Quiz score page font formatting?

I've created a quiz in Captivate 6. I have formatted the quiz results page to look the way I would like it to. This includes changing the font, color and style of the score variables that are displayed when a student completes a quiz. Any color formatting of the font for those variables works just fine, but no matter what font face or style (bold, italic, etc) I change it to, it always displays in Times regular when actually using the quiz after publishing. Is there something I'm missing or is it just not possible to change the font face of those auto-populated results?  Seems like a pretty basic function.

The variable for the percentage that the user got is cpInfoPercentage. I agree, it should also have Quiz in it, but hasn't. That has confused a lot of users up till now.
Download my descriptive list with all system variables, link is in this post:

You can show a message (text container) based on the value of cpQuizInfoPassFail.
Here is another post that could be useful:

Be sure I don't earn a dime with that blog, only started it to avoid always having to explain the same things in the forums.

  • Why does some published text maintain font/format randomly on a page?

I'm pretty good with this stuff but can't figure this one out: When designing 1-word links on any given page, all using the same font/size, all in a vertical list, for no apparent reason some of the text/links, when published, maintain the font/format precisely, while some do not and by default choose a "similar" font? I've been forced to create picture files of individual links to maintain their look, thereby losing the roll-over and re-size capacity.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Does anyone have an answer for this? I'm stuck too. I make a beautiful looking web page in iweb 8.0, only to find that fonts have changed, sizes have changed etc when I go to publish. Need help!

  • In adobe Captivate I would like the person taking the quiz to write their name and then for that name to appear on the score page.  Anyone know how to do that?

I have lessons created using Captivate that my high school students use.  I would like the student taking the test to type their name and have it appear on the score page so that they cannot share results.
Otherwise kids can do these for HW and share it with their friends.
    thanks

Supposing you don't use a LMS, this could be the work flow:
Add a Text Entry Box in the beginning of the course to ask for the name. If you want to be sure that they really do enter a name, have a look at:
Where is Null? - Captivate blog
Each Text Entry Box has an associated user variable. It is created automatically with the same generic name as the TEB, but you could better use a more significant name for the user variable:
Save Time: Create Associated Variable for Text Entry Box while Defining this TEB - Captivate blog
On the Score slide, insert a text container (caption or shape) in which you insert the user variable, using the X button in the Properties panel of the text container; it will appear between $$ and be replaced by the value of the variable on runtime

  • How do i prevent a slide that is after the quiz results page from showing?

HI guys, I am trying to achieve the following in Captivate 6:
    1) Users answer questions. They have 2 attempts to pass with 70% or above.
    2) At the quiz results page, if the score is less than 70%, users get a button to retake the quiz. After the second attempt, If the percent is 70% or above, they can click a button to view a certificate or click a button to see a transcript. If the percent is less than 70%, they click a button to get a transcript but NOT a certificate.
How can i accomplish this since i cannot add buttons to the quiz results page.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I am trying to implement a simple hide/show routine and it does not work. This is what I want.
I have two buttons (one to save a certifcate and one to save a course transcript).  I want to display those on the quiz results screen. The user has two chances to make a 70% or more on the quiz.
If the user obtains less than 70% score on the first try, on the quiz results slide I want to hide the button to save the certificate but keep the one for the transcript. If the user passes with 70 or more, then both icons remain on screen.
IF the user obtains less than 70% after the second try, the quiz results should only show the transcript button. If they pass with 70% or more, then both icons remain on screen.
I tried advance interactions to hide or show the icons in the "on slide enter" on the quiz results screen but that did not work.
This is an example of what i tried. if cpQuizInfoQuizPassPercent is less than 70% hide btncert. I also tried hiding the button and then assigning actions to show the button on passing the 70% but that did not work either.

  • Problems exporting rollover 'states' into Dreamweaver, and loss of font formats

    Hi
I am quite new to Fireworks and am having a little difficulty with some aspects of it.
I am building a miltiple page site, and am exporting using the the 'export CSS and Images' option from Fireworks CS4 to Dreamweaver CS4.
I have applied some 'swap image behaviour' to the links on the Master Page.
However When I try to export to Dreamweaver I get the following message:
"Only sliced images from the current state will be included in this export. Hotspot and behaviour attributes will be ignored."
Obviously I want the states (swap image) functionality to be exported so that the javascript rollovers work. Any ideas how to resolve this?
Also, when I export the pages into Dreamweaver, I have noticed that the font formatting is lost e.g. <h1> format style etc So an orange <h1> font title, with black outline, will not retain that formatting in Dreamweaver (it actually renders as white, which is the same as the <p> font elements.). I do know how to alter the CSS to render a different colour in Dreamweaver: but its the character outline that I cannot reproduce by manipulating the CSS (I don't know how to anyway....).
Also, once a 'Master' page has been created, will all other pages within the document automatically inherit the functions and settings as per the Master Page. Or do I need to link each page to the Master Page in order for them to inherit its functionality and settings? I'm particuarly thinking about the states/rollover issue again here i.e. Will I need to set under/over states on each individual page or do I just need to set it once on the Master page?
    Thanks for your help.

Q1:  There. Is no way to resolve this in Fireworks. You'll have to export the other states manually and build the rollovers in dreamweaver.
Q2:  Again, *if* there us a widely supported CSS option fir text outlining you have tomanually apply it to the code in Dreamweaver.
Q3:  Hyperlinks and graphics on the master page should be applied to all child pages.
Fireworks is not a true web page editor. Keep this in mind. It is a graphics tool fulirst and foremost. The CSS and HTML features are not nearly as robust as Dreamweaver.   Hope this helps

I accidentally deleted a button I need on the quiz results page in captivate 8. How do I get it back?

Go back into Quiz, Preferences, Pass or Fail. Uncheck 'Retake button' and check it again, it will reappear on the Score slide.

  • Quiz Score in Slide Presentation

    Hi All,
I have prepared a short tutorial in slide presentation format
with 20 questions at the end, and I'm trying to get the quiz score
(using Flash with AICC tracking) displayed on the last slide but I
haven't been successful so far. I am using slide template in Flash
Professional 8, and I followed the instructions in Flash help menu
including copying all the required files onto my server, but I'm
still having problem with reporting the quiz score.. The only thing
I don't understand very well in the instruction found on the help
menu is "start the LMS system (or create the AICC Course Descriptor
Files) that references the frameset.htm file."
I would appreciate if anybody could provide me with
information on where to get help on this. Maybe there is a tutorial
somewhere I am not aware of.

  • Cp6 Quiz score reporting error in LMS

Looking for any inputs - this one's a bit strange:
I've been tasked with developing a course that allows the learner to test-out by jumping directly to the quiz. I've set up a series of advanced actions that allow one shot at the quiz without reviewing the course content, and actions that steer the learner back into the course after failing the quiz. All of these actions work, and the quiz score reports correctly each time within the course - the problem is what happens after that:
I leave the course and go to the learner profile on the LMS - instead of 100%, the score is reporting as 75% (4 question prototype). I've set preferences to complete the course and report the score - the course reports complete, the only error is the incorrectly reported score. When I leave the transcript page and go back to the course, the course opens to the last question in the quiz, rather than the last page visited - and the question is not completed. Is this a setting I'm missing on the Cp6 side, or do I need to interface with the IT guys running the LMS? I'm running Cp6 with the most current patches on a Meridian LMS.

In answer to Rod's suggestion to set the score to percentage:
Done - the client prefers that report anyway. Still seeing the stuff as described below.
In answer to Erik's questions above:
after the quiz, you have a quiz results screen that shows all the information you'd expect, right?
Right - the quiz results screen in the course shows the score achieved
If they passed, how do they close the lesson?
The "Continue" button on the results screen is set up to take them to a completion page. that page has an "exit" button that takes them out of the lesson and back to the LMS.
Does the LMS report the same result as the summary page?
Yes if the quiz is set up to "submit all" answers at once in Quiz:Settings. (However, this is not my client's preferred set-up - so I'm still searching for the answers below)
No if you have the quiz submit each answer individually - see below:
The scores reported on the results screens for the quizzes in the red box above were 100, 90, 80 and 80, respectively.
If they fail the lesson, how are they redirected back to the content?
The "Continue" button on the quiz results page is set up to jump to the first page of content if the score is below passing.
Then they go through the content?
Yes - its required at that point.
how do they retake the quiz?
the "next" button on the last content slide takes them directly to the quiz.
If they retake it, does the summary slide show the correct information?
In the "submit all" mode - this all works perfectly.
If set up to submit after each answer, if you fail the quiz and exit the course before retaking it, the score is reported correctly in the transcript - it seems as if it defaults to the minimum passing score in when you submit each answer individually.
again, how do they then proceed to close the lesson?
They exit the lesson using the "Exit" button, which closes it and takes them back to the LMS.
I'd suggest adding a 'continue' button to that summary slide (if there's not one already) and instruct the user to click, take them to a 'congratulations' page and instructions to now close the lesson.
    Done - see above.
Do you have the lesson reporting 'after every slide' or 'send data at end'?  If none of the above options help, try changing it from one to the other (in the 'template' options).
I've set it using the submit all checkbox in Quiz:Settings - not sure how to access template options - is this a menu I'm unable to find?
Thanks again for your time on this -

  • Only Last Quiz Score Saved?

I am a new Captivate user but a very experienced Authorware
user. I have created a quiz in my Captivate course which is
launched through our Learn.com LMS. I notice that each time I take
the quiz, it overwrites my last quiz score. Is there a way in
Captivate to only allow users to take a quiz one time? Or is there
a way to find out the score for every Captivate session?
Interestingly, I notice that each time I take the quiz, the summary
page says I've only accessed it one time. Any comments or
suggestions to help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Andrew,
Hello! It's me, Carol Paquette (cjp717). I finally got my
Captivate to work correctly with my Learn.com LMS! As it turns out,
because we have SSL encryption on our LMS, they had to unsecure the
page that launched Captivate in our LMS registry settings. I am
packaging for SCORM 2004 - Flash 8. Yes, recording is now working
like a charm but only the last quiz score is saved.
I looked for the resume option in Captivate but can't locate
it. I can tell you this - the user always starts at the beginning
    of the tutorial.
I also ran several reports from my LMS hoping that I could
generate records from all the session taken but the LMS must be
keeping just one user record and always rewriting the latest score
    in the score field.

  • Font formatting differs in IE and FF

    Hi,
If I make changes to the font color in a page it displays OK
in IE but not in FF. Please see attached link for an example:
    http://www.originindustries.com/Assets/Toshaplio2.htm.
I am sure I am making a simple mistake but I am not an experienced
    designer. Hope someone can help.
    Andrew

don't worry, you'll probably pick it up as you go along. i
    only started
using css about a year ago, and i look back at some of the
    first stuff i
did and it's horrendous! but it's to be expected when you're
    teaching
yourself something like this. you're not going to be perfect
    at it from
the start, and you'll get better with practice. just keep at
    it!
and make sure you learn as much as you can about html so that
    you'll be
able to look at your code and see what the problem is when
    stuff like
    this happens.
    good luck!

  • Cap 4 Quiz Results page not restoring data properly

I'm testing a Quiz built in Captivate 4 SCORM 1.2 which allows 5 attempts to achieve a passing score of 100.  If the user fails, exits on the Quiz Results page, and then relaunches (bookmarked back to the Results page), the values displayed (score, number of questions correct, number of attempts) are not correct.  Score is 1 or 4 or a random number, attempts goes back to 1.  I am able to analyze the saved cmi data to see that the correct data has indeed made it to the LMS.  And if the user clicks Retake for another attempt, the Results page will then update and show the correct number of attempts.  So Captivate is reading in the saved number of attempts.  But it seems like Captivate displays the Results page before it has fully retrieved the cmi data.  Has anybody else had this issue?  Any work-arounds?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Adobe Captivate 6 problem with Review area text on Quiz results page

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Captivate 6 and I have a test at the end of my project with the built in 'Quiz results page' at the end.
However, the standard 'review area' provided always seems to play up for me. I have changed the 'quiz results messages' through the preferences and changed the font of the review area, but everytime I play my project the message displayed is in a different font that I did not set and the size is so large that the sentence goes off the screen. It has done this on numerous projects.
I have changed the font of the review area and it shows up on my normal view, but everytime I preview the project or publish it, the font changes back to a strange default.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
    Thank you.

    Hannah,
That is a very well-known bug in the last Captivate versions... if you screen these forums you'll find multiple threads complaining about it. Some fonts will work, I think Calibri works (not all styles however) and all the other fonts revert to Times New Roman. I'm a bit puzzled that you call it a 'strange default'.

  • Exporting Quiz Scores to Excel

How can I export quiz scores to a spreadsheet or database
without using Coldfusion or an LMS? The only references I can find
suggest using Coldfusion. I have access to Dreamweaver, but no
access to Coldfusion or an LMS.

    Welcome to our community, smjohnson_1
I'm assuming you are referring to Tim Mushen's article at
    this
    link.
What you could do is to work with someone familiar with
linking web pages and forms to other databases. Then using the
information provided in Tim's article, you could have a custom
    solution developed and implemented.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to allow learners comment about course after the quiz result page?

How do I go about allowing the leaners to comment on the course they have taken which should appear after the quiz result page. And how can their comments be send to us or reported back to us in some form so that I can see what their comments were.

Check the settings for each quiz question to verify they are set to report a score to the quiz.  At the moment, from what I can see in your Advanced Interaction dialog, they may not be reporting to the quiz.

I'm a little new to iWeb but got the basics down, I think. However, can't seem to get the web page (via Safari) to accept font formatting changes I make on my Blog. Yes, I dumped cache and reloaded the page.Am I doing something wrong?
