • Fail Quiz - Retake jumps to wrong slide

After they fail the quiz, I have the retake button jump back to the review slide, but instead it jumps back to the middle of the course. I've tried setting it as slide 1 and slide 89 and it still jumps back to slide 56. Anyone had this issue before?

Yes, that is exactly it. It is jumping back to an interaction. I
have the settings set to NOT score interactions, just the quiz. Is there a way around this?

  • Quiz Retake - Adobe Presenter 9

    Hi,
Does Adobe Presenter 9 have the ability to allow the user to only retake the questions they got wrong on a quiz instead of repeating the entire quiz? I know AP8 doesn't and I looked on all the Adobe information I could find on AP9 and didn't see this. Just wanted to be sure.
    Thanks very much.

    Hi
There is no such settings in presenter 9 as of now.
I am taking this as an enhancement request .

  • Presenter 8 -- need help with proper settings to allow quiz retake (with a NEW set of questions from a random pool)

We are publishing a Presenter 8 quiz to an LMS in a SCORM format.  I am having trouble with the following:  the quiz is built with multiple question groups, and a limited number of questions are being selected from each group.  E.g. we have 80+ questions in total, and 25 are presented to a user on a given attempt.
When a user fails the quiz and exits the quiz normally, we want them to study and try again.  I set the quiz settings to allow infinite attempts, and set the LMS settings to make sure the quiz is not presented in "review mode".  When I test this quiz by failing it the first time, when I reenter the quiz, I am taken to the last slide in the quiz (which is the last one I viewed), and I can retake the quiz by navigating back to the first question.
Here's the problem:  I am presented with the SAME set of questions, rather than a NEW set of random questions.  This will facilitate cheating (all a user has to do is take the quiz once, review the answers, and then take it again to pass it).
How do I insure that the user is presented with a NEW set of questions when I retake the quiz?
I am open to upgrading to Adobe Presenter 10, but would rather not have to do so.  There must be some setting I'm missing.

  • Quiz Retake Button - Only Show Question Slides

I currently have courses with quiz question slides at different places throughout.
    Example:
    Slide 1
    Slide 2
    Quiz Question 1
    Slide 4
    Slide 5
    Slide 6
    Slide 7
    Quiz Question 2
    Slide 8
    Slide 9
    Quiz Question 3
    etc...
I have the Retake Quiz button on the results slide if a user fails the quiz. Is there any way to have the Retake Quiz button show ONLY the Quiz Questions slides, not the content slides in between? Currently, when the user clicks the Retake Quiz button, it directs them to the first quiz slide (Quiz Question 1), but after answering, the course continues to the content slides (Slide 4, Slide 5, etc...) before it reaches the next quiz question. Since the quiz slides are not directly consecutive, can the Review Quiz button be programmed to only show quiz question slides?

    Hi there,
You can do this using advanced actions and user variables.
you can create your own variable and apply a default value of 0.
On exiting the normal slide assign that variable with the value of 1 or if you have a button on that slide then you can apply action on that button.
and on enter of the slide you can apply a conditional action.
to check the value of that variable if it is equal to 1 then go to next slide, else continue.

    Thanks.

  • Self paced learning/quiz/HTML5 issue

Back again! My current project has self paced learning in place. We definitely want the student to be able to return to their last spot if they exit. This works fine throughout the whole course in the swf and html5 versions, until the quiz. The swf version functions correctly in the quiz, and returns you to where you last exited. In html however, if you select "OK" upon relaunch, it takes you to the beginning of the quiz. "CANCEL" takes you to your last (quiz) slide. In both instances, the quiz submit button does not function and you cannot navigate.
I've tried numerous setting and have had zero luck fixing this issue. Any ideas would be appreciated because the client does want to keep self paced learning.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
I have a question regarding your post.  I have a quiz (created in Captiave 7) and I can not get the quiz to return to where I exited in the swf.  How were you able to do that?  Are you using an LMS?  Are you using the Quiz Results slide?  If so, what settings?
I have Self Paced Learning checked (in the TOC Settings) and I have a slide after the Quiz Results slide that closes the project (Project > Start and End > Project End Options: Action: Close Project) and whenever I try to go back in, I go to this slide that automatically closes the project.
On thing I was told on the forum is "Self-paced Learning bookmarking is disabled as soon as you turn on LMS reporting."  Again, I'm not sure if you're using an LMS but that was something I did not know.
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Quiz, Retake quiz,

    Hi all!
My course has several practice ungraded questions, a real test (9 graded questions), and an "after course" reportable survey (8 questions). I want students to be able to retake the quiz once.  The Quiz Results slide now automatically appears after the survey. I want to show quiz results and put the retake quiz button on a custom quiz results slide after the test but before the survey so students don't go thru the survey before they see how they did.  I want students to get the opportunity to retake the quiz just after having taken it - and not after having taken the survey. And I don't want survey question info to show up on the "real" quiz results slide - makes no sense to the students.  I also want to report student success in terms of percentage completed on the test - not just in points scored.
Please help. How do I do this? I'm in Captivate 8.

Survey questions normally will not show up in the score result, since there is no score. However some quizzing system variables do take into account all scored objects (number of questions is one example) which is annoying.
You can create a custom score slide. Have a look at: Intermediate Score Slides - Captivate blog
That post has a different goal, but you'll see several custom score slides.
I don't know which version you are using? The Quizzing system variables are described in these posts:
    http://blog.lilybiri.com/system-variables-in-captivate-6
New features in Captivate 7.01 - Captivate blog
The last one has some details on new variables in 7.0.1. I didn't post the updated list for 8 yet... maybe after Adobe Learning Summit.

  • Captivate 5 knowledge check vs. quiz question issue

I would like to include question slides in my Captivate 5 project that do not score and are just used as quick knowledge checks.  I also will have a quiz at the end that will score and report to our LMS. I have tried a number of things, but none are taking the knowledge check questions out of the question total or the review quiz functionality.
I have tried marking the knowledge check questions as "survey" instead of "graded," and unchecked "report answers."  I don't see any other options available to me.  When I press F9, I cannot edit the question settings.  It looks like the Object ID may be causing my issue (since it is the same ID as the main quiz), but it doesn't seem like I can change that.
    Any ideas?

When you say the survey questions are not being excluded from the quiz, are your talking about the progress captions that say Question X of Y?
If so, you should be aware that you can turn off these markers and create your own by inserting captions that use Variables and Advanced Actions to calculate the question number.
If you've set the score for the survey questions to 0 and unticked the box to prevent them from being included in reprorting, they shouldn't be affecting the overall pass/fail score for the user.

  • Quiz slide issues in Captivate 4

I am having functionality issues with quiz slides in Captivate 4. When taking the quiz, slides will randomly get stuck/grey out and the user has to click the back button and then go forward and the slide will then function correctly. This is not acceptable to the client, for obvious reasons. I have tried re-building the quiz slides (several times) and have also copied the entire project into a clean Captivate file. Nothing seems to make a difference and it is still completely random. I will preview the quiz over and over and sometimes it will work perfectly and then the next time it'll get stuck. This has only started occuring since I upgraded to Cp4. I have had to resort to not using Quiz slides at all and re-creating them with click boxes, but then I miss out on some of the needed functionality that the quiz slides provide (with feedback). I am pulling my hair out! Anyone else having trouble with this?

    Hello all
I have been having the same issue and have spent a bunch of time with Adobe so this is what they sent me and so far my quizzes have been working and I have had no reports of any quiz's freezing up fingers crossed.
This is the latest corospondence from Adobe I have recived.. hope it helps..

1.)Separate all of the different quiz type questions into separate pools
and pull random questions from each pool.
2.)Stop using the multiple choice slides with single correct answer only
as it defeats the usability of the quiz module in Captivate
3.)Verify that video card drivers are compatible with Windows XP.
If you still think that it is the problem with Adobe Captivate then
please perform the below mentioned steps;-
1.) Recreate the Adobe Captivate preferences files.
Recreate the Adobe Captivate preferences files to eliminate problems
that a damaged preferences file might cause.
To recreate the Adobe Captivate preferences files:
    1. Quit Adobe Captivate.
    2. In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Documents and
Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Adobe and move the "Adobe
Captivate" folder to another location (for example, the Desktop).
    3. Start Adobe Captivate. Adobe Captivate creates new preferences
    files.

  • Review and retake issue

I designed a quiz with two attempts for each question. I would like learners to review the questions first before they retake for it will save much time. But when I play the quiz, and click "Review" button, there comes a blank page, no any review page for the questions.
Does anyone know what's worng with this?
    Thank you so much.

This is the way the Quiz is designed: you can not Review before exhausting the quiz attempts.

  • Sequencing Quiz Output Issue on Captivate 4

    Hi,
I've imported a powerpoint presentation as my content and added multiple choice, matching and sequencing activities.
There are several sequencing activities in the same learning object and I've had 2 related issues for learners.
Sometimes items from the previous sequencing activity replace those that should be present (this often happens after a user has clicked on an element to start the question)
Sometimes the same item appears in all of the parts of the sequence.
It appears that going back and reentering the slide MAY cure this, but not always.
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers
    Charlie

    Hello:
I've encountered the same issue; however, I built my presentation from scratch (rather than importing it from a pwpt), so the issue isn't related to the fact that you imported content. I would say it's more likely related to how Captivate constructs swfs when you publish a file.
I haven't been able to come up with a technical work around. Instead, I've had to work around the issue by changing the format of my sequencing questions to multiple choice, though I don't think it's reasonable to have to be required to resort to that measure for a piece of software which is this expensive. The sequencing questions should work as designed.
Adobe Captivate support: any help here?

  • Captivate 4 - Quiz Results Issue

Hello.  I have created a quiz using Captivate 4.  At the end of the quiz I have used a variable to report the score.  I used...$$cpInfoPercentage$$
In some situations the percentage appears greater than 100% when the user has made more than one error.  I thought it might have something to do with matching questions where the user gets one portion of the question correct but not the entire question.  I have been unable to recreate this situation but several users have reported it to me.
Any ideas what might be causing these skewed scores?
I appreciate any help that can be provided.
    Thanks!
    kj

That is what causing your problem. 30 seconds is much too long, unless you have an audio clip that has to play that long and is attached to the slide.
Keep the default duration of 3 seconds, please. The slide will automatically pause at 1.5secs and submit process takes two steps. Only after the second step the playhead will continue after 1.5seconds if you have left the actions On Success/After Last Attempt to Continue. Or it will do another action if you changed them.
    Have a look at:
    http://blog.lilybiri.com/question-question-slides-in-captivate
And I suspect you have a lot of slides that have a long duration. This is only increasing your filesize without any valid reason. Each second is 30 frames.

Next button is superfluous during Quiz, only useful when reviewing. You have to read my blog post, please.

  • Adobe quiz component issue

I have created a quiz movie, it loads each quiz as a swf,
    within the main movie shell.
my problem is that i created one of the three quiz types
using the flash quiz component. when i click on next question in
takes me to frame two in the shell movie rather than in itself. i
dont have time to rebuild them all -- the two best solutions i can
    think of are -----
    1) to convert the individual fla files to symbols - this
doesnt work for me as when i selct all the elements only parts are
changed to the symbol - the action script part doesnt convert and
    some other parts
    2) fix the code in the fla so that it works when loaded into
the movie as a swf file - i have looked at it but this seems beyond
    my coding knowledge
can any one help help me with either of these options or
    suggest an alternative route thanks

can anyone tell me what i am looking at here ? this is the
nav code in the link button in the flash quiz component - i have
exported the movie as an swf but when i load it into another movie
the button goes to a frame in the shell and not the frame in the
loaded movie - can anyone help me to edit this so it will refer to
    the its own movie
    thanks

  • Quiz Retakes

I have a quiz created in Captivate 3. The quiz is output as a
Scorm package and runs in Moodle. If a user gets a question wrong
and chooses to exit the assessment to start again the quiz jumps to
the slide following the incorrectly answered slide. I need them to
be able to restart a fresh. Can anyone help with this?
    Thanks

You likely have 'Never Send Resume Data' UNchecked, right? So
    the lesson
is always sending 'resume data' - i.e. a bookmark - to the
    LMS. So when
the lesson relaunches, it asks for the resume data, sees a
    bookmark
(last screen viewed), so returns to that screen.
You could play with the various Quiz Preferences to see if
    you can
change that, but I don't recall anything offhand that could.
    If you want
users to start fresh each time, you can choose not to send
    any report
data. If they complete the quiz, the quiz results and status
    will be
sent to the LMS...but each time the user re-launches the
    lesson, it will
(should!) start from the very beginning.

  • Unintentionally entering Quiz Review Mode

    Hi all.
I'm using Captivate CS5.0 as part of elearning suite 2.
I am outputting to a scorm compliant, AS3, Flash 10 file.
I am designing a module in which we have learning content (a narrated powerpoint), interspersed knowledge checks (not graded), and an end of lesson quiz (graded). The problem is that when one re-enters a question more than once, the question enters review mode.
This is a little difficult to describe, so I'm going to walk through of the flow of events:
    1) User enters question and then leaves question, either by getting it right or wrong.
    2) User navigates to a point before the question
    3) User takes the question again (doesn't matter if they get it right or wrong)
    4) User navigates to a point before the question and attempts to retake it again and it enters review mode:
I would prefer it if the users could take the question as many times as they want without entering review mode. I'd be happy to disable review mode completely, or to keep it in, but only enter review mode if my participants click the button on the very last slide.
Any recommendations, suggestions, what have you, would be appreciated!

You've tripped over the Quiz Scope issue.  This has been explained many times on this forum.  If your user enters Quiz Scope (starting at the first scored object) and then leaves it again, the quiz is frozen and they get Review Mode.
The solution: Just place a scored button on the first or second slide of your project to extend the quiz scope.
