Quiz scoring incorrectly for non sequential questions

Hi there!
We are having some problems with a quiz scoring incorrectly.  We have a total of 17 quiz questions spread throughout a project.  There are 5 sequential questions at the end of the project.  When we preview the project, regardless of how you answer all 17 questions, only the 5 at the end are scoring. The review area indicates that the system knows there are 17 questions (i.e. 17 total question, 5 questions answered correctly) so it's recognizing them, just not scoring them correctly.  We're using version 5.0.1.624.  Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum,
First of all, please update your version, the latest version is 5.0.2.630  It is possible by the Help, Updates option.
Could you check the Advanced interaction view/panel (F9)? It gives you an overview of all the scored objects, inc. question slides. Are all the question scores added to the Total score?

  • Quiz scoring incorrect

    Hi
A user has taken a quiz in a course. He failed the first time
and so he did it again this time getting 100% of the questions
correct. On his score page though it shows he has passed with a
    score of 88%.
Is it taking his first attempt into account? If so how do I
stop that happening and only get his latest scores?
The quiz is feeding into SCORM LMS.
    Details read:
    Your score - 44
    Max Score - 50
    Questions Correct - 5
    Number of Questions - 5
    Accuracy - 88%

Go to the Advanced Interactions and verify the values of each
question and click boxes. Make sure no other click boxes have point
values assigned to them. How many points is each question? 10?
Take the LMS out of the picture. It is possible the LMS is
doing some kind of averaging with all the attempts.
For troubleshooting purposes, have the Captivate quiz email
you the scores instead. It's a more reliable form of
    troubleshooting.

  • Unused Limit Fee for Non-revolving Lines of Credit Calculation

    Hello, gurus!
Question is about non-revolving lines of credit. In line's master we specify some additional flows besides limit, period of validity.
So when we define unused limit fee parameters in non-revolving line of credit master, the system automatically generates financial flows for this fee calculating as
(Initial Credit line Limit - Tranche Amounts + Tranche Repayments)InterestDays of calculating/Days in the Year.
Which is incorrect for Non-revolving lines which should not take in concern Tranche Repayments.
So we need to either ignore repayment flows or change calculation method for Unused Limit Fee flows.
We tried to fix this both with SPRO and ABAP but it didn't help.
Would be great to hear any ideas!
    Thanks.

Until I applied for my Discover card last year, the only things on my credit report were student loans and maybe a closed JCPenney card that waas closed in 2012. I was approved with similar scores to yours. I think it just depends on the bank's criteria for approving credit cards. Some want to see a history of responsible credit use, others seem to look at scores alone. I know that probably doesn't help, but it's my 2 cents.

  • How to get a question in the course placed anywhere in the course and does not appear in the quiz result or total number of questions. Pretest would work except it can't go anywhere in the course (at least for me it can't)

How to get a question in the course placed anywhere in the course and does not appear in the quiz result or total number of questions. Pretest would work except it can't go anywhere in the course (at least for me it can't)

Use a normal question, and do not add the score to the total score. That will give you a correct score at the end. But the total number of questions, that system variable will still take into account all questions. You'll need a user variable, and calculate its value by subtracting 1 from the system variable cpQuizInfoTotalQuestionsPerProject. Same for the progress indicator if you want to show it?
Customized Progress Indicator - Captivate blog
If you want to allow Review, you'll have to tweak as well. You didn't specify the version, and all those questions I now mentioned.
And my approach, since you talk about only one question: create a custom question, because you'll have total control then.

  • Non sequential values for knobs

Is it possible to set non-sequential values for the control knobs on the front panel? For example, I'd like to set values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100, etc...

Use the log mapping and text labels.  See example.

  • Quiz scoring for multiple answers

    Hi there.
I've got a quiz with a few questions that have more than one answer. For example, a fill in the blanks with 5 blanks.
Is there any way to have the user score 1 point per blank? At the moment if I set it to 5 points, they still score 0, even if they get 4 out of the 5 correct.
I'm trying to do the same thing for a matching question too (1 point per correct match).
    Thanks.

Indeed. You can 'add' that score to the Quiz total (look in Advanced Interaction panel - F9) and the system quizzing variables take into account the score obtained by those interactive objects: buttons, shape buttons, Text Entry Buttons, click boxes and interactive widgets.  Have multiple examples on my blog (some claim it is worthless, incomprehensible) of custom question slides created with standard objects where the score is obtained using interactive objects.

    hello
when i type in the correct answer for my security question it always comes up as incorrect I have the answer written down but there not working can someone help

    Hi, Corinneact.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The usual cause for errors is that the security question responses are case sensitive.  If case sensitivity is not an issue with your answers, see the last step in the attached section of the article below.
Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.

  • Is there a way to restrict the number of attempts for a remediated question using advanced actions?

I have the following slides in my project:
    content slide 1
    content slide 2
    question slide 1
    question slide 2
Question slide 1 is a question about content slide 1. Question slide 2 is a question about content slide 2. I would like to restrict the total number of attempts to two for each question. If question 1 is answered incorrectly on the first attempt, the learner would be returned to content slide 1 for review. Clicking the next button will take the learner back to the missed quiz question and allow them a second attempt to answer it correctly. If they answer it incorrectly again, it is scored as incorrect and the learner is taken to question slide 2.
Can this be done or does remediation keep repeating until the learner answers the question correctly?
If that is the case, can I achieve my objective by using advanced actions? And, if so, can you provide step by step instructions on how to do this?

I think it could be possible, but giving you step-by-step instructions, sorry, that would take a lot of time. Did you use advanced actions already? My archived blog has a lot of use cases and tutorials, but I think it is not fair to ask on a forum for step-by-step instructions for each use case you want to create.  The most important thing will be to make sure that the user always remains in the Quiz scope, you can use the new system variable cpInQuizScope while testing. There is no system variable for attempts on question level, only one on Quiz level, so you'll have to create a user variable to track the attempts on question level. A big problem is that when you leave a question slide, without using the remediation work flow, the attempts are considered as finished. Personally I would prefer for that reason to not use the default question slides. You could try out a combination of remediation and advanced actions, never did test that?

  • Quiz Scoring When Branching

    Hi all,
    I'm on CP5 for Mac.
I have a short quiz with two questions. If they get the first question correct, I want to take the learner to a second question slide based on implicit feedback. If they miss the first question, I want to take the learner to a second, different slide that is, again, based on implicit feedback. Point is, I want to go to two different places depending on if the first question is correct. I know I can use an advanced action to make this happen.
The second slide is basically asking the same question whether or not the learner got the first question right. My path looks like a "Y"... which means I have three questions in the quiz. I only want two questions to be scored. Here's my question: what kinds of problems will this approach present for CP? Is there a better workflow to create this type of quiz that I should be aware of?
I have to report results to an LMS.
    Thanks,
    Kevin
P.S. Lillybri, just getting this one out there to get some feedback while I go work your tutorials. :-)

The above approach worked. I created a user variable called q1Correct. On entering the first question slide, I ran an action called initScenario and set q1Correct with a default value of 0 in anticipation of the learner getting the question wrong. On exiting the slide, if the learner answered the question correctly, I ran another action called q1IsCorrect and changed the value of q1Correct to 1; then I jumped to question slide 2. If the learner missed the first question, I just jumped to slide 2 - since q1Correct already had a default value of 0, indicating that the answer was wrong, I didn't need to run any actions on exit with an incorrect answer. On the second question slide, I checked the value of q1IsCorrect in a third (conditional) action, and showed my custom text accordingly. More specifically, if q1Correct was equal to 1 (meaning the answer was right), then I showed the appropriate text caption. Conversely, if q1Correct was 0 (meaning the earlier answer was incorrect), I showed another text caption.
    Case closed.

  • Can Retake Quiz button take me to 3rd question slide of the project?

    Hi,
I am happy to join this forum. I hope anyone of you answer my question.
I am using captivate 4. I am not storing score onto any LMS.
I am developing an e-learning course of 30 slides. First 20 slides are content slides. I have 2 question slides as 14th and 15th slides. I don't want these 2 questions be part of my main Quiz which starts from 21st onwards which has 10 question slides. The quiz result page has "Retake Quiz Button" which is taking to the 14th slide which I dont want. Actually Retake Quiz button should take me to 21st slide only.(..and all the question slides in my course showing "Question x of 12". But I want this to show "Question x of 10" only). Because I have used 2 question slides (14th and 15th) to check the user for better understanding.
    Can anyone help me out.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Manoharan.A

    Welcome to the forum,
Each Captivate file, if you enable scoring will report a total score, in your case the score of the 'pre' questions and of the 'real' questions. Same with the progress (which you can disable).
Since your pretest only has 2 slides, to achieve your goal without having to create multiple files (pretest or final test separated from the main course), I would propose not to use the default Question slides for the pre-test, but to create them using standard objects, variables and advanced actions. This is perfectly possible for the most Question types, so which type did you use for the pre-test: true/false, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank...? Instead of reporting the score the usual way (they get stored in the system variable cpQuizInfoPointsScored), I would store the results of the pre-test in a variable.
Both your issues will be solved: when retaking the Quiz, since only regular Question slides are considered as a Quiz, you will be taken to the first Question slide and the progress will be as you want it to be.
If you want to go this way, and need more help, please post your questions. I did publish some articles on use of variables and advanced actions but examples were made with CP5 (principles are the same). Captiv8r (moderator of this forum) has a gooberguide about Advanced actions (for CP4) that could be of great help:

i dont know why you are so mean i just asked which
    wrongs i had wrong
anyway im done with thoseSo, the questions have 4 alternative answers. We tell you which questions you got wrong. This eleminates one of
the alternatives, leaving 3 choices. Usually in most mutlichoice questions 1 choice is obviously incorrect,
leaving 2 choices. One of those you have probably already discarded when you initially made your incorrect chocie
thus leaving 1 alternative. Congratulations you just 100% on your test. I don't think so. Go read your book or notes or
whatever you have because all the answers will be in there. The teacher will not ask you a question on a subject

  • Quiz Scoring with infinite attempts

Goal: When the user selects the wrong answer I want them to be able to continue to select answers until they select the correct answer BUT are graded "incorrect" for the score on that slide for picking the wrong answer first. I thought there was a way to do this but cannot find it. Suggestions.....

Sorry, i wasn't very clear on why I'm looking to do this. I'm actually looking to do it in an assessment rather than a quiz. What I'd like to happen is this:
-learner is given instructions and they need to click on an area of the screen.
-the first time they click on the wrong area of the screen, a caption appears giving them a hint (i'm not using the built-in hints in captivate, i've built something else that accomplishes this)
-the second time they click on the wrong area, a point is deducted from their score, and a caption appears telling them where they should've clicked. right now, i have this set up in captivate with a failure caption. i want the user to be forced to click the right area before they can progress in the assessment (hence the infinite attempts), but i want that second attempt to be scored.
thoughts on how to do this?? any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Problem with quiz scoring

I'm still having an issue with this.....
Total of 30 questions spread throughout the project. The
first 15 are set up as graded questions since I want to make sure
the learner gets them right, but I don't want the scores reported
so I have these set to zero point value and do not have report
answers checked. The last 15 are also graded questions, 10 points
each, and report answers are checked. Learner must get 70% or
better to pass. When I go through the course, the results slide is
showing total 30 questions and the number correct out of 30,
although it is only calculating the score for the last 15. Somehow
I need to separate these out so that only the last 15 are reported.
I tried changing the objective ID, but it changes it for all 30
questions so Captivate is looking at these as one pool of
    questions. Any thoughts?

I don't see how you can specify some questions as "graded but
not reported". If you want to know how the user did at all, the
    score must be reported.
Since it sounds like the Quiz Summary page is the holdup, you
might be able to get away with splitting the project into two
separate files with two different values for "quiz passing":
    - one containing the first 15 questions (each scored as you
would any other quiz question) but give it an overall quiz passing
score of zero to ensure that the user always "passes"
    - a second containing the "real" test questions with a "real"
    quiz passing score
That way, the Quiz Summary page will reflect only the
questions in each file and you'll still have data for each set of
questions: one set of "user score not held against them" questions
and a set of "must achieve a minimum passing score"
    questions.

  • HSDIO Dynamic Generation of Digital Signals on Separate Non-sequential Ports Using the PCI-6542

I am using the PCI-6542 trying to generate serial data timing on separate non-sequential ports 8, 9 and 16 as shown in the attached Digital Waveform Editor JPEG file
I would like to be able to send binary data to ports (lines) 8, 9 and 16 without disturbing the other 29 ports on the PCI-6542 board. Looking on various HSDIO examples I don't see the capability of being able to send dynamic generation in binary format to a group of ports or being able to mask out non-timing involved ports like you can in static generation.
Was anyone successful in implementing this type of serial binary timing waveforms using the PCI-6542 board.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

    Hi Nycor,
Outputting your data on lines that you specify is indeed possible on HSDIO cards.  You just need to list the channels you want to use in your Channel List when call the niHSDIO Assign Dynamic Channels VI.  For example, for lines 8, 9, and 16, you would input 8,9,16 into the Channel List.  Order in this list matters, so the first waveform in your file will correspond to line 8, second waveform to line 9, etc.  If your waveforms are out of order in your file, then rearrange the Channel List accordingly.
One of my colleagues here is actually working on an example that implements this; I believe it may be for an open service request that you have.  I will speak with her when she is done and see if there is some example code we can provide that demonstrates this.  If you have further questions, I am happy to help out here, but you will likely get faster response through your open service request via phone and email.

  • Service desk for non-sap (please - any inputs are welcome)

    hi all,,
I know how to setup service desk for SAP use. Can some one provide me some tips on using solution manager - service desk for non-sap as well? eg: the company wants to use service desk for normal activities as well, as laptop not working, server down, other system issues etc.
The questions I have are -
    1) Any specific structure to be created for the non-sap? The way we use in SAP specific environment is to use "SAP Components" while creating tickets. How can we create tickets for non-sap components? What will be the "responsibility" selection?
    2) How about the Ibase? For SAP, the ibase already have the data from SMSY. How can I get data for non-sap systems? Anything is SAP to keep the Asset management data (like entries of laptops, servers etc)
Thanks for all the suggestions !!

    Hi
You need to go for service desk XT which is the extension of service desk to manage non sap or IT incidents
    Check below link
    https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/_solutionmanager
Heterogeous system environments are a challenge for IT-service management in any company. The associated complex structures and varying forms of media often make it difficult to realize efficient service processes. With SAP Solution Manager Service Desk - Extended Usage (Service Desk XT), SAP offers a centralized support tool as a single point of access - for service requests and problem tickets related to SAP and non-SAP software.
The Single Point of Access for Support
SAP Solution Manager, which is a standard part of every SAP solution and therefore can be used by all SAP customers, supports users in SAP relevant service requests. The standard function of the service desk is restricted to service requests.
With Service Desk XT, SAP provides an extended support tool, which can be also used for general service requests, for example regarding IT or telecommunication equipment.
This priced add-on does not require additional interfaces to third-party products - the same service requests are used for SAP and non-SAP applications. This simplification is a benefit for your employees.
This solution has been created with IT service providers in mind, especially those which work within a company and currently do not have an IT-service desk application in place or would like to replace an existing system.
